A short story from the world of Pajaro Bay. He's home with the flu. She's stuck at work. They each think this is going to be the worst Valentine's Day ever. But before the day is done, they'll solve a crime--and find each other--all thanks to a lost little pup and a tiny bit of luck.
If you had of told me previously that I would enjoy these light romances with mystery I would have slapped you silly. I simply DON'T DO romance, but I'll definitely do these because, as the author puts it - "The Pajaro Bay stories are filled with light and breezy, heartwarming fun, and always leave you with a happy ending." They just leave you feeling good without any over mushiness and each book or short story has a serious "theme" to it. Immensely satisfying quick read.
This was one of the deeper shorts of the series with a subtle, funny, and YES! @ the villain getting his due. Lost a star because ... I'm not sure what was funny. Kudos for the Public Service Announcement.
Wow, what a lot of information and action is this short little story. Josephine Anderson has fallen down the stairs in her home and broken her leg. The nursing home won't let her have her almost tea-cup size puppy with her while she convalesces. She is not happy about the situation. Her neighbor sees her nephew, Clint leave her home with her flat screen TV and some other items. Later, he throws some rags off the porch before he drives off in his car in a hurry. Cliff Pham, the neighbor, being neighborly, goes to pick up the rags so the yard looks nice. But they are not rags, they are the wrappings around the puppy, Strudel!
To write more, would give too many clues about this charming story!
This book has a lot to say in a short story. Josephine is convalescing in a nursing home with a broken leg but she is very despondent. They won’t allow her to have her little dog, Strudel. When her observant neighbor sees her nephew removing things from her house and then throwing rags into her yard, he goes to clean them up. There he finds that her nephew discarded her puppy and he takes it in. This kind hearted neighbor starts the wheels of justice turning. A short story with a moral and a happy ending!
Short but sweet introduction to the Pajaro Bay series. Trigger warning for domestic violence but the villain gets his due. Looking forward to continuing the series. Ms. Lee has a deft hand with plotting & her characters are engaging and true to life. *Received free as a newsletter subscriber & this review is honestly & freely given.
My Funny Valentine by Barbara Cool Lee is a sweet romance with mystery that is easily resolved by two awkward but charming characters. I always enjoy visiting Pajaro Bay and this book did not disappoint.
It was a fun and easy read. A little predictive but it was a novella. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would like to read more from the Parajaro Bay stories.
I really enjoyed this short story. A woman breaks her leg and has to go to a facility for care. Her dog is rescued by her neighbor. He takes the dog to the local vet, whom he had dated once. There is a mystery to solve. Very entertaining. Highly recommended.
My Funny Valentine is another short story from Barbara Cool Lee about the quirky and appealing characters of Pajaro Bay. This is the second little book I’ve read in this series and I was just as pleased as I was with A Christmas Miracle in Pajaro Bay.
Once again, the author has woven an entertaining and engaging story in just thirty-nine pages. Just like A Christmas Miracle in Pajaro Bay, My Funny Valentine is a standalone story filled with romance, drama, villains and likable characters (and one very unlikable character). Ms. Lee touches on a few hot button topics that are sure to elicit strong emotions – animal cruelty and domestic violence to name two. I found myself despising the offender and hoping he’d be stopped before he could do anymore damage.
I really enjoy this author’s writing style. She’s able to pack a lot of narrative into a few short pages. These short books can be read in no time, yet readers come away with a wonderfully crafted tale!
This was a good story for awareness about domestic violence and abuse. You really disliked Trip (the jerk abuser) and really felt for Mrs. Anderson and her little dog (recipients of the abuse.) It was a good story for Valentine’s Day.
