5 GLOWING STARS!

Beyond Reach is what you really want to read in a sequel. All my expectations were met.It is captivating, full of action, emotions and intense feelings and a really great story.

description

I must say,I like "True Calling"'s cover more. But this one's not bad either.

What I really enjoyed were the different point of views. At the beginning Ariana was a little annoying to be honest, she was like a winy little girl who got invited to prom by 2 popular dudes and she is torn in feelings and wants to express it on her blog(I am really bad at comparing things but you get the point). However, further in the book,it really got more mature, and I started to like it more.I really enjoyed Zane's point of view.He is such a complex character and I has so much more to offer.

description

There is so much happening at this book(I will not try to describe the story because I always end of spoiling it),but one thing I can tell,is that it really comes together at the ending.I can't choose favorite parts, the whole book was really intense.

description

I hate love triangles. They are so weird and unrealistic. But the triangle in this series is not that bad. Both the characters are really mysterious and different so it is kind of interesting.

description

I recommend this series if you are into dystopians, space fiction, romance. It is a really great and complex series and I promise you,you will end of loving it.

You know those little party favors that, when opened, a huge blast of confetti and streamers come bursting out and you wonder how all of that could fit in that little container? That’s how I felt after I read Siobhan Davis’ latest, Beyond Reach. Page one and the action, characters, twists and tension just kept bursting out, going on and on without taking a break! I don’t think I would have had time to breathe if it hadn’t been for punctuation marks.

Ariana is back on Earth, playing a potentially deadly game of keep away with the corrupt government and the Clementia rebels. She is determined not to hand over secret information given to her by her late father that could be the deciding factor in victory or defeat. She is more than willing to hand over the information after the release and safe return of her mother, Lily and her fiancé, Cal. Stalemate. No one is willing to force her, and no one willing to comply with her demands without something in return.

Her life with Zane is part of the memories that have been stolen from her, but with his kindhearted ways, protectiveness and his heart on sleeve, Ariana finds herself falling for him all over again, but what of Cal? Has Ariana made herself a target for a girl who longs for Zane? A classic case of she loves him, he loves her, she loves another and he is missing, the big question mark in the equation, is he a traitor, a victim, or a hero who sacrificed to save others?

With the fate of humanity on her shoulders, Ariana is rocked with a bombshell revelation that should be a blessing, but it could also be a nightmare of epic proportions that she cannot undo. The clock is ticking, her options are running low, angst and emotions are burning up the pages and there are no guarantees that anyone will have a future together.

Talk about a story coming to life under the skill of a brilliant author! Siobhan Davis ‘world goes beyond gripping, nail-biting and gut clenching into a realm of action and atmosphere on steroids. The pace is blisteringly fast, and the characters? Well, I loved some, hated some, felt pity for some, changed my mind about some and when they sweat, I sweat, they were angry or confused, I was angry or confused. I wanted to get their attention and scream “NO” or “YES” or “Way to go, dufuss!” Yeah, I got that involved. When an author makes me forget this is “make believe,” and hours have passed since my last visit to reality, then they are an author to follow. Siobhan Davis writes like the Pied Piper plays his flute, it’s magical.

I received this ARC edition from Siobhan Davis in exchange for my honest review.

I hate love triangles with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns. However, my friend Brandy adores them--the more messed up, the better. But even she had a problem with one of the triangle members in this book. Her exact words were, "Maybe I'm just biased when it comes to men, but I wanted Zane to grow a pair. Being in his head was depressing. And if I'd had a gun, I would have blown my head off." So when she wanted to do a buddy read, I was naturally hesitant.

The reason I'm saying all this is because it was surreal how we switched places. Her view was the one I should have taken. But I had no problems with any of the characters in this book. Are they perfect? No, far from it. They all made mistakes. But eventually they all told the truth to one another.

Zane withheld information that could have helped Cal recover; Cal inadvertently got Zane captured on Novo. In my book that makes them even. Ari was even keeping secrets. I even have some sympathy for Isla. At least they all learn from their mistakes and move on.

Brandy thought Zane was always whining about Ari. I thought he was upset about her, but his reactions didn't bother me. In fact, I thought he had some of the funniest lines in the whole book. Like these:

Ari-- "We don't understand how, or why, we're connected in that way. But we were...close friends before I moved to Novo, so maybe that has something to do with it."
Zane-- Oh, to hell with this. "She's the love of my life. I think that's probably got more to do with it."
For Zane's sake, it's a good thing Cal was locked away in a jail cell at the time that little tidbit was revealed.

There's also this Captain Obvious statement by Zane:

There's plenty of fighting/action for all you fans of that, but for me, the personal drama was more interesting.

Cal-loves Ari, no psyhic bond. Ari-loves Cal. Zane-has psychic bond, loves Ari. Ari has psychic bond with Zane but and only loves him as a friend. Isla loves Zane, has no psychic bond. Zane only loves Ari.

I don't think I suddenly woke and decided that love triangles were great. More likely, the author managed to create characters that I can sympathize with and root for. I have a favorite, but that doesn't mean I want the other guy to be miserable.

For Brandy's perspective. click here

I've already downloaded Destiny Rising and will start it tonight. But I still hate love triangles.

If you read my review for True Calling, you know I had some reservations about Cal. It seems that I had good reasons but not for the reasons I had thought. Yep, answers that lead to more questions. That's the great thing about a series, you never really know everything until the series has come to an end.

