"For A Few Souls More" is the fantastic conclusion to the Heaven's Gate trilogy, probably the most creative, imaginative, ingenious series of books you will read. Once every hundred years, Wormwood appears, a town that sometimes is a Tibetan village and sometimes is a western town and could be just about anything else as well. But what is important is that it is a town surrounded by an invisible barrier which is also a gateway to Heaven and Hell.

In the preceding two books, a number of groups of intrepid travelers have journeyed to Wormwood to see for themselves the wonders and to set foot in the forbidden places without first dying. Now, something has happened. The barrier has fallen and the gates are open. Adams take the reader on a journey into Heaven, a place nearly uninhabited where endless dreams come true and the crowded circles of Hell, where all manner of fell creature has manifested and bargains are to be made. This book completes the trilogy and is all about the wide world's eyes opening to what has appeared in their midst and how can they deal with what is coming out of the depths of hell and who is going to be in charge now.

This book is neither a western nor a weird thing and is not steampunk. It is simply a wild leap of imagination that is just absolutely terrific to behold. It may take a new reader a bit to get used to all the different characters and some are, to be truthful, beyond your experience, but this book, like the entire series, is worth the effort to read. The concepts are truly staggering and it will take you places you never imagined you would step foot in before death.

This was a confusing end to the trilogy. It seemed very rushed and I'm not even sure where some of the characters went - they were killed or vanished so quickly! Shame as the first 2 books were good.

A disappointing end to the trilogy on the whole. Part of the problem was that pretty much nothing happens for over 2/3 of the book, which meant that I got bored with it and put it aside for about 6 weeks. By the time I returned to the story I had pretty much forgotten what was going on.

The final third of the book had a lot more action, and a conclusion of sorts, but it's too little, too late. It even had a God substitute lampshading the plot issues in a few brief chapters. It's a real shame that the story let the world building and a whole (demonic) host of characters down.

A decent conclusion to the trilogy. The book seemed to drag a bit for me as it was busy maneuvering its characters into place, and in doing so ignored some of the more fun and interesting characters already established.A lot of the major characters from previous books do not get a lot to do, while other new characters do most of the work in this one. The ending is suitably happy for a conclusion, while not getting to overly optimistic, especially considering the overall tone of the book.

This is the second series by Adams that I've read. I really enjoyed the Clown Service series, but this one just never really grabbed me, and this final volume did nothing to redeem the other two. I felt a lot of it was just playing for shock value. Not awful, but not much more than average, and in the end, not really my kind of series. Just as well this was the last book.

I loved the series, but this book was a little disappointing as a finale. But maybe that's because I was so interested in Lucifer, and he barely featured in it.

Patrick's character arc was really satisfying, though. And Biter, oh Biter, he will be my favorite canine demon forever.

Low key ending to the trilogy, but still full of enough action and humour to warrant 4 stars.

Loved first two books but hated this one. It didn't feel like a part of the trilogy as introduced new characters and situations. Disappointed in this as the first two were so good.

It was a sad day for me turning over and finishing the last page of ‘for a few souls more.’ Guy Adams, in writing the ‘heavens gate trilogy’ has written a blinder of a tale, mixing up flat out oldschool spaghetti western style gritty action with the twist of demons being the bad guys. You really do need to read the previous two instalments to be able to fully appreciate this one. A lot of knitting together loose ends of previous plots and characters that were somehow forgotten about all turn up and fulfil a purpose in for a few souls more, which has been as entertaining in action as it has been engrossing with it’s characters. Adams has shown some serious skills all the way through each of the three novels here and deserves to be recognised as a genuine talent.

Out of the three books of this "Heaven's Gate" trilogy, I liked this least. It had neither the freshness of the first volume, nor the crackling mixture of horror & humour that had simply ignited the pages while I had breathlessly rushed through them. Here, it was more a conspiracy-oriented downward spiral, and consequently, everybody & everything felt duller. The humour was practically gone, rather excessively substituted by despair & loss.

Overall, didn't like the book. Perhaps it shows what happens to those who walk towards heaven's gate with too much expectations.

The train got a little loose in book 2 but goes completely off the rails in this one.
