LOVE IN NEW YORK SERIES READING ORDER Love in New York: Book 1 (Lost and Found) Love in New York: Book 2 (Cabin Fever) Love in New York: Book 3 (Mister Fixit)
About this series: I’d never been to New York City before, but I knew I would love it and wanted to write a story that was set in the most exciting city in the world. So I hopped on a plane with my friend Susan and spent 5 whirlwind days there, soaking up the culture, seeing the sights and nailing down the scenes that would eventually end up in this series. Those of you familiar with New York City know what I’m talking about when I say you just can’t beat Russ and Daughters’ bagels, Central Park, Times Square, Brooklyn, and Yonnah Schimmels’ knishes.
Elle Casey, a former attorney and teacher, is a NEW YORK TIMES and USA TODAY bestselling American author who lives in France with her husband, the youngest of her three kids, and several horses, dogs, and cats. I dont know.... I mean.... come on! This book is suppose to be a love letter from Miss Casey to New York. I am telling you: i need much better editing and story than this.
This book is like a combination of dreadful recipe. Story is cramped into 1 giant pot without knowning how to mix it well together. Plot after plot mix together into a giant confusing story. Characters also not develop well at all. No depth, no complexion and no chemistry.
I try to like it a bit to give it 3 stars. At the end I decide to give it 2 stars.
Safety - *He has a dead ex wife that has been dead for less than a year. 9 months *He has been drinking and drugging for nine months since she died. He started doing this because the love of his life was killed in a car crash. *His wife was pregnant when she died. The baby was delivered after the wreck and survived.
There is two things that bother me about this book. The first is the 9 months of abuse of alcohol and drugs - meth and weed. He recovered overnight after she poured out his whisky. No withdraw or anything. It doesn't work that way. He was a drunkin fool one day and the next poof he's cool. No problems at all. he supposedly had a 3,000 a month drug habit but no problems he just quit everything overnight. Yup no ***he was described as muscular and hot. I seriously doubt that 9 months of very heavy drinking and smoking meth he still would have be so hot and well built.
The second thing is the first day or day and half he was grieving very very hard than the next thing you know he was fine. He was so messed up from his wife dying that he had to stay messed up to get away from it. Withing two days he was chasing her around the house and flirting. And within three day wanting to have sex. After wanting nothing to do with women and being so broken hearted. Withing three weeks? proposing marriage.... Makes no sense either. insta love in this case did not work. The author should have worked it in after she was recovering or even after that. *** We do meet Jeremy in the first book. We see how messed up he was then and we learn his backstory in that book also.
If you can overlook those two things it was good to read about him recovering and getting better. I enjoyed it but it was hard to get past those two things. There is also the fact that he got his daughter back to fast. He wasn't clean that long before she was handed back to him. Jaws the dog was so so damn cute. <3

Well, first of all it seems that Elle Casey and I have a problem with second books of a series. The Bourbon Street Boys series was another series with that problem and exactly like here: I loved the first book - and hated the second one. But while I couldn't finish "Wrong Place, Right Time", this book here started really good and I thought it was a one-time thing but then it began..
I have to say, I liked Sarah quite fine in the beginning and the more I read the more I started to dislike her. And with Jeremy, he was a drunken mess in the first book who wouldn't let his siblings help him and when they tried, he simply disappeared. I can understand grief and I can see that he lost the love of his life and wanted to die as well - but I could never understand that he gave up his daughter without any thoughts at all. She was all he had after his wife dies and if Laura was just half the incredible woman he painted her, then she would have been devastated that he left Cassie. It was a piece of her, left behind while she was gone.
Okay, I'm a huge fan of insta-love when it is done well as it was in the first book between Leah and James who hit it off. But it did not work here! How can a man, grieving to no end, drinking himself to obliviousness to forget, doing drugs and with no care of others go from that to - BAMM - wow, hello hot chick, wanna have some fun? And it was like that. He stumbles into the cabin, dirty and smelling like a homeless person, whining and crying about how unfair his life is and how great his love to his soulmate Laura was and that he will never find such a great love again. When Sarah tries to talk some sense into him, he is angry and yells at her, throwing things and leaving in a huff -- only to come back, apologising and then he starts to flirt with her, chasing her around the room, laughing and joking the next moment? I'm sorry but did aliens kidnap and brainwash him? I was like: WTF?????
Jeremy goes from grieving to loving in hours and don't let me start on Sarah. He stumbles into the cabin like a madman, smelling like garbage and looking like he hadn't seen a bathroom in months and while she was disgusted, she also finds him hot. What I also find unbelievable was that she KNEW that his family was looking for him, had hired a private detective and was worried sick that he was lying dead in some back row and she never thought to inform them that he was at the cabin? Hey, stop looking and worrying, he is here! No, this never crossed her mind.
