What game is she playing?Rowan hadn't seen Lillian in over a year-not since she broke his heart and killed his father in one fell swoop-so why would she pick today to just show up outside his favorite coffee shop, dressed in outlandish clothes and pretending she doesn't recognize him. Is she turning to Tristan now in some pathetic effort to drive them apart? Why insist her name is Lily? And where is her Willstone? Her wild claims of being from a parallel world are just crazy and pathetic...right?Get a glimpse of Rowan's side of the story in this thrilling e-short edition to The Worldwalker Trilogy by internationally bestselling author Josephine Angelini.

I am a #1 international bestselling author, a Massachusetts native, and the youngest of eight siblings. I graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in theater with a focus on the classics and now live in Los Angeles with my husband and daughter.
This was so disappointing. It looked as if it was a long novella from Rowan's PoV (HELL YEAH!!) but it wasn't. I think it wasn't even two chapters long.
Definitely. Not. Enough.
Yes, now I want to re-read Trial by Fire like crazy because I miss it and I realized there are some things I don't remember quite well, but this was way too short, the "she could have posted this on her blog or something" kind of short. Even though I loved his PoV, it didn't necessarily mean I thought it was well written. It didn't give me a lot of insight and let's just say that if you don't remeber every single thing that happened at the beginning of Trial by Fire, you'll feel like you're not getting the whole picture but you're missing out on something important, since the author glissed over many dialogues and such.
The writing was good and I enjoyed Rowan's voice but I just wasn't pleased with this. What I wanted from this is to answer some of my questions leftover from Trial by Fire and Firewalker, but what I got was a retelling of the beginning of Firewalker.
For me, the point of novellas is to offer an extra layer to the main story. This just felt like I was re-living Trial by Fire.
Wait. What?! Stop. I just spent two dollars on this book thinking that I'll finally get an entire story from Rowan's point of view. But it just ends when Rowan finallly believe that Lily isn't Lillian. What?! That's it? I can't believe that I just wasted two dollars on a book I could have just read the free version of. So disappointed.
As soon as I saw that there was a Rowan novella for this series, I pre-ordered it (which sounds kind of ridiculous, I realize)! I dove into this immediately, and was thrilled when it seemed to be a very lengthy novella. I loved getting to see the events from Trial by Fire unfolding from Rowan’s point of view. But then, at 20%, something horrible happened… The novella was OVER and then began a preview of the books in the series. WHAT? Nooooo! I wanted WAY more Rowan. This is the first novella I’ve regretted paying money for because it was SO SHORT. I liked what WAS there, but damn, what a let-down.
Omg this one had so much potential! But it was SO short and definitely not worth the money! I can't believe this is even $2.
I loved reading in Rowan's point view. We got to see how he really felt when he met Lily for the first time. I loved reading about his point of view when he thought Lily was Lillian and his struggle to hate and love Lily at the same time.
BUT!!! It was cut short. I'm giving you guys a warning now. This book promises 141 pages but only a quarter of it was in Rowan's point of view. The rest was a sample of the first book. I only read the rest of the book to make the most of my $2. I guess it was good to read the sample before I go onto the third book. I almost forgot how fragile Lily was before she became a witch. But then again, I could have done that with the actual first book that I have a copy of -.-
It was good but way too short, barely 30 pages. I was expecting to read more from his POV. I feel like we could have gotten much more from his perspective, which is probably why i gave it a 3.5 instead of a 4. Still, i'm glad i could get a glimpse through Rowan's eyes!
Ugh! I should have read all the reviews before I bought this one. I thought it was the whole first book from rowans POV but its only until he knows that Lily's not Lillian and the rest of the book is just the beginning of Trial by Fire so it seems longer.
What a disappointment, I was expecting more. When I read here that it was 140 pages I thought, "that's good, I'll have enough to read and I will see things from Rowan's perspective." I never been so wrong.
The book ends with 20% yes 20%, which should take around 28 pages, the rest are the first chapters of Trial by Fire. Regarding the story itself is a repeat of Trial by Fire, I already known that from the start, but this time we have Rowan's point of view. I liked to read a little bit more about him and how he sees things. We have more details about him and I think it was very interesting.
Now as you can imagine 28 pages equals 1 or 2 chapters. I enjoyed reading it but couldn't have a closer view of Rowan's feelings of Rowan or how he thinks. I think it served more to revive my memory in order to buy the second book in the series and keep everything fresh in my mind.
I will not say it was a waste of time, because I really like this author and these characters, but it was a big disappointment because I was waiting for more, so much more.
