In the wild, romantic years of the Rocky Mountain gold rush anything could happen -- and usually did. So Aaron Court was not so surprised when he rode in to Amnonville to find it engulfed in flames. What did surprise him was the vision of beauty he saw standing on the blazing balcony of the Fallen Angel brothel.
Thinking she was the town's newest tart, Court did more than nurse her injuries on the night of the rescue. Yet he could never forget the burning passion they'd shared, or the driving need he felt to once again possess his...
This book started on a high note. I did initially liked the character of Aaron Court. It was an idea of a western lawyer that appealed to me. I was hoping it would be someone a little more refined then the general crowd of western macho men. I was mistaken. Very mistaken in the hero. Our heroine on the other hand, I was gaining respect for. However, the second half of the book takes such a sharp turn down the hill that I almost couldn’t finish it. By the time I got to the last quarter, I was disgusted and couldn’t figure out how will author make it into happy ending. She has dig herself in to a ditch and didn’t get out.
although it was an easy read and interesting storyline what bother me all through the book that the reader get's the impression that since there was a certain attraction bewtween Court and Susanna it was acceptible that he overpowered her and ignored Susanna's objections. This favores the idea that :she said no ... but she means yes. This was upsetting to me. Court raped her various times!!! I saw this was written before the Me Too! I hope we are wiser now and see this behavior for what it is.
this book is weird! he sleeps with her when she is drugged and she doesn't remember...so stupid! it's dragging and I don't like the characters. did this heroine grow up in space? how can you not know what goes on at her sisters place? there are clues everywhere! the heroine is stupid and the hero is a rapist of young helpless girls! and a lier! stupid book!
