From Cindy Miles, bestselling new adult author of STUPID GIRL, comes the next installment of her blockbuster Stupid in Love series – STUPID BOY.
Brax Jenkins and Olivia Beaumont are the most envied couple at Winston University—but the so-called “virginity dare,” orchestrated by Brax’s old fraternity, almost tore them apart. Now, a new dare is taking shape, and it’s sure to set emotions ablaze--more than ever before.
Winston’s “It Girl” Harper Belle isn’t just president of the Deltas--she’s also a master at keeping her ugly past a secret. So, when the Kappas’ dare hits closer to home for her more than anyone realizes, she devises a competition of her own as payback. Three sorority sisters will seek out a notorious womanizer on campus and--unbeknownst their “mark”--secretly train him to be the perfect boyfriend. Always up for a challenge, Harper targets the biggest player she can find: Brax’s wickedly handsome foster brother Kane McCarthy.
But, Harper discovers there’s much more to Kane than girls, games, and partying. His easy smile belies the quiet, old soul reflected in his deep brown eyes. All it takes is one night, one secret laid bare, and one kiss from Kane to shift Harper’s world on its axis. Suddenly, the girl who’s always walked a straight and narrow path can’t think of anything else except losing control.
Cindy Miles is the best-selling author of twelve novels, one anthology and three short stories. She also writes as Elle Jasper, and grew up on the salt marshes of the Vernon River in Savannah, Georgia.
The big question -- did I like it? Yes .. but. The dreaded but. What?
The GOOD: 1 -- I liked the characters well enough. They didn't have the same degree of charm for me as did Brax and Olivia, but they were good.
2 -- The back story for both Harper and Kane was better than the actual story between these two. The story opens reflecting on a defining moment in each of their early childhood. It grabbed me and kept me wondering. I wanted to see these little ones find their happily ever. I think this is what pulled me through this story. Not the actual story of their beginning, middle together relationship, but each of them as children.
3 -- Brax and Olivia actually had a bit of a role in this one. I wanted more of them and less of Harper and Kane. Not good.
4 -- The title is a good one. It doesn't mean quite what you'd think.
5 -- The cover ties with the first book more than this book really, but I still liked it.
Now, the BAD: 1 -- As sincere and as charming as the first book [Stupid Girl] was, this book had none of those qualities. The early or back story for each character was heartfelt and unique, but nothing else. I thought the story of the DARE, cheesy and cheap comparatively. They deserved so much more.
2 -- The book felt rushed or incomplete in places throughout the book. The characters were not terribly developed. The story had elements that lacked depth and sincerity. I wasn't pulled by the story and can say I was never really engaged.
3 -- I didn't like Harper. I didn't quite know what to make of her. I didn't like her English friend, I couldn't figure out what Kane saw in her, I couldn't feel what Brax and Olivia felt about her. Nothing.
4 -- The sexy times weren't. I would rather a writer give us nothing than to give us what Harper and Kane had to endure. It was so unemotional and robotic. Very stilted and I just wish she hadn't.
5 -- When this goes on sale, it will be $4.
I do like this author. I don't know what happened between her debut book and this one. She lost some of her mojo or maybe she tried too hard. Not sure, but I do think she has talent. Serious talent.
You know .. I've seen this same thing out of a favorite author of mine. She started writing for a specific readership and lost the flow. Forgot to write the story with feeling and started writing with a filter. That can't be good and how hard would that be on the creative process? Maybe this is what happened?
I hope you give this author a try. Maybe not this book, but Stupid Girl is worth a go.
Happy Reading!

3 Stupid Dare Stars! Let me just say that I loved Stupid Girl the first book in this series. This book I didn't love as much. It was a slow start and then it seemed like it was a fast ending that left me still wondering about a few things. Harper is a broken girl that puts up a mask to hide behind. Nobody gets close to her because she will not allow it. She's fake to everyone. She can not take a risk and put her guard down. She's afraid someone will find out about her past. She's been through hell and it still is haunting her. Then one day a guy asks for directions and after she tells him where to go they just stare at each other. Later she finds out his name is Kane and he's Brax's foster brother. Kane is broken also. He's been through hell. When he looks at Harper he instantly knows that she is like him.
“I feel that there’s something hiding inside of you,” he said gently. “And that someone else put it there.”
He knows that she's hiding something and he is determined to find out what it is. Harper and her sorority girls come up with a dare to get back at the boys. I felt the dare that Harper came up with to get back at the boys was lame. I really didn't see how that was going to get revenge on them. Of course her pick was Kane. I liked Kane and Harper. I loved how they stared at each other. Kane was intense.
“I hadn’t counted on you, Harper Belle,” he said quietly. “You came out of nowhere.”
But for some reason these two just didn't wow me like Brax and Olivia did. Over all I just liked this one. Hopefully in the next one we will get some more of Kane and Harper. I defiantly will still be checking out Stupid Love when it's released:)

**This book can be read as standalone but it is highly recommended that you read the first book to fully enjoy the book since the first couple from the previous book are part of this installment**
Stupid Boy was one of those reads that surprised me. I found myself enjoying this book quite a bit since it chronicles two people who have secrets and a horrible past. For some the past can be a painful reminder of all the burden and dark times in your life. It can be reminder of regrets and what ifs. And Cindy Miles did an amazing job showcasing and highlighting two broken characters, who found light and hope within each other.
There was nothing stupid about this book since Ms. Miles wrote a book that showed humanity, vulnerability, and sacrifices. We should never judge a book by its cover and Ms. Miles highlighted that when she introduced us to Harper Belle and Kane McCarthy. On the outside, Kane would look like your typical bad boy. He was the guy who looked like trouble but what others don't see is the REAL Kane. The one who sacrificed his education, took beatings from an abusive father, and a young man doing all he can in order to help someone he loves. Harper Belle is the complete opposite of Kane when it comes to looking presentable. Harper is the sorority president of her chapter, the good prim and proper lady. But what others don't realize is that its just all a facade. Monsters and nightmares haunt Harper everyday of her life. It continues to plague and torment her. So can two broken people find the love to help them escape their past? Can they fall stupidly in love?
