I knew something heart wrenching was going to happen in this book. This author has such a way about her writing that I can't get over it. I continue to think about the books even after I have read them and want more of them. I cannot wait to see what happens next and I cannot wait to see what else this author puts out.
I enjoyed this story a lot. The rebels have come up with a plan to go against president Vider and the rest of the crazy people in this book. Emma's dad and sister are nut jobs and I really cannot express that more. I really liked the way the author portrayed this as well as the writing of the after math of what happened. Emma has a lot to deal with and dealing with more guilt on top of what already happened in book one it's interesting to see where she ends up in the end of this book.
She literally has nothing to lose at this point and I really think the next book she is going to come out as a warrior and just abolish everyone in her path.
I really like the three sister connection as well and that they all may have some sort of path to this all. I look forward to finding out more. When Ren gave her the book I was excited to find out more and then we only found a little and I assume this next one will piece it all together.
Ren was great again! I said it last time and I will say it again I think it really adds to this story. It is a such a hilarious part of the story and really just shows Ren in a different light as well. He is still him but not at the same time because you can tell that he does have some sort of feelings for his niece and hope he really plays a big part in the end.
Overall, I really loved this story. It has more adventure, heart break, mystery, and a little bit of kicking butt. I look forward to reading the next book and many more from this author. I highly recommend this series and this author.

Long ago I fell in love with Sarah Noffke’s writing, and now I have fallen in love with her characters in The Reverians too. This, naturally, meant my heart was in for one hell of a ride!

Every second of this book was spent enraptured by the events taking place and the emotions they triggered in the characters, along with myself as a reader. It was so easy to connect with the story and that meant it felt real. Real enough that I care about what happens and will throw a fit when I don’t like it *glares at book*. I may understand why certain things happen but that doesn’t mean I have to be happy about it! *grumbles*

The characters have, and will continue to go through so much if the ending is anything to go by – I can’t wait for the third book to see what else is thrown their way. Needless to say that shit will go down! Em is not just another one-sided badass heroine, there is so much to her and that means her emotions are just as complicated. Of course it wouldn’t be a Sarah Noffke book if the relationships weren’t also just as complicated…

In this second instalment, the plot has thickened and people are starting to realise just what’s at stake. You won’t want to miss it.

*****The author of this this book gave me a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review****

This was me after finishing this amazing book:

Wow. Don't start listening to this audio book (or reading, if you're reading this) series if you have anything to do that day. The story just consumed me. While this book didn't have as epic of a storyline as the last book in scope, it hit me much more emotionally. I mean, the whole book was more emotional for me not just that ENDING. (See above giph if you want to know my feelings for that ENDING).

The last book left off with Em and Rogue fleeing to live in a little house (I feel emotional, almost crying, just remembering it lol) away from Austin valley. They left Zack and Em's sister behind to start the revolution. Em returns determined to find a solution as she sees Rogue's health is getting worse and he refuses to go see doctor Parker. Em is both determined to solve the mystery of Rogue's failing heath and to help Zack and her sister jumpstart the revolution.

There are some really interesting scenes with Zack and Em and I am very excited to see where their relationship goes. The only thing I didn't really like was that Em's sweet free spirited personality seems to be taking a bit of a hit from all the trauma she's going through, she's becoming more harsh and angry (it makes sense and wouldn't be very real if she wasn't changed by the bull she has to go through).

The full cast was there and there were some pretty awesome moments with Em's sisters. I like the setup the author is making between the sisters.

In short, if you like dystopia you shouldn't miss this series.

Oh man, so much to say...

Defects was so amazing, and it's not so much that Rebels wasn't remarkable as that Em didn't seem as strong and independent as she was in Defects. Em, as a character, felt younger and more naive to me. I find the title very fitting, and this book was a lot like LOTR II, where there is a massively long movie gearing up for war, but it just is a LOT longer than it needed to be.

Rebels felt like it was trying to fill space for me without much foreground action. I can appreciate what will come and am honestly very excited to see the culmination of all that has happened come to fruition in Book 3-Warriors.

