I found Cassey only recently through her YouTube videos. I love that she focuses on total-body workouts that are healthy, practical, and help me build strength and tone instead of focusing on weight-loss. I was extremely excited to get my hands on this book, and definitely wasn't disappointed.

I like having her workouts in a book so I can check them out off-line, or put them together for mini-workouts when I have time (at the office for example).

The book is bright and cheerful, the recipes are simple and delicious, and her instructional photos are easy to follow along with. With Cassey, I went from hating workouts to looking forward to it every day. Now with this book I have more to add to my routine!

I've been doing Cassey's workouts since the beginning of 2014 so I'm well versed in the methods of her POP pilates already but it's a pretty great book for a pictorial breakdown of many moves as a reminder. The sections of seasons is nice, too, with lists of seasonal ingredients and a selection of recipes you can try, along with a suggested meal plan (some of which can easily be translated into vegetarian, some not). The motivational sections are a given for a fitness book, too and you know with Cassey you can hear her peppy voice in your head, telling you that you can do it. She's got that spark that really struck me has kept me going since then. And if you're just jumping into it this is a pretty sweet book that can help segue you into the online community from the site where you get monthly calendars and a place that help build a whole army of workout buddies. It's harder to quit when you and everyone else is complaining about the sore abs from the same routine that day. The best part is you don't really need equipment or a gym membership so it is basically free. Personally, I've bought some weights, stretchy bands, a power ring and more but they're not necessary. The only necessary thing is to get up and just start. Nothing is more inspiring to continue on than the compliments you receive about how great you look.

I'm SO excited about this book! I've been doing Cassey's workouts for the last couple of years, and I highly recommend you check out her Youtube Channel + her POP Pilates Total Body Workout DVD. In Hot Body Year Round you'll get an insight into Cassey's life story, Pilates history, learn how to eat cleaner, get slim, and live your happiest life now through every waking season.

Obviously I haven't done every single workout yet, but I'm definitely looking forward to continuing working (and clean eating) my way through Cassey's Hot Body Year Round.

Also worthy of noting, the photography, typography, and general overall layout of this book is fresh and exciting and fabulous! And have I mentioned . . . beautiful!? Because this book is beautiful, and challenging, and chock full of POPster Greatness.

Whether you're new to the Pilates game, or you're a well-seasoned POPster, you'll love working out and clean eating your way through this gorgeously laid out and well written book. And if you're not familiar with Cassey Ho, well, shame on you for not knowing about her -- but I promise you that this book will be a glorious intro!

I like this book for the portability of the exercise plan. I wanted to be able to take something on vacation with me to keep my workouts consistent without a lot of hassle. This is all body weight work with little to no props (yoga mat, but you don't even need that really).

4 stars because I found some of the descriptions a little confusing. For example, in the Eagle Crunch and Genie Abs in the Spring Core workout, it seems to me that you should do 15, then switch the wrap and do 15 more. So that's what I did for balance. Also, I'm not sure why the book is broken down into seasons. In the little workout schedule she provides in the beginning of the book she says to do one workout (be it arms or abs or whatever for that day)for beginners, but 4 of each (abs, arms, legs) workout every day for intermediate to advanced. If I have to do 4 of, say abs, for the day then I am doing the ab workout for each season in one day. So the book isn't really seasonal. I was hoping for the workouts to actually change each season, but with this schedule they won't. It may be boring fast if this is the only thing you are relying on. I plan to incorporate this with yoga, HIIT and weight training and do it on my off days so I think it should work for me.

Diet-wise it was nothing new to me. Mostly clean eating. (Mostly clean because she does allow grains where I don't necessarily think grains are clean). She does have some good ideas on how to change up the same dish with the seasons though.

This book is gorgeous - full color all the way through and the layout is very well done. (I say this as a graphic designer myself. I appreciate good layout/design.)

This is a great book for the beginner or experienced wanting to know about Pilates and eating clean. I think its a nice concise guide. There are pictures and explanations on how to do the moves. Nothing will beat Cassey's YouTube videos, but this is nice when you don't want to use technology or would rather read something and go at your own pace. There are recipes (which I am excited to try out!) and she tells you what foods are in season for each season of the year. It's very helpful and I have lots of little post it notes throughout the book marking recipes to try and some of my favorite exercise moves. Cassey also has words of encouragement throughout the book which is something I think we all need from time to time :)

Definitely recommend this book!