Stupid Boy was the first book that I have read from this author and it won't be my last. I think what pulled me into this book was that Harper and Kane were two flawed individuals who were just seeking love, comfort and someone to accept the burdens of their past. Stupid Boy is a reminder that hope never fails and love truly heals. Cindy Miles

I have to admit, I do not remember all of the events that took place in Stupid Girl as I had borrowed a friend’s kindle reader to read it, but I had remembered that I’d loved it enough to want more from this series.
As luck would have it, Cindy Miles had granted my prayer.
Stupid Boy takes place right after SG. While Brax and Olivia are still very much involved throughout, it was like déjà vu with a new fresh target and dare taking place but with another out of the box, emotional twist on it.
I really enjoyed this second installment as it ensues the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover,” but instead refers to a person as you shouldn’t just assume things about people.
I felt that this applied to both protagonists, Harper and Kane, as it was fun to see how their story and chemistry turned out with such prejudices placed upon the each of them while battling insecurities, disgruntled pasts, and other external forces.
So over all, a great follow up and I can’t wait for more!

I was very exited to read this book since I absolutely loved Stupid Girl. (You can read my review here.) But unfortunately, I didn't fall in love with this book. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it because I did but it failed to create a lasting effect on me. By the way, in Stupid Girl, White Horse was playing in my mind, here it was Let It Go! :-P And although this book can be read as a standalone, I recommend you read book one first.
In Stupid Boy, the Delta sisters headed by Harper Belle plan to put a final stop to the dares by the Kappas by giving them a taste of their own medicine. They plan for a complete bad boy makeover and for that Harper chooses Kane McCarthy, Brax's brother as her victim. But as they get to know each other, Harper learns about his wounded past and realises that they are both broken. But Harper is reluctant to let Kane see her inner demons. But when the truth comes out, will they give each other another chance or will they drown in their nightmares and be lost forever? (Really, I have no talent on how to write a blurb, I totally suck!)
Once again, I have to tell that the plot was clichéd, it was pretty similar to that of book 1 just with different pasts. But unlike in book 1, I didn't feel that much sympathy for the characters, it didn't tug me at my heart. I was told that the characters suffered in this way and honestly, I felt really bad for them but that was it. I couldn't wholeheartedly connect with them. Though I did enjoy the romance between them but it escalated too quickly. I liked the romantic aspect most in Stupid Girl, half of the book Brax and Olivia were simply friends and slowly their relationship developed, and here, one moment she was complaining about him of stalking and the next she was telling him her secrets and kissing him. Really not done! I guess my expectation went up a bit, okay I know it went above's the sky's limit but still I was very upset that it didn't meet my expectation.
Harper and Kane both had a bitter past which scarred them for life. They both lived in an abusive environment. But from the blurb, I thought Harper was going to be an ice queen, instead she was the complete opposite. I liked her but I definitely would have enjoyed it more if she maintained a cold hard exterior and Kane would've work hard to break her false facade. (Never mind my tini tiny expectations were crushed!). Kane was different as well, he was calm and gentle, completely opposite to that of Brax but I loved his persistent nature. I just wanted more time so that characters and the plot could develop but things just wrapped up a bit too quickly for my taste.
Overall, Stupid Boy was an okay read. I enjoyed it, just didn't quite fall in love with it. The plot was clichéd and the I couldn't connect much with the characters though I liked the romance between Kane and Harper but I wanted more depth in the plot. The writing style was simple and smooth, I enjoyed the flow of the dialogues. And the pace was even throughout the book, neither too slow nor too fast. Although this book didn't quite meet my expectation, I'm pretty excited to read the next book in this series.
Stupid Boy is the second book in author Cindy Miles Stupid in Love series. It’s the companion novel to Stupid Girl and each book can be read as a standalone. However since I loved BOTH books I’d not suggest skipping either one.
This time around we have a chance to get to know two characters that are both broken in their own ways and hide their secrets down buried deep from everyone. Harper Belle is president of the Delta sorority and all around good girl. She doesn’t let anyone get too close, wears her perfection like a second skin. She questions everyone and everything and every move she makes is in fear.
Kane McCarthy is a bad boy through in through. He’s the quiet brooding type but has no problem speaking up and his mind when needed. He sees something in Harper, something that reminds him of himself and wants nothing more than to figure her out. See what makes her tick.
The issues these two are dealing with from their pasts have bled through into their present and both feel they have no way of escaping other than doing the best they can with the cards they were dealt. They are just hiding so much, not dealing with anything yet looking for something or someone to save them.
Author – Miles – has written some wonderfully damaged souls. And the issues they’re dealing with are far from easy. You have no choice but to root for them from the beginning all the while your heart breaks again and again while we read flash back scenes as these two characters remember the past while trying to work through the present.
My emotions ran high while reading. I had some strong emotions of hate and sadness for what these two have gone through and those that have hurt them. You want them to see the good in people. You want them to see the good in themselves. You want them to heal and find something to fight for in themselves and in each other.
Another thing about this author is her writing is easy to read. The stories flow and rarely is there any type of lull to remove readers from her characters and their lives. I enjoy a good story with impressive characters to tell it and Miles gives readers both of those things and then some.
A highlight for me to was seeing and having a chance to check in with Brax and Olivia from the first book. It’s always nice when a companion novel checks in with characters from previous books and Miles made sure these two were present in this new journey.
In the end I loved this book. It’s not perfect but it’s pretty great. It has so much to give readers and fans of contemporary stories with damaged characters. Not to mention it’s in one of my favorite categories’ – “New Adult”. I highly recommend this book and the first for readers looking for something that’ll bring out strong emotions from beginning to end and leave you wanting more. I know I’m looking forward to seeing what this author brings us next and I am without a doubt hoping it’ll be more within this series and group of characters. Happy Reading!

The first part of the series Stupid Girl was a huge surprise for me. I found it accidentally and slowly it fought itself up to my favorite shelf. But this second part… unfortunately it was a huge disappointment for me.
The main character of the book is Harper Belle, who seems to be perfect. She is the leader of the Deltas, she always has a perfect appearance, she has perfect grades but no one knows her truly and no one knows her secrets. One day she meets with a boy on the Winston University’s campus when while he asks for direction. It turns out that he is Kane McCarthy, the baseball star Brax Jenkins’s brother (Brax was the main character in the first book) and he and Kane were together in foster care. Kane has a lot of messy business and he is the typical hot, heartbreaker guy who is better to stay away from.
