Pyte/Sentinel #3

Tall, Dark & Heartless

Rate this book
He should have left her and never looked back…....

That's not how things played out for Caine, a nearly one thousand year old Pyte, who should have known better. Instead of walking away years ago, he has been watching over the only human who has touched his heart. He stays to protect her, at least that is what he tells himself. When trouble finds her, he knows that he should just cut his losses and walk away, but there is no fighting the hold the child, who has become a woman, has on him. Now they are both paying the price.

Danni knows that she isn’t technically a Sentinel and is putting her life in danger every time she goes out on patrol. She isn't worried, she has a job to do. It is the only thing that matters to her anymore and she isn’t going to let it go without a fight. Unfortunately for her, she didn’t foresee her ex-boyfriend selling her out to a Master, being captured, getting locked up and stuck in a room with the cranky Pyte. The same Pyte that broke her heart years ago and wont stop glaring at her as if their little predicament is all her fault.

Loving this series!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💋💋💋💋💋
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📙📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 👨🏻👱🏻‍♀️🧔🏻👩🏻👱🏼‍♂️

The heroine: Danni - She is the human daughter of two sentinels and she works for the sentinels protecting humans from supernatural creatures who don’t follow the rules. When she was a girl, her parents often left her alone at the compound while they were out patrolling and on jobs.

The Hero(es): Caine - He is a Pyte and over a thousand years old. After being tortured by an entire town of humans when he was first turned. He had run wild all over the world and ended up being held by the Sentinels. While trying to escape he came across a lonely little girl and ended up befriending her.

The Story: Caine was always there for Danni as a child until she hit womanhood. At that point he stopped talking to her and left her to her own devices. They both worked for the sentinels but never spoke to each other.

A master vampire kidnaps both Caine and Danni with the help of Danni’s ex boyfriend Greg who wants to be turned into a vampire. They want Caine to either turn Danni into a Pyte that can be used to create an army of super strong vampire’s or impregnate her to give them a Pyte offspring that they can mold to their uses.

The story in this book was pretty good and funny in parts, even a bit silly in certain parts. We also got more of the story of the Williams clan, Ephraim, Madison, Chris, Isabelle, Joshua and more. Like the previous few books, this one has great supporting characters. I loved it when Danni’s ex Greg got what was coming to him more than once.

Again this book had an awesome story and terrific supporting characters and I can’t wait to read more of this series. Unfortunately I don’t have any more of the audiobooks and can’t afford more for a while so it will be a bit before I can continue but I definitely will as soon as I can.

Also, I liked the narrator much better in this one, though the young kids voice she used for Chris was still disturbing to me. Though since he wasn’t the main Hero in this book, I could overlook it easily enough. I also realize how hard it must be to come up with different voices for each character when there are so many supporting characters. So I give her props for that.

Loved:
1. Kale- makes me laugh & is protective. Love when he goads Chris.
2. Caine & Danni
3. Jax and his pack
4. The "Junk Food Wars" between Kale & Izzy
5. Marc & his shinning moment
6. Ephraim- always a sweetheart <3
7. Lucan- *fingers crossed* he turns out to be a good vampire as he's in a gray area for me... I have high hopes
8. Danni & the tree bet
9. The humor in this book

Favorite line by Caine:
"This is a really weird family."

Hated/Disliked:
1. Greg- gets what he deserves in more than one way
2. Joshua's new personality
3. Logan - wanted to love him but now... Not so sure

Danni is a human child born to two Sentinel parents who neglect her as a child. Caine is a Pyte who was obtained by the Sentinel Council for some things he did. Eventually Danni and Caine become good friends while she's growing up and he takes care of her until she hits the age of 17 then he just drops out of her life, well... that's what she thinks at least. It's 11 years later and Danni's jerkface ex-boyfriend Greg sells his soul to a master vampire so he can take out his rage on Danni and Caine in his evil little plan. This puts this pair back together in a not so nice situation and eventually it boils down to a life and death situation for the couple. Caine will do anything to keep Danni safe no matter the price.

It was nice to see all the old cast back from books 1 and 2 and some new faces as well. Danni and Caine do all they can to survive while others do all they can to find them.

book made me:
1. mad
2. laugh
3. sad

It was a good read. I feel the books get better as the series goes on. (I really love Kale and Caine.)

Note: This book involves-language & adult situations.

