Scotland, 1230 Sent on a rescue mission, Finn Mac Chaluim is prepared to do his duty, hand over the lass and return home.
But fate has other ideas.
In the midst of a Norse invasion, Catriona barely escapes with her life. Masquerading as her sister, she finds herself in the hands of Finn who intends to hand her over to her sister’s betrothed, Laird Gillean. In the interests of bringing peace to her home, Catriona is determined to continue the ruse—even if it means going along with the marriage and denying her growing attraction to a man who keeps his hurts hidden behind a quick grin.
If the green faery, Tèile, has anything to do with it, Catriona and Finn will come together—but only at the right time. Thanks to her last attempt at matchmaking, many paths were changed and now it’s up to her to put it right. Can she help Finn— who learned the hard way that sharing your life with someone only leads to heartache—get past his doubts? And will the battle-scarred Catriona even accept him into her heart?
When Laird Gillean’s attentions toward Catriona become dangerous, both Finn and Tèile will find they have an uphill battle on their hands.

I didn’t like this book as much as I did To Steal a Highlander’s Heart. This one seemed to drag out too much with Finn dragging Catriona to him then pushing her away again. I got really irritating after about the 4th or 5th time. And I didn’t understand why Finn and Catriona had to get together at just the right time, why everything had to be in balance. Balance what?
And she still had not told anyone who she really was. No one found out she was Catriona until about 85%. And it just became too stupid for her to keep thinking she HAD to marry Gillean, too. I mean, he solved that way of thinking but it still became irritating.
To Steal a Highlander’s Heart was 209 pages and this one was 283. This was waaay to long. In order to fill more pages there was just too much angst, too much push-pull. There were some really good moments but some frustration to.
Overall, it was a decent story, especially the last couple of chapters, so I’ll probably read Logan and Lorna’s story. See what’s up Teila’s sleeve next. Besides there was no solution to Gillean. Have to see what happens to him. And there’s only 216 pages and that’s just right.
This had some great tension and then some wonderfully written sex.
Characters were written with such great detail and depth that I was totally engaged with each page. Plenty of suspense, mystery, doubt, miscommunication, and a splash of magic and of course true love. I enjoyed this Highlander story.
A historical romance novel with highlanders is sure not to be missed. My attention was caught with the premise of the book and the gorgeous cover. I was hesitant at first to read it because it was the second in the series, but was glad to see that it could be a stand-alone book. This was my first Samantha Holt book and it was a delightful read.
I very much enjoyed the story between Catriona and Finn. Catriona had to take her dead sister's identity and pretend to marry her sister's betrothed. After being rescued from a siege, Catriona began to fall in love with her savior Finn. The whole time I was wondering how Catriona's true identity was going to be revealed and I simply could not wait for Catriona and Finn to kiss. When her sister's betrothed arrived, my heart thudded with the excitement on how everything would unravel. How would the engagement be broken so the two love birds would marry?
The relationship between the two main characters was sweet. Finn was the savior while Catriona was the damsel in distress. They were immediately attracted to each other and while they spent some time together, they came to fall in love. The fact that it wasn't instant love, even though it was just a few days they spent together, won many points for me. Also, the love scenes between them were very tender. These scenes weren't as graphic as many other novels, but there was enough that would make a light-hearted person swoon.
Though I did enjoy this book, the thing that did not work for me was the magical part. I knew that there were fairies in this book but it did not work for me. The fairies' task was to get the two main characters to meet and fall in love. This sounded cute, but it felt out of place. The transitions between the main storyline to that of the fairies' did not go smoothly. I kept wondering why these scenes with the fairies were there. I simply wanted to get back to the main plot.
Overall, this was an enjoyable book. This was great to read after a long hard day of work. Even though I was not completely taken with the idea of the fairies, I was completely taken by Catriona and Finn's relationship and the plot was entertaining.
