But when this man, known simply as King, suddenly disappears, Mia will discover she’s not home free. Because without King, she’s no longer safe from his ruthless, depraved, power-hungry social circle.

“Even if I could get away, I don’t know if I want to. I’ve fallen into his trap. He owns me.”

K:

King for a Day is book two in The King Trilogy by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. I thought book one was suspenseful but this one had me biting my nails, gasping, clutching anything nearby for support, and basically freaking out. So, in other words, I loved it.

shocked

King is missing. Mia has no idea where he is or even if he is still alive. One at a time, Mia finds clues that bring her closer to understanding King. And little by little, she puts the pieces together. Nothing is as she thought. Nothing at all!

He doesn't wear a suit very often, but if he did, this is what he'd look like;):

King has left several deals unfinished and in the 10 Club, if you don’t follow through on a deal, you lose all your property. That would include Mia and Mack. So Mia has less than twenty four hours to try to complete all of King’s deals. Basically she is playing King for a day.

high back leather chair:

This task, though she thought she had it all thought out, turns out to be much more complicated than she thought. She is double crossed at every turn. Mia knows her hours are running out. That she has very little time left until they come for her. Until her life will be over.

hourglass

“The only thing I knew for certain was that King was a complex creature, motivated by his suffering, driven toward one final goal, though I didn’t know what that was.”

The more Mia learns about King, the more her feelings change for him. Underneath that cold exterior, there is pain, lots of pain. Even with everything she has learned, though, she still has doubts as to whether she could ever really trust him.

“I’d begun to see that the line between good and bad was far more blurred than I’d ever imagined.”
“How far could I walk in King’s shoes before I was the person searching for salvation?”

This book is one non-stop nail biter. We learn so many truths in this book. Everything finally starts to make sense. But, King still wants that artifact, and even though Mia has seen flickers of goodness in him, he will do whatever it takes to get it. He gives Mia half truths and manipulates her into doing as he wishes.

Since the first book, Mia has gone through so much, and changed so much. She still struggles to accept all these new facts of life she never knew existed. But she has gotten so much tougher. And let me tell you, once she has had enough, once her emotional capacity is filled up, you best get out of the way. All that anger has to go somewhere and it most surely does.

So buckle your seat belts for this one because it’s one wild ride. Many truths are revealed, but there are still so many questions. And yes, there is a cliff hanger. But I am continuing right on to book three, King of Me, to see how Mia and King‘s story ends.

"I will never share you. I will never trade you. I will never leave you. You are mine, and I will not let you go.”

🎁 FREE King Trilogy Box Set on Amazon today (12/2020)! https://amzn.to/2I7smbG 🎁

A both thrilling and shocking race against time to find answers and solve problems walking in an inexplicable man’s shoes.

For Mia, filling King’s sexy shoes for 1.609 km was as enlightening as it was altering. By King’s own insistence she learns of his past and his nature.
“All along, he’d wanted me to see the truth, the evil, the horrors of his existence, so that I might understand and accept him anyway. Scars, beauty, pain, and all.”

But she is also under duress, pushed beyond her limits and faced with the fact that she can’t even trust her own blood much less a man like King who has an age old agenda. Mia is forced into a corner where she must make decisions and take action that undoubtedly change her.
“Where light once existed, only darkness reigned. Where hope once flourished, despair lived.”

Because full disclosure has never been in King’s nature. However, this alteration is not one sided. King is also affected by Mia’s bravery, kindness and hope.
“If I had not been so reluctant to believe you would see past my scars and pain, I would not have been so cold, so secretive. But I know you were brought to me for a reason.”

I genuinely enjoy Mimi’s writing style. This is a fast paced, action packed sequel that included just enough sexy
“The thought of him wanting me in such an absolute manner felt terrifying, yet at the same time, sparked a deep, dark satisfaction.”

And enough humor
“Am I dreaming?”
“No. Shall I pinch you?”

I nodded my head.
He reached down and pinched my arm.
“Ouch!” I yelped. “That really hurt.”

And sufficient conflicting emotions to leave you desperately wanting and waiting the next book.

NOTE: This series should be read in order. This book is the second in the series and will not be understood if read out of sequence. This is a paranormal book with a cliffhanger.