Harper is really mad for the boys of Kappa, because of their dares which are humiliating the girls, so she decides that the Delta girls will do a revenge-dare for them. The task is that the girls has to chose a Kappa connected “bad-guy” and “reform” them. Harper’s choice is Kane McCarty because he is the boy who she just can’t get out of her mind.
The first part of the series grabbed me from the very beginning maybe because every one of the characters found their way to my heart. I really loved the main characters, the family members, even the roommate. Although there were secrets and pain, it was absolutely not the most important part of the book. There was not so much misery, it was more sweet and funny. But this book was like it made a 180° turn and it returned to the dozen categories. It was like every other book what you can buy in the market nowadays with a less likeable heroine, traumatized main characters, and really-really lot struggle and agony.
Actually I found the character of Kane and the best friend, Murphy pretty great but the whole book seemed a little undeveloped and there wasn’t so much plot twist like the first part of the series, either. Luckily the author could made the level of Stupid Girl with the third book again (I will bring my review of Stupid Love on November 23th within a Blog Tour) so after the disappointment of this book, I became besties with Cindy Miles once again. :))
I was captivated in Stupid Girl, the first book in this series. And now I'm totally in love with a not-so-stupid boy in this installment. Kane McCarthy is Brax's brother (Brax was our hero in Stupid Girl). Kane arrives on Winston University's campus carrying burdens too cruel to imagine. He asks directions from a pretty girl passing by, never knowing that in that instant change is in the air. Harper Bell carries some deep dark and terrible secrets of her own. And wouldn't you know it, there's a dare that stands between this couple, too.
My heart broke for both Kane and Harper. I loved them both and wanted nothing more than peace for each of them. Both of them were so strong and unselfish while trying to withstand all the burdens they carried alone. Once again, I highly recommend both books in the "Stupid In Love" series.
And I understand there is to be a third book but no release date has been announced. This reader will definitely be downloading it as soon as it's available.

I had the opportunity to read Stupid Girl (the first book in this series) and loved it so I was so excited to have the opportunity to read Stupid Boy. This is a series, but a series of stand alone (so far). However, if you have read Stupid Girl, some of our favorite characters are back in this book.
Stupid Boy is Harper's story. Harper Belle is president of the Deltas, and she is ticked off. She is sick of the boys of Kappa and their hurtful dare's. So she decides revenge is in order. Harper creates a dare within the sorority to "reform" a Kappa or Kappa connected guy. With the dare in full swing Harper sets out to find her bad guy in need of reformation. In her search she stumbles across Brax's brother Kane. Kane is the quintessential bad boy. Plus there is just something about him she can't resist. However, as these things do.... the dare and the plan back fire.
I really like Harper's character. She seems to have the perfect life. She comes from money, has the perfect clothes, perfect grades, everything about her seems to be perfect. Except it is all a front. The girl who is under the perfect exterior is damaged, afraid, and broken.
Kane grew up in foster care. He is also broken but has started to mend. He is intelligent, kind, beautiful, and tough. However he is trapped in a life of crime and has no way of escape. Everyone has the wrong idea about him, because he can never tell anyone the truth, not even Brax.
I loved Brax and Olivia's story, but I must admit I like Harper and Kane's even more. I love their connection (even if it was kind of instant). While reading the story I could feel the pull between these two broken people. I love that Harper finds her strength, and her back bone. I love that she isn't instantly healed, that we get to see the process of Harper growing and becoming stronger.
What I didn't like as much about this book was the whole aspect of the dare. I understand wanting to keep with the theme of the first book, but the premise of the dare was so minor... and annoying I think it took away from the amazing story of Harper and Kane.
Over all this was a very quick and captivating read and I can't wait to read the next one!
Cindy Miles has been on my radar ever since I read Stupid Girl. One book by her and she made my auto-buy list. Stupid Boy was just as amazing.
Harper looks like the classic spoiled rich girl on the exterior. She's got the pristine clothes and luxury car to prove it. But there's so much more to her story.
Kane is a bad boy with a tragic upbringing, and Harper wants nothing more than to teach him a lesson. It starts with a dare, but nothing will be the same once these two collide.
I loved this book. I loved that the author took her time with this story. There was a gradual build up to the romance. It wasn't forced or rushed. Which made Harper and Kane very believable as a couple and also very relatable. Stupid Boy was rich and complex and I was completely enamored with these characters.
Stupid Boy is the second book in the Stupid in Love series. It can be read as a standalone but the couple from the first book make quite a few appearances and would probably be best enjoyed after reading Stupid Girl. ~ Erin, 4.5 stars
Psychological violence can leave permanent damage on the person. Its scars are deep and invisible and they are so hard to mend. Harper Bell has those scars.
Stupid Boy is a fast paced story but do not be fooled by that, this is not an easy read. It is full of dark memories of violence and abuse. What makes this violence even more brutal is that both characters, Harper and Kane, were subjected to it at a very young age. Reading those scenes made me cry, made me sad, made me angry. But this is also a story full of hope and there is a big chance that both of them will heal one day.
This had a lot of elements that I like, but it sort of fell flat.
I liked Harper and Kane well enough. There were some serious clichés, but their moments together were good. Sadly, it was pretty much everything else I didn't care for. The back story for both of them was a bit over the top for me.
I did keep reading. I was entertained enough to see how it all played out. The ending was predicable, but satisfying. I will not be reading any more of the series.
**Hugs thanks to TKA and NetGalley for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review**
I read the first book Stupid Girl which I loved. This time though I found it much more difficult to get into the story. I wasn't feeling the connection between Brax and Olivia. She especially just seemed too closed off. I know both of the two leads had horrendous back stories, and at times it seemed a bit like misery loves company. It was okay but not as good as the first book in the series. ARC courtesy of the author via NetGalley
This is the second book in the “Stupid in Love” Series by Cindy Miles. A lot of times authors tell you that books can be read as a stand-alone even if they are a part of a series, but I’ve been burned with that before and felt completely lost by not reading the previous books. So, me being me, I had to read “Stupid Girl” before reading this book. Although it helped to read the first book, it wasn’t necessary in order to follow Stupid Boy. This was a really good read told from the POV of Harper and Kane but primarily Harper. I connected with the characters right away and I liked it way more than I thought I would. It was one of those books where once I finished it I was felt like “Wow that was really good, I feel fulfilled and satisfied.”