Hello reiders! It is summer time and that means reading and eating delicious food! Yet, we also got to keep not only our imaginations active but our bodies as well! This is the perfect time to read Cassey Ho's book, Hot Body Year Round. Reiders, it's seriously the best fitness book out there! It's written with love by Cassey Ho, Blogilates.com fitness guru, who has placed encouragement notes secretly within the pages of her book, simple but effective workouts, plus fun and delectable recipes for reader's to use to help find their happy place with their body. Don't wait for next year for that hot body, get it now!

My Thoughts

Yes! I just want to start off by saying that I love Cassey Ho and her Pop Pilates Youtube videos. They are so fun that you literally forget that you are working out (until you are reminded from the crazy intense burning sensation that your legs or other body parts are feeling from the workouts). Cassey is the type of instructor you want. She is encouraging, fun and wants people to achieve their full potential and I totally see that personality throughout the book that she made.

The quailty of the book is top notch. It's glossy pages and beautiful color scheme make it exciting just to read! This whole purpose of this book is to Plan, Eat Clean, And Live Happy in Every Season. So what I really liked was that for every season there was a list of foods that were in season for grocery shopping, and new meals for each season. This book almost feels like Cassey Ho is holding your hand and encouraging you on this walk to happiness with one's self. From the detailed notes to the helpful tips Cassey did not cut corners when it came to creating this book for her fellow blogilates followers, or just a new person picking up this book from Target.

I loved the recipes! They were soooo good! Plus, the workouts were so easy to understand and I just loved the extra detail of the different backgrounds that she chose for each season. For spring, she was pictured doing the exercises in a field of flowers, for summer she was on a beach, etc. This book is just loaded with fun, creative ideas that make it pop and come to life! It makes me excited to work out and cook healthy meals that are good for my body. She even has special guidelines for beginners and lays out meal plans for those just beginning this new lifestyle.

I also love how she ends each season with an encouraging specialized letter to the reader. It just shows how much she cares about the individual using her book. Cassey Ho clearly wants people to succeed and I think she has provided the right amount of tools to enable people to find strength to be the person they want to be. In other words we're learning to Train like Beast, Look like a Beauty.

A killer workout wrapped in a shiny, happy attitude.

If you've never done Pilates, you probably think it looks pretty easy. You are wrong. Even the simplest movements will leave your abs in agony for hours (sometimes days), and the hard movements are downright impossible, even for people who have a lot of experience with other exercise routines. In other words, Pilates is designed to kick your ass in the most graceful way possible, which is perhaps why I like it.

This particular contribution to the body of books on Pilates contains four ass-kicking workouts, one for each season, designed to keep you fit and healthy all year long. It's a nice organizing principle, and the photographs are really gorgeous, involving Ho demonstrating moves against backdrops of seasonal beauty. Modifications for beginners are given, and believe me, you are going to need them. As I worked my way through this book, there were a lot of exercises I simply couldn't do. However, Ho is so encouraging and cheerful, I felt motivated to get better and be able to do them eventually, as opposed to discouraged and ready for a pint of Ben & Jerry's.

The diet Ho promotes is never called "vegan," but that's pretty much what it is. There's also not a lot of gluten in it, and the emphasis is on fresh, seasonal whole foods, so that pretty much lines up with what's in right now (Whole 30 practitioners, this is your book, too). There are several motivational essays that, while very sweet, do not give more than the most basic of advice. However, Ho is sincere, and seems genuinely kind, somebody you'd want to be friends with, which makes you more than willing to go along for the ride, put aside your cynicism for five seconds, and just believe.

If you work through the book and love it, there are tons of resources for you to explore, including Ho's YouTube channel, app, and blog/website. This is a great book to have in the Rs if you serve a clientele where Pilates is popular; because of the difficulty level, it's an optional purchase everywhere else. Seriously, though, check out -- or ILL -- this book one time and see what you think. You will be swearing by the time you're done, but I guarantee you will also feel pretty damn good about yourself. Possibly even graceful, even if you're built more like Marilyn Monroe than Twiggy. Recommended.

