Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen's witty and romantic commentary on upper-class social manners, now condensed for your easy enjoyment!
Lushly illustrated by Becca Stadtlander and part of the Classics Unfolded series, this title is protected by a gorgeous slipcase. It is a fully illustrated fold-out concertina, telling one of the world's greatest stories in 14 scenes and doubling as a beautiful piece of freestanding art to shelve or frame. With quotes from the original text, close-ups of the main characters and summeries of the key themes, Pride and Prejudice Unfolded makes this famous tale accessible to a new generation of readers.
Becca Stadtlander was raised in Kentucky and received her MFA in illustration from the Maryland Institute of Art. This is her first picture book. She lives in Middletown, Rhode Island.
This is the shortest version of Pride and Prejudice you'll ever encounter and, in my opinion, is better for it (I am not much of an admirer of Austen's adult writings, P&P in particular). It's such a beautifully illustrated novelty book: the 19th Century Romance is retold-extremely abridged-in short sentences that tell only the minimum of plot, but give the maximum effect. The illustrations are just lovely and I have honestly never enjoyed Pride and Prejudice so much before, not even with any kind of drenched man in sight. Obviously you won't find anything in-depth here: there are some of the most famous quotes from the book itself dotted around, but it's more a celebration of the book than anything else. It is just an utter delight. 'Nuff said.
This fold out book touches the essential plot points of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice with exquisite illustrations. It does not, of course, compare with reading Austen's novel in its full version, but is a wonderful introduction to the story for a young reader, or as a keepsake for an Austen enthusiast.
I read this lovely little P&P adaptation to my daughter to celebrate the 204th anniversary of the publication of Pride and Prejudice. That, plus coffee in one of my P&P mugs, made for a fun time!
I got this for a gift awhile ago. It was packed away before I could read it, and I discovered it after unpacking some things. I like how the classic story was condensed into a few pages. The illustrations reminded me of the portraits from the era. I did not give it 5 stars as nothing can match the original novel.
I love the vintage-style illustrations... although someone said it looks like coming out of the tin of Khong Guan biscuits :)) This edition is perfect to introduce this famous classic romance to early readers.
Cute little Classics Unfolded version. It includes scene by scene plot summaries with quotes from the book along with a 30-second summary, a character list, and the story summed up in 5 words.
This is a fabulous fold out book with beautiful illustrations. It includes portraits of the main characters, each page has a book quote and a one sentence summary of events. The full page illustrations are gorgeous. The last page has a "in 30 second" description of the book plus key words. A treasure for the P&P collector.
I received a copy through the Goodreads First Reads program. An easy-to-follow and beautifully illustrated story. Each picture has an explanation of the story's events and includes a story summary at the end. Very well done.