Looks can be deceiving and Harper Belle is living proof of this. She’s the girl with it all; wealth, looks, and status as the president of her college’s Delta Sorority and one very big secret. Fresh off the heels of the most recent Kappa “dare” to steal an innocent victim’s virginity, Harper thinks someone should teach bad-boy players a lesson. Harper takes it upon herself to be the one to orchestrate this lesson. She and two of her sorority sisters will each find a player and whip him into the perfect boyfriend. Harper has set her sights on Kane McCarthy whose foster brother was involved in last year’s “Kappa Dare”. The deeper Harper becomes involved with the dare the more she realizes that Kane isn’t exactly the bad-boy or player she thought he was and that like her, Kane has his own dark secrets.
Both Harper and Kane have people who truly care about them and who recognize that there is something dark beneath the surface for each of them, they just need to be a little more trusting of people; which for me was the underlying them…trust.
Right off the bat, I didn’t like Harper. Even though she suffered a horrendous childhood at the hands of her very “Flowers in the Attic” type grandmother, I felt bad for her but I didn’t like her. She was far too critical and hypocritical for me; like during her first date with Kane.
“Trust is a powerful gift that I bestow very, very lightly Kane McCarthy. If I were to give it to anyone, though,” I thought more. "It'd go to Olivia Beaumont. Which is why I’m here with you now. She seems to trust you.” That was a partial truth. The other reason was of course to gain footage with Kane on the Dare.
Hypocrisy at its best Harper, you dare to talk about trust to Kane, yet you’re on a date with him to satisfy a dare. Ugh, completely ticked me off.
Kane runs numbers, it’s his thing, it’s how he makes his money and he’s good at it and he’s shown up at the Kappa house to help a few frat boys reduce their bank accounts. This is one of the things Harper sets out to reform him from. Try as she might, she’s not likely to get Kane to back off of the numbers game. Aside from being good at it, it’s a NECESSITY for him; he has good reason for doing what he does and not even his foster brother, Brax, is privy to this reason.
I couldn’t help but smile at her rant. It was a justifiable one. And I’d heard similar from Brax, just the other day. If either of them knew why I actually did what I did, maybe they wouldn’t judge me so harshly. I rubbed my jaw, felt the unshaven stubble there that had grown back since I’d shaved earlier. “I have my reasons, Harper.” “I see,” she said, and sat ram-rod stiff. “Well, I suppose you wouldn’t need all those benefits in prison.”
I sat up then. No, I didn’t want to go to prison. I wouldn’t, either, because as soon as I was finished at Winston, I’d hit the road and be on my way. “I’m not going to prison,” I said with a light laugh that sounded acerbic in the night air. “Ever.” I pulled one knee up, rested my forearm against it, and she watched my movements as closely as I did hers. “But your concern for my retirement and future is…touching.” She cocked her head. “How is it you on one hand run illegal bets, but on the other secretly wish to be a police officer?”
My mind went there, due to her prodding probably. “Scumbags fill the world, Harper. Not the kind like me, who run numbers for money. I’m talking about the ones who hurt people.” I stared at her, almost willing her to see the truth without actually having to say it out loud, confess it to her. That was a first for me. “The ones who need to pay for their crimes in the worst possible way.”
And that’s one of the times when my heart just goes out to Kane because you know he’s seen and experienced some of the worse things possible in life. But Kane’s not alone, he’s brother more than has his back. Kane just has to let him and let him in.
“Think about it,” Brax said. “Think about quitting the numbers, okay? Before you get in over your hard f#*kin’ head.” He walked to me, draped an arm over my shoulder. “I love you, man. I don’t want to see you get hurt. Or Harper.” I wished I could tell him. How I’d managed to keep it from him all these years, I didn’t know.
Don’t get me wrong. Harper has definitely seen and experienced her fair share of darkness but she’s so hell bent on hiding it that she almost seems to project her fear on others around her. She really doesn’t want to be judgemental but that’s how she comes across. No one knows that while her family is wealthy she eats one meal per day to save money. She survives basically on soup and fruit. As much as she annoys me I do feel for her when deep down she wants to have close friends but she just can’t make herself trust anyone enough.
Harper never counted on falling for Kane, but eventually she does and comes to the realization (as expected) that the dare may not have been the best idea. Another thing Harper never counted on was Kane’s ability to see right through her or pick up on the fact that Harper has her own secrets and that she’s not quite the persona she appears to be. He repeatedly tells her and of course this makes Harper very nervous.
“I feel that there’s something hiding inside of you,” he said gently. “And that someone else put it there.” I could do nothing but look at him, breathless. His alabaster skin, void of all blemishes—just those long, long eyelashes and coffee colored eyes. “I aim to set it free, Harper,” he said, then kissed me again. I exhaled, and he swallowed it in, drew me into him, and for once in my life I wished to God he really, truly could. Rescue me.
Kane wasn’t the only one who could see there was more to Harper Belle that meets the eye. The closest thing to a best friend Harper has is her sorority sister Murphy. Murphy drops subtle hints that if she needs to talk she’ll be there for her. As well as Brax’s girlfriend, Olivia, who sees a kindred spirit in Harper. Even Kane’s brother Brax sees it.
“I’m serious, Kane,” Brax said. “Something’s off with her. I’ve felt it ever since I first met her.” He looked at me. “I think she’s been through some serious shit. She doesn’t need you making things worse.” I nodded, pushed out a sigh. “I recognize it, too. And I fuckin’ hate it.”
I feel like Kane was much more forthcoming with his information than Harper (which is why she comes across as a hypocrite to me). I’m going to stop here because I don’t want to give too much away. Although you will come to conclusions and figure things out well before the end of the book it’s so worth the ride of actually discovering them.
Oh yeah, my favorite line in the book comes from Kane:
“I hadn’t counted on you, Harper Belle,” he said quietly. “You came out of nowhere.”
