A native of Southern California, Christine Pope has been writing stories ever since she commandeered her family’s Smith-Corona typewriter back in the sixth grade. Many reams of dead trees later, she’s happy to announce that her debut novel, Fringe Benefits, was published by Pink Petal Books on April 8, 2010. Her short fiction has appeared in Astonishing Adventures, Luna Station Quarterly, and the new journal of dark fiction, Dark Valentine. Her paranormal novella, Playing With Fire, was released on August 5, 2010.
While Fringe Benefits is a straight contemporary romance, she writes in a variety of genres, including paranormal romance, fantasy, horror, science fiction, and historical romance. She blames this on being easily distracted by bright, shiny objects, which could also account for the size of her shoe collection.
After spending many years in the magazine publishing industry, she now works as a freelance editor in addition to writing fiction. She lives with her husband and an explosively fluffy Pomeranian mix. Her house is pink, but don’t hold that against her.
This book set is great I really enjoyed Sarra Cannon books and a few others of note The Noru book 1 was really good can't wait to get the next one. I bring the fire I had already read good story just details are bland but still a good one. I think most people will find something to read in this
Of the 9 full books in this free set, the best stories were: christine pope's "chosen" & "beyond the veil" both were good series to finish, and i did; deanna chase's "marked by temptation" was VERY SEXY and enthralling...loved it sara roethle's "vampires, werewolves & demons, oh my" was an entertaining book. The 1st in the xoe meyers YA paranormal series, has many supernaturals involved in the story, which i enjoy, but is a YA series and i prefer mature adult books. melinda vanlone's "stronger than magic" was a very lengthy, confusing book, but otherwise kept me interested enough to complete it, by doing some skimming over some parts of it to get to the ending. I DO love the way it ended though... that the love they shared was recognized and had a future, and also that i was finally done with this book! The editors and authors have put together an excellent selection of books. Well-written and well-developed characterization makes this a go to book selection for those getting into this genre. Adult readers
If I am being completely honest, I only enjoyed a couple books within this books set. I really enjoyed ‘Marked by Temptation’ and ‘Behind the Vail’ but other than that I ended up skipping through a lot of the stories they just seemed to drag on and on or didn’t capture my attention
Demons and djinn, angels and werewolves, elementals, dolphins, and witches—this box set has it all—even one of the more intriguing vampire books I’ve read lately (Sarra Cannon’s “Sacrifice Me”) with its likeable heroine and birthday rite of passage that begins with a bouquet of black roses and a shot of a magical elixir called “Red Dragon.” Every writer involved offers a spunky heroine who triumphs over adversity, whether it’s Christine Pope’s end-of-the-world survivor (“Chosen”) or Kate Danley’s redheaded psychic widow Clara who is the heroine of “A Spirited Manor.” (Fans of “Penny Dreadful” take note—the author nails the tone and spirit of that entertaining show.) Lola St. Vil’s “The Noru” is an excellent origin story with a protagonist whose power is very unusual and original. Also of note is S.M. Reine’s “Death’s hand,” with its riveting opening sequence set in Russia. The best part of picking up boxed sets like this is that it gives you a chance to sample work by writers you don’t know and I made a couple of new discoveries with this selection. (I definitely will be back for more Sarra Cannon. I loved her alpha vampire and the world of her story. The heroine’s backstory is complicated and what we find out about it only makes us like her more.)
Free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. Wow! Thirteen books in one bundle. This is a really good value for your money as you are getting 13 books for the price of one, full of fascinating fantasy worlds, intersting characters and a lot of action. These are the stories to sink your teeth into if you are looking for an escapist read. My favorite book was Beyond the Veil by Pippa Dacosta. I loved her fantasy world build-up, gritty and a little dark storyline and complex characters, Muse, Stephan and especially Akhil. Oh, Akhil, my worlds are failing me! I miss him already and want more of him! Another good read was Sacrifice Me by Sarra Cannon. After reading many vampire stories that flooded the market in recent years I did not think I would be able to find a fresh take on vampires but Sarra Cannon proved me wrong and surprised me with her unique take on them. As there are 13 books in total, this bundle will keep me busy for a while. I am looking forward to discovering something new and interesting with every book.
This whole set sounds great! I've only read Marked by Temptation by Deanna Chase, but look forward to reading the others as well. Here is my review for Marked by Temptation. I love that Deanna Chase is doing a spin-off of the Jade Calhoun series! What is even better is that it is off to a fantastic start!!! Vaughn and Mati are really interesting and have great chemistry! When you mix in a super exciting storyline, you get the great book that you usually get from Deanna Chase. I have a feeling Coven Pointe has a whole lot of really good tales to share with us, and I can't wait to read them! While this is considered a novella, it is just as thrilling as a book, and it pairs up extremely well with Shadows of Bourbon Street. It was awesome reading the events that happened in Shadows from some different perspectives. I also really enjoyed how the story moved between Vaughn and Mati's characters. Really great!
I received an ARC for an honest review from Sarra Cannon.
This is a review for Sarra Cannon's "Sacrifice Me."
Sarra does an amazing job writing, I find her books very enjoyable.
The story is a continuation of her Peachville High Demons series, but don't worry, it can be read alone.
