Tomoko Hayakawa (はやかわ ともこ, Hayakawa Tomoyo) is a Japanese artist and writer, best known for her ongoing manga The Wallflower, which has spawned both an anime and a live action series.
I tried... I did really try to stay away from The Wallflower for at least one week. Reason: I am already in volume 25 and there are ONLY 30. I am almost there, and what will I read after this amazing manga?
Vol 25 is one of my favorites. A lot of Sunako's craziness, Noi-chi's madness and Sunako-Kyouhei's moments. It starts with Sunako being mad at Kyohei because he kissed her last time, and she is sure it was harassment. So she curses him, and although he did not believe in curses (but all the other boys did) he starts to get unlucky. And he has a bunch of girls' spirits after him. While he is lying on the floor, unconscious, after having tripped a stair, Sunako does what she has to do: she kisses him so girls will go away (which works exactly like that). Of course, after that moment, she goes crazy again, not believing she did that! Best thing in this volume: no more nosebleeds! Yayyy!
Yuki and Ranmaru have also their girlfriends in the Christmas' chapter (both girls, MEH) but Noichi was great and crazy again. I love how she loves Sunako, and truly sees her beauty, inner and outside beauty. And if the guys are not totally convinced, she does not hesitate to show her fangs, even if it is Takenaga.
Notes aside: I was laughing like hell when Sunako appeared with her 'bed hair' (totally hilarious) and when she was crying and her fake eyelashes were falling apart.
More than 100 chapters read! And I have enjoyed each one (well, mostly) of them.
Why do I love this series? It is full of sexist cliches and impossible situations? But Sunako and her insanity keep pulling me back in. This volume sees our favourite creepy girl curse Kyohei as revenge for kissing her in the previous volume. The curse works, and Sunako has to break it with a kiss. Then some mushroom picking goes horribly wrong. The final story involves the exchanging of Christmas gifts, which is apparently the girls making something for the boys.
And yes, lots of bad soap opera situations, but still the Wallflower series that I am completely addicted to.
I really like when they are all together in the cover it's so cute!!! However I was not that much enthusiast about this volume... When Kyohei got hexed it was not that funny and merely entertaining and I felt sad when Sunako tried modeling. But I really enjoy the Christmas episode it was cute to see Noi and the Princess getting together with Sunako.
I really enjoy this series. Really really. I just wish Sunako-chan would develope more. It's like she reached a certain point where she starts to act sort of normally around the guys and Noi-chan, but she still scares everyone else outside of that group.

Overall series review (mostly) 4 Stars - so far, I’ve still got a few to go… Additional: Like most long running series there are some duff chapters/volumes
Totally reading this series out of order. Last one I was able to get from the library was Vol. 20. Oh well. I'm happy enough I don't have to buy each volume. $10/graphic novel adds up way too fast.