This is Finn and Catriona's adventure with a little help from the Fae. Though this book can be considered a stand alone, I would suggest reading To Steal a Highlander's Heart (Highland Fae Chronicles)first as there were some elements I think would have added to this story. The cover of this was nice and I think it fit the story nicely. I loved how the story was something different.Finn and Cat's chemistry is great and I really loved their love story. It wasn't just a simple A+B=C romance. I think it overall was a nice read for me, but the ending felt rushed and I'm not sure the story line quite lived up to it's potential. Saying that, I am awaiting the next book to see if it lives up to the possibilities. I enjoyed this story overall and would recommend it to Fae and highlander fans.
To Dream of a Highlander follows the story of Catriona (posing as her dead twin Katheryn) and Finn, who has been tasked with bringing Katheryn aka Catriona to join her husband to be, Laird Gillean.
This story is set in Scotland, 1200’s with the Norse invasion featuring heavily. I am a sucker for a good highland romance and Ms. Holt always takes a small piece of history and lends it to the story to add extra intrigue and historical value.
I read to Steal a Highlander’s Heart previously, which featured some secondary characters as well as the featured green faery Teile who shows up in all 3 books of the series (which can be read as standalone), but I will say that book 2 does lead into book 3, To Avenge her Highland Warrior. I enjoyed this book as well as the first and the third.
Catriona has been tasked by her father to carry on the ruse of pretending to be her dead twin Katheryn. Katheryn was betrothed to Laird Gillean in exchange for his protecting their homestead in a deal with her father. Catriona doesn’t want anything to do with this contract but knows she must in order to safe her homestead. As the fighting grows closer to her home though she has a change of heart and tries to escape only to be caught by a savage Norseman. That Norse soldier turns out to be Finn, who was sent by her sisters intended to bring her safely to his castle until they are wed.
Finn feels an attraction to the woman he rescued almost instantly but knows he must hand her over to her betrothed. He fights the urge to make her his own as they travel across the countryside to his sister Lorna’s keep to await Lord Gillean. Finn isn’t looking for love, he has a past filled with regrets, but Teile knows he is a better man than he believes.
Catriona, Finn, Lorna and Logan will have to defend their land and lives against Laird Gillean for any of them to truly find happiness.
I don't think any trigger warning is given in this book's blurb, but it certainly needs one. In one of the very first scenes, when Vikings are overrunning her father’s keep, the heroine is nearly r@ped…and quite violently. Luckily, she is rescued from that fate by the hero. For quite a few chapters, the heroine doesn't understand that she is truly being rescued by this fair-haired Highlander (who was initially dressed as a Viking) and his friends. Instead, she thinks she's being abducted by another Viking! This is not the only case of mistaken identity in this book. In fact, it seems to be a major theme of it. The heroine herself is masquerading as her now-deceased sister. Before the raid on their keep, her father convinced her she needed to play the part of her sister to the man her sister was promised in order to keep the peace. This is a novel, not just a novella, so the author takes time to show how the hero and heroine develop feelings for each other while he's rescuing her and once he finally gets her to safety. I found the heroine a fascinating character, a beauty who is uncomfortable with her looks because of how others treat her because of it. I'm unsure about the hero because he’s a bit wishy-washy in his feelings about and actions with the heroine, and I didn't like how he treated her after they became intimate. I really dislike it in books when heroes don't act right toward their ladies after they've done the deed! The book has an interesting side story involving the hero's sister Lorna. I'm looking forward to seeing how her romance shapes up after how it was left in this story. By the way, this book has a paranormal twist, with a member of the fae attempting to orchestrate the romance, though she constantly bungles it! While this novel had some drawbacks, I did find it an enjoyable read.
TRIGGER: Violent attempted on-screen r@pe
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Overall a delightful story and a great storyline. Catriona must mask herself as her deceased twin sister in order to have peace in her clan. A Viking invasion sets her plans astray when handsome Highlander Finn rescues her. He only intends to bring her safely to her betrothed but he loses his heart to her. However past traumas keep them both from falling fully for each other. Will the help of the Fae even be enough to unite these two?
