Hailed as the messiah of the vampyre, Aleric is captured by the sorceress Enora, imprisoned, and forced to battle in the arena for her amusement, and to stop her reign of terror, Aleric must somehow escape, locate the alchemist behind her power, and unleash his old nemesis, Pythia, the Lady of Serpents, who may hold the key to the survival of the vampyres and humankind alike.
To hell with whiny vampires ! Rock on Aleric ! Who said epic stories needed to be thousand pagers ? The mythology of the Vampyricon is deep and the characters are strong. It's been a while since I read something so compelling, original and complex (especially a vampire story with these properties). Originaly published on Amazon.ca
Wow is right. This is quite the epic story. Exciting and so different than any other vampire story I have ever read. I have one small complaint and.It just may be.my taste but I'm a.lot of places they will repeat the same thing multiple times. I'm talking about the subjects in the story and it just gets repetitive. Almost like the author thinks he.has to make.sure.They explain things.to use two.or three times so we.I understand what's going on and what it means. Nope got.It the first time! But besides that I really did like the story....although it would be a.shorter one of certain things weren't repeated over and over again throughout the book. I do think that its a good epic was and exciting book though. I really feel for Aleric the falcon and have to keep telling myself he.is.Really going and naive not stupid lol. But yes worth reading this series.for sure!
I always enjoy the works of Douglas Clegg. His writing is literate and readable.
As you all know, I am not about the spoilers. If you read The Priest of Blood, you need to read The Lady of Serpents. I am looking forward to his The Queen of Wolves when I get back from this two-week trip. When I get home, I should have an Amazon gift card waiting for me.
Once I have read the next in the Vampyricon series, I will probably write a more comprehensive review.
I honestly can't remember much from this book and I read it only a few months ago. The setting was so much more frightening than the previous books, it definitely had a distinct feel to it, but that's all I can really remember.
