Story outlining Jaycee Duggar’s captivity for 18 years. Incredibly upsetting hearing what the captor engaged in prior to her captivity and how this could have been prevented. Only 4 stars because I don’t know if Jaycee and her family is receiving monetary value from this book, if they are I would say 5.

Listened to the audiobook. It’s informative and well-researched, but I had a hard time with the author referring to Jaycee as “Alyssa” during her captivity — the name her kidnapper gave her. Felt uncomfortable and unnecessary. Still a decent overview of the case, but that choice really took away from the experience for me.

This shouldn’t have never happen. System didn’t do their jobs at all. He should’ve got out the first time. There were so many RED flags and he broke parole how many times? No one did anything. So heart broken story. She deserves better