So let me start with my complaint. UGH I have to wait for another book are you serious I feel hurt that after finishing this book I don't have book four to start oh I am so hurt. Ok moving past my sad drama, this book was insane I don't know how R.L.Mathewson packed everything in this book and the book didn't end up being a jumbled mess. This book is filled with so much I got scared at first thinking we would miss Caine and Danni's story. Boy was I wrong I don't know how she did it but she not only did it but she did it well. Yes we get Danni and Caine(and I like me some Caine) but we also get Ephraim and Madison, Izzy and Chris, and everyone else. I am anticipating so many stories to come from this series I can't wait. Caine is a Pyte who took care of little Danni when it became very obvious that her parents were to busy being Sentinels to care for their daughter and he loved her. In his long lonely life he loved her like no one else and then Danni grew up and he could not longer be by her and keep her safe so he lift her. Danni was all alone till Caine came and then he broke her heart and left and Danni was all alone again. Till one day Danni is captured and used to capture Caine and Caine is told to change her or watch her suffer. Caine will not change anyone and he and Danni both know that, and Caine knows that they won't really hurt Danni but then they do and Caine takes action before he can think. Danni is still the little girl who used to boss him around and he finds that he can't live in a world were Danni doesn't exist. But Caine also knows that they can't be together. Danni has never gotten over the heart break of loosing her best friend the only person who ever loved her, and now she has to deal with new and growing feeling for Caine that she is sure he doesn't share but Caine is finding quickly that he does. I don't even know what else to say about this book it's filled with so much I am speahless. I want another book like yesterday. I want everyone to be able to experience this amazing series and I want book four yesterday.

Once i have time to process my thoughts, i will write a proper review, because seriously all that is going through my mind right now is Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik... yes, it is the name of an album by Red Hot Chilli Peppers, but seriously that was this story...

plenty of blood; the Pytes are vampires after all, and lots of killing (nothing gratuitious though)

sugar; well i attibute that part to Izzy and her cravings (yes we get to see lots of Izzy and Chris from Without Regret the previous book in this series)

sex; well now.. this part was FREAKIN' AWESOME and attribute it ALL to Caine, that sexy ALPHA, tattoed and pierced hero of this story... and can i come back to the pierced part please... ermm... i believe it was a "Prince Edward"... holy mother of all things HOT...gimme, gimme...

and finally magik; well lots of living, dying, healing, etc. going on, so that's the magik bit (yeah i know, a bit lame, but i really couldn't come up with anything else!!)

Till i can come up with better words for this review, for now, just know that this is a 5 star read; if you ask me, it surpasses the first 2 books in this series and for me that's saying a lot because i absolutely LOVED Chris and Izzy from Without Regret, BUT Caine *swoon* and Danni and all their HOT, SWEATY, SMEXIN just puts this book in another stratosphere!! Job well done, Ms. Mathewson!!!

Now, i can go back and think about Caine... and that piercing...

I SOOOO WANTED TO LOVE THIS....

So, ok... when I finished Without Regret, (Chris & Izzy's story Pyte/Sentinal book #2) at the end of it there was a blurp that said "read on for a sneak peek at the next Pyte series book" Sooooooo, I did and that little blurp was about some one named Cloe and a dude named Christophor or whatever... at some drug store... well, that's not what Tall, Dark, & Heartless is about at all... Hmmmmmm, not sure what that one was about... or if it will become a story... but just those first few pages made me interested... then I get to this story and I'm not getting as exicited... DAMN IT!!!

I LOVE (with my whole heart) R.L. Matthewson... that's why this review is gonna kill me... I've never given her anything other than a 5 star review, EVER!!!! I always feel honesty is the best policy.. sooooo... here it goes...

I loved the characters, but not the storyline... I felt it was dragging on and on at times and found myself skipping huge parts that I felt could have been edited out... The flashbacks and the storyline from past characters was getting on my last nerve!! I love Madison, Ephraim, Chris, Izzy, Josh, and the rest of them... but I really wanted to focus on Caine and Danni... and it just wouldn't let me... hence the skipping!!!

I really struggled to get through this one... I usually get a book done in two days or less... this one took me 5 days... I admit, I set it down a lot to do other stuff... but when a books good... my housework goes to crap... that's how you know a book is good... needless to say.. my house was spotless during the reading of this book... Sorry RL... I do love you!! The Neighbor From Hell Series is one of my all time favorites... so, I'll just wait for that next book to come out...

