Whether you're just a runner or just a swimmer or just a cyclist -- or you are truly looking into doing a triathlon which combines all three sports -- this book is a great reference for training, gear, and nutrition. The most important information I took away dealt with the specifics and reasons behind training practices specific to running but which, generally speaking, can be applied to about any performance sport. I think I now clearly understand all aspects of progressive training and recovery.

I bought this book when I first became interested in triathlons, and it is the perfect book for anyone who is new to the sport and has questions. It covers everything and answers any question you may have.

Really good overview triathlon book. Lots of details. I enjoyed the diet tips. Even though the book is a few years old, the material is still relevant for today.

Although helpful, I don’t feel like this book was full of new information. Excited to start training!

Great primer

For starters, to review, certainly can pickup good ideas and ways to make improvements. Want to keep handy to continually refer to.

This took me a while to get through - definitely meant to be read in chunks. However, it was a trove of valuable information.

I've been told there are better triathlon training books out there but this one seems to have met my needs. I was well organized and detailed. Though I'm sure a newer book or version of this one would have more up to date information and better detail based on more recent science and research. It was still good.

While this book will be a great resource if you're new to triathlon as a whole, if that's not the case and your knowledge is at least a 'medium' level, this is not the book for you.
The information in it is pretty broad, generic and there isn't a whole lot of programming and advanced info for training regimens and such.
Basically, the "Advanced Marathoning" of triathlon this is definitely not.
