I'm the author of the Swift Investigations, Mall Cop and Readaholics mystery series.

After twenty years as an Air Force intelligence officer – serving as a squadron commander, with the National Reconnaissance Office, and at a fighter wing – I retired to parenting and writing full-time.

Spying was easier.

A very fun cozy mystery, this is book-club themed. The author chooses one book per story that the club discusses and then ties that a bit into the story-line. For the first of the series it's the Maltese Falcon, a book I haven't personally read yet but will eventually (maybe) get to. I like how the club actually discusses the book and follows with a film later.

The main character is a joy. She's a wedding coordinator who runs into her ex and is hired to host his wedding. Awkward but gives us humorous tension. The club members vary in age and career and personality, which only heightens the enjoyment of the bunch as their pair together to solve the crime involving one of their own. Besides knowing a murder has happened, Amy-Faye has to convince people her friend was murdered in the first place. Enter a new detective who's stubborn and heart-throbbing, she amateurishly works with the club to find the culprit.

The murder mystery has several viable suspects and isn't impossible to solve. I figured the culprit out but there were enough doubts and red herrings to make me question my choice.

The author writes well - she doesn't have the overly scrubbed, clean feeling some cozies are cursed with, humor feels natural but not overdone, and she brings characters to life in the right stereotype cut-out to match the type of book this aims to be. Throwing in the themes of book love, book clubs, small towns, cats, and wine is a win. Happy to have found a new cozy series.

Knowing I wanted to read this when I saw the title, I am definitely a "readaholic" and when I read the synopsis I knew I wanted to get to know Amy-Faye and her book loving friends, a book group of "readaholics".

Amy-Faye's blooming event planning business is in full swing with a whole list of events planned in her hometown of Heaven, Colorado including planning a wedding for her former boyfriend, Doug and his Fiance, Madison. She decides to take it on all the while nursing feelings that are creeping up from their past relationship that she is full out denying to herself.

Her group of friends are a close knit group. With Amy-Faye naming them the "Readaholics". Getting together to read books then discussing them. Life seems to be heaven until her friend and "Readaholic", Ivy is found clinging to life by Amy-Faye buy Ivy does not make it and the police shrug it off as a suicide but Amy-Faye never believed that Ivy could be the type to commit suicide. Amy-Faye starts to dig deeper and discovers that Ivy was keeping secrets and comes across something that could destroy some of Heaven's most prominent residents. Amy will risk it all to try to find her friend, Ivy's killer and throw the book at him for good.

With a feisty and determined sleuth named Amy-Faye, and her group of "Readaholic" friend's and with a murderer lurking it's winning combination for this first in a series. An enticing plot with a eccentric cast of characters that are sure to please the reader and it surely pleased me. I felt for Amy-Faye and her plight sometimes on the verge of tears for her. A fantastically written beginning to what is sure to be a long lasting and engaging series. I can't wait to read and review the next book in this series, The Readaholics and the Poirot Puzzle in December 2015

I was so excited when I first heard about this series. I’ve never been in a book club, but it’s something I would love to do. Until that time, I’m happy I can enjoy the experience through series such as this one.

I always read the dedications and acknowledgements on books. So, I would like to thank Ms. DiSilverio for dedicating this first book in her new series to us, the readers.

There are books you know you are going to love after just a few sentences. THE READAHOLICS AND THE FALCON FIASCO for me was one of those books. I was immediately hooked.

Amy-Faye Johnson is such a fun character. First person hasn’t always been my favorite form of storytelling, though through reviewing I’ve grown used to it, I can’t imagine this story being told any other way than through Amy-Faye’s narration. I could hear her voice in my head so vividly. The entire cast of characters were very fleshed out and well written. I have no doubt every reader of this series will find a character they can identify with.

The mystery aspect in the story is first rate. Even when my eyes were tired and hurting, I couldn’t put this book down. I was pulled in page after page until the exciting end.

If you are selective on the new series you choose to start, do yourself a favor and try this book. You will not be disappointed.

Congratulations Laura DiSilverio on a brilliant start to what I hope with be a long running series!

The Readaholics and the Falcon Fiasco is a fun little cozy mystery. I enjoyed just how bookish this story is and that cute little kitty cat. Cozy mysteries aren't really my style, but my favorite aspect was just how much this revolves around The Maltese Falcon. I may continue this series as it focuses on Murder on the Orient Express.

This book has been on my pile for over a year. I bought it not long after it came out, intending to read it right away, but I just kept looking over it when I picked out what to read next. I finally read it and I must say, this was an engrossing, fast-paced book that was solid and wonderful.

I loved Amy-Faye. She goes through a lot in this book, and yet comes out of it still swinging. Ms. DiSilverio did a wonderful job of create a complex main character, with just as complex secondary characters without letting the secondary characters upstage Amy-Faye. I loved Maude and all of the Readaholics, also, with the exception of Brooke. I could not stand Brooke. She was rudely patronizing to A-Faye multiple times, but A-Faye just swept it off like it was nothing. Ugh ugh ugh.