For the first book, I had issues with Zane's POV. This time around, I really enjoyed it. The whole book showed a change in the authors writing. She was now comfortable with her characters, the ground work had been all laid out and she could give them even more definition. Along with this, she was able to introduce new characters and she did so solidly, giving the reader a stronger story.

This book has so much action to it, that sometimes it was a bit more than what I could keep up with. I couldn't stop reading, but I found myself rereading sentences and paragraphs because I had gotten a bit lost. The author did her best with descriptions, but there were a few things that escaped me.

Zane...the underdog. He really shown in this book. His characterization was beefed up for this book and he really was able to stand his own ground. Still in love with Ariana, he held on to the hope that she would love him back. He did so with strength unlike the weak Zane we were introduced to in the first book.

Speaking of twists, Ariana threw a great one in. Actually, I had wondered from a moment in the first book if it was happening, and through other incidents in this book, before the big reveal. I wasn't totally shocked, but I love the way the author put it out there.

Than there is Isla. You want to hate her, at times you really do. But through the past years, she's been the one at Zane's side, even though he couldn't stop thinking of Ariana. You can understand her inner conflicts, her lashing out, her destructive behavior and everything else that is brought on when Ariana and Zane are reunited.

Another solid read from author Siobhan Davis and another great scifi book for readers of all ages. Enjoyable, action packed, twists galore and the story isn't done yet. A novella is due to come out soon and in about four months, the third book comes out. I can't wait to read them both!

Trying to think of words to describe this book. Wow, epic, brilliant, OMG, just don't cover it.

Great improvement on the last book, the story never let up or got boring, it was full of action, totally unpredictable and another cliff hanger ending.

I did connect with the characters in this book, the chemistry was there, the intrigue and intensity were there.I didn't put the book down once, it's a real page turner.

If you liked book 1 this book will blow you away.

Thank you Siobhan it was / is a fantastic story. Can I have book 3 please... Need more. Its been 10 minutes and I already have a major book hangover....

*I really need to learn how to add gifs to my reviews. I want to go teenage obsession and add loads of love hearts... But as a married mother of 3 it would be unbecoming.

Siobhan Davis is one of those authors who, after just one book, I knew I needed to devour all their work. My introduction came through the Saven series, and since then I have been happy to devour all the books she releases. Throughout it all, the True Calling series has been sitting on my Kindle waiting to be read. It wasn’t that I had no wish to read the series, as I did, I simply found myself reading other things instead. Finally, I’ve reached the point where I’m amending my error and going back to see where it all started.

In truth, I did not enjoy True Calling as much as I had hoped I would. It was interesting enough to keep me turning the pages, but I was never as invested as I had hoped to be. It was fun, but it wasn’t to the calibre of other Siobhan Davis books. Nevertheless, I was curious to see how the second book played out.

With Beyond Reach, I found my feelings to be rather mixed. Part of me enjoyed this one more than I enjoyed True Calling, whereas another part of me did not enjoy it quite as much. It certainly had me turning the pages, it left me desperate to see how everything comes together in the final book, but it did not wow me in the way other Siobhan Davis books have.

I think my biggest issue with Beyond Reach is there were far too many predictable elements for my liking. I knew within no time at all where certain aspects of the story were heading, and this disappointed me as Siobhan Davis is usually one to pull all kinds of twists out of the bag. With this one, there wasn’t really anything that surprised me. All the big things I managed to work out well in advance, and all the smaller details were expected to some degree.

However, I do feel as though more happened within this one. There was a lot more development of the world, with more things taking place throughout the story. This is why my feelings were mixed – even though things were predictable, the story did move forward in some interesting ways. There were plenty of things to enjoy, plenty of things to experience, and this kept me turning the pages despite the fact I’d worked out where things were going.

If I was more invested in the characters, were I not over love triangles, I believe I may have enjoyed this one a bit more than I did. As it is, this was just an okay read. Enjoyable, but far from my favourite Siobhan Davis read.

MY THOUGHTS
So much happens in this book that I really don't know how to feel right now!

Ari is back on Earth with Zane and the rebel organization Clementia. But her family and fiance, Cal, are currently back on Nova and being held hostage. After seeing a video of Cal with the President, Ari is questioning if he has betrayed her, but she can't help but still love him. Then there's Zane, her ex-boyfriend from before her memory was erased. Ari can't help but grow close to Zane.

My synopsis really doesn't really give this book justice. So much happens in this book and I had to leave a lot out because I don't want to ruin the surprise(s). The book begins with Ari's perspective. I had issues with her perspective at first because it was mainly focused on her complicated feelings for Zane and Cal. A lot of stuff about trying to plan how to rescue her family and the Clementia leaders being a-holes also happened, but that was most of it. After that, though, the book picked up pace and introduced so many new surprises and twists! I absolutely loved it!

I loved the different perspectives we saw in this book, much like the last one. I loved when it switched to Zane's perspective and we got an entirely different insight on the events going on and the characters. Different, at least, from Ari. Though, it would have been very interesting to see things from Cal's perspective, but I can definitely understand why that didn't happen.

I looked back at my review for the last book and my only issues seemed to be that I didn't feel like I got enough explanation about the memories and the psychic abilities. I'm glad to say that this book fixed that. Everything was explained and everything added up and make sense!