This was a great story for me until the fairy came into play, then it completely ruined it for me. While I have read other authors who interweave the magical realm with the real world, this felt disjointed. The scenes with Telie were short and didn't seem to add anything to the story, in fact, it detracted from it and really didn't need to even be mentioned. The other problem for me was angst and back and forth of will they/won't they was just too drawn out and got boring really fast. I also didn't like that Cat/Kate withheld her true identity for so long from Finn knowing that once she did so it was just going to make things messy between them. This is more of a slow-burn romance with some tender scenes that you can use more imagination to fill in the blanks. It can be read as a stand alone but you will get more background and understanding if you do read the first book. Overall though, I do recommend as a sweet romance with some adventure to it. Desperate to keep peace in the Highlands, when Catriona's beautiful but vain and malicious twin sister dies, her father demands that Catriona take her place as Laird Gillean's bride. However, when their keep comes under attack by the Norsemen, Catriona is completely taken by surprise when she is rescued by a man who looks very much like the men who are attacking her home. It is only later that she discovers that Finn is as much a Highlander as she is and that he has been sent by his sister to extract Catriona from the battle. Once again Tèile the fairy with a mission has her work cut out for her, especially as she only has a limited time in which to work her magic. Nothing goes to plan and when Laird Gillean arrives on the scene, Catriona is horrified to realize that he is her worst nightmare come to life. Once again, I found this novel somewhat brutal and although the book did come to a bitter-sweet conclusion, I skimmed over some of the more harrowing passages.
Wow! Battles, deceit and heartache are the mainstay of this story. After the unexpected death of her twin sister Katelyn, Catriona’s father instructs her to pretend to be Katelyn and take her place as Laird Gillean’s betrothed. Lorna, sister-in-law to Laird Gillean, sends her brother Finn to escort Katelyn to Kilcree for the wedding. However, when Finn arrives, Catrion’s home is besieged, and she is in need of rescuing. What follows is an exciting tale filled with action and danger. The attraction between Catriona and Finn is undeniable, and the consequences devastating. This is one of those books that is easily imaginable and plays like a movie in your mind. The characters are strong, their emotions are palbable, and it is just one thing after another. Carve out some time, as you will not be able to put this book down.
When he saved her during a castle siege, Finn thinks he is saving Katelyn who is betrothed to Laird Gillean. Catriona doesn’t dare tell him she is only pretending to be her sister who has died. As they travel, the two of them are drawn to each other. What will Finn do when he discovers the woman he is coming to care for has lied? What will Laird Gillean do. When things get dangerous and it looks as if Finn will lose Catriona, help arrives in the form of a small green faeri named Teile. It is her mission to see that Finn and Catie find their happily ever after. This is an exciting and compelling Highland adventure and romance, with a bit of magic. The characters are strong and draw you into their story. This is a good read, it is seems Teile has a little magic matchmaking left to do. Under false Pretenses💔 Adult medieval🏰 Highlander🐺💪🗡🐎 romance💕 and adventure. This book bases itself on the premise of the main female character pretending to be her dead twin Through most of the book in order to secure a marriage and a peace between clans and unity against the invading Vikings.. There was a lot of anxiety Put forth in this book because of The lies by the main character. The main male character, Finn , also Had a problem with getting married again because of his loss of his wife. Too much angst for me coming from both characters and it went through out the entire book.
I also thought Finn was not a gentleman And should have left the female character Alone since she was betrothed to the laird. The book doesn't really need the graphic adult scenes in it. It's a good story but just too angsty.
This review is a review of an updated 3/13/23 copy of To Dream of a Highlander:
Fate, A Green Faery, Deceit, Love: Exciting story of highland wars, betrayal, deception, desires, passionate kisses that read like throwing gasoline on a flame, many emotional, struggles, and fears to conquer. A little distraction by the Green Faery helped this couple find their happy ending. An enjoyable story with a good plot and interesting characters. My biggest con is the story had a slow start for me and dragged with too much dialogue that dwelled on their many experiences or thoughts. I am looking forward to the next in the series. Mature Advisory: I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy for my honest opinion.