I'm not normally one for buying books written by YouTubers, but I've been a fan of Cassey Ho and Blogilates for a few years now and I just had to check out her book Hot Body Year Round and support her.

Cassey has such a lovely bubbly personality on-screen, and I love her videos. Although watching them seems simple, her routines are very often rather challenging and I have noticed after a break from her videos how I've lost a lot of the strength and flexibility I once had regularly doing her videos. So in my opinion, they work! This book brings together Cassey's wonderful workouts with tasty, healthy recipes that focus on the key fruits and vegetables of each season, along with little notes here and there that promote body-confidence and self-awareness.

I think I will get a lot of use out of this book. Sometimes I can't really be bothered turning on my laptop to do a specific video, so whenever I'm feeling in a rut, I can get this book out and choose one of the many workouts provided here. Each move is explained very well, with lots of visual aids in the form of the beautiful photographs taken for the book. I also like that from having watched her video about the book before its release, I know the stories behind a lot of the shoots which sounded pretty stressful to say the least!

All in all, this book really embodies Cassey Ho as a trainer and a person. She is encouraging, playful, and she has put a lot of effort into this book, from the workouts right down to the example weekly meal plans. Whether you choose to follow these to a tee is up to you. All I know is this was a great investment, and I'm looking forward to incorporating it into my fitness lifestyle!

I was SO stoked for the opportunity to receive Cassey Ho’s book from Blogging for Books. I’ve been following Ho since my sophomore year of college (five years?!) and can attribute many sore muscles to her (deceivingly) happy, upbeat workouts. Though I lean more toward lifting now, I definitely turn to Ho’s pilates workouts when I’m on vacation or need a good core workout.

This book did not disappoint! It comes with meal plans and recipes, too, which I love. It’s all broken into seasons to boot. Shamrock shakes in Spring, summer salad with avocado dressing in Summer, coconut power balls in Fall, microwave minute pumpkin muffin in Winter…the recipes look delicious. I can’t wait to try the gingerbread fonuts.

The book also details workout routines for each season as well, which target all muscle groups. I did the Spring Restore the Core workout and my abs were on fire. Seriously, whoever said that home workouts were tough haven’t tried Cassey’s workouts.

The book is laid out beautifully and colorfully. I did notice that some of the exercise instructions are a little bit confusing. Each set of photographs are taken in the setting of that season, which was nice.

This is a fabulous guide for someone who needs workouts while traveling, fans of POP Pilates, and those who are looking for a serious home routine and meal plan. Ho’s positive personality and enthusiasm is infectious—check out her YouTube channel to see! I rated Hot Body Year Round a 5/5.

I. Love. Cassey.

I found her videos a few years ago and even though I've only completed one calendar 100% (the beginner calendar), her enthusiasm and positiveness is just so contagious.

Her book is no different. It is filled with yummy looking recipes that encourage you to eat seasonally and a collection of workouts. I love the workouts because it looks like they are a bit shorter than her daily calendar requirements (something I haven't managed to get into my schedule yet - I'm working on it little by little!).

If you love Blogilates, you will love her book as well. Definitely recommend.

This is another book influenced by the Instagram aesthetic look, featuring an attractive young woman in a beautifully designed workout book with lots of photos taken outside. It's very much for young women and written in the "Hey, besties!" vernacular that was so popular for a while. This seems geared to those 35 and under, and that may be high on the age.

What I like about its contents is the seasonal approach. I love a seasonal approach to life. She breaks it down into moves and food.

This is a long overdue review, as I picked this book up in 2015 when it came out and used it in the early days of my fitness journey. As a graphic design major, the layout of this book is aesthetically pleasing. As a person with dietary restrictions, some of Cassey's recipes just aren't for me, but they're not bad suggestions! My journey was more about leaning down and correcting a spinal disorder than losing weight when I picked up this book, but it was a great tool during that journey.