The biggest issue I had while reading this was the slower pace and the logistics. I didn't feel as though much care was being taken with the planning and moving around. With just Vider's senses, they would have been detected and thwarted long ago. Also, why has Em never leached Zack? Why is Em so naive when she admits things and then goes on like she didn't? All the screaming, and no one does anything about it. Not very convincing. We have more Ren, though, at least, so it would be interesting to see what he has been up to this whole time.

Overall I have to leave this book with a 3.5 stars... Given the ending... which I am not happy about Sarah.... you know why... it was just so wrong to pull that one on us, especially after you even sent me those photos to feed my obsession. I can't wait to move on to Book 3 and see where all this planning led. PS. Why is there a horse on the cover ;) It's beautiful, but why?

Wow.

Another beautifully written story by Sarah Noffke!

Like the first book, I was immediately drawn into Em's world...and it is a bright beautiful place. It sounds crazy to call it bright with all of the battles she is dealing with, but Em has a brightness and beauty of spirit and it makes even the hardest situations light. The girl is brave, gentle, and tough as nails.

There were definitely dark situations in the second part of this story...the darkest coming at the end. That ending tore at my heart. Needless to say, I need book three quickly.

Another escape...another fantastic story. Keep it up, Noffke. :)

I loved this plot! It’s really original and there are some plot twists I honestly didn’t see coming (I usually suspect these things). Em is a great heroine, with real emotions. I recommend this to anyone who likes YA books!

*I received this book, free of charge from the author, in exchange for beta-reading and an honest review.*

In the second installment of the Reverians trilogy, we get a small peek at what life is like at Rogue’s homestead but primarily we’re taken back to The Austin Valley as Em recruits Parker to find a cure for Rogue’s debilitating headaches.

It’s nice because we get to see more of Zack, some of Nona, and even Tutu Of course, Rogue comes looking for Em and we learn that, for some reason, he absolutely refuses to see the doctor. Meanwhile, there is plotting done, we discover just exactly what happened to Rogue’s beautiful mother Violet, and in the end plans are carried out .

This was an amazing installment, although, I can’t claim I was ecstatic with all the happenings it contained and I'm sure others will feel the same way.
After "speaking" with the author via email, I'm convinced certain things were necessary for the plot though.

In any case, I’m very much enjoying to Warriors, which I'm beta-reading right now, however slowly! I just know there will be stunning conclusion to Noffke's sophomore trilogy!

FREE ARC FROM AUTHOR

After running away with Rogue, Em lives happily with her new found love in their new house. Except that Rogue's headaches keep getting worse and she can't bear it anymore. Determined to make him better, Em sets off in the middle of the night back to Austin Valley to seek the help of Doctor Parker and bring him back to Rogue,. Once there, she reunites with her other best friend Zack, but he seems more distant than usual and says things Em can't make sense of. To gain Doctor Harper's trust, she will have to break the mind control Vider has over him all while remaining hidden. Astonishing discoveries lead to the truth about the death of Rogue's mother and the ultimate lengths that Vider has gone through to achieve his goals. Em is disgusted and the more she learns, the more she realizes she has to stop Vider at any cost.

Okay i LOVED the first book! You can find my review for that here. The only book that actually made me cry-as in full on tears and not sobbing- was clockwork princess because come on it was GENIUS. Rebels kept my heart on a whirlwind throughout the book, it kept me high with exhilaration and action. AND THEN IT BROKE MY HEART IN 2!!!! and cue to crocodile tears!!!! That ending-just-i can't even wrap my head around it! I actually wanted to toss my kindle on the floor and i actually screamed in my pillow..i know i can be dramatic but i just love these characters! I took a while contemplating if i should give this book a 3 star because of it but then i though it was worthy of a five star! Because it really made me feel-and that's how i know this is a great story because i am so attached to the characters!

Em is growing stronger by the day,. Her determination grows and i can't help but feel so proud of the girl who used to sneak into her dad's office who is now breaking into medical labs! She becomes this symbol of rebellion-even though her rebellion only consists of Rogue, Zack, Nona, (Parker & Tutu?) and herself...she doesn't let that dampen her goals. i Think my only problem with her was the fact that she couldn't see that Zack loved her.

One of my favorite things about this book is the "bad guy"-Vider. I don't know how the author managed to make me hate him even more than i did before-he is the most repulsive and cruel dystopian villain i have ever read about. The plots associated with him were just GENIUS! I loved every second of it and man i really want him to die!!! He doesn't even deserve to live after what he's done! I won't tell you what-read it and feel the disgust and shock for yourself.