Why is it my favorite? Because that line right there sums of both Kane and Harper.
This is a tough one for me. Stupid girl, while poorly titled, was my favorite book of this year so far. I loved every page. Stupid Boy, not so much. There were definitely parts I liked (particularly the last few chapters) but overall, it was kind of meh. I think my biggest problem was that the characters lacked depth. Though both of the main characters had horribly traumatic events happen to them during their childhoods, I found myself apathetic to their experiences. I think this is because I didn't know exactly what happened until the end. I get that the author was trying to add an element of mystery, but it just didn't work for me. Not to mention, the plot of the book (the dare) was mostly an afterthought. I honestly kept forgetting about it. Every time it was brought up, I was like "oh, yeah, the dare!" BUT... The ending was really good. If the rest of the book could have been more like it, Stupid Boy could have been a 5 star book. Everything I wanted to happen did, and I found myself finishing Stupid Boy with a feeling of satisfaction. I will definitely be reading the third book. I mean, I've come this far, right?
Harper's been playing a part for as long as she can remember, and to everyone around her, she comes across as nearly perfect. So when she suggests what she thinks will be an essentially harmless but pointed revenge on the cruelly mischievous fraternity across the street, her sorority sisters are quick to go along with it. But her chosen bad boy to be reformed isn't what she expected, and before she knows it, she wants no part in any scheming that has him in the center. He seems to get her and get to her like no one else, and while she's never really known any kind of happiness, when she's around Kane, that light and fluttery feeling keeps rearing its head. But Kane's got things to hide as well, and no matter what Harper had originally planned for him, she soon finds they have more in common than she ever expected.
But... It was certainly better than the previous book in the series, but this one still had some editing issues that jumped out at me. Instead of the weird misspellings, though, these were more along the lines of mixing up homonyms (rein/reign, riff/rift) and other things that your basic spell-check program doesn't always catch, so really all that's needed is a good line editor, and it'd be just about perfect.
Oh, and while I'm at it… Why did the detective show up? He had info on Harper's parents' case, but she apparently never followed up on it, so what was the point? It's like someone decided to cut out a scene or two and forgot to delete his appearance.
The Verdict: While I had some issues with the first book in the series, none were really with the story itself, so I figured I'd give this one a shot. It was a lot heavier on the angst and past abuse angle than I expected, but it still turned out to be a pretty great read.
Harper has had an absolutely awful life. After the cops found her hiding in a cabinet days after her druggie parents were murdered, she was sent to live with her grandmother, a woman who was the very definition of evil. Harper was provided for on a rather luxurious scale, but the psychological abuse left invisible scars, and she's spent most of her life in guilt and fear. She puts on a brave face at college, letting everyone think she's the perfect student, perfect sorority president, and all around perfect girl. But she has only one real friend, and she hides her past in shame, always fearful that her grandmother will take away what little happiness she's managed to grab onto.
Harper's sorority is incensed by the antics of the frat across the street, the same frat that hurt Brax's girlfriend Olivia and has since claimed another victim. In retaliation, Harper proposes that their sorority pull their own dare, but because they're not into humiliating anyone, they go with picking three bad boys associated with the frat and reforming them. And that's where Kane comes in.
Kane's past is just as ugly, though in a completely different way. Horribly abused as a child, he was put into foster care when his father was sent to prison, and that's where he met Brax. All grown up and responsible for himself and the sister he tried to protect so many years ago, Kane's found his way to campus, and while Brax isn't happy about Kane's illegal gambling business, he hasn't turned him away. Kane is incredibly perceptive, seeing something in Harper that tells him she's not perfect; she's broken like he is. Brax apparently sees the same thing, but he simply gives her space and looks out for her. Kane, however, is drawn to her, and even though he knows his time in Texas is only temporary, he can't stay away.
Their romance is incredibly sweet, and I love that Kane isn't your typical white knight. He's just as damaged as she is, except he's a bit more in control of his life, whereas Harper's still reacting to the damage her grandmother has inflicted. But he's patient and kind, and they're able to trust each other with a few of their secrets. Harper's growing feelings for Kane lead her to call off the dare, but things like that never do quite go away, do they?
I sort of expected the dare to be a main component of the story, but aside from initially bringing Harper and Kane together and later causing a rift, there was a lot more to the book than Greek life mischief. Harper was so closed off from everything and everyone that she didn't win me over very quickly, but given her background, her behavior made sense. She wasn't living; she was existing in survival mode, and it took someone who had an equally terrible past to bring her to life. The distancing she did made the chemistry between her and Kane feel a bit rushed, but I think I just loved Kane enough to buy into it. And fortunately, the angst wasn't pushed too far toward the end; I think they'd both been through enough of that already, so the ways they reached out to each other even when it seemed things might be over were really great to read.
All in all, Stupid Boy is a really sweet love story, and while it can most definitely be read as a standalone, I would suggest reading Stupid Girl first, if for nothing else than to fall in love with Olivia and Brax.

~ 4 Reformed Stars ~
Kane and Harper were two college aged people who were inexplicably drawn to each other. One chance meeting, a lonely boy asking for directions, led them to each other. On the outside they were two completely opposite people, but truly they were more a like than either one could've guessed. Two broken souls just trying to find their place in the world.
Stupid Boy is the 2nd book in Cindy Miles Stupid in Love series. I guess you could say it is a companion novel to book 1 Stupid Girl. The two books are about two completely different couples, but Olivia and Brax do play a big part in this book too. This is NOT a continuation of Olivia and Brax's story, but a new story involving Kane (Brax's Foster Brother) and Harper.
Like in Stupid Girl, this book is based upon a "dare". Harper has this idea that she wants to get revenge and restitution for Olivia for what the Kappas did to her. The Kappas have this yearly tradition to come up with a "dare" and in turn, to humiliate some unsuspecting young girl. Well Harper has had enough and wants to get back at them. Which comes to her idea of three of her sorority sisters finding a "bad boy" and reforming him. Harper choose to be a part of the dare and her subject is Kane. Not knowing that she would eventually fall for him.