Mia finally got her brother back but King is now missing. The Ten Club (a club of deviant billionaires who have rules about how other members of the club help each other), has a leader named Vaughn who hates King and says that King owes him and ignored a summons. He lets Mia that know that if King doesn’t give him what is owed, then the club rules state that all of King’s possessions are transferred to the Ten Club. However, when King had tattooed his sign on Mia, that meant that Mia is one of his possessions and she knows that Vaughn wants her to cause her pain and kill her. She must find out what King owes and pay his debts so they can’t take all of his possessions.

Like the first book, this one was strange and full of the paranormal. King was a different kind of paranormal than any we have seen before. He has lived a very long time and is able to read people’s minds and see into their thoughts. It turns out that Mia is a seer and one of the last since King had cursed the seers long ago and most of them died out.

This audiobook was narrated via solo narration by Helen Wick. She did a good job and I like her voice which is soft and somewhat gravelly yet still feminine. Though I generally don’t like books narrated with only one narrator, this one wasn’t that bad.

“Because if I could dream of one thing for the rest of my days, it would be of you, the way you study me and wonder who or what I really am.” Why? “Because you never stop hoping. I can see it in your eyes, Mia. You never cease praying that I will turn out to be something other than I am. A monster.”

So this one starts two weeks after Mia last saw King and right at the end of the first book.
King has disappeared without a trace and Mia is seriously worried.
Following a trail that on the surface seems to have been engineered by King himself, Mia finds herself at King's residence and along with the help of King's right-hand men, Mack and Amo Mia set's out on a mission with there assistance to discover his ultimate fate or current whereabouts.
So this had a totally different vibe than its predecessor it was still just as addictive reading it just felt totally different.
We finally get to discover what seems to be at the heart of King with some serious answers to what he is and what is in his past.
It also feels like events here are being puppet-mastered by his hand and everything that occurs is for a reason that only he seems to have the answers to.
After King's help with her Mum and brother Mia also feels closer to her mysterious saviour and has a sense that she owes him for his past assistance combine this with also being attracted despite her fear to his darkness well Mia is now determined to help King in whatever way she can.
This really had so many twists and just when I thought I knew where this was actually heading this managed to flaw me with the final reveal, gobsmacked is the word.
I guess I should have expected it this is after all King we are dealing with.
My only slight criticism here is sometimes I do find that Mia herself can be a tad judgmental and I would have liked her to give King a break.
Out of the two King here is hands down my favourite character and I feel that sometimes Mia can be a tad harsh in her behaviour towards him.
Then she will turn around and give her brother a free pass just because he is family.
I am looking forward now to book three this series is fantastic and one I recommend highly.

Keeps Getting Better

This story just keeps getting better and better! With more of King's history revealed, Mia finds herself feeling more compassion for this haunted soul. Is he as evil as his actions would lead her to believe? Or is King a good guy that has been hardened by the events of his life?

Like the first book, this one will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew. I'm hooked. I'll be diving right into the third book in this trilogy to get those answers at last. There had better be some steamy love scenes in the final book because King and Mia have continued to dance around their attraction for two books now!

Better than the first!!!

I really, really enjoyed this second instalment of the trilogy. It went in an unexpected direction, King was NOT what I expected and I'm excited to read what is in store for Mia next.

Can't wait for the next book.
But do we really have to wait so long for third part?:( Not nice!

Just when I thought I had seen it all in King's, Pamfiloff ups the ante in King for a Day. The story continues where is stopped off in King's with Mia Turner looking for the enigmatic and frustratingly sexy, King who disappeared at the end of book 1. In King for a Day, Mia has to virtually become King to stop Vaughn and the 10 Club from taking everything King owns, including her. Mia's is up against the clock as he tries to be King and acquire the things that he said he would for his clients. Sadly fate works against Mia and people plot against her landing her squarely in Vaughn's clutches. While a "guest" at his island estate, Mia learns things about herself and about King that intrinsically alters her "good girl" persona by the time we get to the end of the story. The Mia at the end of the story is dark and bitter and hellbent on revenge. And, book three isn't due to come out until November so it will be agony not knowing what happens to the characters until then. Will King be able to change Mia's mind and win her heart? Will Mia accept her new reality and King as part of it? And what about that dang Artifact. Will it or does it even work at all? *Biting nails until November*

WOW

I love a book that keep you guessing. So many twists, turns and so much deception and pain. It started a little slow for me but I really enjoyed the story. I feel like the h is a little stupid at times but the story wouldn't work if she did listen.

Murder, mystery, ghosts and intrigue.

Mission accomplished. Mia's brother Justin has been found and is now safe and sound. Time for Mia to pay her debt to King - if only she could find him.