I did have issues with the romance, but that's not uncommon with books for me. There was actually kind of two love triangles in this book. Ari had one, of course, but I felt like there was one introduced for Zane as well. It actually wasn't the love triangle that bothered me, but I don't like the back-and-forth complicated feelings that come with them.

IN CONCLUSION
Overall, this was a really awesome sequel! So much happened in this book and I was very surprised with every page! I felt like everything was explained and I really can't wait for the sequel! My only issue was the complicated feelings Ari had, but that began to disappear as the book went on. If you enjoy great sci-fi dystopias, I do recommend this series.

This book had a lot of action which I loved. It was a roller coaster ride. Author Siobhan has a great descriptive writing style that is easy to follow and flows really well. She has the right balance between showing verses telling. This review contains spoilers.

One thing I liked throughout this series, is how Ari stays true to her character. She has a strong will and I love that she knows what she wants and sticks to it.
I'm team Cal, all the way. I prefer brunette's, but Cal is one of the rare blonde's that I've made an exception for. Cal is charming and so full of life. He's also funny and kind of a bad boy, so you can't help but fall for him.
So when I 1st started this novel, I was on pins and needles. Then I was taken aback that the government tried to turn Cal against Ari. It reminded me of Mocking Jay, but it was refreshing the way the situation played out.

Part 2 with Zane was both good and frustrating at the same time. I liked the sequence of events and the conflict that happened in Part 2. I was appalled Zane ran and told about Ari's pregnancy. Regardless if he only thought that the government was behind it. He definitely should have talked with Ari 1st. It would have saved a lot of heartache. I also was frustrated with Zane's inner turmoil. Maybe I'm just bias when it comes to men, but I wanted Zane to grow a pair. Being in his head was depressing. And if I'd had a gun, I would have blown my head off.
I get it, I really do. But I don't have a lot of tolerance for guys acting like girls. It was very unfair what happened to him and Ari. But sometimes you have to accept things and try to move on. Ari told him so many times that she loved Cal and that's who she wanted. In one scene I remember saying, "Damn!" out loud. Ari was blatantly honest with him. But Zane was still hoping for a miracle. I would have preferred if Zane had not pined over Ari so much and attempted to move on. However, being in Zane's head did allow me to get to know him better. I actually think he is a good guy. He makes some bad calls, but had good intention, and his heart was in the right place.

Author Siobhan is the queen of cliff hangers. I have all the patience of 5 seconds, so I only like a cliff hanger if the next book is available. Praise Sonar the next installment was ready because I think
I would have lost it.
The ending of this novel was action packed. It left me dying to know how it was going to end. Love triangles are my favorite kind of romance, if they are done well. This triangle is by far one of my favorites. I can't wait to read the final installment.

“It was so hard to switch off knowing Cal is so close yet still beyond reach.”

If you want to read a book that will surely amaze and wreck your heart and mind at the same time, then Beyond Reach is the key. It is the second installment to the True Calling Trilogy, a dystopian, science fiction by Siobhan Davis.

In the first chapter, it totally floored me because action already started, without any pause or segue. YES! Actions and twists were already on the first page. It seems like the book is telling the reader to catch up or he/she will be left behind.

What totally pissed me off is the ending. Miss Siobhan Davis holds every reader in their neck because it is a MAJOR CLIFFHANGER. AND I AM NOT A FAN OF IT. I am crushed and ruined, that I am dying to know what will happen next. Miss Siobhan Davis is not just brilliant but also prudent and every reader must prepare themselves for her!

None of the pages of Beyond Reach is not full of action and twist and because of that one will find oneself reading through pages after pages and feel more astound than ever.

If True Calling is the best, then Beyond Reach is the better best. And I can’t wait for the conclusion of this trilogy which I hope will be better than the better best.

I was thrilled to be asked by the author to read and review, if anyone who reads this follows my blog actively, knows that I am a HUGE fan of The Calling (book 1).

This book picks up where book 1 left off. Ariana is on Earth, without Cal and her family. She's involved with a rebel group called Clementia, which to me seemed just as bad as being on Nova, she traded one slave government for another.

I really cant go into too much detail within the book, you'll just have to read it to find out for yourself, I would hate to give away spoilers, but there were lots of twists and turns and surprise reveals in this one. Lots of action, mixed with inward turmoil of being with Zane, and being without Cal. Conflicts with other characters and rebel members, and a cliffhanger ending of course!

Once again the author took me inside the book and made me feel what the characters felt, and the imagination behind the writing was simply amazing. I was hooked from start to finish. I loved this story, I can't wait for book 3 to come out!

Beyond Reach is the second book to True Calling. I really have no words to describe this book. It was just as good as the first one. It had just enough romance, it was action packed, and it kept you on the edge of your seat at times. I loved that it still had the different point of views from Ariana and Zane. If you read my review of True Calling then you know I'm rooting for Zane no matter what happens. My love for him has grown while reading the second book. With any book that's a sequel or a trilogy, of course they always end in a cliffhanger, and boy was this one good. Reading the last page left my jaw on the floor. I have a lot of questions that need to be answered, so I'm excited for the third book to see how this is all going to end.

