What happens when fantasy becomes reality?

Kendra was a normal girl trying to finish out her senior year of high school. Little did she know what Fate had in store for her. Cade McCoy was a natural born protector, or so his friends told Kendra. Personally, she just thought he was an overbearing caveman with good looks, and an unexplainable need to watch over her. After one shocking afternoon when fantasy became reality, she soon found herself immersed in wolf shifter pack life, while trying to keep their secret from her own kind, humans.

A chance encounter with another pack forces the McCoy Pack to appear before the High Council to atone for their actions. The real kicker? Apparently she’s not as human as she thought.

Join Kendra as she begins her journey to discover her past, learn about her present, and transform the future…for all shifters.

I enjoy reading and writing about all kinds of fiction. The chance to immerse yourself into a story and feel like you are actually there, witnessing everything unfold, is fantastic. When I’m not cramming in time to write down a scene that has been playing out in my head, I volunteer with different groups that help out my community, spend time with family, and try to make a difference with my full-time job at a substance abuse agency.

I enjoy reading and creating stories about different time periods, paranormal, urban fantasy, time travel, contemporary, and science fiction. While most of these are a work in progress, I hope to have more for you in the future. I’m still learning every day about the writing process and have to remember that when it is all done, I FINALLY get to share the story with you.

The end of the book states that the next in the series will be released late 2015, but it's not out yet. I read the first book in one night... It was so good that I couldn't put it down. I'm definitely ready for the next!

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. What a fantastic debut novel! I really am glad that I gave this book a chance. Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down!!!
Kendra's difficult past has her feeling like a constant outsider, she keeps her feelings guarded and is hesitant to let people in. A run in with a close knit group of teenagers changes everything for her.
For those who say that this book reminds them of Twilight, I couldn't disagree more.
It's true that there are some similarities, I can see where is seems that some ideas were borrowed and rewritten but in truth, what supernatural story these days doesn't have some sort of resemblance? I truly didn't walk away from the novel feeling like I'd just reread Twilight all over again.
For me, I felt like the story line was intriguing enough to stand on it's own. The characters are easy to like and the dialogue and description are well written.
I will certainly be downloading the next book in the series, I just wish it was coming out sooner. :)

I only read the first book "Hidden"
All I can say is SERIOUSLY!!!

17 year old girl moves to a tiny little town. There is a family/group that takes her in but they do not interact with anyone else in school.
She finally fits in her parents are happy she has finally found friends!
The oldest boy Cade in the group who is gorgeous likes her but they can't be together.
She starts to fall off a trailer and one of the boys somehow makes it over to save her but he couldn't have been close enough to do that?
There is a human boy at school who likes her but thinks it is strange that she hangs out with the group.
Sounding familiar?? It should.
Other than the fact that it is werewolf's instead of Vampires how much more can you copy "Twilight"?
It did have some unique ideas such as the main character being a "latent wolf" which is a wolf that has to learn how to shift. Until she shifts she will not know if Cade is her lifemate.
But honestly I already read Twilight and this had way to many similarities that it just ticked me off not sure if I will read any of the other books in this series.

Great read 4-4.5 stars

Well written book with a great storyline from a new author. I can't wait for the next in the trilogy. Suggestion to author...get your info out there on Goodreads and maybe a FB page for your books so it will be easy enough to follow you and info on when the next book is released. Your series is worth it!

Wish I hadn't read the 3.5 review first

I read the review listing this as 3.5 before downloading it with KU. So because the other reviewer compared this to Twilight, the whole time I was reading I tried to find comparisons which drove me batty. I usually don't dispute other opinions because everyone has one, but I think the Twilight comparison is wrong. The reviewer said the h is a baby vamp, umm that is not what she was called at the end; compared the rich parents, I find that many characters are made rich in stories it easily explains away private airplanes, multiple cars, expensive gifts, and whatever else; and the H picking up h every more, in this case I think the H is an uber alpha male trying to spend time with the girl he is drawn to. I think if I hadn't read the other review I wouldn't have tried to compare at all.