I was really happy about this opportunity to read and review this “vintage” book by Samantha Holt, because she never disappoints. And this book was as gorgeous as I expected it to be, with well fleshed-out characters and an intriguing plot, some adventure and the right amount of angst. I loved how the author showed us the aftermath of Catriona’s assault: she didn’t miraculously forget everything, but she fought to heal and Finn helped her a lot. And she helped Finn in return! I liked the touch of magic that worked on bringing the characters together and I was left wanting to read Lorna’s story! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Catriona was being used by her own father to pretend to be her twin sister Kathlyn who was betrothed to Sir Gillean who threatened war on her fathers keep unless he gets Kathlyn. Catriona and Finn fall for each other when he rescues her from an attack in her fathers keep. This is a lovely romance that kept me turning the pages.

I enjoyed this book, it was nice to see a heroine who although strong, still struggled with trauma in her life, and didnt just ignore or brush off what happened to her, more realistic. I would again have liked to have had more involvement of the fae as it sort of skirts the story but not really doing alot here. Worth the read, and look forward to the final episode.

This story had everything needed to make a good book. Finn was definitely the best Highlander hero to rescue the sandal in distress. Catriona was a strong heroine that needed a hero. I also enjoyed the sneak peak into Lorna and Logan's love affair and that has me excited for book three.
Disguised as a Viking warrior, highlander Finn rescues twin in disguise, Catriona, as a favor to his sister Lorna, thinking he is bringing Katelyn back to her betrothed, Laird Gillean. Mayhem and madness follow on his heals as he reluctantly falls for his captured miss and she is not who he believes her to be!
An adventure filled romance with a bit of Fae matchmaking. I liked Finn and Catriona, both great characters and an enjoyable happily ever after. Another great read in the Highland Fae Chronicles series.

Our Review
Another winner by Samantha...
This was an enjoyable read light and easy reading. I always love reading highlander romances and anytime I can get my hands on one of them to read I am ecstatic!
I love reading Samantha's romance's as they are always so sweet. This was a page turner from beginning to end.Just a fun read that brought you some smiles from time to time.Love being along the ride of a couple slowly falling in love with neither looking or even expecting it.As always they are always those that plot to become between you but, you just have to believe that your love will overcome the obstacles in your way.
I always pick a favorite character to rave about and mine would have to be Finn. What a sweet an love-able guy you could not help falling for him yourself. The care he took with taking care of Catriona was endearing and so sweet.Finn was just a overall loving person who cared fiercely for is family and those that he is charged with to protect.Loving on one hand and deadly when he needed to be.Finn carried around some demons himself that he needed to let go and by loving Catriona he started healing even though he was never realizing it himself. My heart broke for him as he loved someone he thought he had no future with and had to let go no matter what, he had to do the honorable thing. She belonged to another....So sad as he never planned to let another close enough to him to love again.I loved Finn's interaction's with his sister.I loved the loving relationship he had with his sister.I love there interaction's he always had with Catriona to he always gave willingly never expecting something in return. He wore his heart on his sleeve without even realizing it. I was rooting for him and Catriona they made a wonderful couple they were both perfect for one another .With the help of fate and a Fae called Teile there may be a happy ending in this couple's future.
Catriona was another loving soul.Even though she lived in a household with no love from her father of twin sister she turned out to be sweet ,sincere, feisty and bold.I loved how she took charge of her future.Willing to make the greatest sacrifices a women can make for her clans people without no thought of he own happiness. How can you not admire someone like that?Loved watching her fall for Finn. How could she not fall for this hunky loving Highlander?Catriona was a brave lass taking what she could in the moment knowing she would have to some day give up what made her happy. My heart broke for her loss she must endure.Catriona really surprised me though she was tougher than I thought she was. This was one bold and feisty lass who was determined to change her own fate.
