This book follows the trilogy. And this is the first one. I have watched the first movie a few times.

I guess this illustration style isn't my thing for Star Wars. (Why is Qui-Gon's nose so big?)

"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... The peaceful planet of Naboo is under a blockade from the greedy Trade Federation!"

I managed to get my hands on a lovely bindup of the Skywalker saga little golden book versions, so I have now happily began reading these super wholesome, cute, little kids' versions of my fave films of all time. And of course I began with episode one (I am one of those people who always do their rewatches in chronological order).

Courtney Carbone did a good job adapting the Phantom Menace to a very young audience. She focused on the important beats and the core of the story, and brushed aside some of the stuff that I remember didn't quite make sense to me when I was a small child, like all the stuff in the senate - which are now, funnily enough, some of my fave scenes in TPM!

The art by Heather Martinez is very charming and cute. She drew Anakin as especially adorable.

These are for very tiny humans, but honestly, I think you can enjoy these at any age. They are fun to flip through cause the art is so sweet, and who doesn't love reliving their fave films every now and then?

Being an adult one could say that I am not the target audience but being an avid Star Wars and Darth Maul fan I had to have this in my collection so I will give it a short review from a mature perspective.

The illustrations were pretty enough although I was not a big fun of the design of the characters' faces, especially Qui Gon's. The whole book felt a bit short and while covering all the important events I feel that it could be longer and contain more of Jar Jar's shenanigans since he was the main kid oriented character in the movie.

All in all it was a fun little thing and while not adding anything special to the Star Wars universe it was a fun way to spend a couple of minutes for a couple of euros.

"Star Wars: The Phantom Menace" is science fiction novel by George Lucas which is about a young boy named Anakin who lives on the planet Tatooine with his mother, Shmi. The plot is about saving Queen Amidala from the attacks by the Trade Federation and Darth Maul. I would rate this book four out of five stars because they were a few plot holes but it was overall engaging. I would recommend this book to all ages because it does not seem to target any specific audience.

Disney and audible released a batch of audio adaptations of some of the golden books today, along with a brand new original audible story, which isn't on goodreads yet.

I've always wanted to check out these golden books as a fun little thing, but never wanted to spend the money on them.

These are just cute fun retelling of the movies and other content. The audibles are only 10 mins max, but they are definitely worth checking out.

This book is great for parents and kids who already enjoy the Star Wars movies, but are simple enough for new readers/fans to understand what's going on. It introduces the characters well and explains harder concepts like the Force. This book is a great adaptation of the movie and fun for kids to read alongside parents in case there are any questions!

I admit I an adult with no kids, read this. I read books of all types and ages to always have something to recommend and my little cousin has a Star Wars collection. I think this book is a cute picture version of the movie. Admittedly not as in depth, but it is a kids book. It does its job. 5 stars.

Part of a bundle of Spanish-language children's books that I'm using to practice. I probably wouldn't these to Goodreads, but (a) I'm a completionist, and (b) I'm wanting to create a shelf of Spanish books/translations that I've read, to track my improvement.

If I can honestly say that the book wasn't as good as the movie, and the movie was The Phantom Menace, I think there's something wrong. And I like the prequels.

The Phantom Menace wasnt my favorite and this book also felt a little disjointed (my own bias). Too much happening and my daughter asked me a bunch why and what and how?

This was a cute edition of the first book in the Star Wars prequels trilogy and my daughter really enjoyed it! She liked the bright colors and simple format. Over simplified but well done!

I liked it but I think I need to watch it. The thing I liked the most was how they won the fight.

This book is the other side of the movie that I haven't seen. And as they always say, the book is better than the movie. That applies to this book as well. The characters are the same as we see in the movie, but somewhat better than seeing them on the movie screen. A draw back to the book is that it takes longer to finish, but that makes little impact to my final feelings towards the book. Over all, this book has earned the five stars it was given. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes the star wars saga.

The interpretation of star was: the phantom menace was very good and is simple for new fans of the movie(even though the prequels are not as good as the first).it might as well be the script because how well it was described and put into words.and it introduces the characters well and the story of the Jedi and there story and the planet of naboo the blockade. And how the Jedi where sent to help end it but get more trouble.

I would like to watch all the Star Wars movies before the release of the brand new movie in December. Saw these Little Golden Book Star Wars books and knew my little girl would love them. There are six of them for each of the movies. They serve as a Cliff notes version for me;) I really liked "The Phantom Menace" story and illustrations.

Yet another take of the Phantom Menace storyline. Redundant in many ways, but The Phantom Menace era is known for that of course. The artwork is average at best and the storyline is extremely edited down. I wouldnt usually harp on this being its a childrens book, but other kids books on the Phantom Menace do it much better than this.

A wonderful new way to experience a galaxy far far away. This first volume in the Golden Books series gives a concise telling of events from Episode I. I loved the art in this volume and that the creators were female

I love the fact that they are getting the little ones "hyped-up" for the new Star Wars movie. The story is close to the film. Loved the illustrations and it was very easy to read. So getting ready for the Star Wars movie, can't wait!

A really nice straightforward and fun version of the story of the first Star Wars movie. Beautiful and sometimes amusing illustrations. The story is told well without missing anything important but does allow for a young reader to get through the whole book in one sitting.

I read this and two other Little Golden Books to a four-year-old who is obsessed with Star Wars. I learned more from these books than I knew before, even having seen some of the movies -- when I was a kid, though. They seem to do a decent job summing things up in a way that makes sense.