~Thanks to the author for providing an advance review copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review~

OMG. What a book. That ending though... Mindblowing. I can't stress how much I love this series. I know lots of readers wouldn't read True Calling because it's Indie, but it's a great book, and it's certainly worth reading. No hesitation is needed. Siobhan Davis really develops the characters from True Calling in Beyond Reach. Every piece of Beyond Reach has something special to it. When I first looked at the length of Beyond Reach, I thought it would drag, and I'd end up not liking it. In the end, I realised that I was right to put my faith into True Calling. Beyond Reach was truly amazing! What do I say? Go and read it now!!!

What another heart pounding and gut wrenching installment!

This book has it all swoon worthy romance, gut wrenching scenes, and some of the most evil people on earth.

I love Arianna in this book. Arianna has been through so much and she has been separated from Cal. I can only imagine how much she has to go through. However, she remains incredibly strong throughout the book. She is still her sassy self and is incredibly selfless. Her actions are reckless and risky but what I love is that she learns from her mistakes. Arianna is one heroine who really knows how to set the bar high.

Cal. Poor Cal. I just feel so sad for him. How much does this boy have to go through. When we meet him again in this book, things do not look good at all. The few weeks after he has gone through some pretty horrifying things. The experiments, the torture is just horrendous. And his big swoon worthy action at the end of book one and now to repaid with this is just gut wrenching. But Cal is still same old Cal. He is incredibly loyal and selfless. I love his love towards Ariana in this book. His love for her is what grounds him towards his humanity. He kind of like my Daemon Black.

Zane, on the other hand, kind of irked me very much in this book. I get where he is coming from, but man, his hypocrisy made me feel that he is unequal for Ariana. Ariana is so much better than Zane. I’m a worshipper for Team Cal. However, there are moments I did like Zane. He is genuinely a good guy. I really hope he earns his happily ever after.

Man, my most favorite part of the book is the entire suspense. There is so much more revealed in this book. Some of the truths are pretty horrifying. I can’t imagine how evil the entire government of Novo and Earth are. They are pretty much dictators who have no regard for humanity. However, Davis does a great job keeping the suspense. It is moving and it does not repeat.

Overall, this is a great second installment. Great job Davis on this second installment. I can’t wait to read the conclusion to this series!

The first book in the series, 'True Calling' (reviewed on my blog www.hywelalyn.blogspot.com on 15th April) really had me hooked and I was keen to find out what happened to Ari and who out of her two possible suitors she would end up with.

'True Calling' ended on a cliff hanger, and as 'Beyond Reach' opens, Arianna is apparently safe, back on earth with the rebel organizaition, Clementia. However her sister, fiance and mother are still on Novo and she is faced with bargaining for their lives, as she witholds vital information entrusted by her father.

There are so many twists and turns in this story, it almost leaves one breathless (in a good way.) It is difficult to know who Ari should trust, people and organizations who appear to be working for the 'greater good' and who you feel she is safe with, have a tendency to show another side and as the tension builds in the book, so does the excitement, and sense of danger.

The first and third parts of the book are told from Ari's point of view, and the middle is from Zane's. Having had both points of view in the first book, I found it easier to adjust to the change this time and having Zane's point of view as well as Ari's certainly adds another dimension to the story.

As in the first book, one of the main strengths of 'Beyond Reach' is the characterization, and the author's ability to really make the reader feel they are 'living' the events on the page. As well as Ari, Zane and Cal, there is a great cast of supporting characters. I still feel Ari is a bit naive, although she has certainly matured in this book, but I find it surprising that she has not yet put 'two and two' together about an event that happened while she was participating in 'The Calling', but there again I could be chasing a red herring myself! The world building is effective and well drawn and had no trouble visualizing the various locations.

I kept fluctuating between Cal and Zane. As fast as I felt she belonged with the one, I found myself rooting for the other. Siobahn Davis has a knack of piling up one question after the other, and just as you think one question has been answered, something happens that makes you wonder if that's really the case. It takes a skilful writer to structure a novel with so many uncertainties, while still making the story flow seamlessly and and in a way that is perfectly believable. Again the book ended on a cliffhanger, but I was more prepared for it this time and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

“Everything changed the moment I found you. I changed.”

It’s been so long since I’ve been this emotionally invested in a book/series. I cannot wait for the next book especially because that ending…cliff hanger!

I had thought the first book True Calling was pretty great, Beyond Reach was even more amazing. I would first like to thank NetGalley for approving me to receive this ebook ahead of its release, and would also like to thank the author Siobhan Davis herself for being in contact with me.

One of the things I really love about this series is the characters. It is impossible not to feel the pain, love and longing radiating from Zane. He continues to protect Ari and care for her even when it pains him to do so, even when he knows his feelings for her may be unrequited. Ari herself is just a jumble of emotions: she loves Cal, but at the same time, she cannot deny the feelings stirring inside her whenever she is with Zane; she may not remember being in love with Zane before her move to Nova, but the connection they had is still there even if the memories are not. Cal…I have always been a bit skeptical about him. Sometimes I like him, other times not-so-much. This is why I never like love triangles; I almost feel like I am the one caught in the middle of the two, trying to decide which guy I want to be with – its too much for a girl to handle, especially Ari who has other things she needs to deal with. However, Davis makes the love triangle work in this series. In other series, it feels as though love triangles are just thrown in for the heck of it, not really there to serve any real purpose to the plot but Davis does not do that, and that is really quite refreshing.