The side characters are all well developed and we really come to love each and every one of them! For example Tutu (Em's grandma) is hilarious and cheeky, Nona is a hell of a determined fighter and Ren (Em's uncle) never fails to make me laugh! He really has this attitude thing going on but you know he has a soft spot for Em and i loved their banters! Definitely one of my favorite characters!

I know book 3 will be EPIC. Th last part of Book 2 left me heartbroken and i wish it was false-i really wish. But it feels like its definite and i have a feeling Em will be completely warrior-like. She will be deadly and she will create the best rebellion yet in the YA world! For me, this rebellion actually surpasses that of "Mocking Jay" because Em is doing everything herself. She isn't merely a symbol-she is the root of rebellion! The emotion in that last chapter-just wow.
Sarah Noffke is definitely taking the dystopian world by storm and i can't wait to see what happens next!!!

Rebels picks up a few months after the end of Defects. Rogue and Em are free from Austin Valley, but they both know that their peace is only temporary. They must continue the rebellion against the evil President Vider.

When Em realises that Rogue’s health is deteriorating, she goes back to Austin Valley in search of a solution. When Rogue follows her, they find themselves muddled up in even more secrets and lies surrounding Vider and his quest for ultimate power.

The two of them team up with Zack and Nona in order to take away some of Vider’s control over the Valley. I loved Em being reunited with Nona. The relationship between the two sisters is wonderful to read, and I think Nona is a key part in the rebellion. What I also found interesting was Em’s discovery of her true name, and what it means. There is definitely more to the story of her, Nona, and the third sister, Dee. I’m excited to further explore the connection between them and their names.

Ren was back in Rebels, and he was just as fabulous as ever. Although he acts constantly irritated by Em and her questions, I think he is secretly growing fond of her. If anyone can help her figure out the path to getting justice for the Valley, it’s Ren. Even if he insists he doesn’t care!

I adored the relationship between Em and Rogue. They work as a team, always looking out for one another. I found their relationship to be different to what I usually read in YA, simply because it was a healthy relationship. They were genuinely good for each other. It wasn’t some whirlwind romance that had occurred over the space of a week. Theirs was a relationship built upon friendship and years of history together.

Although I knew Rogue was hiding something throughout the story, I was in no way prepared for what it turned out to be. It hit me like a train. I had my heart shattered by the ending of this book. I was actually on a train whilst I was reading the final few chapters, and once I figured out what was going to happen, I had to put my Kindle away until I got home because there was no way I was going to subject myself to that emotional torture whilst on public transport!

The one character I have mixed emotions about in this book is Zack. I don’t know whether it’s because we don’t really know too much about him, or whether it’s just that he pales in comparison to Rogue’s vibrant personality, but I’m torn on whether I like him or not. With the ending of Rebels in mind, I’m certain we’ll be seeing more of Zack in the final book, Warriors, so I’m hoping he will get his chance to shine and my opinions will be changed.

As heart-breaking as I found the ending, the one positive I can take away from it is that I know it’s going to make Em ruthless. She was determined to end Vider before, but now she will be completely cutthroat. I’m excited to see her strength grow.

As exciting as ever, Rebels is another fantastic edition to The Reverians series. Sarah Noffke always delivers a gripping plot and well-developed characters. I’m beyond ready to read the final book.

"I was given a copy by the author for an honest review!"

The acknowledgements being made, I just have to say: I HATE YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW MS. NOFFKE.
Ok, that conclusion drawn, I just want to crawl in a hole and cry.
Never in my wildest imagination would I have thought that would happen. NEVER.
I am full of sadness and emotionally ineffective.
That ending was the cut throat of all cut throats. I just can't seem to be able to get past it.
I know I want to but I can hardly think of anything else.