Ironically, I found the peppy rah-rah you're stronger than you think, you can do this and it's going to change your life tone rather off-putting; and as much as I love books, for me this format just isn't a very effective tool for health/fitness goals. Plus, a lot of the information and advice here seems basic and/or generic. While it's nice that there are specific exercises (with photos) and recipes, I'd rather use YouTube or Google to find exactly what I'm looking for.

I found her intro and motivational advice the most useful. The exercises look fine, though after years of Pilates, I find her cutesy names for traditional moves slightly grating, but she offers a lot of variety on the traditional moves. The nutritional advice is pretty standard - eat fruits and veggies, shop the perimeter, avoid sugar & other additives - but her passion is fashion not nutrition.

Cassey Ho is that girl who is super stoked about every part of her life, even if it isn't perfect all the time. At the same time, she is super down to earth and it doesn't feel superficial. She has a great attitude and has no problem telling her about the struggles she has had in her life and how a positive attitude and a dream got her to where she is now. She has a great voice that really shines through without seeming like she just wants to sell you something. She is empowering and kind, motivating but not pushy.
The book is broken into 4 sections, one per season. In each section is a workout guide with a gorgeous background that changes with the seasons, a few recipes using produce that will be in season and a meal guide to help you figure out what you should be doing. I love that there is wiggle room and room to make it work for you. This isn't a rigid crash diet to get you results for one day. This is truly about living the best life you can while being as healthy as you can.
The book begins with a great background on pilates and Cassey Ho herself. If you watch her videos online or go to her website, you might have heard it before as well, but it is nice to be able to read about her struggles and see that her big dreams have panned out through a lot of tears and a lot of hard work.
The tone of this book is friendly but not fake. It is interesting and factual and the recipes have foods that you would be able to find in your normal grocery store. There are breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks and desserts and beautiful pictures for each one. The workout photos are clear, easy to figure out what is going on, and well described. This book looks like a lot of thought went into it and it really shows well.
The pictures are not too big where it feels like you have bought a picture book, but they are big enough to be able to see what is actually going on. There are notes from Cassey for each section about overcoming the different parts of a workout journey and on life. It feels more like friends chatting about their lives than a teacher teaching you about life and what not to do.
Overall, the book comes off as professional but not stingy, fun but not over the top and well thought out. It doesn't feel like she is trying to get you to buy into something. She does mention her workout plans and website, but all of those are free and available on Youtube. There are no special products, no specific clothes, no places to give her more money. The book is written by a woman with a passion to help others cultivate a better and healthier lives for themselves.
If you have been wondering if it is any good, definitely check it out. This book is packed positive energy, yummy looking eats and is well planned so it doesn't feel super overwhelming.

I don't usually buy fitness books since I prefer videos when it comes to that sort of thing, but I have been following Cassey's workouts for a while now and I wanted to have something portable that I could take on trips and use when I don't have access to Wifi (and the wealth of youtube fitness videos I use to workout every day).

The workouts: There are dozens of workouts in the book, tailored to each season (like for spring, workouts to help get your body ready for swimsuit season!). I appreciate that there are so many different moves in here (probably upwards of 100) because in order to keep from plateauing you need to change things up regularly. The book has enough different moves to allow for that.

All the moves are described in a way that is easy to understand, and are accompanied by photos that clearly demonstrate the move. Added bonus: pictures are taken in areas with beautiful scenery, such as the Salt Flats (for winter) and a flower filled field (for spring).

The Recipes: I will actually be trying some of these, because many of them look like they would be tasty. The fact that they are healthy is definitely a bonus! All are accompanied by pictures and clear instructions. A good way to incorporate some healthy meals into your diet.

The eating plan: The book includes eating plans for each season, but I won't be following them. They may work for some people, but not me. I have a rule about not following any sort of diet, and instead eating in moderation and making sure to eat plenty of fruits and veggies in general.

The colors: I love how colorful it is. Ok, I know, I sound five, but it really does make a difference. When it comes to stuff like this I want to see colors. Pretty colors make me happy, so it makes reading the book more fun. And more likely to pull the book out and actually DO workouts when what I really want to do is be a couch potato!