All in all... it was ok.. I gave it 3 stars...

This book does not pick up where the last story ends. It introduces new characters to the sentinel family. A pyte and a sentinel offspring that has no supernatural abilities( basically just a human). Immediately I wonder why we have gone off course. As the two starcrossed lovers, Caine and Dani, fight and claw their way I begin to lose interest. Not only is there the strange past between these two(he use to be her baby sitter/caregiver/father figure) weird huh? But then Caine ingest a drug that is an aphrodisiac and know he cannot keep his hands to himself. I found this part amusing especially with his stoic behavior to be a sudden turn around. Then after he finally breaks her down after he says some stupid things they agree to do the deed, she immediately thinks she's going to up and leave him. Here he thinks of her as a reluctant mate that he needs to protect and she doesn't even give him the benefit of the doubt. I stopped reading at this point. I realize what I can't stand about the way it is written, the author waits for an important part of the story to regress and waste two pages on this characters past. Her characters are constantly daydreaming when something important happens. I've found myself saying I don't care about this why bring up her unhappy childhood and two pages worth to explain why she is crying now. Don't get it, it's like filler, to get more words down that are not needed. Okay all the women in this story are bitches. Or their hormonal, why is that the way they are portrayed? I seriously can't stand Madison, her character had been in hormonal limbo for a book and a half, Izzy is too flirtatious with these other males and Chris keeps threatening to kicks someone's ass but never does, Danni, Is so wishy washy and just stupid, Jill whose character had supposedly developed even though she still acts like she did when she was fifteen. Screw ups all of them. I finished the story finally. Not sure if I can review it tactfully. Don't like to leave mean reviews. I see that the author has pretty much the same characters I in all her books saying the same things such as "I gonna beat your a$$," that threat was old in the first book I read it and that was a different series. The eating of chocolate and fighting over it was just as ridiculous as in her Neighbor from hell story. It was funny the first time but it is very old now. The male characters all seem to be plan on using and misusing the women and then the women always seem to have to walk away and not look back and the men are broken and will do anything for their baby. Yeah I think I need to take a break from this author.

Well, I’m sad to say that the quality of the books in this series went lower... :(

Here we have the story of Danni and Caine. You all have read the blurb, so you know how the story goes, but let me tell you that the characters are abysmal!!!

I couldn’t stand them and not only the main characters, but all the others too… It’s really sad to say that it took me almost 3 days to read this book because I couldn’t suffer to read all the juvenile and stupid things they did!

All, and I mean all of them are like 4 years old arguing about who can do better something! It doesn’t matter that something is a life altering decision or stolen piece of cake!

A lot of pages has been spent about Caine and Danni’s past when she was a little girl and it was like that over and over and over and over… after the tenth time a moment like that happened I just skipped until it ended… and, let me say it, I was bored to tears! I couldn’t stand anymore how Danni’s big violet eyes were sad, laughing, disappointed, how she was a sweet kid, how she was brave, how she was wonderful… gag!

And that was Caine… don’t let me start with Danni!!!

She was supposed to be a tough human girl who wanted to best her Sentinel companions, but refused to admit that she was human!!! She put herself in such awful situations because of that denial! She just couldn’t accept it, so it was OK to be suicidal! Right, no? Nooooooo!!!!!
She was just plain stupid every single time she did something or said something. I couldn’t stand her!

The other characters… let me say that my opinion about Izzy changed drastically. Here she’s a completely useless female good for nothing else, but being and made pregnant. Ah, let’s not forget her idiotic bickering with Kale about some idiotic rules about stealing junky food from each other… even if the situation is serious and dangerous, what they do? They argue who took whose piece of cake!!!! Was it supposed to be a way to ease a stressful situation? If it was it failed miserably…

Shall we talk about Chris? You’ll think that he matured since now he’s a father… well… NO, he didn’t! He’s worse than ever! He treats (and here I must say I don’t agree with him… sad but true…) Izzy like an mentally deficient woman and keeps calling her his Munchkin (or something stupid like that…)… Ah, don’t let me forget mentioning about his stupid, caveman this woman is MINE acts of jealousy… *roll eyes*

The books so full of Danni’s TSTL actions, Caine’s reminiscences, Izzi’s and Kale faked arguments, Chris’s growling jealousy… that I seriously considered DNF-ing the book several times. Now that I finished it I’m sorry I didn’t saved my time and stopped reading it…

Enjoyed it so much,it had so many twist n turns which had me gripped till the end,Caine-Danni loved them both, their friendship was so beautiful but then Caine pushed her away,Caine-Danni were two lonely people who filled the emptiness in each other's life,Caine was in denial about his feelings for Danni and hurt her but then he came to his senses and their love blossomed beautifully and they get their much deserved happiness and a family to belong to.

