The Last time Byron Constantine took a case from Her Majesty, he lost his memory. But even he knows not to refuse Queen Victoria.
When Mira Blayse agreed to be a personal secretary to an amnesiac detective, she never expected to be invited to Buckingham Palace. Yet here she is meeting with the Prime Minister. Assigned to protect the British Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire, the two don’t realize this assignment will lead to murder, espionage, and not one, but three mysteries.
Meanwhile, an unexpected encounter with a woman from his past leaves Byron reeling with flashbacks and new memories. But despite this miraculous recovery, he always forgets Mira.
This new development, family expectations, and the ever looming Order of Circe all threaten their unique partnership, the truth, and their lives. With Mira’s heart pulled every which way, can she accept that the man she loves will never remember her?
Natalie Brianne's love of writing might be traced back to an old Rainbow Macintosh Laptop she received for her 8th birthday. Perhaps it came from years of storytelling and the discipline of wonder. Or maybe, she was born to write and didn’t realize it until a book sprung out of her fingertips somewhere between a house in Pleasant Grove, Utah and a bus on its way to Edinburgh, Scotland.
She received her degree in Interdisciplinary Humanities from BYU. While she could have studied English or Creative Writing, she opted to learn more about culture, distant lands, and people in hopes of writing better stories. Much of her first book, Constantine Capers: The Pennington Perplexity was written when she lived at 27 Palace Court, London, walking the streets as if she were her characters.
While her interests in writing spread across genres, you can always expect her work to be imaginative, clean, and clever.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I read the first book and enjoyed it. This is a nice addition to the series with the main characters working together to protect a client who is an ambassador. They are also trying to solve who is behind the Corrupt Group Circe that is working behind the scenes. Byron still doesn't remember Mira each morning and this is troubling for the romance. It makes Mira question whether their love is real. I was not a fan of the side characters that have romantic attachments to both the main characters. The book ends on a cliff hanger. 3.5* Thank you, Book Sirens.
I couldn't put this book down! Not only the mystery had me hooked from the start, but also all the intricate details regarding Byron's past... And the love story. OH MY. Mira's doubts about being in love with someone who forgets her every single day, Byron trying so hard to remember her... I liked the movie 50 First Dates with Drew Barrymore but this was a thousand times better! Byron & Mira's journey is intriguing and beautiful at the same time.
Back in Book 1, I wondered how the author would deal with the main character's memory loss and make it believable that the heroine would "stay" in future books: well, she wrote it brilliantly. If you liked Miss Scarlet and The Duke (back when William and Eliza were still working together), if you like clever characters, a strong heroine, a beautiful slowburn, and a VERY original story, PICK UP THIS BOOK NOW!

This was a good book and I'd definitely recommend reading it with the caveat that there's a few (frankly annoying) chapters where the love triangle gets more emphasis than just about anything else. I've always found those to be pretty annoying. This time is no exception unfortunately. As skilled as this author usually is, she just couldn't pull it off. Love triangle aside this is a good one. So good in fact that I've read about a eighty to a hundred pages a night. And I'm planning to circle back to this one after a little while (and the first, excellent book) to see if I can't find any clues that tip off who the murderer is now that I know who it is. I'll be skipping the chapters with the strongest emphasis on the live triangle bit. This is a good book to be sure with the bulk of it being five star material like the previous one. Which is why it's so unfortunate that the love triangle drags it down to 3.5 stars, rounding up to four but there it is, I guess. Eagerly waiting for the next one though, I assure you, that cliffhanger is/was EXCELLENT.

