About the author

L. Pichon says that when she was little, she loved to draw, and her mom said she was very good at making a mess (this is still true today). She kept drawing, went to art school, became a designer and art director at Jive Records, and began to publish children’s books. After its publication in the U.K., The Brilliant World of Tom Gates won several prestigious awards, including the Roald Dahl Funny Prize, the Waterstone’s Children’s Book Prize, and the Blue Peter Book Award. L. Pichon lives in Brighton, England, with her family.

Tom wants to watch TV.. His dad wants him to go outside and play. His dad suggested making a kite using plastic bags and strings. 

So, a homemade kite was made, and Tom and his dad tried to fly it. 

Inspectors are coming to Tom's school. 

The school is having some special activities. One of them is pizza day, when the children will bring their own toppings to make pizza for lunch. Tom keeps forgetting to put the notice on the fridge's door. So he panics, and it is a lot of fun seeing him bring whatever ingredient he found to school. 

There is also a storybook inside the story about an evil mayor, inspectors and a tea shop. 
The end. Fun read.

H χαρά μου δεν περιγράφηκε μόλις παρέλαβα την έβδομη περιπέτεια «Με λίγη τύχη» του παγκόσμιου εκδοτικού φαινόμενου «Τομ ΓκεΪτς» από τις εκδόσεις Παπαδόπουλος. Λατρεύω τα βιβλία με κόμικ ύφος κι αμέσως οι σκανδαλιάρικες γραμματοσειρές και τα χιουμοριστικά σκίτσα που κοσμούν το κείμενο δίνοντας έμφαση, απορρόφησαν το ενδιαφέρον μου.

Ένα κομμάτι σπάγκος δίνει το δημιουργικό έναυσμα για την έναρξη μιας ρεαλιστικής ξεκαρδιστικής ιστορίας, όπου οι περισσότεροι έφηβοι θα μπορούσαν να ταυτιστούν στο πρόσωπο του νεαρού πρωταγωνιστή μιας και το βιβλίο εκφράζει τις ανησυχίες και την συναισθηματική διέγερση μπρος στην καθημερινή ρουτίνα. Διασκεδαστικές οικογενειακές καταστάσεις, σχολικές ίντριγκες, παιδαριώδεις σκανταλιές στροβιλίζονται στον κυκλώνα τoυ μουσικού πενταγράμμου αντί για νότες καραμελογκοφρέντες.

Γραφή κειμένου απλή, κατανοητή, ευκολοχώνευτη σε απόδοση της Χαράς Γιαννακοπούλου. Τονίζοντας με εντυπωσιακά σχήματα έμφαση σε επιθετικούς προσδιορισμούς διευρύνοντας την φαντασία. Επιρρήματα και συνδέσμους, τα οποία εμπλουτίζουν άριστα την Ελληνική γλώσσα. Η ροή της αφήγησης κινηματογραφική ως καταγραφή ημερήσιων γεγονότων σαν μικρά διηγήματα να απαρτίζουν την δομή της αλλά και κουμπώνει άψογα μια νέα αυτοτελή ιστορία μέσα στην κεντρική εξέλιξη της πλοκής

Μέσα από την δημιουργία της Liz Pichon οι αναγνώστες μυούνται στo πρότυπο χαρακτήρα του «Τομ ΓκεΪτς» σαν δέχεται τα ατίθασα ερεθίσματα καθώς ανακαλύπτει τον κόσμο. Λατρεύω που διαβάζω τις σκέψεις-αντιδράσεις του Tομ στις επιπλήξεις της μητέρας του. Ο περιορισμός παρακολούθησης της τηλεόρασης έρχεται αντιμέτωπος με την έμμεση επαφή της φύσης και το γειτονικό πάρκο όπου καλείται να πετάξει ο αυτοσχέδιος χαρταετός του Τομ και του πατέρα του στο απαλό αεράκι.. Η γκρινιάρα αδερφή Ντίλια με αλλεργία στα κουταβάκια, απωθεί το όνειρο του Τομ να αποκτήσει ένα σκύλο. Κι πιστέψτε με ο αδελφός της καιροφυλακτεί με τον κολλητό του Ντέρεκ να της προκαλέσει εκνευρισμό. Γνωρίστε τον υπερόπτη Μάρκους Μελντρόυ να αντιμετωπίζει περιφρονητικά τον Τομ προκαλώντας του προβλήματα. Tον άτακτο Ρότζερ, γάτο της αντιπαθητικής γειτόνισσας και συμμαθήτριας Τζουν να μπλέκει σε "διαβολιές". Κι όμως ήρθε η Εβδομάδα νέων εμπειριών, η περίοδος όπου οι μαθητές καταπιάνονται νέες δημιουργικές ασχολίες(και επιθεωρητές καραδοκούν στους διαδρόμους του σχολείου. Αργοπορία, αλλεπάλληλα ατυχές συμβάντα, κωμικά εξωγήινα σκίτσα προκαλούν πανικό. Κι μέσα σε αυτόν τον τρελό κυκλώνα το συγκρότημα του Τομ , "DOGZOMBIES" καλείται να λάβει μέρος στο μουσικό διαγωνισμό «Μάχη των συγκροτημάτων». Ευχάριστες εκπλήξεις προκαλούν απολαυστικές ανατροπές !

Κατάλληλο για όλες τις ηλικίες από 9+! Οι έφηβοι θα λατρέψουν το βιβλίο ως διέξοδο διαφυγής από τα σχολικούς τόμους διδασκαλίας μιας κι αποτελεί ευχάριστο τρόπο διεύρυνσης των πνευματικών οριζόντων και κριτικής σκέψης ! Όσο για εσάς τους μεγαλύτερους κάντε ένα διάλειμμα από τα πολυσέλιδα μυθιστορήματα και γίνετε για λίγο παιδί.

It was amazing. This series is addictive I finished a book in 1 day which I normally dont...it mostly takes me half or 1 week to finish....it is similar to diary of the wimpy kid but more attractive with all those doodling and colors

I loved page 58 and 61 i was laughing so hard, what I didn't like was the story in school I did not like it it was gross and bugs in food, and the mayors name in the story is ridiculous , and i liked everything except the story, but 58 and 61 where the best, and new compitison.

My book is Tom Gates a tiny bit lucky and is by L.Pichon.The story mainly focuses on Tom which is the main character and other people such as his friends and people who he dislikes.The people he likes are Amy porter,Derek his best friend,his dad (sometimes),and his mom(also sometimes).He dislikes Delia his sister,June his annoying next door neighbour,Marcus also annoying,and finally Mr fullerman which is also annoying.Tom lives in a really ordinary home and a really ordinary town.I found this book in my room when I was finding things to do then sat down and started reading.


The book is about Tom and he wants to watch a tv show called the crazy fruit bunch but his parents won’t let him but if he does a lot of chores he will be able to.So he has to do chores and then a problem accrues so he has to find a way to fix that problem then go different chores.And while he is trying to do the chores the 2 people he hates the most are getting in his way stopping him.So to summarise the book is about a boy that has to do chores to watch a tv show but things stop him from doing it so it ends up taking a long time to watch the crazy fruit bunch.The conflicts he has is with Dennis the bully and June the annoying neighbour and they are fighting over a kite and it ends up ripping and it was special to toms dad so they have to fix it before he finds out and that is also stopping him from watching the crazy fruit bunch because a problem has stopped him.


The book ended when he finally got to the end of the chores list and he could sit down a watch the crazy fruit bunch but then all of a sudden the tv stops working and the book ends.

I think this book would be good for someone that wants to read a funny and goofy book.