Enjoyed & Loved the banters between Chris-Izzy-Kale & Chris-Kale fighting over Jessica must say Jessica is one lucky kid to have so many people to love and spoil her,Jill felt so sorry for her*sob sob* Logan you jerk better you come to your senses or else......Missed Eric and Joshua so much, was so looking forward to see what happens to Joshua and have few answers but more questions have now arised as the story progressed.

The epilogue was beautiful but by the time it came to end what i feared came true...... CLIFF-HANGER???*sad sigh*really hope the next book releases soon cause i will go psychotic in this waiting time*pulls hair*

Overall enjoyed it
Recommend it.

I was really disappointed in this book. I liked the first two, but this one I found myself pushing to finish. I felt like I missed book 2.5, except there isn't one! Why is Kale so chummy with Izzy and crazy about her baby. What do they think is wrong with Joshua? Why was he chained up. I felt out of the loop. The grammar and spelling errors were much improved in this book. There were only a couple.

Well, I have to say though the writing continues to be weak, I enjoyed this book the most so far.

The repeated words, I wish the author would find a thesaurus. Like instead of saying flying (three times in the same paragraph, one can be soaring, another air born. It's that simple. (that is a reference from book one, but continues to be a problem in this series))

However, I was almost glad that the original group wasn't apart of the book early on. I think that helped cleanse my palette for this series.

I will say though, if not for that ending, I would have moved onto something else to read. But I'm compelled to read on because of several threads of story lines left open.

WOW! R.L. MATHEWSON DID IT FOR ME AGAIN!

The woman is an absolute genius in writing. I'm so addicted with the series already! If I didn't have any day job I would have finished the whole series in just two days.

I absolutely pitied Danni while she was being tortured. I wanted to kill Greg then and there. I absolutely love Ephraim with Madison, Chris with Izzy and even Kale, Joshua, Jill and Logan.

Can I just say the sex marathons from the characters were amazing. R.L. Mathewson really is creative with juicy details when it comes to love scenes.

Finishing this 3rd installment with a cliffhanger was such a pain but it just makes the longing somehow better. I can't wait for the next one. I want more Pyte/Sentinel Novels. I'm in love with all the characters actually. I wanna learn more on each one. I hope that the whole series will include a story on each character. I'm actually also praying that Ms. R.L. Mathewson gets on a speedy recovery so that she'll be able to write for her fans once more. Don't get me wrong, health is still priority but I'm just voicing out that I love her work.

YOU ROCK MS.MATHEWSON!

I love a good bad boy and Caine is definitely a bad boy. Strong, alpha, arrogant, brooding, all-around jerk face. Then he is transformed by love...And I'm in love. The lengths he went to in order to save Danni? Amazing! I really like how Mathewson gave us flashbacks and glimpses of memories to help us truly understand the history between these two incredible characters.

I really liked seeing old characters again. I can't get enough of them. I thoroughly enjoyed the scenes with Jax and his pack. Hilarious!!

I'm still left wondering about what's going on with Joshua. What he did to Izzy and Madison is unacceptable. And I'm still left dangling about Logan and Jill. Hopefully book 4 answers my burning questions.

Reread again

I just reread this book for the second time. The first time i have it 3 stars, but now I'm moving it to 4. I like how the series is moving and how some of the story continues through all the book I am overall arc. The reason I probably have this a 3 the first time was because it wasn't just about the two main characters, but includes the characters from the previous books. I'm ok with it now since I know parts of the story contains in through the books.

I can't wait to continue the series, but wished that Ms. Mathewson would write faster. It seems to be heard before the next book comes our which is why I needed to do reread of the books when a new one comes out. Right now book 6 finally came our and it has been four years between book 5 and 6.

R.L Mathewson is just AMAZING...this has to be the best in the series so far! I've loved them all but Tall, Dark & Heartless had *sigh* Caine!! (Am not going to spoil what made him so... uhmmmm...special...LOL..!!)