You must know I don't really really hate you of course. I love you and that's why I'm gonna try to forgive you this one. But it was a low blow, so low that my husbands gonads hurt.
The book as a whole was perfect, like always. I loved Tutu, Ronald, Nona, Zack, Em and Rogue so much. They had such a huge role to play in all this and this is just the beginning. OMG and Rogue's mom was fantastic. I can't help but think that she needed him and he went, that's how I can make myself cope with the unthinkable.
Ms. Noffke you really made me cry with this one, I mean, you demolished me in 5 pages. That's a tremendous feat. Rarely seen in the history of literature. I just don't cry. And I cried more than my daughter when I tell her she has to put the controllers down and go to bed.
I am barely restraining myself to give anything away at this point because I am evil like that and I want all the others after me to suffer the same. So I won't spoil anything. But you are in for a HUGE surprise lovelies. MS. Noffke goes in for the kill and she doesn't take no prisoners.
I vote for her to handle the refugees crisis in Europe.

It is useless to say that I want to read the next book more than I want air in my lungs.
From the way Em made her exit I KNOW that shit will hit the fan, and maybe even the stratosphere. And I want a front row seat for when that happens.

Just so we're clear, I love you very much Ms. Noffke, but I have to keep you on your toes, not reveal all my cards and all that.

I was offered a copy of this book in audio format from the author in exchange for an honest review.

In the previous book, Defects, we left Em and Rogue after they escaped from Austin Valley and the dangers there. But things could not be left at that, since Rogue is suffering from debilitating headaches from the injections he received, and many innocent people, among them, Nona, Em's sister, will be deprived by the government from what it makes them dream travelers. Em is a rebel, and she cannot leave things like they are.

We encounter again a beautifully written book, paired with the sweet narration of Elizabeth Klett. It is like they were made for each other. I enjoy how the stories are intertwined together, making the narration flow and keep your attention at all times. The characters are very well developed and alive, making one care for them, and suffer when they suffer. We learn some terrible truths in this book, which make the story even more crude than it looked in Defects.

This book feels like it is a transition between the exposition of the conflict in Defects and what will be the resolution in Warriors, and in a way it had me expecting for more to happen. Em, Zach, Rogue and Nona set the wheels in motion to get revenge and justice but there is still a lot to do until they get the government down. Some of the reactions of the characters seem a bit forced and I am sure we will see the relationships evolve in the next book.

I just can't get enough of it, Sarah Noffke has me hooked to this story, and I do hope Warriors lives up to the expectations these first two novels have set. I am impatient to read more!

Em uncovers more deception and lies in Rebels: The Reverians Book 2 as the story picks up a short time after Defects (book one) left off. Rogue is still suffering from crippling headaches and Em ventures back to Austin Valley on her own to find help for him without him knowing. I love Em’s strong-headed nature when it comes to helping her city and those she cares about. I think we could be friends.

Sigh…BUT. Sometimes I just want to shake Em to help her realize what she’s missing. Her relationship with her best friend, Zack, is infuriating at time because I feel so bad for him. He is so sweet. I just want to hug him to let him know it’ll be ok.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Rouge and Em together! But, I think Zach just needs to find someone special (and that isn’t a horrible human being). I’m rooting for you, dude!

Em’s horrible family (excepting Nona of course) turns the evil up a notch as well as the plot thickens! Will Rouge, Em, and Zack find out the truth before it’s too late? Ah! Go read it and find out!

Rebels is exciting, infuriating, and awesome. I can’t wait to read Warriors!

Are you freaking kidding me. I want to scream. I want to break my kindle and cry! I am absolutely in love with this book. Yet devistated at the same time. I have fallen completely in love with Em, Rouge, Zach and Nona. Ren still owns a piece of my Heart.
This is not where I thought this story was going to go. I am shocked at the twist. The development of the story keeps getting deeper and more layered. I need the next book NOW! !!!!!

*****The author provided a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.*****

Like Noffke's other books, this was close to a 4.5, so I rounded up. Rebels was a quick read with a great plot and really likeable characters. The book is incredibly suspenseful, and the danger of retribution from Vider and Em’s father lingers throughout. Not surprisingly, there are a couple of huge confrontations, but Noffke really pulls the rug out from under you with a surprising and incredibly devastating ending.

Plot:
Em sneaks back into Austin Valley to try to find out how to cure Rogue’s headaches and to check on the status of the rebellion. When she arrives, she discovers just how desperate the Rejects situation has become, and she knows that she has to act quickly before anyone else is harmed. As she does reconnaissance to find out how to bring Vider down, she begins to see how Vider got everyone under his control. She also learns her true name, its meaning, and how it fits into Reverian prophecy.

