A couple recipes in particular caught my eye (I have a total food-crush on Dan Souza) --- but I would say that the format just didn't jive with me. The majority of the book is structure in two columns, with recipes and photos overlapping on pages. When you have something that starts there, doesn't match with the photo, then you have to turn the page, it just made it tough to be engaged in the stories they were trying to tell.

This is more than a cookbook because it covers a lot of the science behind why a recipe works. Each recipe also comes with the narrative of the process of how the recipe was perfected. The actual format is not my favorite for a "recipe" book since the recipes often span several pages. However, there are a lot of recipes I would like to make (or have made for me). Lots of great tips on the best gadgets and brands of products they discovered through product and taste testing.