I could talk about this book/series forever; I have grown so attached to the characters and their story but if I were to keep talking, I would probably end up spoiling something which I really do not want to do. This second installment is fast-paced and heart wrenching. It is full of so many twists and turns, some you may see coming but also others that are like a huge slap in the face, completely unexpected. The world building was fantastic and I loved how we got to see more of what was happening down on Earth.

The only complaint I have is the ending – the huge, massive cliff hanger. I complain because I am dying to know what happens next and the thought of waiting for the next book is dreadful. However, it was a perfect place to stop because there’s no way someone can read that ending and decide, “I don’t want to read the next book.” This series has a little bit of everything and I highly recommend it.

Beyond Reach is the sequel to True Calling, and we continue to follow Ari soon after the ending of Book 1. As I like to keep all of my ‘sequel reviews’ spoiler-free, I won’t dive into too much detail on what exactly takes place in this book.

At first, I found the story to be pretty steady/slow. Not too much was going on, so I wasn’t feeling as hyped up as I did during the first book. It wasn’t until the middle and end that the action and suspense really rose to the top. There were ALOT more tragic events that took place throughout the storyline. The characters really knew how to get on each others’ nerves. There are tons of blackmail, deception, torture, discoveries and fighting that you will want to continue to the end.

Towards the end of True Calling, I had a few suspicions on what was going on in the background involving Ari and the situations she was placed into during the pageant, and let me tell ya, my suspicion was right! When you get to the end of Part 1, you will be stunned out of nowhere. When she said what she said, I literally wanted to scream “Called it!” I had an itching that a couple of events were going to transpire throughout Beyond Reach’s story that I was drawn in completely.

At first, I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars due to the slowness and I had a little trouble reading a few times. I may have been distracted while I was finishing the book, so maybe that had something to do with it, but I ended up giving Beyond Reach 4 out of 5 stars. The middle and ending was such a thriller that I feel like it compensates for the beginning. I had a lot of fun reading this! The characters get on your nerves and you end up cheering for them which is great to feel from a book.

The ending does end on a MAJOR cliffhanger! All I am going to say about it is that I absolutely wished I had the third book in front of me so I could find out what she was going to say! Definitely a book I will be picking up very soon.

From the first two books so far, this is a really great series. The writing is very well done, the characters draw you in, and if you love romance, this series will be perfect for you. Siobhan writes very beautifully. I definitely recommend her book so far!

First I would like to thank Siobhan Davis and NetGalley for giving me an ARC of this book for an honest review.

I have to say to you… I liked True Calling but this one was even better. This book starts where True Calling finished and with Ariana back to earth without her family and without Cal. Throughout the book you can see her development as a character and her struggle about who she should trust and how she feels about Cal and Zane. So yeah, it was great to see her growth in this book. However, there were sometimes that I wanted to scream at her for some bad decisions. If you read my True Calling you might know that I didn’t trust Cal but meanwhile I’ve read the novella Lovestruck and I actually thought that I was wrong and I was happy about that. But then I’ve read this book and I wasn’t totally wrong about not trusting Cal. He did some stupid things but I now understand why he did it. And then there’s Zane. I love his bond with Ariana and how we can see how much he loves her with his actions. Also, after the cliffhanger that this book had I’m really excited to see the story is going take Ariana, Zane and Cal and I’m mostly excited to know what Ariana remembered. I’m pretty sure that it’s going to be a big part of the next book. Another thing is that there is so much happening in this book that there isn’t a boring part in this book because there is always something that happens that changes the direction of the story and I really liked it. My only problem with that was that sometimes it was a little bit rushed but overall I was really happy with this book. There were moments that I couldn’t leave my book because something would happen and I needed to know what was coming next. I’m talking to you Chapter 11 last sentence… I was thinking that this thing could happen but I really thought that I was wrong so that wasn’t expected at all.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I’m really excited to see how it’s going to end. The plot was amazing and the author’s writing was pretty good. I actually think that Siobhan Davis writing improved in this book. If you like this type of books and if you like to be surprised read this book.

True Calling book one was my first experience of this genre and I adored it, the characters, the setting, the excitement and the pacing. Here, back on earth, the pacing was as good, with the shocks coming fast and hard. From the start I was trying to figure out who Ariana could trust, and where the traps were going to appear and I was surprised most times. The chases were epic, and I beyond enjoyed the fighting scenes as well as the technology. I found I missed Novo a little, whether it was the idea of it, as when she had been in Novo she was trying to figure out what was going on on Earth and so some of the element of surprise was taken away.
The characters were great in terms of both the people who were helping her and her enemies, with a big grey line separating most of them, thus confusing me as to who was ACTUALLY good, and who was bad, making me want to read on.
The one issue I had was with the romance in this though that could be an age thing, coupled with the fact that I have no experience in the genre. I found them to be a bit too obsessed by the love triangle, especially at times they were in actual bodily danger. All three, Zane, Cal and Ariana couldn’t stop analyzing each other, and Ariana was overly dramatic and almost self obsessed quite regularly. I really liked all three when it came to the eventful parts where they were trying to escape, but then Ariana would practically swoon over Cal and would be so awful to Zane, with her regularly saying how hard everything was on her and how she had to look after herself. However the ‘let’s go’ hero parts, when they came, showed Zane’s strength and almost made up for his puppy dog behavior around Ariana.
The descriptions of the locations were AMAZING, I was wherever they were and the ending banged me on the head. What with this, the suspense, the technology and action, I will definitely be grabbing for the rest of this series and possibly purchasing for others for Christmas (I have just seen there’s a box-set!)