Characters:
Em is still Em, and that’s a good thing. She’s caring, protective, brave, smart … you name it. She took a lot more risks this time around, but for the most part, she thinks things through rather than just acting on emotion. Rogue is still the perfect book boyfriend. It almost made me feel a little bad about Zack, who — even though he seems suspect to me at times — is really struggling with his feelings for Em. Em still has the support of her crazy (but not so crazy grandmother) Tutu; her sister Nona, who is actually a lot like Em; and, surprisingly, Ren, who seems to respect Em even though he acts like he doesn’t like her much.

In terms of villains, Vider is still very menacing. It’s Em’s father and her sister Dee, however, who show how evil they truly are when they find Em has returned to town.

Writing:
This book has a few more typos than Noffke’s others, but I think that’s understandable when a sequel is released so soon after the first book. Even though there are some errors, they don’t distract from the story at all. In fact, the tension is so prevalent throughout the book that I doubt anything could have distracted me. Like Defects, Rebels is clean enough for younger teens, but I would probably give it a PG-13 rating, as it did include some language and violence.

The Bottom Line:
Rebels was a great read. It has pretty much everything you would want in a book: romance, action, secrets, prophecies, suspense. The only thing I didn’t like about the book was the ending. (IT. KILLED. ME.) While I am definitely not happy about what happened, there’s no way I can’t keep reading. I have to find out how everything turns out.

A brilliant, heartbreaking sequel to Defects. There is so much to say about this story I really don't know where to start. This audiobook tore my heart out and left it bleeding on the ground, both the writing and the narration portrayed perfectly the emotions felt by the characters, be it fear, sorrow, regret or acceptance of the inevitable. It not only made me cry once, but twice! The fight to overthrow Vider and stop the Defect conversation program continues to feature prominently in the storyline, it is suspenseful and action packed, but for me it is the relationships of the character that made this book standout. The characterization is excellent and the surprising and devastating twist at the end of the book leaves you breathless. As the story progresses you can not help but become even more invested in these characters lives, empathizing and associating with them. I love Nona's intelligence and humour, Ren's sarcasm, Zack's willingness to sacrifice and put his friends needs first, and of course, Em and Rouge's love. Their relationship is not a flash in the pan romance, as in most YA books, but rather it is one based on long term friendship and respect. You feel for them and want then to beat Vider, have a HEA and live out their lives in that little cottage in the woods. The complicated and often dysfunctional family relationships also adds depth to the book, Em's Farther and her sister, Dee, continue to become darker characters, betraying and manipulating at every turn. Rogues abusive farther, Vider, persists in his quest for power and in his need to destroy those who could challenge him, including Em and Rogue. On the other hand there is Tutu, Nona and, to some degree, Ren who are willing to put themselves at risk in order to support/help Em and Rogue. Rebels is a suspenseful and heart wrenching read with a great plot, surprising twists and a very well chosen narrator that is able to bring the characters to life and give them individual personalities. I can not wait for the next in the series. I received this audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my. This ending. How can I even...?

"Rebels" is a pretty strong sequel to "Defects" and a fast read. One rushes through the plot to arrive at... well... that end! Though a lot of things were to be expected and I found myself waiting for certain things to happen - which they more often than not did - I did not foresee the general direction the story would take.

Is Rogue a bit stupid for not telling Em things? Definitely. Isn't Em absolutely oblivious sometimes? Yep. But whatever, they still make a great pair of protagonists. In general, all of the good characters - Em, Rogue, Nona, Zack, Tutu - are well developed with individual personalities and little characteristics that make them human and believable. With the bad guys I still have the same problem as in book one - they are cardboard villains with about as much depth as a sheet of paper. In fact, it seems to be Em's gang against a horde of zombies with no emotions, no choices, no personality.

Having read "Rebels" it's too late for me to stop. I have to read on. Have. To. Read. On. Have. To. Read. On...