This book is so much more than a story about a dare and getting revenge. There was another storyline that played a part in Kane and Harper's story, that honestly I thought the dare actually took a back seat in this book and really didn't need to be a part of this book. I think this book could've been 5 stars for me had the dare aspect of the story not been there. The other plot was so much more intriguing and heartbreaking. This book was filled with so much emotion. I was laughing at one moment and then crying when I turned the page. I thought Cindy did a great job at connecting the reader to her characters. I truly felt sad for both Harper and Kane. What both of these characters went through was heartbreaking. What I loved watching was these two slowly grow to trust each other and fall in love. I felt the pace of their relationship was perfect and believable. I also thought the pace of the story was great…nowhere was there a time I thought the story dragged or that the information that was given was not needed. The questions that were created during the story were all answered by the end of the book. I am really hoping that Harper and Kane play a part in the next book, so we get to see them living their HEA.
I enjoyed seeing Brax and Olivia again in this book. It was nice seeing them being happy and together. I also liked their connection to Kane and the support they gave both Harper and Kane. I liked Murphy and I thought she was a perfect friend to Harper and a great secondary character, but I didn't get why the author made her english. Plus her english vocabulary came off as more Irish to me than English. I don't know, maybe it was just me and I am being picky, but I would've rather seen Murphy be from the states and just a snarky BFF. With that said, it didn't deter me from enjoying this book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the New Adult genre and a book that is based on a college campus. If you are looking for an emotional love story with two broken souls, who in the end find solace in each other, then this is the book for you.
Although this review does not contain spoilers, it may contain spoilers from Stupid Girl, which is, book one in the series!
We are back at Winston University fall semester, the Kappa’s have once again humiliated another girl thanks to their annual dare and the Deltas president Harper Belle has had enough and seeks revenge but coming up with their own dare – A Bad Boy Reformation. Three Deltas would select three “subjects” to reform from bad boy Kappa to a better man, leaving the Kappas short handed.
Harper Belle is the president of the Deltas. She is perceived as a rich snob and Miss Goody Good Two Shoes. But deep down she’s gone through hell, at a young age she witnessed her parents murder then she was forced to live with her grandmother Corinne Belle who is like the devil. She was a really evil old woman, who scared Harper terribly. She never allowed her to mourn her parents, burnt any pictures of her parents and changed Harper’s name to Belle so that she would be Belle. She must live up to the Belle name or her grandmother would have her locked up in an asylum.
Then there’s Kane (he is Brax’s, from Stupid Girl), big brother form foster care). He’s tall and has smoky brown eyes (we hear this repeatedly whenever Kane is mentioned) and is quiet compared to Brax. He is also very smart and runs numbers for the Kappas although he does not attend Winston. He is the perfect choice for the Delta dare so Harper selects him for her test subject.
Kane can see through Harper’s persona in public. He knows there is more to her then she’s letting on. He can see the same fear and demons he’s fighting in her. It’s what draws their connection. I liked seeing Harper’s walls come down every time she was around Kane because I felt like I was finally starting to get to know her. I wanted to know exactly what she had gone through so I could understand why she is the way she is.
However, with Kane he was truly quiet throughout the book. Some of his history was mentioned but not much of it and it left me wondering about his past. I also felt like I couldn’t connect with Kane because he was so quiet, I felt like the only thing I could really tell you about Kane were the color of his eyes because that’s mentioned a million times throughout the book. I wish there had been more dialogue or even more of his story so I could fully understand him and fall for him.
The story was a bit slow for me; I was skimming through pages because I found myself bored with the story. It seemed like parts of the story were missing and the ending was a bit abrupt for me. I wanted more of Kane’s voice. I liked Kane’s chapters a lot but I wish there was more of it. I wanted to get inside his brain and see how he felt about things. It would’ve made the story that much enjoyable. I liked Kane and Harper together; I thought they made a good couple because during the times they were together I could feel some of the connection they had. I also had questions about what happened with them that I’m hoping will be answered in Stupid Love. But to be truly honest, I’m not too sure how the title fit the story. I may have to re-read it to see how but I didn’t feel it deserved the title Stupid boy. It just wasn’t fitting for me.
I loved seeing Brax and Olivia throughout the book. I honestly thought Stupid Boy was Brax’s point of view of things with Olivia so I was bit disappointed to be honest but just seeing Brax and Olivia made the story better.
Would I recommend this? Sure, parts were enjoyable and the story has potential. I’m looking forward to Stupid Love just to see where this series is headed before I give it up on it completely.
I HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY ABOUT THIS BOOK I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START. Before I start I have to warn you about a few things! 1. sometimes when I'm excited i spoil things without meaning to, so it's best you don't read past the first few sentences. 2. when I'm excited i totally forget all of english so ignore my horrible spelling and grammar and punctuation because i need to just get it all out there. 3. im extremely extra in these reviews. like I'm very passionate about certain books. and this book is definitely one of them. OKAY TIME TO START. FIRST OF ALL. WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL. THIS WAS AWESOME! WHEN I FIRST STARTED READING THIS BOOK I WAS LIKE WTF AM I READING THE WRONG BOOK?! BECAUSE THERE WAS NO BRAX OR OLIVIA FOR LIKE THE FIRST FREAKING 5 CHAPTERS. I WAS SO SAD CUZ I THOUGHT I LOST BRAX OR OLIVIA FOREVER. SO, AT FIRST, I FREAKING HATED THIS BOOK BECAUSE IT WASN'T TRULY A SEQUEL. IT WAS JUST SOME NEXT 2 PEOPLE WITH HORRIBLE PASTS. IT WAS TOO REPETITIVE. I WAS READY TO GIVE IT 1 STARS.