I read this as part of a Net Galley ARC.I loved True Calling and was really looking forward to reading this second novel!

After reading a few pages into this novel, I realized I had forgotten so many crucial things about the first novel. So, I quickly re-read True Calling and then started back up the second installment in the series. I was happily surprised with the progression of the book. It was fast-paced, action packed and heart wrenching! There really were so many twists and turns and highs and lows in this book. It was amazing!! And I loved every moment of it! I am beyond elated with this series, it is one of those gems you always hope to find! This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn't put it down until I knew the ending. And now, I don't know what I'm going to do with myself until the next book! Thankfully Siobhan is taking it easy on us & releasing the next book out at the end of this year! YAY! Thank you for not torturing us!!!haha

I just want to add that Siobhan is such a wonderful writer. She has created such an intriguing story that is bound to captivate even the hardest of critics. If you love suspense, action, and a good love story then you are bound to love this star-crossed tale!
She is just so eloquent with her descriptions and allows the readers to feel like they are seeing the events as they transpire. I loved that the novel didn't have any "fluff" writing{it was all necessary and added to the plot}. If you have read True Calling and you were thinking about reading Beyond Reach, then Definitely DO! It is even better than the first, which I thought was pretty hard to do, the first time I read it!!

A great second installment to the True Calling series.

This story picks up on Earth with Ariana. She's now faced with evidence that Cal may have betrayed her as well as an ever attentive ex-boyfriend who's determined to win her back. Add to that a good dose of political intrigue, and she (and the reader) are left wondering who they can trust. It makes for a gripping read.

I must admit I love this story. It's well-told with just enough info leaking out at just the right time to keep you turning pages well-past your bedtime. I enjoyed the political aspects, because they give us insight into the world and add a sense of danger. Even the love triangle, though often referred to as overused in YA, is executed in exemplary fashion. It really could go any way, no matter whom Ariana professes to love, leaving this aspect of the story delightfully unpredictable.

On the downside, other things do happen as expected as hinted in the previous book and this one. Additionally, some of the major reveals kind of left me wondering why I should care. Unfortunately, I cannot give you more detail as that would involve revealing spoilers. There's a bit more fiction-heavy science in this one, though that would probably only bug folks who focus on such things.

Overall, I loved this story for its quick pace, complex plot, and spot-on love triangle. Fans of YA science fiction/dystopian will likely love this story, and I have no trouble saying that I highly recommend this book and this series. I look forward to number 3.

I received a copy of this book as a read to review from Netgalley.

Brilliant and amazing just do not do the book justice at all. This book is just wow. Zayn's patience and loving nature just proves the bond between him and Ari. Ari gains her memories back by the end and realises everything. She remembers everything and she tells Zane she needs him. However the book ends there. We do not hear him reply. We don't know if he's even still alive. We don't get to find out any of the new memories brought to life by the removal of the vita. Hopefully all of this and more will be covered in the next books which I can't wait to read! They're all gonna be just as amazing as this one.

Sioban is a brilliant writer. This is the only book I've ever cried about or gotten angry and so emotional about. The longing and love and pain that you could literally feel radiating from Zane yet he still protects her and loves her with his entirety. You can literally feel Ari's guilt and despair rolling off the pages. At the end of the book she realises that she needs Zane and loves Zane too. I just hope shes realised in time and can manage to get through to him and let him know.

In the next book I really hope Zane and Ariana end up together because even though he's done nothing but prove he's trustworthy, I'm still curious and skeptical of Cal.

From what we can see Ari and Zane belong together. I just hope Zane can hold out a little longer.

10/10.. all in all a very good book. I will be reading the next books in the series.

Actual rating: 4.5

I would have given this a 5 but I think some parts were too rushed. Some scenes defiantly should have been dragged out more.

There were some emotional moments in this book that didn't really hit me because I think it went by too fast. this book wasn't long so I feel it could have totally been dragged out a bit.

Other than that I really loved this book

Cal

Zane

Ending:

Overall such a great book. I need the next one noooow

Having escaped Novo Ariana, Zane along with others are back on Earth. Caught between Clementia and a Corrupt government they struggle to find an ally, Refusing to share Important information entrusted to her by her father, Ariana tries to barter for the rescue of her remaining family still trapped on Novo. But the stacks are getting higher, people are getting restless, and it becoming increasingly dangerous to remain where they are. With Zane by her side and Cal's arrival to earth It is even harder to trust herself as she is being pulled mind and heart by everyone she loves.

I like it. A great follow up to "True Calling" It started off a little slow going but picked up where it needed to. There are some shocking and some OMG moments that I never saw coming and the cliffhanger! SMH I want to know what she remembered?!?!?. Can't wait for the next book, which I expect given this follow up, will be fantastic

Whew. I am still trying to wrap my head around everything that happened in this book. I mean, it was nonstop shit going down and life-changing revelations. I definitely feel for Zane after reading this, but Cal has my heart. I'm glad Ari finally figured out what was wrong with her, but there are still questions to be answered. And the potential ick/creep factor is massive. Some characters returned, but others were lost along the way. People who couldn't be trusted before were suddenly allies... it was crazy! I'm so excited to see where the story goes in the final book, and I especially hope Ari and Zane's big secret is revealed right away. It's driving me crazy not knowing!