I was quickly drawn into the story by the characters and read it in one sitting. I am looking forward to the next part, and can only hope it comes soon. This is a YA shifter romance, but it is sweet over explicit, only kissing.

So after having constant 3 stars in recent reads, I'm so happy and glad to give this a 5 star! I wish so badly I had the next book to jump into. And seeing as this was the authors first book or at least one of the first. I am crying out for a second one!

It was a bit like Twilight, I will give all the haters that. That is a fair point I was thinking it before I read other reviews. But I enjoyed this more than those books. Its different vampires are not sparkly, there are no vampires. Wolves are ok, soft and fluffy but still pretty scary when they fancy.

She is super special girl as she isn't human but she could be the next coming (although who knows if we will get a second book to find out)

Overal a very good read and I hope the author will surface and publish her next book!!!

Come onnnnnnnn

I honestly really like this book. I've been liking this book since I bought it about two years ago now. I hope the author is well, but I'm ready for the series to be completed. This is a great story for anyone looking for an interesting yet east read. It isn't dense or overtly complicated like some shifter/werewolf novels can be. If she can see these reviews: your loyal audience is ready.

What is hidden?

Enjoyable characters, a few to hate, and a stuffy hierarchy to stay clear of. Young attraction and love. D ifferent than I expected and glad of it. Ready for the next book.

This is a very interesting book. Kendra is 17 and has been through the foster care system since her parents left her. Her foster parents and her have moved to a small town and this is where her problems begin.

There's a group of kids that watch her and one of them, Cade, seems to want to be nasty to her and order her around. He ends up saying that she is now part of their group (without asking her permission or explaining anything), he shows up at her door and at school she's expected to sit with them.

To me this signals a guy that is an abuser, both emotionally and probably physically, and, again at this point, she was within her rights to tell him off good and loud and, if necessary, report him to the school and/or the police (since he was basically trespassing on her family's property and everything he's done and said has been without her explicit permission.)

Then things change when she finds out that a young boy can change into a wolf. From that point on things get explained and the behavior of Cade and the others can sort of be understood but I still think he should have done a lot more explaining and a lot less controlling.

As usual in these books there's a 'High Council' that gets involved and there's a major revelation for Kendra. There's also other forms of shifters but the High Council represents only the wolves with the others being given no voice so this leads into other things happening.

So, she's going to be going to college and it becomes obvious that something different is going to be happening there. What it's effect will be on the relationship between her and Cade and her and the other wolves looks like it's going to be pretty major.

The characters were done well (although I still consider Cade to be a high-level creep) and the basic story itself is quite good.

Definitely young adult with writing tone and style. I did like the group though and Cade - while overbearing at first - grew on me. Review soon.

Reviewers who say this book is Twilight Redux are right:

17 year old moves to small town in pacific northwest, starts in a new school

Steve = Charlie, protective, good-natured, in local law enforcement

Cassie = Alice, fan of fashion and shopping, social calendar organizer

Cade = Edward creepy stalking Bella/Kendra at night at her house

Tyler = Mike, nice, mostly wholesome, local human boy, foil of normalcy for supernatural world

Cade, werewolf mechanic = Jacob, werewolf mechanic

Kendra and Bella both given vintage cars to fix up and tootle around town

Brody zips to save Kendra from falling from trailer = Edward zips to save Bella from Tyler’s van

Bree can send calming vibes to others = Jasper can manipulate the feelings of others, calm Bella

Cade runs Kendra through the woods = Edward runs Bella through the woods

High Council = Volturi

Lifemates = imprinting

Kendra worried about heartbreak if Cade meets his lifemate in another = Leah is shunted aside when Sam imprints on Emily

Cade carves his wolf for a present for Kendra = Jacob carves his wolf for Bella’s charm bracelet

The story is different enough to not feel like plagiarism, and I have no problem with writers taking inspiration from each other… but some of these things are a leap too far. Like, BOTH boys carve their wolf as a gift for their ladies? I’m sorry, that’s just way too specific, and feels like lazy creativity.