This was just a cute and sweet romance that brought you some smiles from time to time. The story had amazing and love-able and like-able characters overall. The plot had a hint of mystery and suspense as there was an interfering Fae there to be sure to bring this couple into each others path.A match making Fae who would have thought ?Really loved it a looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Be sure to check out some of Samantha's other titles what I have read of her books they have all been amazing reads...
A sweet historical romance with a dash of the far. Catriona is a fierce lass placed in an untenable situation. Finn is a highland warrior sent to protect her. The plot is based on the character deception being successful. Everyone has secrets that they are trying to hold on to for different reasons. Catriona and Finn struggle to stay away from each other until they tear down all their barriers.
Passion combines with danger, faery magic and subterfuge in To Dream of a Highlander, another sensual Highland romance from Samantha Holt. I found it to be another super read from an author who never fails to deliver in whatever genre she is writing in.
Finn, who appears in the previous novel, To Steal A Highlander’s Heart, is a hero whom I very quickly fell in love with. Despite his jovial manner, this handsome warrior is still mourning the loss of his first love, his wife who died in childbirth. When Finn first casts eyes on Catriona, he feels that she is familiar to him somehow, and comes to realise that she is the very woman who has been haunting his dreams…..
Finn believes that Catriona, who unbeknown to him, is masquerading as her twin Katelyn, is destined for another. He is constantly at war with himself over his wild attraction to her and his fear that he cannot let himself love again, being convinced that he failed his first love. However, when he realises that Catriona is in danger he will do his utmost to protect her, laying his life on the line. I just loved how the author portrayed Finn’s inner struggle and really felt for him throughout.
Catriona is both a strong yet vulnerable heroine and I immediately admired her bravery in coping with the bloody and brutal Viking attack on her father’s keep. Although in the initial confusion she at first fears that Finn is another Viking, she is drawn to him, due to his thoughtful behaviour, easy humour and the care he takes of her. Once she realises that he is her saviour she finds it difficult not to succumb to her attraction. It is Finn she turns to for support as she strives to cope with the memories of the attack on her childhood home and person, a traumatic experience that plagues her.
The scenes between the couple are both tender and passionate as they both struggle with their own inner demons, but neither can deny their mutual attraction for too long! Sexual tension is high and passion refuses to be denied between them, and they come together in a number of scorching swoonworthy scenes which I LOVED!
Catriona is determined to put the safety of the people of Bute first and continues to masquerade as her sister, even as she places herself in danger, for it seems she cannot escape the impending marriage to Laird Guillem. Will Finn put his fears aside and realise Catriona is destined for him alone or will she belong to another who may not have her best interests at heart? Also how will he and her prospective bridegroom react to Catriona’s deceit?
The antics and magic of the faerie Tiele, tasked by the Sidhe Council to bring Finn and Catriona together, are pivotal to the plot and are often amusing in the effect that they have on the couple, particularly Finn! Once again Tiele finds that the hearts of humans are far from easy to control. The supporting characters were well portrayed, in particular the widow Lorna, Finn’s sister, and her brother-in-law, Lord Guilleam who is her overlord and Catriona’s betrothed.
To Dream of A Highlander is another awesome read from this author and I recommend it to lovers of sensual historical romances, especially those who love tales featuring hot Highland warriors and feisty heroines! A copy of this book was given to me by the author for the purpose of a fair and honest review.
Sometimes a book just catches your eye. Sometimes, it's the cover, sometimes it's the author and sometimes it just says Highlander in the title.. For me it can be any of the three.
I was looking for a good book on netgalley and saw the work Highlander in the title and I found an excellent one. To Dream of a Highlander is the second book in Samantha Holt'sHighland Fae Series. A delightful mix of sexy highlanders and one sneaky little green fae who has matchmaking up her sleeve.
Catriona is the good daughter in a family of selfish, manipulating, power hungry people. She has been pushed off and ignored for her desire to not participate in the family fun and games. Over and over again she has been informed that she is lacking. But now, Daddy dearest has a plan for her. She must pretend to be her twin sister, a sister who died just a few weeks past. But she must be that woman until her father can find a way to dissolve her sister's betrothal to a man just like Daddy.. a man who wants their home and land. with no option Catriona agrees but before the plans can be set into motion the keep is attacked by the Norse and Catriona is saved by a gorgeous highlander.. a highlander who has been charged to bring "Katlyn" to her betrothed.