Plot no spoilers: Mira, her brother Walker, and their uncle attend a house party. Much to her surprise her employer, detective Byron Constantine, is there, but he's introduced to her under another name. She must question whether it is wise to continue falling in love with this man with ongoing memory gaps, and who, she now discovers. is clearly living under an assumed name. Also in attendance is the attractive Alexander Durant who is decidedly attracted to Mira thereby creating a troublesome love triangle. By morning two gunshots are hear, a murder is committed, and the wrong man is accused. So begins the twists and turns of the plot.
Well…congratulations Ms. Brianne, you’ve got yourself a hooked reader.
Aspiring artist Mira finds herself helping detective Byron with his cases and acting as his memory. She loves the thrill and adventure this adds to her otherwise dull life. After working together and facing danger together, they start falling for each other but Mira is still struggling with the fact that Byron forgets her every day until he reads his journal. But there's little time for them to sort out feelings when there's an ambassador to protect and a murder to solve.
This book was so enjoyable. I mentioned in the review of book one in this series that I felt the author had potential and this book proved that true. So if you read book one and were on the fence about continuing, please do! And let me tell you why….
There are multiple mysteries going on that keep your mind working. There’s the mystery of the murder, Byron’s acquaintance who is somehow bringing his memories to the surface, of Byron’s strained relationship with his brother, Mira’s pursuer…lots of things to keep you intrigued as you try to figure out how all these pieces fit together and who is trustworthy and whose not.
Again, the premise of a detective with amnesia is intriguing and was pulled off well. Byron continues to solve cases despite the challenges his memory loss brings. Mira pushes past her shyness and shows incredible bravery and loyalty as well as her own intelligence in deductive reasoning. The romance is clean and sweet. There's little more angst in this one to build the tension and that made the relationship a little more realistic, but it's not overdone or not drawn out to the point of annoyance for the reader. Mira would probably never be able to do what she does in actual Victorian Era England, but if you don't mind suspending belief a bit it doesn't make the story any less enjoyable. Walker was also a fun addition as a side character that added a bit of humor to the story.
Much like book one, the ending ties up enough with the present story but still has a bit of a cliffhanger to keep you wanting more. No spoilers here but…GAH! The end had me simultaneously grinning and wanting to throw my kindle across the room realizing I have to wait for book 3 to get the rest of my questions (hopefully) answered. But I suppose that just means I get to enjoy more adventures with Byron and Mira.
Bottom Line: Fans of historical/Victorianesque era mystery, amnesia mysteries, and sweet romance should give this series a read!
Content: Clean. A couple kisses. No profanity. Mira sees someone who was murdered. Nothing graphic though there is some mention of blood. Mild peril.

Constantine Capers: Flashes of Memory by Natalie Brianne continues the story of Mira Blayse, secretary to the detective Byron Constantine, who has a short term memory loss that sees him forgetting what he did the previous day. He attempts to counteract it by writing down in a journal or in notes what is important for him to remember. This train is driven from the tracks, however, when he runs into a woman named Grace Trimbell and remembers her. Then he remembers other bits and pieces of his memory. He doesn’t even want to rely on the journal. The only problem is—he never remembers Mira.
I love that premise; it would be quite a gut punch to be forgotten when spending so much time around someone who professes to love you—you would have to start to doubt if it’s true and doubt yourself for your own feelings. So Mira’s turmoil and grief felt very real and I was invested in it.
Absolutely hated the love triangle, though. I get that it was necessary to show what Mira could have and for them to offer her opposite possibilities, but it was even faster than Constantine’s feelings for her. Mira fell SUPER quick for him, and after dealing with a woman who seduced a man and murdered him in the first book, she should have been a little more suspicious, in my opinion. I guess she’s just naive in that respect!
This book felt more solid with both the mystery (although I sussed it out pretty quickly, I enjoyed watching the pieces fall together) as well as the speed of it. I didn’t want to stop reading it once I got going! I’d give it 3.5 stars, easy. I’m excited to read the next instalment and see where it goes.

There is only one reason this is not a 5 star book, and that is because I read this book before the first book in the series, and I do not recommend that, if you think this series is for you, like it is for me, read the first book first. I loved the characters, especially Mira and Byron, but for similar and different reasons. I loved them because they wanted to live life their own ways, and not be boggled down with societies expectations. Byron's memory loss was a new spin on the "Sherlock Holmes detective" and it shows that there are still new ways to be inspired by classic characters. Byron did not want to be held back by his family, or hold them back. Mira wanted to be a "modern" woman and was strong enough to fight for what she believed in. I have already put all the current books in the series in my list for my next book buying session.