Then there’s the teenaged red-flag-abusive/controlling relationship. Admittedly, Cade does seem to change his controlling ways (somewhat) about halfway through the book, but to me, it was too much.

-Kendra complains: “He’s trying to dictate who I can hang out with or talk to.” And Nicole basically says, it’s just because he likes you.

-Kendra tells Cade to back off multiple times and he doesn’t take no for an answer, insists on driving her to/from school, won’t let her walk anywhere alone.

-Kendra, Cassie, and Bree have to lie and use subterfuge to go somewhere without the boys, a party the boys wouldn’t like. Cade demands to know where and with whom the girls are going at all times.

-“I thought about not answering [his text message], but figured after our…confrontation…earlier, it would be best not to test the waters so soon.” Test the waters???

-Kendra is driving her newly restored car for the first time and she and Cade decide to give their relationship a go. He orders her to pull over and get out. Kisses her for the first time. Then demands to drive the car back because he’s “kissed her senseless.” She agrees because she “decided it would be quicker if I just let him drive.” This is YA teaching girls everywhere that conflict avoidance is better than standing up for what you want. And that boys drive better. And that girls are more emotional.

-Even small things, like Kendra asking for a blanket on movie night, wanting distance from Cade, Cade puts the blanket over both of them, and she asks him what he’s doing, can’t he get his own. He replies:
““Can’t you share?”  He asked, with a raised eyebrow.  He had a point.  I was being childish and the blanket was big enough for both of us.” This is YA teaching girls everywhere to ignore their instincts and boundaries.

There were a few small improvements over typical YA tropes:
-Tyler’s parents were present for his backyard bonfire parties. In fact, all of the characters had parents who were basically involved in their lives. These weren’t teens running around with complete autonomy, without adult supervision.
-Minimal harping on about Kendra’s looks (either plainness, or a beauty that she can’t see but everyone else does, or a beauty that has every boy in school at her feet…). She’s the new girl in school, has Cade’s interest, and Tyler’s, but nobody else is just unnaturally falling all over her.
-Kendra has doubts toward the end about the survival of her relationship during their upcoming separation.

I dunno. With the copycattery and the romanticizing of an abusive teen relationship, I can’t rate this book higher than this.

2.5 stars

The book started off well enough, but as soon as the story would get interesting, it would abruptly turn boring again. Not much happened until around 60% of the book. Around 70% I was debating on whether to give up. I struggled through it. The only well developed character was... fuck. I can't even remember her name. And I JUST finished the book. The chemistry between her and Cade was "meh." It hardly constituted his reactions to her and vows of forever. I just didn't get it. She was more realistic about their relationship. The best part of the book was that she wasn't an idiot or overdramatic about finding out about shifters. There was an endless amount of filler and not enough meat to this book. It was longer than it should of been. It had potential, but not enough for me to want to keep up with the story.

I read this book a good few years ago but just recently found out that book two is now out so I had to do a reread!!
I love shifter books and this one is a really good read. I like the sassiness of the MC and how she doesn’t simply believe everything that she is seeing and hearing, she challenges others and puts her point across but can also be insecure and a worrier from her past experiences with people. There looks like there is more drama to come their way and some surprises from the cliffhanger in this book!
Looking forward to seeing what comes next for this lot and going to start book two now! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Pleasantly surprised

As the title states i was pleasantly surprised. I wasnt expecting much going into this book but once i started i was hooked i loved the tension between the characters in the beginning. I loved the growth both together and individually. I loved how its not cliche but it has some of those similarities but not enough to place it as cliche. I like how the details in this book really make it stand out and different from the others in the same category. A very good read.

