Strong women always appeal to me. Moira is the perfect example of a strong woman, set out to keep her family safe and remain true to herself. In Ireland, she is royalty,and with this charge comes arranged marriages. She does not want to marry the man that is said to be her dead father's arrangement, and as a result, her brother will have to dual for her. She escapes to America to save her brother from impending doom and becomes a land owner. Little does she know, her conniving uncle, who wants all the inheritance has set a plan in motion to prevent her from her success. In strides Pryor, the man whom unbeknownst to the evilness, contracts to marry Moira. They meet and once things are realized, he teaches her all there is to know about life in Montana. Their feelings for each other grow and the whole plan results in a total backfire. Not only is there turmoil in Ireland, but In America as well! Lots of fun and emotion in this packed novel.
Charles D Baker has a wonderful banter with this book. The perfect western accent for Pryor and an amazing Irish accent for Moira, you have no problem picturing the two and their friends through the journey.

An Unexpected Pleasant Surprise..
Moira, the female lead, left her Home for America to protect her brother and to avoid an arranged marriage.
Next, She decides to become a landowner in Montana.
When she arrives in Montana she meets Pryor. the male lead, and he offers her a marriage contract.
Things aren't what they "seem".
There is an underhanded scheme going on while the romance develops slowly.
Overall, this book was a quick, clean western romance.
Charles D Baker did well with the Narration.

Cute, although the plot was a bit unbelievable and predictable. Also, it needed editing. Many errors in sentence structure and grammar.

It was sweet but I think you can still write a "clean romance" with some actual romance. There were no sparks, just a feeling of "he's a good man and we could make a good life together". Blah.

Homesteading Can Be Lonely
Moira and her servant, Gretchen, wanted to sail to the United States from England quickly. Moira's brother Rona was desperate for money. Their father had recently and other men in the Brannon family wanted his position as Lord Brannon and the power and wealth that came the position. They were willing to kill for it.
Moira and her personal maid left for the United States to get away from the pressures that were falling on her, most notably marriage to an elderly man so when he died the Brannon family could add all his money and property to their wealth. Moira used money she had inherited to obtain a shared cabin and train fare to travel to Montana to purchase a homestead.
They arrived in Montana, met a homestead who lived near Moore's homestead and he taught Moira and Gretchen all that they needed to know to start and they taught him to cook. He had been living on corn cakes and dried beans -literally dried-he did not know they needed to be soaked overnight before cooking.

This book is the first in the Montana Passion series and is a clean western historical romance.
Lady Moira Brennan flees her home in Ireland when she finds out that she is to be forced into marriage with a horrid older man. She sets out with her maid Gretchen overseas to start a new life.
After much travelling she arrives at her new home in America to find she has been tricked and a man there, Pryor, thinks she is to be his wife.
This story started off differently to most western romances I've read so far due to the Regency element. I found that to be interesting, but sadly once Moira reached her destination and met Pryor events in this book took a slower turn.
Bonus is that it is a clean romance but I felt maybe there should have been a little more in the way of romance between Moira and Pryor. Their relationship felt more like a friendship so it was a little underdeveloped in places really. I did like Gretchen though and would have liked parts of the story from her viewpoint instead.

Really Good!
Yay! I have found another author whose writing talks to me.
This is a clean historical western cowboy romance with all the correct components. It is also short and sweet and really easy to read.
It has Lady Moira fleeing Ireland to avoid an unwanted marriage and straight into the arms of a man by the name of Pryor. There are so many changes in her life but she is strong enough to handle them all and to make a success of her life.
Little does she realise that both she and Pryor would fall in love and... Well you had better read this story for yourself!
I cannot recommend it enough.

I’m being generous with the three stars, I think. There was definitely room for improvement within this book. The biggest “irk” I have with it is the lack of development of the relationship between our two main characters. The abrupt change of feelings in Moira was startling and unnatural. There was no inner dialogue about how her feelings were changing or how she was attracted to Pryor. We get more information from the servant about Moira’s and Pryor’s relationship than we do from either of those two. Huge missed opportunity.
The book cover is awful, too, but the book was squeaky clean and mildly entertaining. I finished it in a day.