Biding her time, waiting for when King shows up, if he ever does, Mia is confronted by a member of 10 Club who informs her that King has outstanding contracts that need to be completed in the next 24 or he will be found to be in violation of Club rule 5. Violation of said rule will result in ALL of King's property being forfeit to the Club as compensation, including Mia.

Mia's only option to avoid landing in Vaughn's hands, a known sadistic psychopath, is to step up and fill in for King. That or resign herself to becoming a pawn in a long standing feud between King & Vaughn.

* * * *

Second in "The King Trilogy" which cannot be read as a stand alone as the series builds off previous book so content and ongoing series plot are dependent on knowing what all transpired in King's.

This story picks up where "King's" cliffhanger ending left off. I did appreciate that the author did reveal the secret of what paranormal being King was in this story as it was extremely frustrating for me. Why? It's one of my quirks that I like to look at characters to evaluate if they fit. Fit in terms of character development, world building configuration, back story, etc. It was difficult to look at those aspects when I had no idea who or what King was in the first place and his whole back story. Now I know. description

The author stepped up her game providing a much more polished cohesive story that flowed. The choppy individual scenes from the previous book are still pertinent but to a much lesser degree. Time line stamps did give me pause as the premise of this story is based on a 24 hour time line but I'm ok to depend on the author's accuracy for all that.

Regarding the romance between the main characters. Ok. The actual romance is more apparent but the ongoing tease for the readers (which is frustrating but I think I get why the author is drawing this whole thing out) continues to be borderline adult content and certainly doesn't give me, the reader, any warm fuzzies in regards to happy endings. lol.

Secondary characters. Some good. Some bad. Mack is stepping up, endearing me to the hope he gets a chance to be a main character sometime in the future.

I did want to jump in to address the 'dark' tag I used. Technically, the story and series to date aren't really dark per say. More a paranormal action adventure romantic thriller/mystery-suspense. There are isolated scenes that do cross over to the dark side of things though which is why I used that tag. For me, the dark elements had more a shock and awe with fade to black quality but not all readers have the same comfort level so ....

I did enjoy this book more than the previous but admit there are problematic issues that remain. The author once again left off with a teaser/mild cliffhanger ending but that ending had a sensible hook so that if I don't read any further into the series I'm good. I'm sure I will come back to this series at some future date but as the original promoted 3 book trilogy is now 5 books, I have time as I don't think the series is ended yet.

ps Goodreads, you tried to eat my review again but I learned. Ha!!!!!

"Why are you whispering?"

"Aren't you supposed to whisper when walking into potentially dangerous situations?"

"This isn't Scooby Doo."

When the last book left off, King has disappeared at the end and now Mia is desperate to find him. Not only is she worried somethings happened to him in the vicious hands of the demented Vaughn, but there's a new issue - if he doesn't fulfill his ends of Club 10 bargains within 24 hours, his warehouse of valuable items will be forfeit, including King's people as well. Mia will be turned over to Vaughn, who wants to do nothing less than rape and skin her alive in from a paying audience. Yes, really, bad people alert.

Obviously with the stakes so high, the pacing remains strong and tense. Mia and Mack must work together to solve the mystery of where King is, how to fulfill his strange deals on their own, and figure out the strange warehouse with all its secrets. Finally it is revealed WHAT King is, and it's not something I would have guessed either. I liked the explanation, but I'm not sure about what happens with Mia.

She's still a likable sort, even if she does get too shrill and a little annoying at the end. The trust factor was drug out a little too long. King is more likeable because we understand who he is, he's made his intentions of pursuing clear, and my heart does the whole melt factor where he's concerned now. I have a thing for ultra obsessed and confident men who think a woman they are into is the all and everything.

It's as good as the first - the plot is different, of course, but more comes to light and it's hard to put down. While being dark and twisted, it's addictive fun to read about this strange relationship. The ending didn't make me happy, but I'm hoping the third and final book in the trilogy resolves this.

Ohhhh Emmmm. Geeee.

So we finally found out the paranormal aspect to his book. Eep.

I really loved this just as much as the first book. We found out the back story to King as well.. and his true feeling for Mia. Oh and the scenes where he pops up in front of Mia. DAMMMMMN YUMMY

I just love the page count of these books as well. It's not skimping out on the story. Love the pace, the action, the plot, and the characters.

I can't wait for the finale in the trilogy. I need it. Now. PWWEEEESE!

