When I want a comic to make me laugh I know I can always turn to a Phil Fogilo comic and just sit back and enjoy the ride. The art and humor are always in perfect sync and never fail to make me chuckle. If you need some just pure relaxing laughs to help the bad day pass grad one of Phil's comics. My highest recommendation
The third installment of Phil Foglio's classic gaming comic, "What's New," continues what was begun in the back of TSR's Dragon magazine in the 80's. This third collection covers the 90's, when the Phil and Dixie characters graced the back of The Duelist - a magazine for Wizards of the Coast's Magic: The Gathering collectible card game. While Phil Foglio and his wife, Kaja, were part of the early team at WotC, contributing to both testing of and illustrating for the game, the sense, as things move along through the comic, is one of growing disenchantment with the job. The comics are as silly and fun as ever, it just seems more afloat, as it were, from its subject and certainly less enchanted with the subject at hand. While not the best What's New collection because of this, it is still filed to brimming with classic, hilarious Foglio visual puns and buffoonery and, perhaps best of all, Kaja's illuminating footnotes.