BUT THEN IT HAPPENED. OH LORD IT HAPPENED. THIS BOOK JUST CHANGED SOOOOO FAST. IT WENT FROM THE WORST BOOK TO THE BEST BOOK EVER IN A MATTR OF 0.5 SECONDS. LIKE HONEST TO GOD THIS WAS SOME NEXT LEVEL OF PERFECTION!!!!!! I SLOWLY, BEGRUDGINGLY, STARTED LIKING THE CHARACTERS OF HARPER AND KANE. they were so unique. so different. so secretive. and i really wanted to figure out their secrets. i HAD to keep reading. THEn.... oh holy goodness. i found out kane was brax's bother! and they brought brax and olivia into the story. and then it became perfection. like they continued the story but made it more interesting because it's more about brax's family and another broken girl. and ohmygosh i honestly can't believe I'm saying this but i highkey like Kane better than Brax. He's more of guy of words.. less fists. he uses his brain! He follows his heart. he's a bad boy of the best sorts. he's everything I could ever want! Just pure utter perfection. reading about how he cares so much about his sister just warmed my heart. i honestly loved his caring side so much. AND HIS FATHER SICKENED ME. I WAS SO MAD. IT REMINDED ME OF TOBIAS FROM DIVERGENT. LIKE HIS POOR BACK. UGH. WHY U DO THIS TO ME. and Harper Belle. Ah that story was so sad. She's had a rough life man. loses her parents and her grandma 'saves' her only to end up being worse than the original monster. like i can't even. they lost themselves, but found themselves in each other <333333 it was so cute! so beautiful! goals goals goals. they were 2 broken pieces of the same puzzle! I just loved it. they broke down each other's walls and just perfectly united. OH MAN THIS WAS GOOD. IM NEVER GONNA FORGET THIS STORY. JUST DAMN. couldn't put it down. the character development was perfect. the harsh reality of life was eye opening, reminded me to count my blessings. reminded me of the beauty of love. asffegghjtgieinsf~~!!!!!!!! EVERYONE READ IT MAN!

'Stupid Boy' is the second book in a new adult series. After really liking the first one I was thrilled to read the second one. Unfortunately, for me it wasn't as great as the first one but it was a good read nevertheless.
This book is set shortly after the end of book 1. Brax and Olivia have become a quite famous couple because of their rough start between fraternities and dares. The story now focuses on another sorority, the Deltas. Their president, Harper, seems to be a mighty lucky girl having it all - coming from a rich family she has her life planed out. Despite her anxiousness when it comes to men and dating she proposes another dare - this time to snatch a bad boy away and turn him into a perfect boyfriend. Of course she has to go for one of the biggest challenges and lays her eyes on Brax' brother Kane.
It's quite funny to type a summary because it sounds like the book has hardly anything new to offer. To be honest, this was probably my biggest problem. Why center this story around a dare as well if you already used this theme in the first book? Why does it has to be another fraternity/sorority story? I believe there were a lot of chances to just leaves this out and maybe center the story around other topics.
I liked the characters a lot. Both Harper and Kane were well-written and even some of the minor characters turned out to be great. For the biggest part of the story it was easy to care about Harper because she seems to be going through a lot of common anxieties. Of course there was the typical part of the story when both main characters tried to win the trophy for 'worst-childhood-ever' but I still liked her story in the end. Although Kane was an interesting love interest I didn't liked him as much as Brax. Throughout the story I just wasn't that interested in him.
The setting was pretty much the same as in book 1 and I think it fits the story quite well. A few parts seemed to be rather random (or I just didn't understand them) - like the old lady in the park but I finished the book in one day meaning it was a real page-turner for me.
Despite not being that happy with this story as with book 1 I still would like to read more by the author as I find her books really entertaining. I would recommend this book to people interested in new adult stories centered around university and first love. Please stay away from the book if you're easily triggered by domestic violence and child abuse. It's graphic at times.
Cindy Miles has outdone herself with this book. It's my favorite so far in this series and my favorite out of all her books so far. Harper and Kane's story is beautiful and moving. They both appear to come from different walks of life, but painful pasts are something they both have in common, even if they don't know yet. Something Kane sees in Harper's eyes draws him to her. And what started off as a bet to teach a bad boy a lesson becomes so much more.
This story captured my interest from the very first page. I couldn't stop reading and even stayed up late to do so. I absolutely loved Harper and Kane. I have no idea how Harper managed to hold herself together for so long. Nothing she was blamed for as a child was her fault. I wanted to reach into the book and give Harper a hug and punish those who hurt her. Kane too. That boy was anything but what his tormentor accused him of being. Kane might have looked like a bad boy and done things that were illegal, but once I found out why he was doing them, I felt better. I knew he wasn't doing anything to purposely harm Brax his foster brother or Olivia and Harper. It also helped the story was told from both their view points.
As is usual in a story where a bet is taking place, there are often times when the story can be predicted. Cindy Miles kept this from happening by inserting twists I didn't see coming. The chemistry Harper and Kane had was wonderful. I liked how their attraction to one another was a slow burn. They might have first been attracted to each other physically, but once Kane realized Harper was fragile, I like how he attuned himself to her needs. He might have taken the reins of their dating, but in everything else he let her lead. I felt that was essential to their relationship getting to the point where they trusted one another with their secrets. I hated seeing them hurt.
Overall, I would've liked to see a few more issued be addressed. I would've liked to know what Harper's surprise visitor had to say to her. Especially since the visit started a chain of events that had a lasting effect on the story. I would've liked I also wouldn't have minded an epilogue to show how Harper and Kane were doing in the future, but since there's going to be another book in this series, hopefully there'll be glimpses of them in there. I can't wait to find out who the next book will feature and if I've already met them yet.

As the second book of Stupid in Love series, I didn't remember the detail of previous book. I only know that I didn't quite like it. But I still give a try to read this book because I don't like to not finish series I've started. I'm glad I did it because I think Harper and Kane's story is much better than Olivia and Brax's story.
It's as cliche as NA stories can go, but I enjoyed reading it in one sitting. The way Harper tells her story is engaging I couldn't stop reading it till I reached the last page. I think the main thing that makes me glue to the story, aside the way Harper tells the story, is Harper herself. I liked her enough to want to know her more. And it's easy to connect with her. I can feel her fear and anxiety clearly I feel sorry for her. I also liked Kane, he isn't a bad boy as everyone thinks, if you ask me. He doesn't use his punch easily either, unlike Brax, one of things I didn't quite like from Stupid Girl. Hence he doesn’t endanger Harper's life. For me, he seems more mature than any other characters in the series. That being said, I really liked the main characters, Harper and Kane. I also liked Harper's friend, Murphy. I hope the third book is about her and Josh.
