Z-Burbia #6

Rocky Mountain Die

Rate this book
From Asheville to Knoxville, Cannibal Road to the Tomb, Jace Stanford and the Whispering Pines survivors have been on the run and fighting for their lives non-stop.
Now, with the plains to their backs, the crew are just steps from their destination: The Stronghold of Boulder, CO. All they have to do is make it through the nightmare that is Denver, CO. While running from the mega-powerful, corporate/political/military entity that is the Consortium. And dealing with the brainwashed killing machines that call themselves the Sisters. Not to mention a crazy mad scientist hell bent on making life really, really hard for everyone.
Oh, and there’s the issue of the horde of zombies that’s close to half a million strong. Yeah, that’s kind of a bummer.
But, hey, if anyone can get his friends and family through a nightmare like this, it’s Jace Stanford, right? Right?
Okay, they're probably screwed.

I can't believe that ending, it made me sad

BUT <---- There is a next book all about Elsbeth and her sisters so I'm looking forward to reading it this month. Jake Bible also states at the back of the book that there are more books about the Stronghold that's in this book and the people and stuff. I'm still sad though.

Jace and the gang are fighting to get to the Stronghold. They have zombies and evil people after them and Jace has had brain surgery that didn't go all that great. But, he's still sarcastic and funny as usual.

I wish I could talk about the end of the book but I don't want to give out the spoilers, but it did bring a tear to my eye. Just d*mn.

I have loved these books and will revisit them again and again and maybe skip over the ending of this one. Although, there are things to be said about going out in a blaze of glory!

And Elsbeth will always be my hero and she will continue on until she's 105, but that's just my opinion =)

THIS IS THE FINAL BOOK!! THIS IS THE END OF THE SERIES!!!

Sorry I felt that seriously needed to be stressed! Today was going great for me. Started another Z-Berbia, laughing my ass off at Jace, Stella, and their rag tag squad. Then shit in the book got real and by real I mean REAL shit-fucked!

WTF!?! I was not prepared for what went down. I was definitely not ready for the series to end (especially like that). What an emotional smack down.

Yeah yeah, in the authors note at the end it says the story will continue with the sisters journals, mech books, etc. But I don't think its understood I read these books and fell in love with the series reading it from Jason Standford's POV. Without his mental ramblings and witty inter monologue I just don't see the point.

I need time to come to terms with Long Pork's story coming to an end before I try another series by this author. If the other books have characters that can make me laugh like Jace I'm on board. Either way I need a HEA to recover from the abrupt ending to this series and the emotional trama. lol

Jake Bible, you rotten fucker! WTF, man! Who the hell would've guessed I'd be crying by the end of this book? Not me. But here I am, bawling. I love this series so damn much. That ending stabbed me right in the feels. I wasn't even slightly prepared for the emotional ending that was dished out. Ouch. My unsuspecting heart.

WOW!

What a way to wrap up the series! I would be lying if I said I didn't cry when the main characters met their end. It was such an amazing series, and would highly recommend it to everyone!!

As you know, ive laughed through this whole series all the way until 2 or 3 chapters before the end... then i got sad. alot of my favorite characters died along the way and many survived. this had been a ride and i really wish people would have remembered a certain character because then they would have been ready for them..but i mean suspense and sadness needs to be in a good book and we got alot of that too all in all a great book and a good end to the series . im not sure what im going to read next and i hope its funny and thrilling... though i have no clue who will live up to long pork. this needs to be a mini series!!!

This was a great audiobook of this series the ending was very sad of what happened to the Stanford family, the sisters and many other characters in the story as well on the consortium and the zombies.
The ending is very sad but so full of hope for a new and better world.
Hope you enjoy series as much as I did.

So sad to see it end. Well, to listen to it end. Some crazy blackout, hypnosis, brain lesions, madness going on in this one; but, the crew finally come to their destination in Colorado. Horribly sad events extinguish the mood, but at least it wasn't boring and predictable.

I want to hate it but I have to respect it. More ups and downs beset Long Pork, and the downs outweigh the ups this time.

Better than the last two or three books in this series, but still not quite great.

I didn't know going in that this book is an ending of sorts, and if I had I might have judged it a lot more harshly. I went through the early chapters in the usual easy-reading comfort zone that is all too easy to achieve with these books and only started picking up towards the last third of the book how some story lines were starting to wind up.

