An unexpected delight. I picked this up as a light bedtime read one night but enjoyed it so much that it quickly became my daytime read as well.

These stories were either very short missions or brief glimpses into a wide selection of corners from the StarGate universe. One story even took up the task of giving us the Wraith perspective, although that was unfortunately my least favourite in the collection.

All of these contained exactly the kind of humour that the series' had and were very well thought through character studies.

A lot of fun and I'm already starting on the next volume.

An anthology of SG-1 and SGA short stories to fulfill my ever present Stargate cravings? Yes, please! As is the norm with anthologies involving a bunch of different authors, this is a mixed bag, but I very much enjoyed the majority of the stories. My overall favourites are two of the Atlantis stories, namely the Wraith-centric "Consort" because I absolutely love how the authors of the Legacy books have fleshed out the Wraith characters and culture and am thrilled to get more insights into their earlier history, and "A Blade of Atlantis", set during the siege at the end of the first season and giving some tantalising glimpses of the post-series future. Among the SG-1 stories the two that stood out most for me were Teal'c's first impressions of the SGC and Earth, told from his POV in "When on Earth", and "Perceptions", in which we see the team grieving and dealing with the aftermath of Janet Fraiser's death.

I was pretty pumped when this popped up as a recommendation on Amazon. Short stories from both SG-1 and Atlantis? Yes, please! That being said, some of these were a bit of a snooze. Mostly, it was the SG-1 ones that failed to draw me in. The exception being, the one featuring Jack's Asgard clone and Carter and Teal'c and a time dilation field. These had the characters just as i liked them. The real standouts for me, though, were the Atlantis shorts, especially that last one that gives us a quick glimpse at the future and has already driven me nuts trying to confirm the identity of Frankie's father (I mean we KNOW who it is but that doesn't mean i don't want it announced in flashing colours!). It was probably the best way to end this book, giving us a glimpse of a future in which Atlantis is once again and thriving city.

I hope we one day get to see more of this future.

An excellent collection of short stories, many of them better than the full-length books from Fandemonium. And it was nice to see Zelenka starring in his own adventure.

Stargate SG-1 is my favorite TV show of all time, with Stargate Atlantis being a close second. This is my third time reading Stargate SG-1/Atlantis: Far Horizons, and my enjoyment of this book has not diminished one bit! All of the stories in this book are good, with some of them being absolutely phenomenal!

Stargate SG-1: Draw Down the Moon by Suzanne Wood is a fun “planet of the week” type adventure.

Stargate Atlantis: Bone Music by Peter J. Evans is a great, eerie tale of lovecraftian horror.

Stargate SG-1: When on Earth by Sabine C. Bauer is a wonderful story set immediately after the Stargate SG-1’s pilot, Children of the Gods. It follows Teal’c’s first few hours on Earth from his point of view.

Stargate Atlantis: Close Quarters by Mellisa Scott is a fun story depicting an unlikely friendship between Dr Radek Zelenka and Ronon Dex.

Stargate SG-1: Time Keeps on Slippin’ by Keith R.A. DeCecandido is a good story depicting what exactly happened between seasons three and four of Stargate SG-1, when Col. O’Neill, Major Carter and Teal’c were stranded off-world.

Stargate Atlantis: Consort by Amy Griswold is an intriguing story following the early days of Todd the Wraith as a he fights in a war against the Asurans. Like many of Fandemonium’s Stargate Atlantis novels, this story has some great insights into the culture of the Wraith.

Stargate SG-1: Perceptions by Diana Dru Botsford is a perfect SG-1 story. It follows the team’s first mission after the season 7 episode “Heroes.” All members of SG-1 are characterized perfectly, and this story examines how each of them deal with the death of Dr Frasier.

Stargate Atlantis: Pleasure Cruise by Geonn Cannon is a profound story set after season five of Stargate Atlantis. It follows Col. Carter on a trip on between the Pegasus and Milky Way galaxies on her ship the George Hammond. She has an encounter with the aliens last seen in the SG-1 Season 7 episode “Grace.” However, this encounter ends differently then the first one. Carter’s reminiscing about her relationship with General Hammond actually got me emotional.

Stargate SG-1: Off Balance by Sally Malcolm is a great story set after season ten of Stargate SG-1. It follows the younger clone of Jack O’Neill (last seen in the season 7 episode Fragile Balance) as he is called back into action to help SG-1. I never really thought about what Clone O’Neill would be thinking after all of these years on his own, but this story really conveys his feelings well.

Stargate Atlantis: A Blade of Atlantis by Jo Graham is set during “The Siege.” If I said anything else, it would spoil it.

