"You've got to show your love for him so hard that even Hananoi flinches!"

If I had a least favorite volume of this series, it would be this one, but the way hope was all over the page at the end thanks to the MVP Yao-kun, I can't stay I hate this volume either like I felt at one brief moment.

I will say though I hate how I knew what was coming based off the end of the previous volume, but I honestly felt I was just as much in a daze as Hotaru that it really took a while to get over my shock. It wasn't until Hotaru couldn't stop overthinking that I found myself crying because she is trying SO hard and really think she poses a heartbreaking question of what do you do if someone falls out of love with you because you're changed as a person?

It really tore at my heart to see her breakdown and worry about that because even though she has changed since dating Hananoi, I still feel they are not ALL bad changes. She's grown so much and truly just want her to be happy. (I have no doubts Hananoi is beating himself up or is at the very least struggling just as much as she is!)

I'm currently debating to get the digital volume and see what happens next because while the ending of this really encouraged my heart, I still feel crushed by what happened 😭😭😭

I understand but I don’t at the same time?! But sometimes, you need time apart to realize what you have. Also, Yao is just a sweetheart. He loves Hotaru but doesn’t take advantage of her vulnerability. He lets her cry to him about another guy! I’m not sure dudes like that even exist in real life lol.

This volume made me so upset, but the ending was so good. I was nervous about Yao-kun being involved, but I should’ve known that he wouldn’t let me down! I understand the reasoning that both Hananoi and Hotaru have but I really need them to communicate and realize they’re wrong 😂

THE ENDING?!?!?! I NEED THE NEXT VOLUME RIGHT NOWWWW

3rd act breakups will never be my favourite but at least it's one of the few that did it well.

I mean, I totally understand where Hananoi is coming from. At the same time though, I don't think a break up is necessarily the answer. Anyways, the next volume will be the last so I'll be looking forward to the reunion before this series is laid to peace (and I get peace from it as well {said affectionately})

I liked and disliked this volume. It tackled some interesting issues, but…in a way I didn’t like. I think they’re working through things and will figure it out in the next volume, but I was super annoyed by Saki saying that he didn’t want her to change to accommodate his issues. That’s all well and good, but as Hotaru noted, that means HE’D have to change instead.

There are some things about their relationship that do read as problematic, but they are both very thoughtful people and so it’s under control IMO. He wants to monopolize her but he DOESN’T, and that’s the important part. That he could let her go for such a reason shows that his possessiveness does yield to rational thought (even if I think it’s irrational). He gets stressed around strangers, and that’s normal, they can easily work things out. The problem is more that they’re so conscientious they blame themselves all the time.

The reality is that most couples don’t mesh 100%. They have different personalities, expectations, and boundaries. While not everyone can or should be together just because of love, it’s absolutely normal to make compromises and yes, to change…not exactly FOR, but WITH your partner. It’s inevitable that you influence each other, and that you will be considerate of their preferences which will lead you to make different choices than you might on your own. TBH if you acted the same as before, it’s as if they didn’t exist, and I would probably think you’re not a very thoughtful partner. It’s like…maybe you were a free spirit and stayed out at all hours. But your partner worries, so you adjust that habit and gave updates on your whereabouts. Yes, Saki is going to prioritize Hotaru’s safety over his own. Ok, then Hotaru will likely be more mindful so he doesn’t need to protect her and get hurt. Often you don’t even want to do all the same things you did before, because your partner takes up a significant part of your time 🤷🏻‍♀️

I thought more time had passed, but I guess it’s only been a month. I don’t think she’d have been receptive to Yao in such a short period, so it’s good he seems to have realized that and stepped back. Hopefully the time apart did them both good.

I really think her manager is going to end up with Kagari, but it keeps getting dropped…I hope it explores that more.

I'm like....infuriated but also sat. because this whole third act breakup is so ridiculous!!!!! I understand bits of it but they both are being so dumb about it all. I was surprised in the best way by Yao-kun. idk. I just feel like overall Hananoi was doing so well and growing so much, then just backtracked on everything and dropped into a pit of self-wallowing despair lol. and Hotaru still just doesn't know how to open up to him!! so frustrating. and the grandpa subplot still seems so random to me haha. this volume was a 3.5/5 but I'm rounding up to 4 because I'm too damn far into this series and I do care for the characters/this relationship, I just really wish this wasn't at the end of the series.

I hate that Hananoi and Hotaru are broken up, but it doesn't make sense. Hananoi has some demons he needs to sort out, and until he figures out, then it will be harder for them moving forward. Hotaru also needs to be less of a people pleaser. She didn't really need to apologize for missing their date. She had a legitimate reason and can't just be there to assure Hananoi all the time. I hope they both can grow.

I’m so glad I trusted this mangaka, because this series could have leaned into poor writing and mild attempts to power through to a decent ending, but not this one!!

They broke up for healthy reasons, and I can’t wait for the final volume!!!

sad

I love this series, but I don’t understand why saki and Hotaru had to break up! I do think that Yao would be better for Hotaru though.

This is just sad. Hanananoi and Hotaru clearly both want each other's happiness as well as their own and obviously still love each other, but can't seem to connect correctly. This isn't helped at all when Hanananoi manages a rather thorough disappearing act. Their friends seem to be trying to be supportive, but it's understandable that everyone seems truly baffled by this turn of events. Hopefully this isn't the end of the series as there doesn't seem to be a next volume noted anywhere that I've been able to find, but this would be a really sad place to leave off with these two. Especially after Hotaru even gained a little more insight into the timing with her grandfather's death. Unlikely that it would really do anything to change Hanananoi's feelings on the events immediately, but might help long term with some level of acceptance that could hopefully lead to some healing.

This volume had me going through a bit of an emotional rollercoaster because as much as I love Hananoi and Hotaru together, I can certainly see why Hananoi made the decision to break up since their dynamic wasn’t healthy at times. It hurt to see how much pain Hotaru was in over their break-up and then Hananoi’s vanishing act certainly didn’t make things easier for her. Yao continues to be an absolute sweetheart and I really liked seeing more of Hotaru’s older sister, and even learning a bit more about Hananoi’s family.
With news that this series is going to be over soon, I’m very curious to see how many more volumes it’ll have and how things between Hananoi and Hotaru will turn out (as a pair and individually). Also, if there is even a chance for this manga series to get a spin-off manga, I want Yao to get his own happy ending and find someone to cherish him.
