I was a sceptic but read and watched the DVD and listened to the cd. I've read Paul's I Can Make You Thin (without success) but this book was a quick read and I agree with his views. Being an over weight lifetime member of a diet club for over 20 years, I'd had enought of dieting and being always focused on points and obsessing about food. I quit the Diet Club last year and have felt adrift and continued gaining...till now. Happy and pleased to say in two weeks I'm down 9 lbs without dieting. I don't have the desire to consume large quantities of my favourite food. I can stop when I'm satisfied. I love NOT dieting. I've been sharing my results and recommending the book to my family and friends. Cannot express how thrilled I'm to eat whatever I want and not worry about it all the time. I keep thinking it's going to stop working but so far so good.
Hypnotist Paul Mckenna places subliminal suggestions in your subconscious to convince your unconscious mind that a gastric band has been fitted. Theoretically your body then behaves exactly as if a gastric band were physically present. The book comes with an hypnosis CD which you listen to (after reading the book), and by following the instructions you should start to lose weight. But will it really work? Well, I took it home and followed the instructions so hmm let’s see what happens. I will say that since listening to the Hypnotic suggestions on the CD, I have found that I feel a little uncomfortable after eating – maybe there is something in this. I’m keeping an open mind. Anyway it beats dieting and exercise hands down. And I felt so relaxed after listening to the CD – that’s gotta count for something.
I didn't think this would work, but within the first few weeks I lost half a stone and have changed my relationship with food. You have to work at it, but I think it's much better than the typical kind of dieting we do in the West.
I'm working on weight loss. This book is making it easier.
The author gives sensible and effective "golden rules" about everyday eating. There are some exercises to address the emotional aspects tied to overeating that many weight loss gurus ignore completely. These steps remind me of EMDR. (Of course, this does not replace a professional provider, so, if you need more, please get help.)
There is also downloadable audio/video content that includes a guided hypnotic suggestion to help you eat less. I like his voice and English accent. I listen to it almost daily before bed. It does include some English word uses that Americans might find strange such as "theater" for surgery and "trolley" for the wheeled hospital bed.
The author recommends a completely read before downloading content and I agree. The book is a short read, so, no biggie. On the first read, I worked on the "Golden Rules" which are akin to mindful eating practices. On the second read, I worked through the mental exercises to help with emotions. It was only after this that I worked on the hypnotic trance portion.
These steps have helped me greatly over the last few weeks. Sometimes I even break the "rules" but it it's still working. I am naturally eating less and am not feeling deprived. My spouse has also been positively influenced by my new eating habits and is now reading the book to get the full benefit.
This book helped me lose about 40 of the 70 lbs I lost. I highly recommend it. One thing to note is that doing the hypnosis at the end after reading the entire book is imperative. I did the hypnosis multiple times. It also gives you guidelines on how to eat as opposed to what to eat. I found this to be very helpful once implemented.
Was interesting as a brain-stretching exercise, was quite surprised that the book did not mention any physical exercises apart from walking for 20 minutes every day.
Book really interesting however there is no audio or video to get on with what he is suggesting to help lose weight and fit the gastric band. the book says it's included but there are no links so very disappointed.
I was a bit sceptical but we'll see if it's worked or not. its a good listen but I do have trouble concentrating so found myself thinking of other things. I shall give it a go though at a later date.
This book, like others written by Paul McKenna, offers considerable promise. Unfortunately, as with most hypnotic suggestions via cd/books etc it does require considerable input from the reader/listener. Whilst everything was plausible I just couldn't be bothered... Sorry, I'm a traitor to my own cause, having trained in hypnotherapy myself I personally believe that the 'voice' has to work for the individual and I do not find Paul's voice sufficiently hypnotic to work for me.
very disappointing, not much different from Paul McKenna's i can make you thin. I saw McKenna promoting this book on TV when it first came out and i felt that he was embarrassed by the fact he had to release it! i felt that the publishers had forced him it to it. no new information really from I can make you thin, but served as a timly reminder of the the first book. I do believe in the concept thought and i think it does work, it's all about putting your mind to something really isn't it!
15.2.13 Reading this book is only the first step to making the system work. I have do learn some relaxation techniques and change my eating habits somewhat to prepare for the hypnotic "surgery." I will update my review as I reach stages in the project! If it works I will increase the star rating, if it does not I will decrease it. I have given if a three so far because it was easy to understand. If I do it properly, I will be back in a fortnight or so.
Well, I liked the book and so far, the Four Golden Rules are working well for me, but I haven't finished the two weeks' prep yet, so we shall have to wait and see if my review jumps to 'it was amazing'.
I haven't listened to the CD yet so I don't know whether it will work but the book was very informative and I feel fairly optimistic about losing weight using this system. We shall see.
Amazing - but only just finished the book & fitted the gastric band so we'll see what the results are! Very scientific approach fully referenced which instilled confidence in me.