I was pretty eager to jump into the second installment in the series given how things were left in book one. Well, I was not disappointed, with 2 different investigations to solve the plot was really twisted and bustling with unexpected events.
The characters were well nuanced as in the previous book and we get to meet some new additions to the club.
I particularly liked Liza and I hope to get more of her in the following book.
What to say about the cliffhanger at the end? Hopefully the next chapter of this series will be published soon as I can't wait to get more details about this ploy!
I received an advance copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily, thanks to the author for it.
At this point of time, I am only continuing the series for Byron.
The writing is good, and a detective with amnesia, is a unique take, but there are several plot holes which I wish were rectified before publishing. ( I ignored similar plot holes in Book 1 to an extent but there are just too many to ignore)
How is it that such a great detective who notes down everything due to his amnesia forget about something Mira's uncle said. Also since they talked to all the witnesses, how was the fact missed again, and only brought up till the end of the book.
How is it that someone from Byron's past calls or tries to call him by another name and nobody questions? The plot hints at urgency, but there's no urgency shown by the pair. Everything is done "tomorrow" or "later".
I was also put out by how Mira and Byron never seem to communicate. Given that it was kinda insta love, the pair should talk and know about each other, but they just keep everything to themselves, so I am not really sure how their characters will grow in Book 3.
Even if I ignore everything else, I just cannot understand why the author introduced a love triangle in the book? First, the main characters don't know each other well, and then Mira gets entangled with someone she has no reason to trust? How could that person be a love interest? He has given Mira all the reasons to doubt her, and the character has serious stalky vibes, I just feel that whole plot line was a disservice to Mira's character.
While I totally understand that attraction happens, but isn't the romantic subplot all about Mira being able to accept that Byron may never remember her, and I wish we would have seen more of Mira's internal battle than a love triangle.
All the more, Mira never tells Byron anything about the love interest, which seems a bad move when you start a relationship, considering the end of the book.
I am hoping that Book 3 salvages their story and we see some kind of character development.
2.5 stars only for the unique plot and Byron's character.
I received an advance copy of the book and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A page-turner for sure, I couldn't put it down. The book does not lack for suspense, inquiry, and a bit of romance. Set in the late 1800's, it feels as if stepping into a time capsule, following along with Mira as she and Byron work together as the story unfolds. I always love a good "who-done'it", and this one will have you guessing throughout the book!
Natalie Brianne is a gifted author, on caliber with Agatha Christie. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and look forward to more!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Will he every remember her? Now first off you need to know this is a complete tale but has a cliffhanger too. I cannot wait for the next installment. Byron still cannot remember Mira and it is driving her nuts. Alexander will come into play and cause all sorts of problems. Circe is still going strong and because of them Byron and Mira will need to help clear someone very close to Mira. It is a super tangled web going all different ways right up to the end. Then comes the cliffhanger who wants to keep her alive and will they caught Alex? Excellent book, great characters, cool ending, and super set up for the next book. I highly recommend this one and the first one a first rate Victorian mystery. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.
This was the second book in the Constantine Capers series. We meet some new characters that add some complexity to the developing romance between Byron and Mira. We are also introduced to the brothers of both Mira and Byron. Byron's family heritage was unexpected. It was another fun mystery.
We pick up where we left off. In the last book, we were introduced to Circe, a powerful ring of criminals that are ruthless and will stop at nothing to gain power and control. The mystery element of the book was interesting and had several twists and turns that kept me turning those pages. In addition to the cases Byron and Mira are working on, another development is that Byron is beginning to recover pieces of his lost memory.
There was more focus on the romantic entanglements in this installment. Love was in the air for more than Byron and Mira. Mira's brother meets and becomes enchanted with a young lady, Miss Eliza Rinaldi as well as a couple of new characters that form multiple love triangles surrounding Byron and Mira. I did think there was a little too much introspection and focus on Mira's mixed feelings and emotions. I understand the complexity and difficulty of her situation, but I started becoming a little tired of the constant "battle" going on in her head and heart. That part could have been condensed a little.
The story was good, but there were a couple of plot holes that caught my notice. The biggest one was towards the end where things come to a head. When Byron and Mira return to the Sutherland estate, where the original crime took place, we discover that Circe had done nothing in weeks to remove evidence and clues that would lead to discovery. That seemed pretty sloppy for such a well oiled crime machine. These are little things that didn't prevent me from enjoying the book though, so I can overlook them easy enough. I suppose these kinds of mistakes are necessary for the plot to move forward.
Overall, another fun adventure. There was plenty of suspense, suspicion and excitement. There was also enough threads left to set up another book in the series. I will look forward to reading book three.

