An essential resource for anyone who has ever been called “too sensitive”—gain a deeper understanding of the what, why, and how of your natural intuitive abilities
Do you struggle with small talk and prefer deep conversation? Are you extremely sensitive to other people's moods and feel exhausted after being in crowd? Do people describe you as highly perceptive?
If you've answered 'yes' to any of the above questions, you may be a Highly Intuitive Person—someone who is sensitive to the energies of others and experiences the world through the deeper senses. Also known as Intuitive-Sensitives and similar to Highly Sensitive People, Highly Intuitive People are said to make up 15-20% of the population. They are often described as being calm, caring, and extremely wise and 'knowing'.
Based on Heidi Sawyer's years of experience as an intuitive mentor, Highly Intuitive People provides a roadmap for anyone who wants to understand their natural intuitive abilities—how they got them, what they’re for, and how best to use them. Become one of the thousands of people who have benefited from Sawyer’s revolutionary techniques and become a happier, more empowered Intuitive-Sensitive.
It is not a great first book to read when you want to know more about and understand people with highly sensitive nervous system. Or at lest I found a better first one. Although it may not be easy to read for people with this treat and relate to this stuff, I would still suggest for the first to be Elaine N. Aron's "The Highly Sensitive People: How to Thrive When the World Overwhelms You". Just so you first learn to understand, cope and chill out. Then go on and try if you like to play with this sensitivity a bit - enjoy the fantastic little voices inside you telling how things are and so on. Intuition they call it. A gift, they said.
I did get some little new information from this book that was a great addition to the Elaine N. Aron's approach but really if someone just told me that "meditate and quiet your mind in order to improve the quality your intuitive insights" it would have done the same trick. And saved me the time of reading another book. Not that I was overly anxious to develop my intuition. But it had a paragraph also about fighting with it and how that gets you very confused. So I guess I still needed that book after all :)
This book is amazing. I'm so thankful to have found this book, it really helped me understand more about myself and feel good that I'm not the only one out there like this. Thank you so much for writing this book ❤️

No longer lost out at sea awaiting the next wave of confusion to come crashing down, here is a source of calming clarity written through the eyes of an insightful author. If you dare to take the plunge, you’ll certainly discover something that’ll broaden your mind! Anyone drawn towards the perplexingly intriguing and outlandish, will not be disappointed either way. For whether you subjectively correlate to that which runs deep (or not) doesn’t matter, as there is an element for everyone; even if mere appreciation. Retrospectively there is so much to take in that it can be hard to form a well-rounded opinion and summation with only reading once, hence this is a reference guide that you’ll continually draw from time and time again. Daring to do different never became more appropriate, as those readers to whom it connects on a deeper level just have to see and find out…

Undoubtedly written with great love and attention to true evidence, this logically comprehensive study provides practical advice for all intuitive-sensitive souls. Anyone seeking an illuminative and unforgettable reading experience will encounter just that, and so I wouldn’t hesitate in taking a look at a book that may surprise you!

