Guard Your Secrets. Enter the Mists.

After learning that her father is an evil mage intent on exposing the magical realm, Cassy flees the elvish capital with the traitor who assassinated the Queen. Now on the run, Cassy is desperate to reach her father’s camp and find her best friend, Benji. But when her magical ring vanishes, she’s forced to hide her true allegiance, spying among the enemy forces.

As war threatens the newly crowned Dorian’s rule, Cassy discovers that her Singer’s magic may be the key to tipping the scales. Yet, with her closest friends fighting on opposing sides, each choice she makes carries the weight of potential betrayal.

Secrets swirl like mist among the trees, and Cassy must unravel the mystery of her ring, and of her own complicated feelings for Dorian and Benji, before her father steals the elvish throne.

The Whispering Woods is the second book of The Singers Series. A high adventure YA fantasy for younger readers, or those who are looking for a little whimsy in their next story.

The Whispering Woods - Kaelyn Hamm
YA high fantasy adventure.

The writing of Kaelyn is amazing. Once again a great story was written with creatures and scenarios beyond your imagination.

Cassy made me so angry in this book though. Her carelessness was too much for me to handle and I wanted to climb into the story and just shake her.
I am glad that we saw more of her power but I wish she could just listen and believe in herself more.

Dorian was crowned King and I enjoyed his development from the first book. I look forward to reading more about him and Conrad.

Benji. Benji. I don't even know what to say. He had me almost as furious as I was as Cassy. The mission to find his mom took a slight turn.

Star was again one of my favorite characters along with Mr. Worley.

I really enjoyed reading this book which was full of action, magic and adventure. I look forward to reading the next book in this series as this one ended on a slight cliffhanger again.

“The Whispering Woods” was an amazing read that really led up to the expectations that were set at the end of book one. This book kept me turning the page for more as the story unravelled and new characters and information came into play.

It has been really fun to get to know Cassy throughout the two books, but I will admit that she did get on some of my nerves in this one. Her carelessness about some things and the way she kept secrets to herself that she really shouldn’t have did annoy me sometimes but she did try to make up for them and fix it in the end.

I can’t wait to see more of Dorian next time and see Cassy and him hopefully (fingers crossed) fix whatever is going on between them. The ending with Benji has scared me and I am very nervous to see how it turns out. Xaviell makes me want to throw something (preferably AT him). I almost cried when Cassy had to leave her friends behind and I can proudly say that I am STILL not ok. I am so SO excited to see more dragons (maybe Galdring and Rashor’s sister 😏) and watch them find Conrad because I am a little bit desperate to know more about the ring.

Overall this was phenomenal read and I can’t wait for the next book!

This is an excellent YA novel! Cassy continues to grow into her magic. She tries to save Dorian and Benji who are on different sides. She becomes a spy for Dorian, sneaking away as often as she can. Will she get caught? It is very risky but she loves them both and will do whatever she can to keep them safe. There are two dragons under her father's thumb. There are secrets all around. It'll keep the reader on the edge of their seats in excitement and anticipation. I really enjoyed this book! I can't wait to read the next one. After that ending! Wow.

The second in this series (will there be a third?) and full of choices and the realization that family isn’t always those of your blood but can be those you choose to be family. Cassandra embarks on an adventure to discover more about how she came to be and there may be a dragon or two and a band of friends who become her staunch supporters. I am hoping there will be a third book as the ending left me needing to know what happens next!

This extraordinary YA fantasy journey continues to enthral in book two. Casey’s adventures continue as she grows into her magic and help her friends. Torn between Dorian and Benji, Cassy has many decisions to make as her father tries to steal the throne. It’s gripping, it’s exciting, it’s full of mystery and wonder, secrets and betrayal and once started, that was it for the rest of the day! It's an incredible read and I cannot wait to read more from this world.

This is a great book! I love the whole concept of the Soul Songs and tuning into the song within each person. Adventure, magical creatures, a little bit of mystery and this book will have you turning the pages quickly to see what happens next! Looking forward to the next book in the series to find out what happens next to Cassy!

Wow! Edge of the seat stuff - love the twists and turns. I love Benji so much and really hope things turn around for him.

Hope the final book is out soon so we can see what happens to the trio.

After almost three years since I read the first book, I was able to read the second book of the Singers series and loved it even more than the previous one. It continues the story of Cassy learning magic and trying to help her friends from the magical realm. There was a big twist at the end and more information about some characters was revealed. I greatly enjoyed this book from start to end and found myself wanting to keep reading, so it definitely held my attention!

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