Oh and did I mention that he spoke to Laura all the time since she died? Yes, he hears her voice and talks to her and she talks back.. Hmm, sure. I would have him admitted after he told me that, especially when I know that he was doing drugs and drinking alcohol like it goes out of style soon. And then even more stranger things happen: Sarah also starts to see Lauras ghost. And when Jeremy leaves to get his life in order, the ghost suddenly tells her to call him and guess what? Jeremy is in the middle of a discussion with his dealer when she calls him but assures her that all is well and of course he stops immediately with the drugs. That would have been the moment to inform the family but again, she did not think about that.
And when I thought this was the strangest thing happening - guess what? Yes, suddenly the ghost strikes back and renders Sarah blind. Yes, blind. From one moment to the next, all she can see is black. But don't worry because Prince Alcoholic comes to the rescue and takes her to the hospital where she has surgery and then moves in with him and they are a happy couple because he assures her that he now takes care of her and not to worry ever again. And then, after two weeks, he proposes. Because he is sure that Laura wants them together so he feels he has to make Sarah his wife. What a romantic move! And to complete the happy family, of course he is now suddenly ready to be a father for Cassie, so hand over the baby already!!
This was the moment where I almost checked out. A man who drank alcohol for months and used drugs cannot heal overnight and without any professional help. Just because he is in love with Sarah now does not make him clean and you should think an attorney sees it the same way but again, that is not was happens here because Robinson is only too happy to hand guardianship back to the father because, look at him! He is ready, can't you see? And don't talk about it any longer, don't be a spoilsport and shut it.
The moment where I checked out and started to browse (because I do want to read Jana's story so I sucked it up and finished the last chapters) was when they confronted the family during the Spaghetti dinner. The way Jeremy handled the thing with Cassie - WAS NOT OKAY!
The night Laura died, Jeremy checked out and left. He left Cassie on Jana's and James' doorstep and LEFT, had no care what they did or how they handled it. Hell, he never even bothered to ask! He simply did not want the baby so they had to take care. For nine months, he tried to kill himself by drinking and doing drugs, never asking how his siblings handled his shit because he did not care. He screwed Jana totally over by leaving her with the baby. She had not choice but to put her whole life on hold and quit her job so she could care for her niece. She was only twenty-five but had to learn to be a mother since nobody else was there to step in. And then Jeremy comes back with Sarah and instead of going to Jana, thanking her for being so selfless and trying to explain that he feels ready now to be a father and that he wants Cassie back, he goes behind her back and visits Robinson the attorney who is only too happy to hand the child over because hey, Jeremy went to one AA meeting - he is cured now and totally able to care of a little child, no proof needed. Yes, I'm sure that's what every attorney would do in this case and of course judges always agree with that so no need for Jana to protest. They simply tell her to hand over the child and be done with and please shut your mouth we are not interested in your opinion. You did what you were supposed to do and now thanks and goodbye. Jeremy yells at her and he and Sarah were even angry that she was not happy but had some doubts.
That was the moment were I realised that I hated this book. I hated Sarah and I hated Jeremy and I strongly despised Robinson. James also rolled over pretty fast, probably to suck up to Leah and Jeremy because Leah was over the moon that her best friend is marrying her brother-in-law. Yay, let's be jolly! I started with 4 stars, went to 3 stars in the middle and in the end I could only muster to give 1. I'm sorry, Elle but I never felt the love. They never even kissed when he proposed. I didn't expect them to have sex but this might at least have explained the attraction to me when they had sex and then were crazy for each other.
I know that this is fiction but I need a connection to the story and to the people and I never felt this here. Jeremy was a raging alcoholic who was deeply grieving for nine months and suddenly woke up and was in love with someone else. Some parts were quite funny, I give you that. I loved the dog moments which were pretty hilarious but I don't think grieve has a place in a funny romance, at least not when it was such a deeply described grieve like it was here. I have hopes for the third book as I liked Jana very much who by the way rolled over to easy for my liking in the end.
No sir, this was not my cup of tea. Let's see what Jana will do with Robinson. If I was here, I would grill his behind for the Cassie stunt. Hopefully she goes not easy on him.

This book is more about Jeremy and Sarah. Jeremy is still missing from the family and Sarah is a long time friend of Leah's who is an art teacher who just quit her job and feeling lost. She comes to visit Leah in hopes of finding herself again and her passion for painting. James offers the family cabin in the woods to Sarah to find her creative side once again but on her first night in the cabin, she is found by James' brother, Jeremy. Jeremy's wife has been dead for nearly a year and since that time Jeremy has remained in s drunken stupor or high on drugs. During their stay at the cabin with neither wanting to leave, Jeremy opens up to Sarah and she helps him to see how he has to move on and the two become emotionally connected. The characters in this series are all quite enjoyable from their intense emotional connection even to their fun banter.