However, I still have things I didn't quite like. For one thing, Harper, just like Olivia keeps mentioning Kane's accent way too often for my taste. It makes me see her as Olivia for a while, though the way Olivia mentioned it is more annoying because she makes it sounds like make fun of him. But still, I think it's better if Harper doesn't do it more than twice. It's Olivia thing, not Harper. I want Harper has something else, so that it doesn't sound a repetitive to me. And again, like Olivia, she says the same thing over and over, though thank goodness, not as often as Olivia does.
All in all, it has my like and dislike, but it's surely more enjoyable than book 1. I hope next book is even better than this book.
Straight laced Delta president, Harper Belle decides to seek revenge on the dare master Kappas by giving them a taste of their own medicine. Harper and the Deltas devise a dare of their own and decide to transform three bad boy Kappas into the perfect boyfriends.
When reformed bad boy Brax Jenkin's older brother blows into town, Harper zeroes in on him as the target for her dare. But when Kane McCarthy is able to read Harper like a book and see past the fake facade she portrays, prim and proper Harper realizes that Kane might be just what she needs to free her from the pain and guilt of her past.
I loved Stupid Girl and I had high expectations for this book but I just couldn't get into it. As bad as Harper and Kanes's past was, and as many times as we are reminded of it throughout the story, I really never connected with their characters. In fact, I almost didn't like Harper at all. While Brax and Olivia's struggles drew me into Stupid Boy, I just didn't feel the same connection to Harper and Kane. Other than the reader feeling sorry for them, and them feeling sorry for themselves, this book didn't have much more to offer.
The book started out with a bang, giving us a view of Harper and Kane's horrific pasts, but the characters didn't really develop much throughout the story. With all of the build up about the chemistry and attraction between Knae and Harper, the actual "act" between these two was a disappointing and swift scene. Also, when did Harper and Olivia becone friends?? It's a small point but it's something that bugged me all throughout this book. The only friend that Olivia had on campus was Tessa. There was no mention of Olivia, so their friendship and Brax's concern for Harper didn't make sense.
Having read the other books in this series, I was keen to read this one as well.
The prologue was a gripping way to start the story and grab the readers attention and the first chapter about Kane was also intense and attention grabbing.
The idea of another dare as payback for the Kappa's dare was an interesting one and I was immediately thinking how interesting it would be because it looked like playing out with Kane of course, and because of his relationship to Brax, and Brax and Olivia's history with the Kappa dare themselves.
It was fantastic to see Brax and Olivia re-appear in this story, they're great characters who I enjoy reading about.
I found Kane to be a great character overall, but Harper comes across as slightly weak at first. Once you get more of a look into her history and what she's been through in life, you realise she is really quite strong.
I did feel there was an unanswered question at the end about why the cop from her past came to visit her.
Harpers grandmother was pure evil. I mean, who does that to a kid? Seriously. That said though - Kane's father was pretty evil as well. Again, not something that should happen to a child.
I loved the story and watching Kane and Harper connect. I felt the ending was great for the them, perfect even. I definitely heard up a bit with the kindness that Harper did for Katy and Kane.
Overall I really enjoyed this one and would recommend for Cindy Miles fans.
She meant well, Harper Belle wanted to have the Kappas’ a taste of their own medicine. Only that she didn’t expect it would backfire on her when she chose Kane as her dare. He saw right through her façade. With all the perfection she exudes, there was so much more to her than what meets the eye. Miss Perfect has her own shares of nightmares, of insecurities and secrets.
There was a time I thought Brax has hidden some secret that would be no surprise at the end – but it didn’t come. What did, was something else entirely – it caught me off guard and made me saw him in a different light. He’s a bright kid and good with numbers, he has more to him than what he’s doing.
As they spend more time together, Harper realized that Kane wasn’t as bad as she thought. But what will happen when Kane would discover that he was part of the dare?
Both saw each other for what they truly are - broken. My heart goes out to both of them. Young as they are, they have endured a lot. They might have experienced it differently, but it scarred just the same. I don’t know how they managed to survive what they have been through if not for their amazing strength. This story, more than the to-swoon for romance tells a story about two characters whose strength withstood everything life threw at them.
If you enjoyed and liked Stupid Girl, I'm sure you'll love this one as well.

I really liked the first book in this new adult series, Stupid Girl. This book fell short of that for me. I still liked it okay and I'll still continue to read the series, but this book definitely didn't meet the standards of the first book, in my opinion.
So many times in life, we try to outdo ourselves and each other. And, that's where it seemed like this book fell flat to me. The hero and heroine had terrible horrible backgrounds and it seemed like they were created to one up every other new adult hero and heroine. At times, I was worried we were going to enter some VC Andrews territory with Harper's (heroine) past. And, the hero's (Kane) background, well, I've never read anything like it, but it really seemed over the top.
Also, this book was a little more insta-lovey than the first book. I would've liked to see some more interaction between the characters.
I still thought the book was okay and the highlights for me were seeing a peek into the lives of Olivia and Brax from the first book in the series. I still look forward to the next book.

Stupid Boy is the second book in Stupid in Love series by Cindy Miles. It tells the story of Kane (Brax's foster brother with painful past secrets) and Harper (a pefect from outside but with demons inside college girl). It all begins with a Dare but no one can see such consequences. The Dare that reveals past secrets, helps to surpress old demons and find the way to your true love.
"No. I just recognize myself in you...Fear is our common factor, Harper...Broken recognizes broken. It's also what sets us apart."(C)
It's the story that cannot leave you untouched. You can either love it or hate it but never something it between. The story of two damaged souls seeking their ways to healing. It's their bumpy way that touches your heart and makes you cry and smile.
"We were alike, she and I. We shared demons. We shared fears. We'd share the healing, too." (C)
I love this story and I recommend you to read it. Thank you, Cindy for letting me read it.
***I was gifted with an ARC of this book for my honest review*** Stupid Boy
I thought this book was very insteresting It dealt with much more deep rooted issues. Almost a little disturbing. But not enough to turn me away from the book i just had not read anything with such disfunctional issues within the characters. Overall it was a very enjoyable read and you couldn't help but root for the characters. I specially appreciated how they definitely took their time getting to know each other. Not enough books out there where they actually take time to seek each other and do things together just for the sake of courtship. Great read overall. Thank you for the opportunity. P.S. yes I have read Stupid Girl and its another great and amazing book and I look forward to Stupid Love!