The setting was wonderful. I've always wanted to visit the mountains of Colorado, and this book beautifully described a town in the mountains. The mystery was engrossing, and complex. However, the ending of the book was extremely frustrating. I felt that it was a cheap cop-out to add more drama to fill up the last few pages, and it left the door wide open for a love triangle in future books. Again: ugh.

Overall this was a good book. It had wonderful characters (with the exception of Brooke), a beautiful setting, and a tantalizing mystery. However the ending was horrible, and Brooke was horrible, also, so this book only gets 3/5 stars from me. I will read the next one, and I do recommend this one. It was really a solid first in a series book. Actually, above average for first books in a series.

Reading the Readaholics and the Falcon Fiasco made two first reading experiences for me. First of all, the book was the a first in new series and it is the first book I have read by the author Laura DiSllverio. I enjoyed the book very much.

A close knit group of friends have a reading group. They meet at each other's house to discuss a mystery book. The selection this time was the Maltese Falcon. One member of the group dies the next day and the police rule it as a suicide. Amy-Faye, the protagonist, does not believe the suicide verdict. She works with other club members to solve the mystery. She receives threats while investigating and puts herself in danger with her straight forward personality. She also channels Kinsey Mallhone as in what would Kinsey do.

Amy-Faye is an event planner. One of her events is helping plan her ex-boyfriend's wedding who she still has feelings for. There were many suspects and motives for the murder. Could the motive be infidelity and the jealously it brings with it? It could be greed or corruption. There were red herrings and the clues were there if one recognized them as clues. The only drawback for me was when Amy-Faye hid possible evidence from the police. I know it was used to advance the plot. I did not have the murder solved by the time the author chose to reveal it. I changed my mind quite a few times as who committed the murder.

This is one of my favorite brand new series that I have read this year. I liked the characters, the premise of the book club, and the plot. I am looking forward to reading The Workaholics and the Poirot Puzzle that will be published at the end of the year.

This was first mystery book and new genre and new author to me. This was different experience and I liked it. I really wish to be a part of book club after reading this novel.
Amy-Faye and her Readaholic book club is really fun group discussing books at each other's house. When one of the friend dies from the group, and police declares it suicide, they could not believe it and started to investigate about it.
Life of Amy-Faye and other book club members is very nicely described. All main and small characters of book were interesting. Impressive Climax

The Readaholics And The Falcon Fiasco is the first book in the A Book Club Mystery series.

Amy-Faye has moved back to Heaven , CO after breaking up with her boyfriend and has started a business as an event planner. Business has been going well and Amy-Faye has been have a good time to date. As she is discussing with Madison Taylor plans for her upcoming wedding, Amy-Faye learns that the groom will be her ex, Doug Elvaston. Tempted to just walk away from planning this event, Amy-Faye realizes she can't just walk away from business and maybe she will be able to get some closure for this part of her life.

That evening as the Readaholics meeting is breaking up Ivy asks Amy-Faye to stop by her house to discuss an off-site event that Clay, her boss, wants implemented. When Amy arrives the next morning, she finds Ivy on the kitchen floor, near death. Shortly after she arrives at the hospital she passes away. Tests show that she had oleander in her bloodstream and her death is ruled a suicide. None of the Readaholics believe this finding and set out to find out what really happened to Ivy.

With the help of the Readaholics, Amy-Faye is determined to find the necessary information to get the police to declare the death a murder. The first person to she looks into is Ivy's brother who has had a substance abuse problem and needs money to live on. But soon Amy-Faye a copy of some kind of ledger page with a list of numbers. Book club member Maud is able to break the code, it turns out that there is a gambling ring in Heaven and they need to find out if that has any bearing on Ivy's death.

The book has an interesting cast of character and will be looking forward to getting to know them better in the next book.

Laura DiSilverio's brand new book in a brand new series is a fantastic read. This whodunit will keep you interested and hooked from the start. The characters are very likable and the story line will have you trying to figure out who the killer is until the wee hours of night.

Amy Faye is back in Heaven Colorado with a booming business. When she takes on a new client and realizes that it is her ex boyfriend things go from bad to worse. Amy-Faye's book club has just read the Maltese Falcon and they thought that watching the movie might be enjoyable but when Ivy, a member of the club is found dead, Amy and her friends need to find out what happened and stop the killer from attacking again.

You won't be able to put this book down once you start. The characters are strong and the story line is captivating.

This was a first-in-series, and it was pretty good! The main characters are part of a book club. The main character does some fact-finding that might be considered police work, a common thing among cozy mysteries, I think. Still, it was nice, light reading.

