⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I enjoyed this book, and I continue to love this couple, but I do have some mixed feelings about how this installment was handled.
I loved the first book in this arc more, largely because it was heavy on world-building, discovery, and firsts. Getting to know Arc and Samantha, watching their relationship form, and being immersed in the Infinite City was incredibly satisfying. This book, by comparison, felt more like an extension of the previous story rather than a fully standalone installment. In many ways, it read like an extended epilogue or a continuation meant to tie up loose ends.
That said, I still very much enjoyed my time with it. Arc remains one of my favorite characters in the series. His devotion to Samantha, his protective and possessive nature toward her, and the way he softens only for her are exactly what I love about him. He may be rough and sharp-edged with the rest of the world, but his love for her is unwavering, and that contrast continues to work beautifully. The romance is strong, the emotional connection is solid, and there are some genuinely enjoyable and steamy moments throughout.
I especially loved the personal touches, like Arc’s over-the-top way of caring for Samantha, the shopping spree, and the wedding at the end. Drak’s vows and personality were absolutely on point and added some much-needed humor. Those moments felt very true to the characters and were a joy to read.
My main critique is that I don’t fully understand why this story needed to be a separate book instead of being included in the previous one. While I respect giving the story the space it needed to wrap up properly, it didn’t quite feel like a new chapter so much as a continuation.
Overall, this was still a solid read, and I’m invested enough in this world and these characters to continue the series. It just didn’t quite reach the same emotional impact as the first book for me, which is why it lands at four stars instead of five.