Josephine Angelini’s Rowan is a very short little story about Rowan and his first encounter with Lily. I got to be honest, I kind of struggled with this one, mostly because I read Trial by Fire last year and have sooo many reads in between from then and now. And this is basically reading a few scenes of Trial by Fire but through Rowan’s eyes. I definitely recommend reading this directly after Trial by Fire, because events and such will be fresh on your mind.
Regardless it was still an enjoyable read, even if I couldn’t really remember what was happening and such. That’s always the trouble with reading so much! You really get to know Rowan and this one and his struggle to define his feelings for Lillian. He both loves her still, and hates her. Then when he meets Lily, her iconic double, he struggles yet again to figure out his feelings. Let alone separating the two.
Rowan was an incredibly fast read, maybe 40 pages or so. It’s a good look inside his head if you were wondering after Trial by Fire. Now onto, Firewalker!
This wasn't at all I thought it would be, but it was still a great addition to the Worldwalker trilogy.
It was really interesting reading from Rowan's perspective, seeing Lily from his point of view as they met. I didn't quite expect it to be so short, even though I knew it was a novella - I think this is why I felt a little bit disappointed because I thought we were getting more of the story whereas it was just a retelling of a very small part of the first book 📖
If you enjoyed the trilogy then this is a cool additional book to read just to get extra information and insight into how Rowan felt during book 1, but otherwise not very much happens and I wouldn't talk about this to anybody in particular 😅
Saying this, I am a huge Josephine Angelini fan & her writing is incredible so I definitely recommend the rest of the series!!!
This was a very interesting read. I enjoyed reading from Rowan's POV. I felt bad for him and Lily all over again and it made me want to re-read Trial by Fire and start Firewalker. So it was really good advertising.
I didn't really glean too much more about Rowan. It was more of a re-telling from his POV than anything extra added. I might have been missing some parts though as it seemed shorter than I was expecting but I have no way of knowing for sure.
I was glad to meet the nice Tristan again and also glad that I didn't have to read about Lilian. I still dislike her. I did miss Lilian's sister although I can't recall her name at the moment.
Overall very good! :)

This short story narrates the encounter between Lily and Rowan, from Rowan's point of view. Not only was this boring, it also made me realize I remember almost nothing from Trial by Fire, and I don't care about what happens to any of the characters 😅 I'm rethinking my decision of reading the next books in the series 🙈
So disappointing, I was really looking forward to reading certain scenes in Rowan's perspective but instead it's only like the first chapter in his perspective, with the remainder of the book being a preview for Trial by Fire. Which honestly makes no sense at all considering this book is 1.5 in the series; she should have just added it onto the ending of bonus editions of Trial by Fire books.
3.5 stars. Good, but way too short. I definitely wanted more. It was a good refresher to get back into this world before reading the next book and a nice look into Rowan's head, but like I said, I wish it was longer.
When I first saw this short story available for Kindle on Amazon, I was stoked. I absolutely adored the Worldwalker trilogy, and I was dying for a chance to see some of the events from Rowan's POV.
This wasn't the case with this short story. It felt more like Rowan summarizing what we already saw from the first book, but there was no sustenance to it. It felt more like a boring re-telling of someone's day. "This happened, then this, oh, and this thing happened, too." It wasn't at all what I was initially expected, and I'm sad to say I was thoroughly disappointed with it.
If you're a fan of the Worldwalker trilogy, I wouldn't spend the money on this one. It's a very short read, and not really worth the time.
Amazon says this novella is supposed to be 157 pages showing Rowan's point of view from the first book in the Firewalker series. This novella only contained about 10 pages of the actual content advertised, the entire rest of the novella is several chapters of the first book in the aforementioned series. What a huge lie just to take more money from people. I highly recommend NOT purchasing this novella, and just reading the series. What a terrible example of false advertising.
Without question the Worldwalker series is my favorite series, I've read it (I think) 5 times.
Anything that Josephine can add to the characters or story I'm pretty sure I'll just devour - which is exactly what happened with Rowan. My only complaint? It isn't nearly long enough, ya girl wants more.
This was a nice take on the opening events of Other Salem from Rowan's perspective. It was nice to get a better view of Rowan and his frame of mind. I gave this 3 stars because about 95% of it was the introductory chapters of Trial by Fire and it was such a waste of space because anyone reading Rowan has already read that book. But other than this issue, it was a nice little story.
I enjoyed the look though rowans eyes but damn that was short af, i bought it and only %20 of the book is actually the book to rest is from the other books. I would have liked it to be longer but at least it kept me entertained
