Who took the mummy's treasure? -Was it Mr. Green in the Dining Room with the Knife? -Was it Mrs. White in the Lounge with the Lead Pipe? -Was it Colonel Mustard in the Library with the Candlestick?
Mr. Boddy has invited his six best friends to be guests at this mansion for the weekend. When this weird and wacky crew get together, anything can happen. Follow along with their antics as you match up characters and crimes. Exciting mind-bending mini-mysteries to test your ability as a sleuth!
This book is such a trip down memory lane for me. It calls to mind the days in grade school when I would scour through the Scholastic catalog, circling all of the books I wanted to buy when the book fair would come to my school gymnasium. Back then I certainly couldn't purchase everything I wanted, but some of the fun was just in the search itself. Combine that with my love of the board game Clue, still my all time favorite, and this book was always going to be a winner to me. In terms of the contents, the book is comprised of a handful of mini-mysteries, most of them containing the classic elements of the various suspects, rooms, and weapons of the game. None of them proved too difficult for an adult, but I imagine would be at least a little challenging for the younger audience this book is intended for. It is also full of just terrible dad jokes, which only added to the charm for me. A fun way to spend a rainy afternoon.
I love these books. They really get you thinking. No one ever wants to play Clue with me, so these silly little books are as close as I can get. I must say, some of them stumped me, but it was still so much fun to figure out.
The puns are all an added bonus.
Reading these with the kids is pretty fun too, I think everyone loves to solve a mystery every now and then.
Free book Ellie picked up at the library. She likes solving mysteries. Read in 1 day. Dad read in a couple of days. They did their book club on this book, hit some balls at the Indio golf course, and had dairy queen ice cream :)...krb 9/28/19
Another one! Ten page stories, approximately, each with a mystery to solve. These are mostly word puzzles for kids, but the characters are mean and greedy.
The characters are fun and entertaining throughout the book. There is tons of humor that kept me thoroughly entertained as a child. I love whodunit books and trying to figure out the various mysteries and this collection of tales certainly doesn’t disappoint.