Another unbelievable journey. Jeremy lost his wife in a traffic accident, he can't accept what happened, he just missing from the family n their new born daughter for months.
Sarah, did some drunk decision to move out where she lived n worked, called someone she never contacted for two years. Leah just came from another unbelievable journey of herself, then one thing leads to two, that's Sarah stays in the family cabin n met Jeremy.
A week? Maybe less than a week, they shared something. Ghost? Sudden lost the eye sight, n ..... Bought them together n get their HEA.
This was a little disappointing after the first book. It was still good, just not as great. It started out very promising, but then it felt rushed to the end, it felt like their relationship was a bit rushed as well. He was mourning the love of his life so much that it basically drove him into the gutter, but then boom he was fine and ready to move on (and suddenly got clean- that seemed way too easy).
This book was a little bit better than its predecessor, although the last (half? quarter?) of the book tainted it for me. Not a fan of insta-love. And for someone who is so torn up about his wife, Jeremy sure gets over it pretty quickly.
I picked this book up and couldn't stop reading until it was over, which ended up being 3:30 am. I would recommend reading the first book in the series since this comes in after the end of the first book.
Sarah is stuck in a rut with her job and not following her passion anymore due to it. she decides she needs to switch things up and find her passion to paint again. When drinking one night she makes a decision that will change everything.
Sarah ends taking a trip that will change everything. She ends up staying in an isolated cabin during a snow storm with not one but two unexpected guests. Her first guest is a stray dog she picks up before the storm that she names Jaws the other is a handsome man named Jeremy who is trying to forget and to remember his past.
While at the cabin Sarah has a medical emergency that no one sees coming. Will she be able to get to a hospital in time? Will she be find her passion to paint again? What will happen with Jaws and Jeremy? You have to read to this book to find out the answers to those questions and to be taken on quite the adventure you don't see coming.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance books that has a strong female lead who is a little quirky. This book will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions as you turn those pages.
Disappointed! Wanted more of the feel of book one. Instead the story was not really plausible to me, it didn’t develop enough. I wasn’t as emotionally vested. I won’t by the third book.
I must say that this series is very easy to read. It is fairly predictable as far as contemporary romance goes. I have read so many books and one thing that strikes me is unlike so many other romances out there, there isn't a gratuitous amount of sex. And even what there is, the description isn't cringe worthy or uncomfortable. It is pretty sappy with the instant marriage proposals, but not too much. I like the way the author progresses the memory of Laura. It is a beautiful way to describe a spouse moving on from such tragedy. I didn't give it 5 stars because there were some parts unanswered and a few editing mistAkes. I am on to read the next one for sure!
Jeremy has some serious problems, he lost his wife 9 months ago and is still having a hard time dealing with that fact. Sarah a high school art teacher is having kind of a life crisis as she seems to have lost herself and is trying to get back to herself. She goes to New York to her best friends and hopes she can stay a few days and get back into painting again. Her best friends boyfriend James and his sister Jana suggests Sarah go to the Oliver's cabin where she can get inspiration to paint again. She meets Jeremy there where he's been staying unbeknownst to his family. They both get a surprise when they are snowed in. Enjoy.
Great story. I adored how Jaws found his way in. It provided comic relief. Emotions ran high in this book. I was hoping a prayer would be said releasing Laura's spirit to the other side. I also thought the lovemaking scene was subpar. Why? It was only once and reserved for the very end.
Such a beautiful book. The love story between Sarah and Jeremy is just beautiful.
Jeremy is in such a bad place, so torn by what happened to him, unable to move forward. The way that his relationship with Sarah develops is such a wonderful, lovely, but also so deep journey. It's fun and sweet, but is also deep.
Eeek this is I believe the first Elle Casey book that didn't work for me. Most of hers are favorites. I don't want to tear into it I love her writing too much. This just wasn't for me. Looking forward to what's next. 2-2.5* if I'm really honest
I must say that this was much more better than the first one. I was happy to see James and Leah though! They are cute, of course. And Cassie! I want to see more of her please. (Let's hope the next book is on Robinson and Jana's story....)
Yay! I'm so happy Jeremy has a happy ending! I loved that Sarah was staying at the family Oliver's cabin, and the bonus was Jeremy turning up too! I loved watching the relationship build between these two :) defo worth a read :)
What a fantastic read!! It's about time Jeremy sorted himself out. Poor little Cassie who was surrounded by all who loves her but really needs her dad!!! This story has found peace for 3 characters and 1 dog (Jaws) On to book 3 I go.........
