All for Lorne

Rate this book

Cass and her best friend Jen go on a tour of Scotland based on a well-loved historical novel and find themselves captured by medieval Highland warriors. What’s a girl to do when her favorite fantasies come right off the page and try to bite her in the ass? Cass’s geek-chic fashion gives the warriors the impression she’s a boy, and she’s determined to keep it that way. Her smart mouth and take-no-prisoners attitude get her into trouble, but her skill in tae-kwon-do usually manages to get her out.

Moody bladesmith Lorne Alisdair finds himself inexplicably and unnervingly attracted to the strange and irrepressible boy named Cass. When he discovers her secret, he’s relieved and even more intrigued. He knows what he wants—Cass’s body—and lucky for him, she wants him to have it.

Lorne the sexy highlander and Cassandra the goth girl from the future.
Another fun sassy read by one of my fave authors. Don't expect a lot of historical accuracy, but just enough to give the story flavour.
Cass and her friend Jen don't realize that they've gone back in time while visiting Scotland, until a group of Beefy Highlanders kidnap them. They think Jen is a French woman betrothed to an enemy. They grab Cass, 'cause they think she's Jen's 'male' companion. I kept snickering every time they blamed France on their 'oddities'. Made me think of the Coneheads from SNL (snicker).
The story is pretty tongue in cheek and not entirely predictable. The characters are entertaining and stay 'in character'.
It's a fun romp with entertaining, witty dialogue and comical situations. Quite romantic, if a bit rushed.

This is a short, hot and steamy time travel story that I really enjoy. I’m not a huge fan of novellas due to the time constraints the story allows, and while this one definitely has a rushed feel to it, I really enjoyed it. I love the woman mistaken as a boy trope, the time travel trope and Scottish Highlanders so it won me on all those counts. It’s got a couple of great secondary characters that are also falling in love and a bit of shock factor regarding this couples first and second time intimacies but I loved it all the same. This author has definitely won me over with her heroes and heroines as well as the dedication her heroes always have regarding the heroine. I highly recommend you check out this former Ellora’s Cave romance that is currently free via her newsletter.

3 stars. This was good for a short story, but I do think there could have been more to it. It felt a little too fast moving for me; the MCs went from zero to love in one day. I don’t mind love at first sight, but I do mind the confession of love so quickly. They barely know each other, except for biblically.

Safety was fine overall, no om/ow, hero seemed pretty promiscuous. Heroine gives him a BJ while he’s asleep which was dub con.

All for Lorne is an early novella by one of my favorite authors, Alice Coldbreath. The story was pretty rushed, and it was much rougher than what the author writes now, but it did have that unique feel that I love about her books.

Cass, and her best friend Jen, accidentally travel back in time while visiting a Scottish castle. They are immediately kidnapped by a group of highland warriors. The warriors think that Jen is betrothed to one of their enemies and that Cass is a small man because of her clothes and short hair. Lorne, one of the warriors, is ordered to keep an eye on Cass while the clan's leader tries to woo Jen.

There were some problematic things in this novella. There was dubious consent when Cass began intimate relations with Lorne while he was asleep, and Lorne was pretty rough with Cass in the beginning when he thought she was a man. I also wasn't a fan of how much Lorne told Cass about his past sexual history, although, to be fair, from the moment Lorne saw Cass, he only had eyes for her.

1.5 stars. I'm sorry I can't rate this any higher. No matter how much fun I find Alice Coldbreath's writing, this story line just couldn't be saved. The h's actions didn't make any sense. There was no resolution to the why of the story. Unexplained time travel? Um, what? The insta-love that the MCs claimed to have was unsubstantiated and underdeveloped. I know this is a novella, but still. And to cap it off, there's no epilogue, so we have HFN and an unresolved rip in time. Unfortunately, this was a miss for me.

Good read!
I love the woman pretending to be a man plot- and add to that time travel- I had higher expectations from this book!
I liked how she took revenge from him as a man by blowing him- but once identities are revealed things get rushed and I was dissatisfied with the ending.
a few good sexy scenes
Safe read 3/5

Look - I loved moments of this, there were some seriously hot things that happened. But the rape and homophobia were wayyyy not okay. Also - she buys that betrothal broach, says she hadn’t gotten around to reading about the maker on the card it came with - turns out Loren sketches the same broach - why was there never any scene were she finally reads it at the end - and it has a brief few lines about how the rumour of it’s origins is from a some super romantic folk story or something? Just some basic follow through.

I really really loved this..... Just to little prob.s for me....

Ok,Time Travel but the girl pretending to be a guy trope ?!???
Aaaaaaaaaaaa ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ LOVE THAT!!!!
Count me in!!!! Love Time travel and though for some reason ( Not counting "Outlander") the Scottish Highlands seems be a favorite place to go,that's great I'd love to wake up w/a rugged sexy highlander or Hell even two if I were soo blessed in my bed ;) And the girl/woman pretending to be a guy trope ?!? I also deeply, deeply Love!!! There's just something rather naughty and bit wicked and delicious about a guy/man starting to want/crave/love and desire a someone that feels forbidden and or taboo, where he fears he craves some hing he shouldn't ,like possible his own gender.... But we as readers know all the pain and inner turmoil and angst he struggles w/while kinda beautiful and erotic in its own way at times it all for naught because she's secretly a woman and it's all really "safe" per say ... Honestly this is kinda a personal twisted guilty pleasure for me .... Why ? Well ,it's weird while ( odd as this will sound) I'm not into m/m, ( I mean to mean reading about some man getting what I'm currently not, is kinda like going starving to a banquet to watch other ppl eat... Where's the fun in that ? At least w/a woman as the h I can read and pretend it's me getting the yummy sexy alpha male
