A bit too heavy handed on the exposition for me. Several instances of one character just monologuing for pages to explain a concept, connection, or relationship. There were lots of complex things going on, so the exposition is understandable, but it got tiresome. Ray Porter narrating was really my main motivation to continue reading it. Seems to be setting up for a series - I'm willing to try the next one, but don't think I'll be rereading this one any time soon.
The ending was too much of a set up for future works. It could have been a bit cleaner while still allowing room for a story beyond this one. Also a bit of a little sci-fi stereotypical ending. That said, however, it did however keep me interested and engaged the vast majority of the time. I will likely read the eventual sequel as well.

The premise of the book is a little weak but I kept hoping that it would get better. Sadly it just trundled along in the same manner and the ending was an even bigger let down.