Finn Mac Chaluim is tasked by his sister to find "Katlyn" and bring her home. His only duty is to ensure her safety. Of course finding her just about to be raped by a scavenging Norseman was not on the agenda. Admiring her beauty is acceptable, respecting her strength of character is allowed. Falling for the woman is not permissible. But that is what Finn finds himself doing. It's hard because he is at constant battle with his honor, his past and his feelings. Finn doesn't want the responsibility of caring for a woman. He just wants to be free from a past that refuses to let go.
Things are difficult enough between the two of them.. but add in a mysterious green faery that has matchmaking in her blood. Fun times! It's is funny watching this poor faery try and figure out what's with these two. She is trying to matchmake them without using her powers. But she needs them to do things along a certain time table. Not as easy as it sounds.
This was a fun book, with just enough sizzle to keep it interesting. Ms Holt manages to delve into Scottish History and blend it into her story. Keeping it light even with the heavy and bloodstained history of Scotland.
It's worth the read and I promise, will bring a smile to your face and a cheer in your heart.

This review is based on the ARC of To Dream of A Highlander, provided by netgalley.
My View: I was given an arc of this book. This was also my first Highlander book ever. This book can be read as a stand alone.
That being said I absolutely enjoyed this book! You go through both Finn and Catriona's points of view through out this book... If you have read Sam's books you will know that Finn was married once and lost his wife while she was giving birth to their baby girl he has vowed never to love again because he blames him self for Alice's death, he doesn't think he was able to protect her and that was why she died along with their daughter........ Catriona is to be married to Laird Gillean Taking her sisters place who was originally to marry Laird Gillean. Laird Gillean is a money and land hungry, Catrion's father didn't think it would actually come to her marring for the king to help with the war. Finn is poses as a Viking to save Catriona from the Norse, when he finds her there is a viking forcing him self on her....Finn gets to her just in time, though hes dressed as a viking so Catriona doesn't know what to expect from him on their little trip, she has no clue to where they are going or who these men are.... When they get to land she tries to run and Finn finally explains that his sister sent him to get her before the vikings did, he is to take her to her sister where Laird Gillean will come to wed her and take her home with him.... She spends a few days at the castle getting to know Finn, Lorna (Finn's sister) and Logan... She wants so bad to tell them her secret that she is Catriona and not her sister Katie, but she fears they will tell Gillean and he wont help the people of her town..... When Gillean arives she has to keep convincing her self that marring him will help her people, she tries to get word to her farther so she wont have to marry him... Gillean has know that she is pretending to be her sister Katie who is dead... he got word that Katie and her father were dead do to the invasion... Gillean tells her he intends to marry her for her dowry left from her father and sister.... When Lorna stands up for Catriona and wont allow Gillean to mistreat her. Gillean take Lorna and Catriona and locks them up until he can marry Catriona.... Things are not as simple as that when Finn and Logan attempt the free them......... Yes this was a FANTASTIC book its not released yet but will post a link when it is definitely a must read!
The cover is gorgeous and shows the highland background which follows the plot in the story, to me a cover is always key to grab the readers attention. This is another well written novel by this author in her Highland Fae Cronicles. The author has added together two different realms into one and made it into one amazing storyline. I love historical romance, and this one has a touch of fairies. We meet again a fairy named Teile who has been trying to go back to the fae realm but has to prove herself with tasks of matchmaking. Catriona is the main lady in this story and of course is a pawn in the game (as were many back in those days) set forth by her father to marry. After an unforeseen incident happens lies start being told and next thing you know she is thrown into an even bigger mess. Can she get herself out of this problem? Finn, talk about a god gift to women. He is sent in to help a precious cargo that was asked for by his sister but seems a very reluctant to let it go after spending time with it and starts to torture himself. I swear men have definitely not changed from these times. This story will have you enthralled and you don’t even need Teile’s help (trust me not all her magic goes the way you want it just read this book). The characters are all written to where you will fall in love with them or want to beat them with a stick, but trust me they are all needed to for this treasure of a book. I highly recommend this novel to everyone! It has it all, fun, exciting, little steam, even some heartbreaking parts in it. Who wouldn’t want this!!!! Grab it you won’t regret it. I am definitely looking forward for the next one in this series because they keep getting better.