This story is told by a couple different characters point of view. I was worried that it would be difficult reading the different views, but I needn't have worried. Sarra does an excellent job expressing their feelings and views that it was actually very easy to keep up. Also, each character can be related to without any confusion what so ever as to who was telling the story.
The background information flows beautifully and doesn't make you feel like you are reading the PHD series a second time.
I`ll start by saying that while I have only fully read two of the novels in this collection, I feel confident in stating that this collection is worth owning. I`ll just give you a little review of the two titles I have finished, Chosen (Christine Pope) and Three Wishes (Debra Dunbar).
Chosen is the story of Jessica as she struggles for survival in a world ravaged by a terrible plague and Jace who appears just as she is about to give up all hope. Solid read with a nice cliffhanger of an ending! Three Wishes is a spin off novel from Debra Dunbar's Imp Series and contains the same fast pace and delightfully twisted humor. Having read the entire Imp series, this novel really highlighted how much I enjoy the character of Dar! I totally devoured this book in one sitting.
I can`t wait to see what other gems I find in this collection, I highly recommend it.
Jinn's Wish ~ Marie Hall - 3 stars Paz has a chance to find her one true love and she thinks it's all over when she has an accident and ends up in a coma. Little did she know the man of her dreams would end up being her one true love.
Jinni's tale was incredibly sad to hear. The development of jinni and Paz' relationship did not ring true for me. I didn't feel the connection between them that I wanted.
Sacrifice Me: the Complete First Season ~ Sarra Cannon
I Bring the Fire Part One (A Loki Story) ~ C. Gockel
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. What an amazing collection of stories for the price of one book. I was surprised to see that this collection was not just a collection of short stories or teaser to the actual book. They are complete books, yes some are book one to a series, but in looking at the individual books, most of them cost more than the price of this collection. I have already read Beyond the Veil, by Pippa DeCosta, one of my favorite series and the book that started me reading Urban Fantasy. The Chosen, by Christine Pope is a series that I plan on continuing. There are also some very good stand alone novels. If you love Urban Fantasy, and those sexy Demons, you need to get this collection of books written by some really talented authors.
This is a review for Marked by Temptation by Deanna Chase. Wow!. I fell in love with Mati and Vaughn in the Bourbon Street Series but I absolutely love them even more now. This is a novella that is about how Mati and Vaughn actually met and kind of gives more details into what happened to Mati in Shadows of Bourbon Street. This book is told in both Mati and Vaughn's point of views. There are a lot of sex scenes in this book which should be expected considering Mati is a sex witch. Anyways this book was amazing, I cant wait for more Mati and Vaughn. I think I may like them more than Jade and Kane now. Wonderful read!
That was a long slog - not surprising, there was a lot of books to get through. Overall, this was an interesting collection from authors with different "voices". Several of YA and NA stories ( I am not really a big fan - been one, survived raising two with sanity mostly intact, can do without all the angst). The most interesting world building - The Noru by Lola St.Vil. The one that annoyed me to no end - Xoe by Sara C. Roethe - I don't really need the full description of everyone's attire, every time, ALL the time. This is a smorgasbord - most reader's will find something they might enjoy.
Demons & Djinn ~ 13 Complete Novels Featuring Demons, Djinn, and Other Bad Boys of the Underworld (Kindle Edition) I received a gifted copy for my honest review. Wow! thought I was getting a good deal from one of my favorite author's Liz Schulte, but I was wrong. Instead I got an AWESOME set of books in one!! This set ended up being jam packed with some of my top 10 go to authors like Deanna Chase and SM Reine. These three ladies stories are worth the money alone plus you get ten more!!
I have only managed to read a few of the books so far but will definitely be making my way through the rest.
I love Sarra Cannons Sacrifice me, the descriptions of her stories and the characters have you hooked from the start. Even better is how she incorporates the Peachville high characters which gives you a familiar feel, although this does not affect a brilliant read if you have not read the other books.
Overall, enjoyed reading the books within this book. I was able to read a few others that were available free or Unlimited, so reading "this entire set" within this book, took some time. There was at least one written where it kept jumping years then all the sudden, you were reading 10 yeas prior??? I find those annoying and hard to follow, but I did read the whole story and yes there is another in the series, I won't be looking that one up.
Hardcore fiction...not just fluffy mommy pornography. Most of these are extremely well thought out and written. I enjoyed this collection immensely This is one of the largest collaboration s I have read.
Each book in this collection will grab your imagination and not let go!
Something for everyone! Demons, vampires, angels, shifters,....you name it! I want to read the sequel to each story. So many talented authors in this collection!
This is a collection of nine novels that involve werewolves, vampires and other supernatural creatures. Unfortunately I am only found two books worth reading and the others below the standards of the two I liked.
I really enjoyed these stories, a bit more editing would have been nice, but not a deal breaker, I also found several new authors that I am looking forward to following. If you are a Demon or Djinn fan, you just gotta get this collection!!
This has the Imp Series novel, Three Wishes, included in its entirety. So if you got it on sale for 99 then you can read the full novel of Dar and Asta getting together. It is a pretty good UF with a romance, spiced with humor.