This story seemed wildly unlikely. If the main character's uncle knew that she was escaping a forced marriage, why didn't he stop her? I found it really hard to believe that the female main character had access to what seemed to be unlimited funds. I also found it hard to swallow that the main characters had fallen in love in what seemed to have been a matter of days.
I don't remember the characters' being physically described which is not a criticism of the author, solely a point that I curious.
Lastly, I had hoped that Gretchen would have found a match too and was discouraged to see that she didn't end up with Nathaniel.
All in all, the book wasn't for me.

This was a very good read.
I have so enjoyed reading this book. I love reading well written books that I can't put down. It sure does show how hard life was in Montana when people went West to homestead.

I took a trip back in time with Moira. This book was filled with adventure that was scary, challenging and definitely rewarding. The twists and turns kept it moving, making this an easy read. Book gifted to me.

A Bride in the Bargain is a clean romance; enjoyable enough story though somewhat predictable. The audible narration annoyed me a bit. A man was narrating, and I felt sometimes he overdramatized a character's mood, and when he read a woman's part, he sounded like Mrs. Doubtfire.

A Bargain for a Bride is a cute, sweet mail order bride romance about an heiress and a homesteader.
The narrator gives a lively reading of the book, but his voice sounds a bit like a grizzled old cowboy. While it is certainly suitable for westerns, it makes the hero seem old.

Audiobook. First off let me say this narrator wasn’t my favorite, but he wasn’t bad either. I giving this book a 3.75. If the book would have been any longer I would probably have ranked it lower.

Wholly unbelievable. No woman would have ready access to enough funds, in another country no less, to enable her to buy land in the time this was set.

Lady Brennan is forced to be married to an older gentleman she can not stand and wants no part of. She takes her ladies maid and they board a ship for America. Once they arrive she sees a man and buys some land for her homestead. They go on to Montana and when they arrive there is a man waiting on them. He claims Lady Brennan is his bride. Pryor takes them back to his place and they search the paperwork. They realize the papers are forged so he allows the two ladies to stay at his place until they and go see Moria's land.
Lady Brennan is falling for Pryor and and comes to care for him. He gets hurt and she helps take care of him.
Will he take care of them?
The author did a great job with this series. I will be looking for book number two.

This is the first book I've read by Ms. Rose. It took me a while to get into it, and then I fell in love with this sweet and clean historical western romance. It is a bit different than most mail order bride stories because Moria is a noble from Ireland. She runs away to America with her maid in order to avoid marrying a terrible man, and never planned on being a mail order bride. It was just that Mr. MacAteer was expecting one!
I wish I would have felt closer to the characters. The prose is a bit telling. My only other complaint is the ending seemed forced.
I hope Ms. Rose plans to write another western romance with her maid Gretchen. I loved her and she needs a husband, too.

When Lady Moira Brennan is being forced to marry, she choses to escape by running away to America. Hopefully it will keep her from having to marry and also save her brother from having to fight a duel against a trained military man. Each step of the journey finds her facing new challenges. When she arrives in Montana to find that she expected to marry a farmer there, she's determined to have her way. Pryor MacAteer helps her to find her homestead and lets Moira and her maid stay with him while she figures out what to do next.
This was a nice, short story. Interesting and kept my attention along with making me want to read the next story.

Moyra has escaped Ireland and marriage to a decrepit old man. Upon arriving In America she buys a claim in some land in Montana. She is a strong woman that is ready to start anew in the west with her maid Gretchen.
When she arrives in Montana she is met at the train station by Pryor. He is there to welcome his mail order bride.
She is not willing to fall into a marriage after barely escaping one back home. But she is not sure what she and Gretchen see going to do in this barren land called Montana.
I liked all the characters and I really enjoyed seeing the west with new eyes. A good and enjoyable read.

For some reason, I was uncharacteristically craving a western historical romance, but my library doesn't seem to have any in ebook form. When this was offered free through BookBub, I snatched it up, even though after reading the reviews, I was dubious. Turns out, I should have followed my instincts and not wasted my time. The writing isn't terrible, and I don't mind reading a "clean" romance once in a while, but, even taking that into account, this is one hell of a boring book. Thank God it's a short read (and, did I mention?, free).