Gripping, Exciting and Intense

Beyond Reach is the sequel of the True Calling and it picks up right from where the first book has eneded. The book is packed with a lot of action, new secrets are being revealed, a lot of twists and turns and the pages are filled with pure excitement. The writing style makes it even easier to get lost in the book and live alongside the characters.

While True Calling makes the intorductions with the new world humans were moved to due to a catastrophy – Novo – and also we meet the characters and the struggles which they have to face in their new home; Beyond Reach is bound to keep us on high alert with each page and ask ourselves who’s trustworthy and who isn’t.

Part 1 begins with Ariana who learns that things on Earth are as bad as they were on Novo. While she’s being held into the Clementia’s undrground facility in Connecticut for protection, she constantly refuses to giveaway the stolen information her father entrusted her with, they even tell her that Cal was simply playing on for the both sides – she refuses to believe that. She feels betrayed by the fact that they didn’t bring her mother and sister along too, and they refuse to do so. She decides to enrole on the pilot exam with the thought of getting her family back. Now that the Novo government has put a price on her capture, she’s bound to be even more careful than ever before. She comes up with a plan of rescuing her loved ones that couldn’t make it with her on Earth on the first mission and coopts Zane – who tends to agree with her little crazy plan, and proposes other people like Mel and Ben. The only problem with the plan is how they’ll get in and out of the Novo penitantiary without being caught. In meantime, she receives a message from the Novo President Calavero, a message that’s making her to jump right into the hands of the Rangers, without thinking the idea further.

I recall having no problems with Isla in the first book, but now I’m really starting to hate her,her behaviour, the way she treats Ariana – when she should basically mind her own damn business – and even more so, how can she call – at least not out loud, but it’s obvious - Zane her „propperty”. I mean, he doesn’t even look at her that way, and she’s clearly having some problems with mixing up signals.
I like Ariana a lot, her way of getting through bad situations – except the bad decision making – seems to always be light, she treats it like it’s nothing. She’s a really tough girl who can defend herself at times and she showed it quite a lot in the last few chapters. But despite her good qualities, she’s extremely stubborn at times and not just once did her stubberness get her into trouble. Harming Ariana, brings nothing good for Isla, just right the opposite of it. Being unable to take any more of the constant girl fighting, Zane has decided to end his friendship with her, but this doesn’t help with anything because Isla’s hate toward Ariana proves to get even bigger by the day.
With each passing day, Zane and Ari are getting closer and closer – again – only that, now, out of nowhere or maybe not, Cal is there too, now, and her feelings and thoughts start to confuse her all the more. She doesn’t know which boy to pick and regardless of her choice, one of them will end up hurt.

Apparently, the Novo government decided to send Cal on Earth – in a new form, of course – to retrieve Ariana and bring her along with the stolen information that everyone craves so much. Now, the one who does not remember anything is him, and it breaks Ariana’s heart into a million pieces. While, he’s being kept under strict surveillance and allowed only to short visits, Ariana manages to tell him a big news, which will change everything.

PART 2 is about Zane Ariana’s long “lost” – if I can call it that – first love, who promised both, her dad and himself to bring them safely back to Earth and keep them safe. Even with all the years they’ve been apart, he still loves her and never fails to show her. What she doesn’t know is that, the day she went to visit Cal in his hospital room to comfort him; he was there all along and heard her confession to Cal.

Recently, things turn out hasty down at the compound as Chanchelor Corr and Kloon are trying their hardest, to get their hands on the vial information and furthermore they decide to place Cal under arrest no matter his health condition. A lot of blackmailing starts to go on, and there seems to be more to Corr and Kloon than we were lead to believe and they’re slowly coming to the surface as Zane digs deeper and deeper. It’s just only a matter of time until Ariana finds out that he’d received Cal’s medical records back from Novo and their little closeness will get shattered once again into a million pieces. Once Ariana decides to shut him out, during one mental snooping, he decides to open up his info gear and sees an email from someone who was presumed to be dead, by everyone.

Part 3 She learns to develop her extrasensorial gift even more with Raina’s help – the Clementia’s psychic – through a lot of exercise and manages to save Cal from the torture Agent Dale puts him through while imprisoned, this time along with her and Zane. She starts having dreams of her mom and what’s going on back on Novo. While she and Cal are out spying on Corr and Kloon, they get stuck for a moment in the hangar where they were hiding in, but soon find a way out through a hatch in the Chanchelor’s bedroom. The moment Cal slides down the hatch he takes a big fall and hurts his head, which leads to his memory recover.

She manages to break through Zanes barrier and once she gets through it, she sees him and her dad talking. After that short brief mind-encounter, she decides that it’s time for some proper explanations, towards, Cals own actions – betrayal, if that’s the case. While, in the woods, he confides her in the smallest detail possible and chooses the right words to do so. The questions that follow are : Is Ariana, going to be able to forgive and forget his actions, and move on as couple ? Or will she end up things with him and go into the arms of Zane, even though the reasoning behind Cal’s decisions and actions, were intended to protect her ?!
As their planned escape has gone swell, there’s still a hint of something not quite in place. Will they make it to the Florida compound safe or will they be shot down by Clementia ?!

