Lawrie can't wait to return to Tanglewood for Christmas - he hasn't forgotten Somerset or the friends he made there, especially Coco Tanberry. But when his beloved dog Sheba goes missing he and Coco are once again mixed up in a daring animal rescue...
Will Lawrie's visit turn out to be a hopeless search or will he and his family finally find what they are looking for?
I was born in 1962 in Coventry (scarily ancient, I know). I wrote my first picture book for my little brother when I was eight or nine. I loved making comics, too - pages and pages of picture stories, features and competitions.
I went to Art College in Liverpool, then got a job as fiction editor on the fab and legendary Jackie magazine.
I have worked as agony aunt on Shout magazine and also as an art teacher in the local primary & secondary schools, as well as as a freelance illustrator. These days, I am a full-time author.
I love my family, I love living in the middle of nowhere and I love my work. Of all my jobs, writing has to be the best - it's the perfect excuse to daydream, after all!
We are witnessing the return of Lawrie to Tanglewood for the New Year. The end is great, everything is super cute, I love it! He and Coco are adorable and the atmosphere is super cozy.
The result of the test at the end of the book: this time it’s largely Cherry and not a tie between her and Skye! I’m starting to be borderline disappointed that I don’t have more novels focused on her alone. Except the first of course. The other sisters have almost two novels each!
Do you like the stories that happen during the New Year? Which ones are your favorite?
I've read the entire Chocolate Box Girls series a while back but for some reason, I had skipped Snowflakes and Wishes. I'm really glad I've decided to read it today and took Cathy Cassidy's advice of snuggling under a blanket with a mug of tea (not a fan of hot cocoa) because it was the perfect read for a super cold Sunday afternoon.
It's adorable, full of New Year miracles and it was really nice to be back at Tanglewood for a little while.
Lawrie is one of my favourite characters because of the complexity of his personality. He has a rough exterior and is such a savage that it's funny and endearing but his got a heart of gold that cares massively about others with a splendid tenderness towards animals. A golden boy!
Snowflakes and Wishes reiterates those qualities of Lawrie whilst adding the element of confused emotions he feels for Coco. The way he admires Coco is so tender but his inner turmoil highlights his young age and the confusion of strange but developing feelings. The story was cute and sweet like always. Really liked it!
Out of all of the Tanberry boyfriends, Lawrie is my favourite, he is so sweet and Jasmine is really cute and I like their relationships with Coco. On New Year's Eve, the pair find themselves on another animal rescue to save a lovely fox, but can wishes really come true? A lovely little story.