This book made me realize how much I have come to care for all of the characters in these shows. This is the perfect book to lay down, relax and read as I mentally step through the gate once more.

I don't typically like short story anthologies - typically you get a mish mash of good, so-so, and bad stories. This one started out slow, the first two were kinda meh. But it really picked up after that. Lot of good Stargate stories in here, well worth the read.

The Traveler's Tales Volume One: Far Horizons takes us on ten stories through out the StarGate timeline. From right after the events of the SG-1 series opener Children of the Gods to up to two years after the death of General Hammond and a little beyond. Each of the ten stories is written by ten different authors who bring their own voice and those of the characters to life. We feel their loss as Carter dose after Hammond's death to the joy that SG-1 feels thanks to what can only be guessed to an Ancient who makes sure that an island community brings joy to its inhabitants. And to a small community that tricks the Wrath into dying and not feeding on them. This anthology is defiantly one to pick up to and I highly recommend it to all science fiction fans

Out of all Stargate books that I have read so far, this one is by far the best. Each story in the book is a perfect length (a few could use a bit more meat on the bone, but easy enough to extrapolate) for an episode of the series. Everyone is kept in-character, the adventures are great, no headscratchers that go against the canon that pull me out of it. Just, a really great collection of stories.

Very enjoyable

As a big fan of the Stargate Universe, I found these short stories interesting and fun. I'm always interested in pre-history and in between types of stories. These did not disappoint. Now it's time to read the next one. Hope you like these as much as I did.

A collection of short stories linked to Stargate that could not be missing from my reading list. I really enjoyed the alternation between SG-1 and SGA, I'm curious to read other novels and other stories!

I love Stargate and this just made me want to rewatch everything. I'll definitely buy the rest of this series. The authors really made me so excited for every story. These included characters that I didn't expect to be in there but that just made it better!

Some of the stories I couldn't get into. But the last one, "A Blade of Atlantis", was captivating. Well done Jo Graham!!

A lovely collection of short stories about some of my favorite people! ‘Consort’ had to be my absolute favorite though because we never seem to get enough Wraith stories.

DISCLAIMER: I performed the technical edit for one of the short stories in this anthology, "Perceptions" by Diana Dru Botsford. She gave me a hardcopy version of this anthology in thanks. (I would have bought it anyway.)

Favorite Stargate Atlantis story: "Bone Music" by Peter J. Evans. Suitably creepy, with hints that there is more alien life in the Pegausus galaxy than just the Wraith.

Honorable mention Stargate Atlantis story: "A Blade of Atlantis" by Jo Graham. I'm a sucker for both timey-wimey stories and peeks into the rest of the cast of characters that make up the Stargate universe past the main teams.

Favorite Stargate SG-1 story: "Off Balance" by Sally Malcolm. I really hope that this is a hint that CLO'Neill will be appearing in more media tie-in novels soon...

Honorable mention Stargate SG-1 story: "Perceptions" by Diana Dru Botsford. Because Janet Frasier's death affected all of us, and I'm so glad that a writer took the time to explore it further.

And finally, mad props go to Keith R. A. DeCandido's "Time Keeps on Slippin'" for being both an entertaining tale and finally giving a plausible backstory to what otherwise was better forgotten as one actor's unfortunate facial hair decision...

I was hesitant to read this collection of short stories because I didn't know if a Stargate story could be told in short story form. I'm so used to the novels feeling like an episode. Could a short story also feel like an episode? The answer is yes! I enjoyed these stories a lot. There is a nice balance of before-the-series, between-the-episodes, and post-series stories, and a good mix of SG-1 and Atlantis. All of the stories were just the right length.

Since its a collection by different authors, each was different. Stayed pretty true to each author's style, so liking the story may lend a little more to liking the author for that short story. Entertaining, but not a full story nor do I remember anything in it that would affect canon, or other books.

A good collection of short stories with half focusing on SG-1 and half on Atlantis. The stories that take place past the end of season 10 of SG1 imply Sam Carter and Jack O'Neill are involved. Stories that stood out for me were "Perceptions" set just after the Heroes episode of SG-1, and A Blade of Atlantis, set during The Siege.

A collection of eclectic short stories to suit all tastes. Normally I am not a fan of short stories, as there is not sufficient space to develop characters. In this case, the authors were all playing in known universe(s) with known characters - and having some fun. Enjoy. Read.

I have loved dipping in and out of the Stargate universe with these short stories. Some I loved, some I enjoyed and some were okay, but it will be different for everyone and I recommend this book to any Stargate fan. Four stars.

This was a good little short story anthology. Most of the stories were strong little tales- my favourite being the return of Jack O'Neill Junior and my least favourite being the story told from the Wraith POV. 3.5 stars all up.