Flashes of Memory, the second book in Natalie Brianne’s Constantine Capers series, had me hooked from the first page.
Once again, we follow Mira as she assists Bryon with his cases, serving as both his right hand and memory. Despite the unconventional role for a woman of her time, Mira thrives on the excitement of solving crimes and values the time it allows her to spend with Bryon. Little did she expect that her role as his personal secretary would lead her to Buckingham Palace and an encounter with the Prime Minister. Their latest mission? Safeguard the British Ambassador by any means necessary so he can attend a critical meeting.
I wondered how the author would continue to weave Bryon’s memory loss into future books to keep Mira at his side, but she does so perfectly. As the suspense builds with another murder, espionage, and layered mysteries, Bryon encounters Grace Trimbell, a woman from his past who stirs old memories. Mira is distraught that he remembers her but surprisingly he never recalls Mira.
Meanwhile, Mira’s own feelings are tested when she meets Alexander Durant, who shows genuine interest in her. Torn between her complicated relationship with Bryon, who may never remember her, and her growing attraction to Alexander, Mira finds herself grappling with conflicting emotions. The tension and angst in these relationships feel authentic, reflecting the turmoil she’s experiencing.
This story is packed with engaging elements: we meet Mira’s twin brother Walker, her uncle, and Bryon’s brother, all of whom add depth to the plot. Circe remains an enduring force in the narrative, keeping me guessing about who might be protecting Mira. I have my suspicions and can’t wait to see if I’m right. While another mystery wraps up, the book ends on a cliffhanger, making me eager for Mira and Bryon’s next adventure—and to see where the feelings they have for each other leads.
If you’re a fan of Victorian mysteries with intrigue, complex emotions, and a dash of romance, give this series a try.

Flashes of Memory continues the partnership of amnesiac detective, Byron Constantine, and his secretary, Mira Blayse. After the successful conclusion of the Pennington Perplexity (book 1) and discovering the actual cause of her parents’ deaths, Mira decides to continue working with Byron. When her uncle is arrested for the murder of his business partner, Mira is even more determined to investigate. However, she struggles with her feelings toward Byron and trusting his feelings in return. Things are complicated after an encounter with a woman from his past trigger’s memories to start surfacing. He claims to love Mira, but he still can’t remember her without the journal. As Mira struggles with her frustration and jealousy, another man tries to pursue her. Is he really just a paid messenger for the Order of Circe or someone with more nefarious intentions?
While the first book primarily centered on Byron & Mira and the mystery, book 2 widens their circle. We meet Mira’s brother and learn more about Byron’s background and family. We also find out more about Circe and their goals. Mira is an engaging heroine, intelligent, loyal, and determined with a sense of justice. Due to her young age and fairly sheltered background, it is easy to see how she is manipulated by both her own emotions and outside forces. She is overjoyed when Byron’s memory starts returning even though she believes he may not love her.
Natalie Brianne has crafted another entertaining and complex mystery. Her slightly altered Victorian era is well described and one feels as if they are truly there. The story is well plotted and moves at a quick pace. The romance subplot is sweet, and you are rooting for Byron to remember Mira. With the Order of Circe moving in the shadows, you don’t know who you can trust, edging up the tension. I’m looking forward to the next installment as I have my suspicions as who else is involved.

For future readers these novels must be read in order. Be that as it may, this novel is just as strong as the first. This book addresses how Byron lost his memory with the help from a young woman from his past, a Miss Trimble. Mira is jealous of their connection despite having no knowledge of her own about their relationship. She’s feeling ungrounded, because Byron must rely on his journal to know who she is on a daily basis. He’s hired her as his secretary and someone whom he can rely on to document the details of their investigations. Both have a romantic interest in each other, but his inability to lay down new memories prevents them from moving forward.
Another gentleman of interest has entered their lives and Alexander Durant is very interested in Mira.
A host of developments unfold as Samira Blayse and Byron Constantine investigate the murder of her uncle’s business partner. Her uncle is the primary suspect. Follow the couple in this story as Byron is simultaneously protecting an ambassador at the behest of the Queen, while Samira is enjoying the return of her twin brother and the company of Durant. Who is Durant? Who is Grace Trimble? Is the crime organization Circe involved in this? Can Byron and Mira’s love survive these challenges and the romantic overtures of Durant towards Mira? There are so many multiple fascinating storylines to follow, that readers will be entranced. Enjoy the mysteries.
I’m looking forward to reading Book 3. I have received an ARC from the author and I am leaving an unbiased review voluntarily.
This one was even more fun than the first! It carries on with Byron's memory loss and his and Mira's growing feelings. The mystery of Circe and the mysterious messenger gets more complicated as Mira grows close to someone she might just need to be suspicious of instead. And to make matters more confusing, a woman from Byron's past seems to be sparking memories from after the accident and even from the previous days to come to his mind... except for memories of Mira. This is all in the blurb, but it's carried through so nicely. The mystery is thrilling and, once solved, makes so much sense! All the clues are actually throughout the book, leaving me wondering why I wasn't able to see it sooner. As for the romantic aspect, normally I don't go for love-triangles or second-male lead, but for whatever reason, the way Brianne wrote it just worked for me. Second-male lead genuinely had me rooting for him. Though, Byron still has my heart (for Mira, that is) and thus made me wonder what would happen, and what I even wanted to happen. But, to avoid risk of spoilers, let's leave it there. The end answered so many questions, yet left us with so many new, very much unanswered, questions. Hopefully the third in the series come out soon! Good job, Miss Brianne, you have another reader eagerly awaiting your next installment! You did amazingly!