I picked this up because I recently read The Maltese Falcon, which plays a small part in this novel. It was a happy connection, although this is a cozy mystery with no hint of noir and no hard-boiled investigator.

A book club investigates the death of one of their members. Not a likely scenario, requiring a very high suspension of disbelief. In real life, police do not take kindly to such shenanigans. However, the author makes this work by having the police declare the death a suicide and the book club women refuse to believe that conclusion.

As cozy mysteries go, this is one of the better ones. Unlike so many of them, there is very little discussion of cooking, household tasks, personal grooming, or detailing everyone's wardrobe. Those details may be part of everyday life, but I find them boring to read about. There is a quite a bit about the main character's event planning business, but since it is relevant to the plot, I don't begrudge the time spent on it.

Like so many cozies, there is a significant romantic element, with Amy-Faye, our narrator, being attracted to the detective involved in the case. She's a small town girl, he's a big city guy. As an event planner, she is planning her high school boyfriend's wedding, adding another complication to the equation. I find these kind of emotional entanglements equal to the mystery in terms of interest, so I'm pretty sure that I'll be reading the remaining two books in the series.

Amy-Faye and her friends have formed a book club in their town of Heaven, Colorado. The morning after they meet to discuss The Maltese Falcon, Amy-Faye goes to meet with a member only to find that member dying from poison. The police rule is a suicide, but Amy-Faye is certain it was murder. With the help of the other Readaholics, she starts poking around. But what secrets will they uncover?

There were a lot of characters introduced early on, and I had a hard time keeping them straight early on. However, as I began to get into the story, their different personalities made it easy to distinguish them. The plot was strong with great twists and a couple of good sub-plots. I was surprised by the ending, and set the book down wanting the next already. I can’t wait for the sequel.

NOTE: I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A definite cosy mystery with a satisfying ending, the readaholics is a lovely story that I enjoyed reading. It is definitely solveable, but I was enjoying the pacing and characters so much that the mystery became less of a priority. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and cannot wait to get to the second book

New-to-me series, very enjoyable. Amy-Faye runs both a reading club and a party planning business in her small town in Colorado. When one of the book club members is poisoned, Amy-Faye sets out to prove to the police that she did not commit suicide. On top of that, her ex-boyfriend is getting married and his fiancé wants her to plan the wedding. Then there's the new homicide detective--a transplant from Georgia-- who makes her head spin.

Amy-Faye and Doug have been on again off again for years. As he announces his engagement to a new girl they ask her to be the wedding planner. Against her instincts she agrees.
This is running thread through the main storyline, which is one of her reading group dying. The police think Ivy committed suicide, but Amy-Faye thinks otherwise. She starts poking around and finds lots of things pointing to it being murder. Despite being told to drop it, she can’t leave it alone. Ivy was her friend and wants to see justice done.
My first read by this author, I enjoyed it and look forward to more by this author.

This was a fun book to read. A lot of times cozy mysteries can be corny and boring, but this one definitely kept my interest enough to more than likely finish out the series. I was correct with who I guessed the murderer was. Yay me! And the main character does talk about Kinsey Millhone quite a bit (one of my favorite characters ever!!!)

Check this book out if you are a fan of cozy mysteries or just looking for something quick to read.

I'd say 3.5 stars, but since it looks like they are going to run with a love triangle, I'm dropping it to 3.

Amy-Faye has an event planning business and is surprised when her new bridal client is marrying her old boyfriend. But even that isn't as bad as when a friend turns up dead and the police think it is suicide. Amy-Faye and the other members of the book club don't believe it and set out to prove it. This of course uncovers some secrets.

I liked the town and characters, although some could use more fleshing out. Amy-Faye seemed realistic

Amy-Faye is struggling to get her event business noticed, she's "dating" the new detective in town, her old flame Doug is getting married (and she has signed on to do the wedding) and one of her long time friends has come to a bad end. Ivy's death, ruled a suicide by the police, leaves only Amy-Faye and her book club the Readaholics to solve the crime they're sure must have been committed against their friend.
A well thought out story drawing you to different people who could have committed the murder. A nice cozy mystery that has the book club discussing the Maltese Falcon at their last meeting before Ivy dies. Ivy was quite angry and outspoken about men being scums, untrustworthy and unreliable during the meeting which made the group wonder what else might be going on...it couldn't just be abut the book. Finding Ivy's killer brings the talents of all the readaholics into play and finally people begin to see that they may be right about it not being a suicide.
The writing is a bit overly descriptive for me but I really enjoyed the characters and the story. I'll be reading the rest of this series eagerly.

Cute little cozy. A member of Amy-Faye's book club has died under mysterious circumstances. With the help of the club and the new police detective in Heaven, Co, she sets out to solve it.
It was a good mystery with loose ends to wrap up in the future. However the future can just dump her old boyfriend, I like the detective.
I'll be reading number 2.
