We haven't finished reading the Rainbow Fairies series yet, but while waiting for the next Rainbow Fairy book to become available at our local library, Isabelle was thrilled to find this book, the first in the Jewel Fairies series.

So apparently, there is an order in which you're supposed to read the series of series. In this book, Rachel and Kirsty have magic lockets that were given to them after they helped the Weather Fairies in a previous adventure.

This time, the icy Jack Frost has stolen Queen Titania's seven magic jewels and scattered them in the human world. Kirsty happens to be visiting Rachel for exactly one week, and presumably they will find one jewel per day per book.

Just as in Ruby the Red Fairy, the girls are told that they must let the magic come to them. I am probably over-thinking this, but it occurs to me that this aspect of the series could serve as a little reminder that you can't go around looking for good things to happen; good things will happen to you when you are mentally in a place to recognize good things when they come along.

To make things a little harder for Rachel and Kirsty, Jack Frost's goblins are guarding the jewels. The goblins can't actually touch the jewels, but they serve as obstacles for the girls to overcome. Queen Titania tells the girls that they will need to outwit the goblins. I'll have to see how the rest of the series unfolds, but I'm hoping that perhaps the girls will be doing some clever thinking in the books ahead. At least in this book, when India the Moonstone Fairy's magic is not sufficient to thwart the goblins, Kirsty does some quick thinking and comes up with a way to complete India's original plan.

Jack Frost is up to no good again! Like always! This time he has stolen all seven gems from the jewel fairies and Rachel and Kirsty are the ones to help. When India the moonstone fairy looses her moonstone on the first day of Rachel and Kirsty`s adventure they wonder if they can help get her moonstone back from a neighbor`s yard.

I love when they have to go find the gemstones, it's just makes for the most interesting adventure. The weather fairies were cute, but the gemstone fairies is where it is at. I would give anything for some Fairy dust, I don't know what I would do with it but I feel like it's good just to have around. The adventures in this book are amazing. The way Daisy Meadows writes the stories/books, the way she writes the characters is also just amazing. When they sang the goblins to sleep that was pretty funny. These books are just so cute. Happy Reading!!!!

My daughter loves this new, exciting, series of chapter books. As a grade one, she is really excelling in reading because she loves the fairy stories so much, and they are easy for her to follow from one chapter to the next. There are lots of new words, and she is learning so much.

Daisy Meadows and her fairies are my childhood. I collected so many in my youth, knowing all the fairies and their importance, and sticking with the two special girls who go to be a part of the magic.
Years ago I had to give my beautiful collection away, now still part of my childhood school where little girls are picking their favourite fairies and playing pretend. It's fun to hear stories from my old teachers telling me how over the years so many students have grabbed these books and fallen in love with the tales of two girls, Jack Frost and the fabulous glittering magic that is the fairies.
On Christmas last year, my sister surprised me with a boxset of these books, but cause you cannot collect these darlings as easily anymore. I was over the moon!
If anyone has a little one who needs a little magic in their life, wants to read and needs a big creation to be hooked on...it is Daisy Meadows!

The Jewel fairies are : India the Moonstone Fairy, Scarlett the Garnet Fairy, Emily the Emerald Fairy, Chloe the Topaz Fairy, Amy the Amethyst Fairy, Sophie the Sapphire Fairy and Lucy the Diamond Fairy.Their gems control different types of magic like good dreams, changing, appearing (and disappearing) etc.

We love looking at the maps at the beginnings of the books. A different location for this series as Kirsty goes to stay with Rachel this time. Miss 4 liked the adventure playground best.

Miss 4 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

The first thing I should note about this is that although it is the start of a series it is also a continuation of another one. I don't feel that this should lose a reader as the story is self contained in a previous world.

The story itself is suitable for a new reader. It has some peril but nothing that should be considered scary or unsuitable. The language is suitable to the target audience. I did feel that it could have been a little longer without losing the interest of said target audience.

It is hard to review something like this without giving spoilers. Any discussion of the plot would do that. It is easy to read but I also have a feeling it would be easy to forget too which is why it cannot get higher than 3 stars.

This is the book that got me into reading as a kid! I happened to be asked the question of "what got you into reading?" Recently and when I thought about it I rememberd the absolute CHOKEHOLD these books had on me when I was on elementary school, the plot was interesting to me, the characters were fun, and who doesn't love faires! Now that I think about it, this may be why I love fantasy so much now!!

I was really excited to dive into this new series about gemstones, but some aspects completely took me out of the story.

The explanation of the plot took up way too much space, and the featured fairy barely appeared. On top of that, the gemstone theme just isn’t very engaging in my opinion. Unlike the Party Fairies or the Weather Fairies, this series simply follows a repetitive quest structure, with each book focusing on finding a stone.

It all felt a bit flat, which is a shame

My seven year old daughter is still enjoying these. They all follow the same formula, the girls have to recover the fairies magic objects from the goblins, the girls are always on holiday together at a convenient location, and the goblins are never actually scary or dangerous.
This rainbow fairy book was okay, not one of the better ones but not especially awful.

Read an indefinite amount as a kid.

Super fun.

Some notes:

- We’re finally at Rachel’s house!

- So many cool little design elements to these books

- Coming up to Halloween (in-universe)

- Kirsty is staying at Rachel’s for the October half-term holiday

- Is India even a real name?? Indy/Indi, sure but India? It’s a country…

- Another search-and-find :)

It's an interesting premise for a series--Jack Frost is causing trouble not just for the fairies and humans, but for himself as well. It would have been nice to see a bit more action in the book. The plot felt a little flat. Things may pick up from here, but it wasn't the most exciting introduction to a series.

Really nice to relive my childhood - this is a sweet, nice and nostalgic book. Even now, as an adult, I appreciate how compact and easy to follow the story is, with a simple plot and an easily recognisable start, middle and end. Sometimes it's nice to read something simple and purely fluff based.

This story once again had the girls lying to parents and this one added another adult friend of the family. They do all this lying while trusting the Fairies they just met. I don't like the message that sends to kids.