Review
This book was another hit by the author, I absolutely LOVED it like the first one. Like the first book this has a lot of things going at once without overwhelming the reader but enough to keep the reader hooked from page 1.
Our MC is Mira who is still in love with Byron but as his memory fades and he has to look into his notes to even rekindle his relationship every single day doesn't seem to bother Mira....too much. In this book Mira finds herself in the Buckingham Palace to safeguard the British Ambassador, something she didn't expect while she started her journey with Byron. They not only find themselves in the midst of a murder but also espionage and three other mysteries on the go! This book was a little bit more normal paced than the last book but had enough dramatic flair to lure the reader into its Victorian era customs. Though Mira's role is kinda unconventional in the Victorian setting the book definitely packs a punch.
The author has done a fantastic job of writing this sequel, it's just the thing I wanted after reading book 1, the characters are beautifully written, the plot crafted to precise perfection, the writing style elegant and the cover is just GORGEOUS! Can't wait to read more from the author!
'Flashes of Memory' picks up right where 'The Pennington Perplexity' left off, making it a seamless continuation of the sleuthing adventures. Byron remains such a wholesome character—respectful, intelligent, and generous. His gradual recovery of memories adds depth to his arc, while Mira’s balance of bravery and quiet reserve makes her a steady and admirable partner. Together, they remain a delight to follow.
Jealousy plays a bigger role in this installment, with two fascinating characters stirring up tension. While it was hard watching them come between Byron and Mira, it did push the romance forward in interesting ways. On the lighter side, I adored the addition of Walker—his adventurous, silly nature and sweet brotherly bond with Mira brought warmth and charm to the story.
As with the first book, the mystery here is less about the shock of the reveal and more about watching the characters gather clues, interact with those around them, and piece things together. That sense of teamwork and connection makes it enjoyable to read, even when I guessed parts of the outcome.
Special thanks to BookSirens for a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I do tend to be a binge-reader, but I probably would have read this all in one sitting regardless.
Mira and Byron are continuing on with their adventures in investigation and romance! In this book we're introduced to more members of their immediate circle as well as some new acquaintances, which gives us more opportunities to see the many facets of their character.
As a sequel, there are a lot of references to events and people from the first book, so I would recommend reading them together or skimming to refresh your memory if it's been a while since you read the first one. Or just embrace the Byron in you and plunge ahead with amnesiac abandon! There are some fun clues along the way that I believe hint at what we can expect in the next book, and what other challenges may lie ahead. I'll leave my own notes guessing at the mystery elsewhere, but I've already turned back to some interesting passages to hunt for subtle clues.
Putting this last since it's more of an open recommendation than a review of the book: If you read and loved Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson, I think you'll love the Constantine Capers as well!
The future looks promising for private investigator Byron Constantine as his memory begins to return after years of amnesia. His secretary, Mira Blayse, is wondering if she is needed any longer since Byron isn’t having to use her as much as he had in remembering details of cases and other things. I felt sorry for Mira as she is in quite a dilemma. On one hand, she is happy that he is continuing to gain his memory, but on the other hand, Byron still can’t seem to remember her.
With a murder to solve, an ambassador to protect, and investigating who is involved with the secret anarchy group,Circe, Byron, Mira and their friends have quite an adventure in this book. I am loving the Constantine Capers and highly recommend this book and the series. I am excited to read the next book.