The task must be made difficult, for only the difficult inspires the noble-hearted. ― The Journals of Kierkegaard
What a truly enlightening read. Although it took me some time to get thru it, I was surprised how much I needed to reflect on some of the author's topics. It also brought realization of who the right brain people are in my life.
I was so happy when I found this book on the shelf of a book shop and thinking “yes! Finally a book were I can find more insights about myself!” Unfortunately even if I could resonate with a lot of its descriptions, I have to give it only two stars. I admit it was hard to finish and really don’t like leaving a book while I’m reading it so decided to finish reading anyway. It is too repetitive and had to jump from line to line at times as the repetition was too excessive, some notions were like put there just to fill the page and at times was too much. It is ok but unfortunately it wasn’t that great book I was expecting
An exceptional book. The central idea is that those who pick up most acutely on how others think, in counterpart, feel their own identity to be more vulnerable and thus do not venture as far as they could. It describes my life as intuitive sensitive person. It's been great to realise and see that there is more people like me out there. It's been extremely practically helpful, inspiring and challenging.
I feel bad. I wanted to like this book. I really did. I consider myself something of an empath and rely on intuitive skills. But this book was not for me. It started out well. It had useful quotes from other researchers before it went off the rails somewhere in Woo-wooville. The personal experiences shared by the author were what pushed me over the edge into the dislike column. They were a bit too new-agey weird or far-fetched to feel completely credible. Maybe others will connect with this material and if so, I'm happy for them. It would just go to prove there's something out there for everyone.
This book offers some relevant information about Highly Sensitive People; however, the description of the intuitive aspect seems unrealistic in many chapters.
I related to some of what Heidi Sawyer wrote regarding highly intuitive people, however she exaggerates about her psychotherapy and psychic abilities. I got readings from her that were wrong. During some personal readings, I had with her, I felt her energy as overly invasive and negative. I found her quite dismissive and insensitive too. These difficult experiences with her lingered with me for some time. It felt like she was sending me psychic attacks following my feedback. Her style of healing/transformational work is not empowering as it keeps you in a victim loop because it overly focuses on negative childhood experiences. I know healing childhood trauma is important but it is important to treat the whole person. It is not my place to tell people not to join her group or to go to therapy instead. I found some of her courses somewhat helpful. However it is important to be aware that her services do not provide a comprehensive personal development approach. I noticed a change in her attitude over the years I engaged with her services. At first she was down-to-earth but over the years she became increasingly interested in notoriety. She boasts about the accuracy of her readings but loses focus on respectfulness. I advise caution.
I really wanted to read this book. unfortunately it fell short of my expectations. The author is suggesting that the majority of highly intuitive people are from emotionally/physically disfunctional families, hence a feeling of vulnerability and lack of confidence. I'm sure that is correct in a few cases, but this author is implying that this is the case 'of the mass majority'.
Secondly she is hinting that highly intuitive people are all some sort of downtrodden people who can't stick up for themselves and lack confidence. Again, yes, in some cases, but not all.
The author in the second part of the book then goes on to recommend how to move forward to deal with your lack of confidence and bringing the soul into line to give this sort of person a more sustainable way of life. I am in full agreement with all of this, but sadly she gave some examples of what to do, but they had not depth to them. They were a concept with no detail of how you might go on to achieve this status. I know it is an individual path for us all, and we all operate differently, but this book just did not go into depth and just left hints, which leave a big hole, and still a lot of people not knowing where to begin to help themselves.
I can't continue to read this book. I feel mislead by the authors so called 16 years of experience on the subject. This book tries to describe an intuitive sensitive in terms that are simultaneously too broad and too specific. It provides a cornucopia of criteria that contains things like color preferences (only pink, lilac, or white), addiction to chocolate, and a strong dislike of being criticized. The writing is rather self absorbed and the author continues to state her personal qualities I can't find any scientific approach to this book. I do not recommend it.
So many lessons here for those of us who are highly intuitive. Like so many I have questioned and sometimes resented being so intuitive. Heidi Sawyer understands and helps highly intuitive people accept themselves and learn to recognize the strengths inherent in sensitivity. I highly recommend this book to "ultra sensitive" souls.
Very informative book. I did lots of highlighting in this book, so there are many facts and tips I want to incorporate into my life journey as an Intuitive-Sensitive Person. Great book for people who do not understand a loved one who is Intuitive-Sensitive. I have also been enjoying Heidi Sawyer's free webinars and YouTube videos. Thank you Heidi!
I related to some of what she wrote regarding the traits of highly intuitive people, but most of it was pseudoscience at best, psychic/new age silliness at worst. I expected something more like Elaine Aron's "Highly Sensitive Person" , or Susan Cain's "Quiet", but was sadly disappointed.
This book annoyed me to no end, primarily because it is one massive pseudoscience-spirituality mix bag, attempting to blend some scientific findings with the author's personal interpretations and beliefs. The book frequently asserts speculative theories as fact, such as "energetic memory storage" and "carrier consciousness," which are more rooted in some kind of fantastical spirituality/mysticism than in science. This mix of anecdotal evidence and non-scientific concepts, presented assertively, may mislead readers who seek reliable, scientifically grounded information.
Moreover, the use of complex jargon from both neuroscience and spirituality often lacks clear explanations, making the text initially appear meaningful but ultimately revealing itself as convoluted, downright inaccessible and hard to follow. The author's confident tone, while perhaps intended to be persuasive, comes off as overreaching, especially when conclusions drawn from a combination of outdated scientific concepts, personal spiritual belief, and historical anecdotes lack rigorous validation.
For anyone interested in a more scientifically robust exploration of intuition and its effects on human behaviour, there are undoubtedly better resources out there backed by empirical findings. Unfortunately, this book leans too heavily on the author's "highly intuitive" leaps rather than on solid scientific research, which makes it hard to recommend. If you're looking for a credible and educational read on the subject, you might want to skip this one.
Great insight for what I feel is likely a small portion of the population. The advice seems a little scattered in nature, but perhaps I've become too accustomed to the "10 ways to _____" content of the modern day blog article. Really insightful and almost eerily relatable. I look forward to developing my intuitive self with the tools listed in Ms Sawyer's book.
I loved the first couple of chapters of this book and found that I could really relate to what the author described. However, after that things were hit or miss for me and sometimes the discussion went over my head a bit. That said, there were still some points I found interesting, relatable, and/or helpful that I'll hold on to!
Wanted to give it zero star but I can't do so if I want to write a review.
For the HSPs out there, please avoid wasting your time on this book because there are many other better and credible books (plus online articles) on high sensitivity.
I only read 83 pages and thought it was too airy fairy. I believe other HSPs and highly intuitive folks will find it a waste of time too
I felt relieved to have some things explained that I've been experiencing for years. The book is informative. The over use of metaphors felt a bit condescending. Yes, I appreciated the broad view of a subject matter not addressed enough.
It was like reading about myself. Someone who understood me as I am. Amazing book. Put alot of things into realisation of why things are the way they are. Fantastic book.