Rebels is book two in the Revarians series. In this book, M and Rouge are in hiding, while Zach, Nona, and a few other allies are still living among the Revarians gathering intelligence for a brewing war.
There were definite moments of heartache in this book, and I would dare even say the second book is better than the first.
While book one was about M discovering her world isn't at all what she's always been lead to believe it was, book two is about the cost of knowing that, the courage of owning up to it , and deciding what to do about it.
Elizabeth Klett does a wonderful job as narrator, and Sarah Noffke is a talented writer. Together they carried me into another world where having a "gift" carries its own burdens, and characters are tested. The book made me think about character, and how crisis reveals a lot about who we really are. I don't think the real world would have so many people in it who are so brave and true, but seeing them band together in this book is inspiring. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in book 3!

What a wild ride! Em takes off and comes back to Austin Valley in hopes of getting some help for Rogue but ends up making the rebellion start sooner. Em is back to her crazy antics and Rogue, Nona, and Zack are along for the ride. Rogue is sick and not getting any better. Em is trying desperately to help him. Nona is growing up and sticking with getting things set for the rebellion. And, Zack is making sure his ties with the government side of things stay so they have their intel. In the midst of everything they are forced to start the rebellion sooner. And lookout! You are in for a crazy time. The way the characters are intertwined and all their positions will pull at you emotionally. You feel every emotion Em goes through. You can laugh and cry with the same story. Beware, this is an amazing story, rollercoaster of emotions, and even some explosions...and the end! OMIGOSH! The end! Incredible! Things happen that that you will never see coming. Can't wait for the next!

“No,” I say, looking directly at him, holding my head up until it’s even against the wall. “I’m mad at you for allowing me to fall in love with you."

:'(

This is the 5th book I've read from Sarah Noffke within the the last 10 months! To have so many books come out so quickly, with such great writing, is unbelievable!
Rebels, second in the trilogy, does not disappoint! Em has left the comfort of Rogue to stop President Vider from suppressing the defects dream traveling abilities and start a war. This book is so well written. I love being Em and feeling like I am her. I feel her worry and pain. I won't give anything away, but the ending made me cry! I can't wait to continue with Em and hope she defeats Vider and saves the other defects.

Em returns to Austin Valley in order to help Rogue, but quickly becomes caught up in the fight against President Vider and her father who are destroying the Defect children. With her best friend, Zack, her sister, Nona, and Rogue by her side Em battles to save the Defects and destroy the hold Vider has on the populace.

Noffke starts Rebels, the second book in The Reverians series three months after Defects. In this fast paced, heart wrenching book the main characters introduced in the first book are much more clearly defined. We are also blessed again by appearances of Tutu and Ren, my personal favorites. The plot is darker and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

There is no way I could keep from reading the final installment of this series.

Rebels blew me away! Another win for Mrs. Noffke. She continued the drama and suspense of Defects, but everything was intensified. The cast of characters are amazing and I find I am constantly captivated, waiting on the edge of my seat to find out more. I shed a few tears at the end of this book though knowing the author's previous work, I have faith that things will turn out okay in the end. Or at least, I hope it will. I highly recommend this book that not only gets the heart racing but also sticks with you long after you've put it down.

This book is GUARANTEED to make you love and hate the author at the same time.

This sequel is AMAZING! I don't remember another book that took me through a more tumultuous emotional rollercoaster. Em, Rogue, and Zack are all back. Getting to see more outside of Austin Valley was great. I also really love Tutu. She's my favorite ancillary character. If you liked Sarah's earlier writings your in luck, because in my opinion this series is even better.

This is great follow-up to Defects. It was intense and more secrets get revealed. As I read the book it keeps getting more interesting. The side characters are getting more developed and showing more sides to them. The villain more crazier and a sad ending. I can't wait to read the next book to the series.

I rarely write reviews. But, I cried and I rarely really do that over a book.

The speech in some of the story seemed a bit oddly formal - almost unbelievable. But, the author does a great job with emotions that are very difficult to convey.

I just really enjoyed this book and was pleasantly surprised.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

This book starts where Defects left off. Rogue and Em have escaped from the valley and have been living off the land for a few months. Em had been Dream Traveling to her and Nona's special spot to get updates on what has been going on in town. Rogue's headaches have been getting worse so Em heads back to the valley in order to bring the one person back that she knows can help Rogue. Only once in town and after meeting with Zack, Nona, Tutu and a new ally she realize things need to move faster than expected.