WTH am I supposed to read now in the mean time? Major book hangover damnit.

OK wow, where do I begin? King has disappeared and Mia needs to find a way to fulfill all of his obligations with deals and trades through the 10 Club. If King doesn't make good on his trades he takes the risk of them taking possession of everything he owns, including Mack, Arno, and Mia! Mia tries her hardest to emulate King and deal with the psychopathic Club 10 members while also trying to find out what happened to him.

Güzeldi ya, sevdim. Sadece son %10'daki kızın bazı haklı olduğu şeyleri çok haksız şekillerde dile getirmesinden hoşlanmadım. :))

THIS REVIEW IS FOR "THE KING TRILOGY" .

Let me be honest. This series is not for everybody. I won't recommend this to my friends here in Goodreads because if I do, this book would be filled with 2-3 stars and all the criticism for technical stuff. But why the hell am I wasting my time doing a review for a 2.5 star book? Simple. I'm crazy.

One reason why I'm doing this review: CURIOSITY IS A BITCH
One reason why I keep on reading (and eventually finished the series) is because of being curious. That has always been my greatest downfall. One tiny unanswered question, one unturned leaf, one partially opened door and I'm a goner. On the King's, I was dying to know what King really is.

Is he a warlock?
A werewolf?
A vampire?
A human who dabbles in the dark magic?

None of the above.

Normally, I would have criticized Mia Turner for being such a lousy heroine.Let us also not forget, the Spanish shenanigan in this book. But really. I didn't mind those things because I was focused on King.

On the second book,King for a Day, I learned more about King. The guy is just a motherlode of secrets. But when I finally found out what ticks off King (he's a ghost )there's a bit of a cliffhanger and ( sigh ,)I keep on wondering about his past that I just have to read the last book even though the heroine is shitty.

King of Me. Finally. Case solved. The heroine is still disgusting though.

Just a piece of advice note reminder shit. Curiosity may kill the cat. But satisfaction brought it's life back

Okay, I'm powering through this trilogy pretty quickly. But it's such a good series and I have no idea what's going to happen next. So before I start Book 3, I want to talk about THIS one!

All the same characters, I'm just getting to know them a little better. I would say that this book COULD be read as a stand-alone. There's a couple of super brief recaps that sum up what happened in Book 1 really well. Book 1 was a seriously fun ride though so it would be a shame to read this book first, having missed Book 1. But it could be done and I think there would be minimal confusion.

At the start of this book, King is still missing and Mia has just entered the warehouse. So much stuff happens in this book that it's difficult to believe that most of it happens over a 24-hour period! As I was reading this book, I have to say that Mia is starting to really piss me off. This WHOLE thing is because her brother got his ass in some seriously deep shit. I'm talking Mariana Trench deep shit. And just when I think her brother is saved or is going to be fine, he fucks up again and the whole ordeal starts all over again. Listen, I'm not saying that her brother is a bad guy or even that he deserves all this crap. I'm just saying that he's an adult and he's making his own decisions. Mia gets her panties in a twist every single time she's reminded that King "owns" her or that he has some kind of control over her but then she's running to rescue her brother like he isn't his own person! Who knows what I would do if it was MY brother that I thought I could save? Would I get myself into trouble over and over again? Would I get myself kidnapped, raped, murdered? Make a deal with the devil? I have no idea. But I'm tired of Mia's shenanigans. She wants to help... No, she insists on helping but her way of helping is to get herself deeper into trouble, which then spreads to those around her. And then gets irate that King has the audacity to be pissy with her. I seriously hope she redeems herself in Book 3.

King is still mysterious but SO MUCH is revealed about him here. He reveals what he really is and I have to say that I was exceedingly disappointed. Mia is always thinking that he's the devil and I think I was sort of hoping he was! Not because I'm all "Yay Devil" but because he would be SO freaking powerful! Gah! Too cool! Obviously I won't tell you what King really is because the fun is in not knowing. King's back story was super cool. Mia was reading a journal of some kind that detailed a significant event in his life - really, it was what made him what he is today. Physically and emotionally/mentally. It was really interesting and I loved that portion of the book. I guess I just loved finding out more about King since all I've had to go on is Mia's wandering mind and the sparse, vague clues King doles out. Unfortunately, King isn't in this book very much since he's missing for a good portion of it. But eventually, he makes his presence known and it was fun. I'm STILL on the fence about him though! I hate him and I love him and I love feeling like that. I keep waiting for him to do something wonderful or something totally awful so that I'm forced to choose but he keeps riding that fence!

