I'm the author of the Swift Investigations, Mall Cop and Readaholics mystery series.

After twenty years as an Air Force intelligence officer – serving as a squadron commander, with the National Reconnaissance Office, and at a fighter wing – I retired to parenting and writing full-time.

Spying was easier.

I hope to some day publish more Mall Cop books, but at the moment my publisher isn't interested in more. Maybe if I get hugely famous, they'll bet me to continue the adventures of EJ and Grandpa Atherton. I had great plans for them! I'm also considering the possibility--scary!--of self-pubbing another novel in that series and seeing how it does.

You get up every morning and do your job, even when you're not in the mood. That said, I usually have at least three projects in some stage of development, so if the words aren't flowing on the draft of the third Readaholics book, I might switch to proofreading the typeset copy of The Reckoning Stones (coming in Sep), or outlining the final book in my not-yet-sold YA trilogy. Mixing it up keeps me fresh and creative (most of the time!).(less)

Virtual Book Club

I’m trying something new. And you can join me. Writing about the five women who make up the Readaholics book club in my new mystery series has inspired me to start a book club. It’s been seven or eight years since I participated in a book club, and I’m ready to be part of one again. Inaugural Meeting This time, though, the book club is virtual. Instead of meeting in people’s homes, we’re going to Read more of this blog post »

“Pish.” He flips his hand. “I haven’t so much helped you as turned a blind eye. Besides”—he smiles almost impishly—“no one will know anything about it. You don’t think I haven’t figured out ways of entering my own lab without leaving a record of my presence, do you? There’s no such thing as a security system that can’t be penetrated with enough time and ingenuity. And I’ve got both, goddamnit.”