My heart was racing when we see Rogue's Dad and then Em's Dad. Oh well what can I say about Dee she is her same usual self takes right after her mother and listens to every word her father says. I was on the edge of my seat every time they went out into the valley to do anything. I didn't like their new ally but he is starting to grow on me. We find out more things about Rogue's family. The scene in Rogue's mothers old study was an emotional read. It was heartbreaking to see Zach have to act like he was in love with Dee and then to see the hurt when he saw Rogue and Em together was heartbreaking. Ren did I mention Ren is in this book too. I love Ren he never flat out tells Em what she wants to know but gives her round about information that she has to decipher and figure out for herself. Nona what can I say I so love that girl. She is strong willed and ready to jump in and help when needed.

I am loving this series Sarah has a way of pulling you into the story making you feel like you are right there with Em, Rogue, Zack, and Nona. I wanted to throw some punches and get into the mix of things sometimes and then other times my heart was beating fast wondering if they would make it out of their situation. There were so many close calls and confrontations I was nervous to find out what was going to happen. The ending I cannot say much but I am a mess I didn't see that coming and it gutted me. All I can do is sit back and wait for the next book to find out what happens now. What will everyone do not just Em and her allies but the Defects, Middlings, and Rogue and Em Fathers.

A few of my favorites:

“Are you going to right your wrongs? Are you going to save the people you’ve unknowingly harmed?”

He shakes his head, his chaotic loose curls flowing with the movement. “Don’t explain or apologize. This simply confirms that you, Em, are absolutely a lunatic.” I halt. My breath halts. I seize to blink. “And don’t even think about changing, because you’re absolutely the most amazing person I’ve ever known,”

“You have a knack for asking extremely impossible questions, followed by trivial ones,” Ren says. “What’s the secret of life? What’s one plus one?” he squeals, doing an awful impression of me. I turn and look at Rogue, who’s actually smirking at Ren. “See, I told you, he’s super delightful.” “I am not,” Ren says, his voice dripping with offense. “Don’t you go off spreading rumors, Em. If people think that then they’ll try and strike up conversations with me.” He shivers with sudden disgust. “You know how revolting that would be?”

In only three months everything in my life has turned inside out, flipped upside down, and enlarged. It’s becoming increasingly strange to be back in Austin Valley

you’re right, he’s going to be scrambling to control the population. Which is great for me because I need an army if I’m going to lead this war.”

After I finished listening to the audio book (which is amazing by the way), my thoughts were mainly dictated in the voice of the Audible narrator, Elizabeth Klett. I also felt a bit like I was stuck in limbo, mourning the loss of one of the most wonderful characters I had ever ‘met’.

Sarah Noffke’s characters continue to develop between the suspenseful moments in this book.Em comes out of her shell a little, Rogue continues to be amazing, and Zach’s character becomes more complex. So much so that I even began to doubt his character at times. Her sisters begin to play a larger role in this book, as does Parker, the doctor.

Readers are tugged along by three main factors: Em and Rogue’s love story, the rebellion, and the mystery surrounding Rogue’s headaches. Just when you forgot about one of the factors, something new comes up within the plot. Before you know it, you’ve turned all of the pages, or completed the audiobook, and you’re in tears. Sad because of the ending, lost because you need to know what happens next, and confused because you never saw it coming (but really you did, you just don’t want to believe it).

It’s no surprise that Sarah has 5 star reviews on both Amazon and Audbile, I really hope you give her books a chance!

*Many thanks to Sarah Noffke for giving me an eCopy of her amazing book!*

Sarah Noffke has done it again!!! That was amazing!!! What a page turner! It had me sitting at the edge of my seat. Every single page is full of action, the plot thickens as more disturbing facts about Viber and his plans come to light and that ending..... oh that ending.... I have no words!!!

Loved being reunited with all the characters once again, and for a very peculiar reason I really REALLY liked Zack more than Rogue in this one! *shocking I know!!!*

I need the 3rd book in my life right now!!! October just seems too far away.... ;)

*I received a free advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really loved these characters in book 1 (Defects), and book 2 was in interesting continuation of their story. I love the dream traveler world, and will gobble up any story by Sarah Noffke set among these people. Unlike the other reviews, though, I wasn't surprised at the end. I saw it coming. This is a good book, but I did like book 1 more.