Absolutely amazing book! 100% recommend. Only down fault is that there's no second book! CLIFFHANGER WARNING with this one. I'm sad that their story won't continue. 4 years later and still no book? I should look to see if something happened the author or something because at the end of this one it said the second would come later that year (2015!!??) so....

But this first one, it sucks you into a new world, there are unpredictable things around every corner. You're hanging onto this love story and the new world you're getting sucked into- AMAZING!!

Awesome! When does the next one come out?

Of yours a Twilight can you'll love this. I totally enjoyed this book. The characters are well written and the story line is engaging. The only draw back is that it's a series and the next one isn't out yet. Hopefully that will be corrected soon. Please take the time to read this book and the others by T.J. Yelden. You won't be disappointed. I've read all that are on Amazon and plan on seeing if the author has a web site to find out more.

I loved loved LOVED this book! It was so damn cute. I loved the progression of her not knowing about the wolves to suddenly being immersed in the world. I love the interactions of all the characters and the romance plot. The only thing I would've changed is how easily she accepted them being wolves. When she found out, suspicion or not, her reaction wasn't exactly... She just accepted it too easily.

Grrrr

My least favorite words at the end of reading a good book is "coming soon" or next book is due by the end of the year.
I enjoyed this alpha shifter story, with it's little twists. I found myself enjoying some of the secondary characters a little more than the main characters. However, I the story enough to be frustrated that the next one doesn't have a more specific released date.

Very entertaining

It's actually a bit weird I'm giving this book 4 Stars, because:

1: there was a lot of grammatical errors

2: I didn't find the connection between the hero and heroine convincing - and if she Found some one Else that wouldn't break my heart

3: not a lot happened despite tis being rather long.

And yet, I'm still gonna one click the next one as soon as it releases.

This book surprised me! It was everything I was looking for in a YA shifter book. I pretty much read it without many breaks, as I was compelled to just keep reading.
The characters were great! I fell for them immediately. I am a big fan of werewolves so this was perfect for me and my tastes. I would recommend this book to others who enjoy good clean YA reading. And now to wait for the next book? ! Hopefully sooner than later!!!

I can't wait to read the next book!

Just finished this one and about to check out the next. Kendra is a foster kid who just wants to finish high school and go to college. She moves with her foster parents to a new town for her final year of high school. She meets a pack of teens who instantly "adopt" her into their group, led by the over protective Cade. Little does she know what they are and what she is.....

I really liked this book! I love shifter books to begin with! I like how the characters welcome Kendra into the fold and give her the friends she really needed. The story was well written and I enjoyed how the book unraveled and wrapped up at the end. I'm already looking forward to reading the next book! Five glittery stars!

I loved it

It was different to start out with. Not the typical finding out that suddenly “I’m a wolf” type of book. But still it has that newness of discovery of the hidden world of wolves. And I love how the author handled the introduction of shifters with the little one it was so cute and such a sweet way to handle that topic.

Take the Twilight book and replace vampire with wolf.

PROS
- easy read.
- if you like high school supernatural stories than you may like this.
- even though I have quite a few Cons, the story isn't that bad. If you liked Twilight then you may like this.

CONS
- no originality. Almost carbon copy of Twilight.
- slow. Nothing happens until 80% through the book. About half way through she finds out they are shifters but it isn't a surprise to her so it was very anticlimactic. It is toward the end when finally conflict appears.
- characters are very normal. There is nothing exciting or unique about them.
- since there is nothing unique about the story I don't have much interest in continuing on with the series.

What a welcome change from the typical shifter novel. Yes the girl is spotted instantly by the alpha's son as soon as she arrives in town. Yes he wants her for his own. No, it does not appear she is his mate and he must quickly breed with her! (thank goodness!)
She has no knowledge of shifters, wolves or any other kind. She is in foster care with no knowledge of her parents and has been in and out of trouble and various homes all her life. She has had to adapt to survive. New town, new school and people who actually want to be her friends. That has never happened before. She just has to get through her senior year. Then she can go to college and major in art.
If only "he" will leave her alone.
