I did enjoy this book. It is a very good continuation of the story, but there are a couple of things that did not make sense to me, which is why I could not give it five stars. Though I guess those things could be explained later in the series.
Luna is determined to rescue Duncan from his captors, but she has made other enemies as well. Who have decided it is time to put her on her place. However, when backed into a corner, Luna comes out fur and fangs.
The inconsistencies i mentioned are things like characters showing at just the right time condtsntly or Duncan being controlled but mote or less having free range to do whatever he wants.
There is a slow burn to the character development and the characters' relationships, which I enjoy, but things can go a bit faster, though these bodes well for a long series. I can't wait for the next book.
The next installment arrived and I did not put it down until the end. Another amazing story, more unanswered questions and some very satisfactory results. Love this series and Lindsay is the Queen of urban fantasy - dragons dwarves, elves and now wolves. Hope there will be a demon series after this one ends!!
Gah! 68% in and the CONSTANT snarky banter is working my friggin nerves. It totally stalls the story. Maybe because I’m reading them consecutively on KU, the prevalence of it hits harder. I have skimmed more of this and the previous book than I’ve read. I’m going to cancel my preorder of the next one, CURSE OF THE WOLF, and hope it’ll be available on Kindle Unlimited. I want to know how all this is resolved*, but…
Some, but not all, of threads I want to know how will be concluded:
*Do they save and adopt Duncan’s young clone-brother *what will be fallout now that Austin “knows”; will he tell Cameron *can her human boys be accepted into the pack (her mother’s very wolf-centric dismissal of them pisses me off) *will Luna have a chance to kick Chad’s ass and show her boys exactly what a lower form of life he is (even better if her sons kick his ass) *OH! Maybe Luna and Duncan will be able to buy Sylvan Serenity. Jasmine and other paranormals will live there
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I like the snarky banter between the characters. Duncan has been nabbed again and Luna is determined to find him and rescue him from his maker. Her son Austin has come for a visit and has gone on a trip with his friends while Luna keeps protecting the apartment complex that is soon to be put on the market. The motorcycle gang keeps coming back and causing destruction to the grounds and bringing the police back on site still looking for wolves. 👮I like Luna‘s assistant Bolin, his language skills and “bombshells” and adore her niece Jasmine. Funny her half sister, the real estate agent never come around but her niece talks about her father a lot. I am sorry her mother is ill with cancer and hope that one of the artifacts will temporarily stop its progress. Luna and Duncan can’t catch a break every time you think their relationship is moving forward; it stalls dramatically. The way they talk about chocolate, specifically dark chocolate in this book is the first time I’ve noticed werewolves having a preference for dark chocolate it’s too funny.
When we last saw Duncan, he was leaving under the control of the magic device that connects to his head. Luna is determined to save him even though she has no idea where he is. To add to her problems, a biker gang keeps terrorizing her complex warning her to back off. They also have gun with silver bullets and some sort of magical device. With help from magical potions obtained from Rue, some druidic potions and Bolin, as well as her niece Jasmine, they set out to find and rescue Duncan. And her youngest son is visiting for Christmas, fortunately he has gone snowboarding with his friends so is missing the action. There is action, a bit of mystery, suspense, surprises and the slow romance, actually a possible second romance. This book has a way of covering serious problems while still being humourous. As usual, it is a quick, fun, good, easy read. I’ve never been disappointed with her writing.
So this book seems like prep for bigger build up. Not as satisfying a read or ending. So many little things going on and nothing going on at the same time. While it was still a good read, it wasn't as interesting as the first 2 books. The storyline with her son was interwoven in an odd way and let me unfulfilled. I want to say more but don't want to ruin things.
How long will we keep dancing ard the attraction between Luna and Duncan? Why does her mama keep saying these off things? The book left me with more answers than questions and I hope things make a bit more sense in the next book. I'm exhausted just reading all the things that Luna has to take care of at this point.
This one was such a blast! Luna’s voice is as sharp and charming as ever, and I loved how far she’d go to help Duncan when things got serious. There’s a solid mix of action, magic, and emotional depth—and their bond keeps growing stronger.
The banter is top-notch!
“As a good werewolf, my mother encouraged fearsome expressions… ‘That was less fearsome and more I‑can‑barely‑hold‑my‑pee‑any‑longer.’ ‘That disturbs enemies too.’”
With werewolf politics, drama involving her kid, and just the right chaos, it’s another solid, entertaining installment. I can’t wait to see where Luna and Duncan go next.
This series like her others, is a fun and satisfying read. The sparkling wit laced with sarcasm between the two main characters is terrific! I always love her main characters, usually strong independent women with some sort of magic/ supernatural abilities. Her good vs evil themes generally play out without gore or excessive violence or brutality which I appreciate. The entwining themes of romance, family strength, and respect are also key in her books. As in the title, I always love a Lindsay!