The story was great, so much passion, emotions and action that it was at times impossible to put down! The relationship between Caine and Danni was beautiful and it was fab to have all the characters back from the previous books! Hate the fact that there was a cliffhanger though...I really don't like those ;0)

Oh and I would recommend reading this series in order....

Definitely a 4.5 . This was the best of the series so far. I loved book one, (book two not so much), but this one surpassed both. The story was amazingly well done and I loved the revisit to all the characters we've grown to love as well as the introduction to new characters that have become a part of the overall story arc. The only drawbacks are the amount of grammatical and editing errors. This seems to be a constant throughout this series, in each book, and I think with a little more editing, the books would be a much smoother read. Also, I wish there wasn't so much character internalizing. Book two was filled with internalization and it completely distracted from the story but thankfully a lot of that was culled out for this book. I was really impressed with this read. It was exciting, adventurous, steamy and sexy, and fun! I can't wait for the next book in this awesome series. Bring on the ever growing Pyte family!

Wow!
Can not express how fantastic Tall, Dark & Heartless is.
R. L. Mathewson has done without a doubt an amazing job.
Even though Caine starts heartless, you can't help fall in love with him.
It was also nice to have the previous characters included.
A perfect cliff hanger ending.
You have to give this book a try if you've read the previous two books in the Pyte/Sentinel series.
Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Highly recommend.

Ok can I just say this author is amazing! I loved this book! At first, I wasn't sure about it because the 2 main characters were completely new and I didn't know how their story would fit in with the previous two, but I can happily say I was definitely not disappointed!!! Now I'm just sad its over and I have to wait for the next book!

I think this was the author's best. I loved the interaction between Caine and Danni. It was sexy and laugh out loud funny. Plus there was the added enjoyment of meeting up with old friends. What's not to love? The only thing that bothers me is that cliffhanger ending. When is the next book coming out???!!!!

Omg this Series keeps getting better and better. I can't get enough of this series. With all these Enthralling dialogues kickass scenes and plenty LOL moments. With so many Twists and turns there is not way you won't be addicted to these books and it's awesome characters.

What I also love so much is what a big part the past characters play in each book. You don't get to miss them...

I love this series!!

This book focuses on Caine who is a Pyte working for a Sentinel network. Ephraim had mentioned other Pytes working for Sentinals so it was cool to see how another sect worked. This sect employed the daughters and sons of Sentinals that are human. One of those daughters is Danni. She is a fierce fighter but she is only human. She has known Caine since she was a toddler.

He would take care of her...kissed scraped knees, tell her stories, watch disney movies with her, dress up for Halloween. There is nothing he wouldn't do for this little girl. When she turned 17...he started to desire her blood (he is a pyte afterall). He was so afraid that he would hurt her that he cut off their relationship. He didn't talk to her for like 10 years.

Now she is like 26/27...she is still working for the Sentinals, still being ignored by the only person she truly cared about, and just going through the motions of her life. Till Caine and her get captured....

A deal is made...Caine has to turn her and impregnate her with a Pyte. He refuses of course and has to watch her be tortured. It gets pretty difficult for him to resist...

All of my favorite characters are still there:

Chris and Izzy: Still in love...she is pregnant with their son and both love their daughter.

Joshua: Is chained in the basement throughout the whole book...till the end. He does something horrible and escapes.

Madison and Eph: Still in love...Madison is pregos with twin boys.

Lucan and Jill: Need to have their own book. You are totally teased with their relationship. I mean you know Jill is visiting him in the cells every night but you are never with them in the book. Chris catches them in a compromising position but you never know what lead up to get to that point.

The book leaves you with so many questions...we need a book 4!

This is the third and final (so far!!) book of the Pyte/Sentinel series and the book is split between those that we know and love, and those that we are meeting for the first time.

Caine has been around for a while and is basically a prisoner with privileges. In other words, he's not locked up in a cell (unless they say otherwise) and he is allowed to 'interact' with the others. Danni is the pure human offspring of two Sentinels who were never interested in having children, so Danni grew up in the compound with others to look after her, and through a series of events, Caine of one of them. Flash forward a few years and things have changed. Caine and Danni don't really speak anymore. Through an act of betrayal, Danni and Caine are captured by a Master and the fun starts here.