No Sexy Time again but tons of sensuality and making out, heavy petting stuff. At this point, I'm not reading this book for the sex though. I want to see how King and Mia and Mack and Vaughn all make it out of this drama!

Since this one ended on another cliffhanger, I'm about to start Book 3, King of Me, and I can't wait to see what happens. I really hope that Mia gets her head out of her ass and sees what King is really offering her. I hate to say it but I hope she writes off her dumb-ass, selfish-as-shit brother. Mia is one chick who really needs to break away from Mama's tit, cut the apron strings, whatever you want to call it. Family is absolutely important but no one in your family wants you to die for them. It's getting tiring watching Mia metaphorically throw herself into the volcano every time her brother gets a splinter. Actually, you know what? How about a drinking game? Every time Mia says her brother's name (Justin), YOU have to drink. I swear, you'll be shitfaced by chapter 10!

I tried, I really did. I saw this series on Amazon best seller forever, and I thought the previous book was fine, but when I tried to get through King for a day, it just didn't work out for me.

I got through 38% before it was a DNF for me.

I couldn't stand usually I could handle I go trooper through it, but not this time.

I got frustrated and annoyed with a lot of the plot. I just wanted more direction, more secrets uncovered and less running around in circles.

Again, it wasn't for me.

Can't wait til November when book three comes out to find out how the trilogy ends. Did not expect the twist that King is dead or that Kia would lose her brother towards the end. Hoping that Mia will see the truth and willingly give King his salvation because she cares and not for who own selfish reasons.

Oh good grief!!! Can we say TSTL?!?!?!? No, EXTREME TSTL!!! Seriously folks, this chick (Mia, the FMC) is beyond comprehension childish, stupid and pull-your-hair-out infuriating! Name a situation, any situation and she’ll screw it up just to show everyone she can. Ask her to act like a reasonable adult and she’ll throw a tantrum, stomp out and do exactly what will ruin any hope of logic - IN. EVERY. SITUATION. GAH!

Now I’m stuck. After two books (and the third already in my TBR pile) I do want to know how everything turns out but I just don’t know if I can stomach any more of this ridiculous idiocy from the “heroine” long enough to get there.

King and Mia

description

Just finished this one and I’m already sad that I’ll have to wait till the end of the year for the final book.

Shit on a shingle! What a crazy ride!

First of all, I’ve got to say that I love when the authors release two books at the same! It’s awesome and good play I might say. Now I feel like I’m in so deep with this story that I can’t let it go. I’ll have to wait till the end of the year to know how it’s going to end this journey.

Second of all, this second book is better than the first one by a long shot. I mean, the first was good. Back then, we were just scratching the surface of this story. Creating theories and trying to solve the puzzles. Lots of questions and not enough answers. But now we’ve got all of them. Who’s King, his secrets, his powers and everything behind the mysteries we saw in the first book.

Plus, I’ve got to say that the pace in this book is also much better. The author executed it very well I was hooked since the first page of the first book. Sure, I had some issues with some little things like Mia’s character. She’s annoying as hell. I lost my patience with her most of the times. I hope eventually, she gets better and stop asking so many stupid questions. But all in all I was just in it for the story and found myself completely absorbed. The twists and mysterious behind this story made it easy to fly through the pages.

This sequel begins right where the previous book ended. King is missing and Mia doesn’t have idea where he is. For two weeks, she keeps going to his office hoping that eventually he’ll come back, but he doesn’t. One day she finds a key of his warehouse and decides to go there to look for some clues about his whereabouts. While she’s there, Talia shows up and gives her a letter from the club 10 delivering King an ultimatum. He has 24 hours to uphold his deal with the others members, because if he doesn’t, the club will confiscated all his properties… including Mia, Mack and Arno. But neither Mia nor Mack knows what are these deals but they know that if they don’t find out and delivery it in time they’ll be lost.

In this journey Mia will experience how is to be in King’s shoes, his secrets and plans for their future, some new places, enemies, betrayals and like I said, lots of twists and turns.
The romance in this book also gets better! A lot better! While Mia is still confused about him, King is not hiding behind pretences anymore. He makes it clear that he cares a lot about her. Although King is missing for the most part of this book, Mia made up a version of him in her mind and they have some interesting conversations. I must say that I had a huge grin in my face.

“I want you, Mia. If you do not want me back, then I cannot force you. However, I will not share you with another.”

About the end, well