Inspirational notes: Scattered through the book are inspirational notes and letters to the reader to read when you may be feeling bad about something or another on your fitness journey. I thought this was a nice touch and it personalizes the book.

Overall I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a good resource book for Pilates workout moves that is also super pretty to look at!

I'm so glad that Cassey wrote this book, besides me loving to read, it was great to see some stuff she talked about written out on paper, including the recipes. I've been following Cassey now for a little over two months, and the third week in March I decided to start doing her workouts, besides doing one and not doing anymore for a week and a half. Cassey is so energetic and positive that it becomes contagious. This is like a POP Pilates Bible and it's amazing.

I already knew Cassey story from a video she had posted on her YouTube and I have to say that I'm very proud of her and I hope one day I could be like her. I admit I didn't know anything about how Pilates started, so that was great to read about as well. Her encouraging notes that she haves throughout the book really resonates with me and made me feel that I can keep on going when I wanted to quite. She said things inside that I was never told and it made me emotional. This review could be me praising Cassey on how great of a person she is but I will try not to do that.

Okay, the cover is beautiful and the back cover; I really like the colors and the font, it demands your attention. The pictures inside though, are breathtaking, I can't really decide which season I love more. I did do some of those moves and I hurted so good. After you are shown the moves, you get a list of what vegetables and fruits that are in season along with recipes (which I will try out soon). At the end of each season, there's an encouraging note from Cassey. This was my first health/workout book that made it seem like you were talking to a friend who changed their lives; that makes you feel like you can too.

There's very little medical terms in here so it was easy for me to understand and not feeling like I need to look up every other word to figure out what the author is talking about, so that was a big plus for me.

I do hope Cassey comes out with another book, maybe a cookbook or one of those encouraging notebooks/journals, because she's so aspiring and positive that I want to hear more about how to change myself into a new me. Cassey is a beautiful person and I always looked forward to doing her workouts everyday.

I followed Cassey Ho's blogilates program for several years and taking a good hard look at myself, I pushed aside the workouts that forcefully overexert muscles to build them up. Summarily, Blogilates spells out firm muscles, if you choose to stick with her for more than half a year.

The book features an opening life story/author's foreword, seasonal menu + diet plan, workouts with pictures/reps/directions.
First, the workouts. from former participation, I'd say it's your pick: follow along with Cassey as she'll talk about her nails and happily push you[r muscles] or halfheartedly work out because you're in your room with this book on the ground. Music playing in the background is optional.

Next, the diet plan and the recipes. Either you're cheap enough to not buy stevia or turkey or you just don't want to lose the immense flavors that you loved from original recipes. The recipes are all about substituting foods because... calories and less fat. Yeah, I know how you think, girl. Just watch her Cheap Clean Eats on YouTube instead and maybe you'll like watching her chop onions rather than eating Turkey Lettuce Rolls. The recipes revolve around carbs and protein, to a smaller extent.
The diet plan.... if you got time and can afford the time to portion everything and be coherent to a strict week or month of eating off whatever Cassey's written.

Cassey Ho is not a certified dietician or nutritionist, last I checked. I love hearing fitness advice from others, as well as giving out some myself, but it's all heard before. Drink 8-9 cups of water, stretch if you're sore, hmm.. if you don't feel like working out, pop in a rocking jam and dance or workout to that beat!

Finally, the only legitimate reading anybody should get done with is Cassey's opening notes: her journey. Narrated from a more personal standpoint, Ho discusses her parents' disapproval of her pursuit to be a fashion designer, the honor it was to see her oGorgeous gymbag in Shape mag, how an unedited ten minute youtube video got requests for more, more, more, more.

I'm proud of Cassey for reaching her dreams of being a fashion designer and being an inspirational success. The book is not the only asset that's ringing up $$, though. If you don't want the book, why not buy an oGorgeous bag?

Okay, so here's the thing. There are good things in this book. Don't be an idiot with your food, eat fresh, (or in her terms, "eat clean"...) HOWEVER. She espouses quack explanations for why women "crave sweets"... *Sigh* Had potential, but relaying misinformation to people who want to become more fit and healthy is extremely aggravating to me.