It can be quite hard when reading a book when you know the hero is actually a good guy but you cringe every time he opens his mouth or you read what he's thinking. This was me with Caine. He just seemed such a **** and completely 'heartless'. I am pleased to say that he won me over but not after I spent a lot of time cursing him and saying out loud - "I can't believe you've just done/said/thought that!"

The characters continue to build and develop, even those that we have met in previous books, which is absolutely brilliant. One character in particular takes a turn that I never saw coming and I REALLY can't wait for the next book in the series. If you like Paranormal Romance with spice, wit and LOL moments, then give this series a go.

I don't have a good readon why I even finished this book. The first half was completely drawn out with Caine likes Danni as a little girl and then let her down when she turned 17. We heard you the first time R.L. I was getting sick of all the reminders of what they had before. I like books to focus a bit more on present time. Second, there were way too many sex scenes for my taste. Not that I have anything particular against, but I wanted the story to move forward and at the weirdest times the characters would stop to have sex. The secondary characters would stop to have sex. Even the tertiary characters if such a thing exists... come on.
Since Joshua has been silent since the end of the last book, I didn't like that the author didn't add anything to the story. And the fact that he becomes completely withdrawn from his family, that's a bit too much. What else? At the end Izzy and Madison decide to move to their house without informing their mates but the author really glosses over the fact that they should have felt guilty (no. they just tell Marc it's not his fault) or their mates should have been mad at them (no. they just jump them first chance they have). I felt that was extremely weak for something as grave as that especially with the resulting escape of Joshua.
So overall, no I didn't like the book. I won't read the rest of the Pyte-Sentinel books because it looks like it will run with no end.

Holy AMAZEBALLS! I am so addicted to this series!! R.L Mathewson, you rocked! The characters from this series just keeps getting better and better and Wow I love them all! Except for Greg (f*cking asshole/bastard). Anyway, I can't seem to get enough of Pytes, Shifters, Sentinels, and Vamps! They have their own unique stories and point of views. I was hoping for a Jill-Logan love story because they seem to have a very good chemistry. I'm also kinda worried for Logan because I can't tell if he's a bad guy or good guy, or he just want take his revenge and messed up with Jill and her family, and that I need to know more about his past and what's really inside of him because I like him too besides from Kale Quinn. Kale on the other hand, is very sweet and thoughtful and seems a very good guy for Ephraim's family. I liked him a lot because he always takes care of them and shows that he actually love their family even if he has known to be a ruthless century shifter.

The story is getting more intense and holy sshhhit I want more! :) I hope Mathewson can recover soon so that she will be able to continue to this series. I love to read more of their stories. Every character are well defined and written. It doesn't matter if this is a long series and I devoured every single page of it, because everything about it is amazing! :)

I really liked this book but it took me longer than I wanted to get into it. I had spent the first 2 books getting invested in the characters and the way the 2nd book ended I needed to know what happened to Josh specifically. This book started with new characters that I just didn't love in the beginning, you don't know very much about them and I just was stuck in my head wanting to read about the family that I already cared about. I was so relieved when I read the first chapter that had Chris and Izzy in it, I loved that she was pregnant again and that Kale was still around. Once you get further in along you get more involved in Caine and Danni's story and love them together. By the time they were with the werewolves I was hooked and surprisingly found myself annoyed to be pulled out of their story for an update with family. The only downside was nothing was resolved on the Josh issue so hopefully #4 will deal with him and Jill (I still cannot believe that she is buying the crap Logan is selling her)
Overall another great book in this series and I am very happy that it is not over yet!

Absolutely a fantastic read from beginning to end. There were some minor editing glitches that were overlooked but nothing that takes away from the story. I really couldn't put this book down. I loved it. The characters in the previous books continue on into Tall, Dark and Heartless which was really nice for fluidity of the storyline and as well I feel readers like knowing the goings on of previous characters even in the new book as it meshes the stories together beautifully. To me, it isn't a stand alone read but R.L. has provided enough descriptions throughout allowing the reader to be able to follow through with each characters storyline. The entire story flowed as if you were envisioning it on a movie screen and boy there were lots of really graphically descriptive parts with violence and sex but very well written out. Tall, Dark & Heartles was gritty, edge of your seat, gruesome, romantic, sensual and oh so sexy read. You'll definitely be choosing which Alpha is most drool worthy and will sit impatiently for the next book to be released, as I am.