The second in the series Finn and the presumed Kateland are falling even more deeply in love for each other though neither knows the others intentions. Finn fights to protect the young scared women he believes to be betrothed to his sister's brother-in-law a despicable viscous man but yet the overlords of the land. Lakeland has her homeland, her family ,Finn and his sister Lorna all in mind as she plays the part of being her identical twin sister just as her father ordered her at her sisters death. Believing her father will come as he stated and she will not have to marry the overlords. After her home was attacked and she escaped cavity was nearly raped at the hands of a viscous Viking warrior only being rescued at the last moments by someone she thought to be another Viking. After being in the company of her rescuers for days she realizes they are the rescue party that was to have come but that the war had started much sooner than anyone had expected. Caity finds herself being soothed and drawn to her hero as he comforts her from nightmares and the attraction blossoms for both. Eventually Finn arrives at his sister's keep where he was instructed to bring the girl while they are there Finn struggles to keep himself honorable and stay away from the young woman who has been promised to another but fate draws them ever closer. Then her betrothed shows up. I highly recommend reading this book even though it's 2nd in the series the books are stand alone books and are wonderful novels. They are great love stories and a great way to spend your evenings in a quiet other world.
Series: Highland Fae Chronicles #2 Category /Genre: Romance Received from: Samantha Holt (in exchange for an honest review) Recommended for: 18 + due to sexual content Grammar/editing: A – near perfect
This is the second book in the Highland Fae Chronicles. It does stand alone, but I suggest reading them in order.
Catriona is hiding a pretty big secret, with the best of intentions. She is posing as her twin sister Katelyn who recently died in order to fulfill a marriage contract and save the people of her keep.
Finn is a highland warrior. At the request of his sister, his mission is to rescue Katelyn from the Norse invasion on the island keep
The green faery, Teile is back and intends to prove herself as a matchmaker. She knows that fate intends for Catriona and Finn to be together, but her mishaps in bringing Alana and Morgann together in TO STEAL A HIGHLANDER’S HEART have caused problems in this time line. Now she wants to set things right, but use as little magic as possible so she doesn’t cause more problems.
The faery was not a prominent character in the first book, but she is definitely more involved this time. Teile was fun! I would love to be friends with her. Catriona was a balanced mix of intelligent innocence and strong femme.
I loved the believable, lovable characters of this story. Extremely well-written, this is a quick, light, easy read that brings you to an HEA, but not all things end happily, thus leaving the door open and ready for the next book in the series.
Samantha Holt is a very talented author. She sweeps right into her Highland world in To Dream of a Highlander. I felt as if I truly was apart of Catriona. When she was hurting, I felt her pain. When she was happy, I laughed along with her. The detail described in To Dream of a Highlander was amazing! I could picture the character's surroundings and feelings as if I was right there with them. Catriona is a very strong, sweet and caring lass who will fight to the end for those she loves and cares about. Even if that means she must go along with an plot her father put together against a powerful and feared laird. Catriona had no idea that one night would change her life in so many ways. Finn is the strong, handsome and dedicated Highlander who is afraid to let women close after a great loss in his life. He is a rough and rugged Highlander who has a secret soft spot for a beautiful dark haired lady. This book swept me into the Highlands from the first page and I could not put it down. I loved every second of it and cannot wait to find out more about Lorna's story. I love Teile and her free spirit. I hope she is back in the next book.
Thank you Samantha for another amazing Highland adventure!