I say some because by no means are all story lines tied up with this book. There're lots of unanswered questions and open stories that I am sure will be picked up going forward. However, enough are wrapped up to make this an ending of sorts.

And about that ending... please be warned, we're going into spoiler territory here...

Overall, this was a series with just as many downs as ups, but was enjoyable overall. The 4th star on this review is more for the enjoyment factor of the overall series than any merits of this book individually.

It's a 3-star book in a 3.5-4-star series, so I'm giving it a 4 overall.

It's the last push to reach safety for Long Pork and his very extended family. Lots of fighting, swearing, laughs and tears as Jace carries on with his bumbling, brilliant plans, stumpageddon and his "thoughts out loud". There is continuous action, with barely a moment to catch your breath throughout the whole book.
Jake Bible has a way of making his characters come alive which had me glued to this book from beginning to end, I was truly saddened to reach the last page and surprised by the ending itself. I am pleased that there will be other stories to come because there is definitely more to be told.
I have nothing but praise for this series, the portrayal of HOAs, the insane but funny heroes and the (very believable) bad guys drunk on their own power.

This was an exciting, scary, disturbing (at times), hilarious (frequently), and enormously entertaining series. My pre-teen daughter and I read and listened via audible to every book in the series. We both loved them all!

Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys post-apocalyptic/zombie books and also has a somewhat dark and very strong sense of humor. This series has been unconventional throughout and managed to stay fresh and new until the very end.

I had grown so attached to the characters, I admit I was sad to have it end. But ... I've already started picking up the books and rereading them when I'm in need of a laugh. "You know, bro?" :)

Wow

It's hard to keep coming up with unique situations and solutions to those situations but Jake bible does it with a F*ck ton of humor and violence. I like the characters, scratch that, I love the characters. I recommend it for the horror/humor crowd.
Honestly, it's hard for me to give the proper praise and appreciation without giving away the whole book. So, I'll just say that when I finished reading it, it stayed in my mind and I couldn't start another book before I wrote something to say thank you.

Is this really the end????

Omg I loooove this series! I sped thru this book in one night....could not put it down! I would say more but don't want to give anything away since I hate reviews that are full of spoilers or just a synopsis of the book. I mean why read it if you already know what happens, right? Anyway, if you haven't read this series yet I highly recommend it. Lots of action, great humor, a hero with a knack for finding trouble...this series has it all...

Excellent yet again. Great series of books, sad to have it come to an end. Loved the sisters, thanks again Mr Bible for making women central, intelligent characters and not just fluff fillers. Love Stella and Elsbeth in particular. If you haven't read anything by this author give it a go you wont be disappointed. Will really miss Jace.

The end made my lip quiver

I've read this whole series, and I'm sad that it's sort of ended. I loved Jace's constant chatter (internal and external) and his wit/sense of humor. Elsbeth (the reformed cannie) also shined in this installment. The book was a fast, fun read. If u enjoy zombie apocalypse books, I recommend this whole series.

I hate to see it end

I've loved reading this series and this final book in the Z-burbia series did not disappoint. I'm so glad the book did not end on a hanger and that there are still many more stories to be told. The Stanfords totally rocked the Z apocalypse.

Okay Jake Bible, really!? Please don't leave us (the friends of the rag tag crew of long pork and his pals like this.)
That is all I can write right now. This may be just the start of my review but I just don't feel emotionally ready to give the rest.

Didn't want it to end

I read all six Z-Burbja books consecutively and thoroughly enjoyed the series. I was surprised at how sad I was at the end of the final book both for the fact that it was over as well as the way the author wrote the final chapters.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the series, personally I thought this didn't meet the expectations from the other books.. The ending felt rushed and I was left wanting more. Now reading the sisters book relating to the series. Would recommend the series

One of the best post-apocalyptic series! Fast, fun, frightful, and fearlessly funny. Jake Bible is one of the most imaginative writers bringing the reader vividly into his world (brain). I can't recommend his books enough!

This ended up being a really good series. Anyone who likes smart-assery and zombies will enjoy this series. Just be sure to start with the first one and read them in order. It's really just one big storyline divided up into separate novels.