Maybe 3.5. There is not any development with the characters in this at all. A few small bumps in the overall "quest" (since that word is being used) with some recovery. However, nothing found so far has been explained - or does anyone know how to use it. Duncan - while missing for a bit really is doing some of what he likes to do anyway. That was pretty anti-climatic. Austin, Luna's son, takes an active role in this one - for good or bad. Jasmine is also involved. Luna continues to face lots of dangerous people from 2 different camps and nothing is really resolved.
One of my favorite Authors, she never disappoints. Intriguing storylines, action, snark, humor, great characters and best of all great dialogue. I love Duncan & Luna and how they interact together and with all the others. Believable reactions to paranormal activities plus the mundane life of a property manager (not an easy occupation either).
I always enjoy Lindsay's books because of the imaginative strong characters and love the snark she gives them. But also because I'm a native of Northwest Washington it's always fun to read references to place names I know well. This time it was the town of Deming, where I grew up, Maple Falls and Silver Lake that were nearby and where I spent a lot of time. This has been just yet another fun series...
An9ther Thriller in the Luna and Duncan Werewolf Series
I could hardly wait for this book to finally get finished to find out how Luna and Duncan would finally hook up. That may have to wait another year, but there was no lack of drama, thrills, and a fascinating buildup for a female superwoman by locals being robbed and threa5ened by a bad group of human filth in the once safe neighborhood. Still would like to get to see some love development between lunasnd Duncan.
I went thru these books like a weedeater cutting thru Johnson grass! Loved everything about them. Can hardly wait for the next one.. I never use spoilers, I just want you to know these books are great with unexpected happenings.. And I never read the covers of books, I love being completely unaware of what might happen! And this series has completely captivated me... So read them and ENJOY!!!
Tearing through this series. Love the premise and how I can’t read it fast enough to find out what happens next with characters I’ve come to really care about and enjoy. Normally I would get frustrated at the extremely slow burn romance, but these two give us so much heart and feeling, I’m more than satisfied. The side characters keep it lively and heartfelt too. Nothing better than a good found pack story! On to book 5!
I read this straight through in one day, because it was impossible to put down! Thankfully, the author works fast, so the next book in the series should drop soon! There's a lot of action, appropriate amounts of snarky dialogue, and surprising revelations. Still much more to come!
The characters all have depth and quirks. Humor nicely offsets tense action scenes. This is a delightful escape with fun sci to references. The female protagonist has a hilarious rake on most anything. Super fun read and wish I could just click for the next book
Lindsay Buroker's writing is always pure pleasure to read. A werewolf apartment complex manager and her treasure hunting love interest fight renegade bikers, mad scientists, and jealous family and pack members just to be left alone long enough to get to know each other better. What's not to love?
I really appreciate that all of her heros are different age groups and not all mid 20s like many sci-fi fantasy books.
All of her characters are interesting and the worlds are engaging and fleshed out. I've yet to read a book from her I didn't want to stay up reading all night.
I love this series. It’s full of magic, bad guys, really bad guys and werewolves. It is artfully written, funny and several nights stayed up into the wee hours of the morning because I couldn’t stop reading until I finished the book! I have my calendar marked for the release of the final book in this series. Can’t wait!
Another great installment in the Magnetic Magic series. I’m thoroughly enjoying the middle-aged heroine, Luna, and all of her reluctant adventures. Of course, problems can’t be polite and wait their turn; when problems come to call, they all come at once. I’m still waiting for Luna to get a crime-fighting moniker for the locals to call her!
I am rooting for everyone in this series…especially Luna and Duncan. When I started reading this series, I didn’t know it was going to be 6 books. I took my sweet sweet time reading this one because I didn’t want to wait a month for the next one to come out. It’s worth the waiting though.
Best werewolf series ever. I am throughly enjoying this. I can’t wait to start the next book. Amazing! You must read this series. I giggle and snort much to my animal’s astonishment. Kudos!
A thoroughly good read. Ms. Buroker never fails to ensure that I am easily involved in her writings and I find Luna an intriguing, complex character that I want to achieve the happiness she strives for. I eagerly await book five.
I love this storyline and the characters in them. Luna and Duncan are cute unrequited couple. Hopefully we'll see an end to the unrequited part soon. Fabulous addition to the series. I'm anxiously awaiting the next
I truly wish I didn't read so fast, but once I start a Lindsay book I can't seem to put it down. Yet another fine example of her incredibly good book writing skills.
As always a perfect 10. This book has everything action, adventure, comedy. Thank you for keeping me entertained. Looking forward to the next adventure of Luna and Duncan.
This has been another great series. The back and forth conversations between the main characters is especially humorous. The descriptions of Washington State weather are spot on and add to the humor.
As the norm, Lindsay's novels are always gripping and exciting. Will Luna and Duncan ever get a chance to be together? The characters are all so real and well developed. I feel like I know them well!
Luna trying to prevent her job and her home from being sold out from under her, she’s trying to rescue Duncan, and trying to figure out how the wolf head case works. I will be reading the next book in the series.
It was a good book. I was entertained and enjoyed the story. I didn't gush over it and felt it lacked any true depth but it's a quick read that'll keep you engaged enough to want to know how it ends.