The ending is pretty explosive and leaves you yearning for more, wondering if they’ll manage to survive the Clementia’s attack or not.

OMG. That is pretty much all I can say to properly express this book. I loved the first book very much, but this.....*input words when thought of*

The author does such a good job of tying the books together. There were small hints here or there in the first book that pop up in this book. I wanted to jump up and scream "I KNEW IT!!" but I refrained so I didn't scare my dog to the point of heart failure. She does such a good job of giving you little tidbits of information but not revealing it until way later in the books, sometimes it seems you won't know until the next book.

This book is set back on Earth in various location around the compound that Ariana and Zane are in. You get detailed descriptions as you go, so even if it still has futuristic qualities to it, you are able to picture it all as you go.

As in the first book, I still can't decide who I want Ariana with. I was thinking that one boy would win out over the other, but it didn't happen. I still love Cal as well as Zane. I have a slight lean towards Zane, but it changed back and forth through the book. The way the book ended put me slighty towards Zane, but again I think that could very well change in the next book. The way the book ended gave me the feeling that the next book will have some important information come out right away for me to be able to decide once and for all.

Ariana did seem very selfish to me in this book. I do understand it all, but she does tend to hurt people with her actions along the way. I still really like her as a character but there are times when I want to strangle her for what she does. She gets so single minded in her ways that the rest of the world seems oblivious to her. When she finally realizes what she has done, she curls into a shell of guilt. I have seen her grow so much from the first book and I know she is about to change even more before the trilogy is over.

Zane is one of my favorite characters. He is so sweet in all that he does, though I can also say he is pretty single minded as well. He doesn't intentionally hurt anyone which is so sweet. Even when he does make mistakes bigger than he ever imagined, Ari is all that he still sees. That kind of devotion is so heartwarming.

There are other characters that show up in this book that you met here or there in the first book, but you really get to meet them in this book. Most of them give you a huge sense of anger that you wish you were in the book to make them pay for all they do to others. It is amazing the amount of emotion the author can pull out of you as you read along.

The book is a longer book compared to a lot of books coming out, but it wasn't a book that felt drawn out. Each and everything she types into words is important. The smallest things pop up later in the book to have a bigger meaning than you could ever have thought. She is able to write scenes that are slower but still drag you further and further into the world that you are devouring with your eyes. I read quite a bit of books, and even if I give something 5 stars, it doesn't mean that it completely floored me. This book has sucked me in and left me speechless when I ended it.

The author in her typical style of the last book has left us with a huge cliffhanger. She gave so many little hints that there is something huge about to happen, but she left you with all of it at the end. You want to scream and say that you need the next book. In a good way though :) It isn't the type of ending that leaves you angry. It is a very suspenseful that will leave me wanting to bite my nails (which I don't even do!) until the next and final book of the trilogy finally comes out so I can get all my answers!!

Once I got my hands on Beyond Reach, I was so excited. All the event in the previous book had me on the edge and when I had to stop my adventure briefly due to not having the second book. It killed me with suspense.

I'm going to try and tell you about this book without too many spoilers so that you guys can also buy it and read it as well as the first book in the series.

Going into the second book, you get glimpses of Ariana's head. How emotional she was when dealing with the aftermath of the first book's events. Personlly I was okay with it(mainly because I'm so team Zane all the way :) )

Event after event and plot twist after plot twist, this book kept me full of emotion and I was literally in tears by the end of the book. The big events that happened was completely worth the wait.

The characters undergo some development as they journey more into their heads and dealing with such new changes and people. Trust is an extremely hard thing and Ariana is still caring and determined. Characters over all amazing. The relationships venture deeper in Zane and Ariana's connection and they have to deal with so many hurdles. When something shocking is discovered, All of these characters are thrown in for another round of crazy and for the reader, that means more suspense.

As a reader, I'd have to say my favorite thing about this book is how the author keeps the character human. Ariana is faced with so many problems and within these problems, she hows her vulnerability. She isn't too hard and strong, but when the ones she loves are in danger, she'll do whatever it takes to keep them safe. That's what I like in a heroine. Emotion, vulnerability, determination, caring, strong etc.

One thing that I'd say I wasn't a big fan of was with the setting. Yes Clementia was a rebel organization, but when I was reading, I didn't really pick up much about the organization itself. With books about rebels, I usually expect to see some more side action from them. I know that they were shadowy and such, that's what I thought. Although some connections were mentioned, I didn't think they were up front enough. And with Cal. I didn't get how he was able to get back to himself so fast. I thought that when he made an appearance.... Well I don't want to spoil anything too big. But I didn't really agree with the logic of that especially with all that happened.

Moving onto the cover, It was sooo pretty I fell in love with it. Better than the first book's cover. It really represents the science fiction feel of the novel and the girl on the cover was pretty and just standing there which gives the cover a mysterious and eerie feeling to it. Great job!

Finally I would recommend this book to readers who love science fiction and a book with suspense and shocking discoveries. This is a young adult novel and it is a SEQUEL of the True Calling Series. Before you read the sequel by accident, make sure to read the first book "True Calling". BE sure to check it out and I'm sure that you'll enjoy it.