I read this at the beginning of the year and realized I had forgotten to review it. Flashes of Memory is book 2 in the Constantine Capers series by Natalie Brianne. I read book one in this series last year and really liked it. This book was even better because I already knew and loved the main characters.
Once again Mira and Byron are completely involved in a mystery and loads of danger. Byron still has his memory problems but he starts having flashbacks in this novel. We also meet both of their brothers and find out more about each of their backgrounds and also learn more about the organization, The Order of Circe. The best part is when the twosome are invited to Buckingham Palace and all of the mystery and intrigue that happens while there.
This novel had the right mixture of romance, mystery, suspense, and excitement. Flashes of memory was a great second book in the series. There were a few things left up in the air which makes waiting for book three very hard.
Once again, the Constantine Capers is witty and captivating in a Sherlock Holmes style mystery. After reading hundreds of mysteries, this series is now my favorite!
The twists and turns keep the reader flipping pages to see what Byron and Mira will discover next. Throughout the text you are unsure of who is truly helping or hindering the ongoing investigations.
Mira continues to be an amazing woman who uses her intelligence and natural curiosity to not only assist Byron, but come to eye opening conclusions. She’s a woman of action, not waiting for men to accomplish what needs to be done.
Byron continues the struggle to regain his memories while “flashes of memory” keep growing throughout the book.
If you love a “Sherlock Holmes” mystery, you will enjoy this series!.

Enjoyed this immensely! I've been looking forward to book two in the Constantine Capers series by Natalie Brianne. Delightfully, I found book two even more enjoyable than the first one. The mystery was intriguing, and how the bad guy did it was impressive. There were plenty of twists and turns to keep me on the edge of my seat, in both the mystery and the romance. I really enjoy Natalie's writing style. I am now looking forward to book 3. I ran across her website nataliebrianne.com and subscribed to her newsletter. She has a fun secrets page that has more writings, including a novella that tells the story from Byron's point of view. All in all I'd say the Constantine Capers series is a real winner!
Book 2, the story resumes from book 1 in 1888. Mira and Byron encounter a dead body and hastily call the police. Mira's uncle becomes the prime suspect, so Mira and Byron investigate to find the true murderer. Meanwhile, Byron's past catches up and Mira learns more about who Byron is (or was) and Byron starts to remember things from before the present day, which Mira struggles to not take personally. The writing is pleasant and descriptive, and includes a charming interaction between Mira and Byron. The structure remains making every chapter a new day to demonstrate how Byron's memory works.

This is such a good story! It is quite creative with wonderful characters, lots of action, surpises and ‘I never saw that coming’ moments. Byron’s memory issues give a new meaning to ‘every day is a new day’; and the tension between Grace and Mira is an avenue for lots of emotion. I was instantly swept into the story, and was engaged and engrossed from beginning to end. As a matter of fact, I stayed up late reading because I just couldn’t put it down. The ending is a tee-up (tease) for the next book in the series, and I can hardly wait!.

Okay friends. I just finished another book that has been on my shelf for much too long and all I want to know is why in the world did it take me so long to read this book?! Constantine Capers: Flashes of Memory is so good!
This story seemed to have it all - mystery, intrigue, action, adventure, awesome plot twists, bad guys you just want to kick in the shins, good guys you can't help but love, a sweet romance, a cliffhanger ending....what more could you want?
Byron and Mira are seriously the cutest. I love how unique their story is. I mean, a detective with memory loss and his lovely secretary falling in love?! Can it get any better?? I think not. I loved watching their romance continue to unfold in this story, as this book picks up right where the first book left off.
Moral of the story here friends is that if this series isn't on your TBR list, it needs to be. I have spoken.
Byron & Mira are back in another exciting instalment in the Constantine Capers.
The mystery and skulduggery is as satisfying as it was in the first book in the series. And in this instalment we also get to learn more about Byron and the reasons for his memory loss.
'Flashes of memory' is a fast paced engaging story with interesting characters.
Can't wait to read the third book in the series to see what happens next for Byron & Mira and their fight against the Order of Circe.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
As a second book, this one didn’t disappoint as characters were added, Byron’s backstory became clearer, and Mira was kept busy chasing trouble.
What could have been a relatively easy assignment to help watch an ambassador turned into a more complicated mix of murder, kidnapping, another woman, and deception. The story moved swiftly and I enjoyed it. If I had any complaints it would be the emotional turmoil of Mira that seemed to overwhelm the last third of the book. It did, however, end with the promise of another adventure for Byron and Mira.
I read this second in the series immediately after the first as I wanted to know more and found that it was set immediately after the first. As with heh first, it was easy to read but more emotionally involved. The characters are very relatable, and they meld together really well – one a detective and his offsider is an artist. I found that not only do they solve current crimes but they are also investigating a long running crime thread thru from the first book.
