"The Maker's Diet Revolution" is the long awaited sequel to The Maker's Diet that Jordan Rubin's fans are ready for. Jordan will share everything he has learned in the years since he wrote The Maker's Diet, including: Health and Diet Tips Why our nation's food supply is compromised The importance of organic foods Choosing the best water sources Raising healthy children, healing chronic illnesses and much more! His Popular Health Myths and Truths Jordan Rubin is a renowned natural health expert and NYT Best-selling author of The Maker's Diet.
Snake oil salesman alert! For those unfamiliar with the term, snakeoil sales refers to marketing a product using fraudulent claims - like this book does. I had read " The Maker's Diet" by the same author several years ago, but I had forgotten what it was about. This book claims that it has a 10 day diet to lose weight and detoxify your body, mind and spirit. 10 days sounds fairly simple and I thought it might be good. I was wrong. Jordan Rubin has several different companies selling supplements and health "foods" and his books serve to advertise for his products. This book focuses on his Live Beyond Organic company - a multi-level marketing company that sells "organic" processed food products. At the beginning of the book, Jordan explains how he went on an evangelical trip to India even though he was afraid of the parasites in their food and water because his wife and son had visions that they should go. Then, God spoke to Jordan and told him that since he was so faithful to go and evangelize in India, He would honor Jordan "by giving him an innovative idea and strategy to transform the health of people." God then told Jordan to have his organic food company make and market a product that he could advertise by writing this book! God is such a businessman. The book's concept begins with a 10 day "fast", which can be done in two ways. One way involves drinking water and eating primarily vegetables during certain hours of the day. The other option is to purchase the "Daniel Diet 10-Day Transformation Pack", which the author claims you can have shipped to your door for "about the same price the average American spends on food per day." The 10 day pack costs $300. If you believe that God spoke to Jordan Rubin and told him to sell all this stuff, then feel free to spend your money on it. Considering that Jordan Rubin has been taken to court in the past for making fraudulent claims for his Garden of Life Products, http://www.quackwatch.com/11Ind/rubin... I, for one, am not buying this stuff. I received this book free to review from Netgalley. I am glad that I did not pay for it.
Much of the credit for my health transformation must go to Jordan Rubin, who inspired me to try and live a life free of chemicals, pesticides, and other harmful ingredients found in foods, body products, and household cleaners. I have read several of Rubin’s books such as The Maker’s Diet, Patient Heal Thyself, The Raw Truth, and The Great Physicians Rx for Health and Wellness, all in which he has provided his personal testimony of how he was cured of Crohns Disease. Needless to say, I was overjoyed when I was offered an advanced copy of his new book, The Maker’s Diet Revolution: The 10 Day Diet to Lose Weight and Detoxify Your Body, Mind, and Spirit. In the book, Rubin introduces a diet plan based upon the Bible’s book of Daniel. Daniel was a Jew in Babylon during captivity. He and three other young men did not want to eat the food the king had to offer because it was defiling to them (religiously and nutritionally). Daniel and these three Jewish men were given permission to be given a specific diet of only pulse (raw vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans, and seeds) and water for 10 days. After the allotted time, these men were much more healthier—both physically and mentally—than all the other king’s men. Rubin uses this biblical account to encourage people in this day and age to have a 10 day fast of only the pulse foods and water. The results are often astounding and result in weight loss, toxin elimination, and increased energy.
In addition to encouraging various annual, monthly, weekly, and daily fastings, Rubin also expounds upon dietary habits we must form in order to maintain radical health: 1)Consume Fermented Foods and Beverages Daily-- Products such as sauerkraut and kombucha are chalk full of probiotics, which help build up the body’s resistance to viruses, etc. 2)Incorporate Herbs and Spices into Your Meals—Each herb or spice has unique healing properties, contributing to digestive, urinary, respiratory, neurological, and mental health, as well as aiding in proper inflammatory response. Herbs and spices also contain various vitamins that contribute to good, physical health. 3)Avoid “Unclean” Meats-- One thing Rubin mentioned really made me think: “God called pork products and shellfish ‘unclean’ and ‘detestable’ thousands of years ago, so how has that changed?” These creatures are scavengers, essentially eating feces and decaying animals. Why would we want to put that into our bodies? 4)Avoid A1 Beta-Casein in Milk-- I thought that all cows milk was bad for us, but Rubin has me rethinking my position. The real culprit in milk is not milk itself, but the A1 Beta-Casein found in most cows here in America. A2 cows do not contain the Beta-Casein, and A2 cows that live organically and have free access to grass (rather than grain) 24/7 produce healthy dairy that we can benefit from. 5)Choose Natural, Safe Sweeteners—Sugar and artificial sweeteners lower the body’s immunity, allowing inflammation to build up and produce harmful cancers, etc. Natural sweeteners such as raw honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar, and stevia are safer options. 6)Make Homemade Broth from Organic, Pastured Animal Bones—Boiling and then simmering soup bones in water enable healthy nutrients such as gelatin, collagen, and various minerals to be unleashed and consumed. This is something I need to consume more often! 7)Stop Using Common Facial/Body Products—The cosmetics, face wash, shampoos, lotions, soaps, and other products you will find in a store contain numerous chemicals that are easily and quickly absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream. Once inside, they build up in the tissues and can cause tumors and other harmful health issues. Using natural, organic products such as essential oils in place of these chemical-laden products can save us from so many future health problems! 8)Exercise Regularly—Exercise eliminates toxins and also strengthens the body. It improves circulation and supports a healthy heart.
Rubin also includes a health plan and various healthy recipes which I look forward to trying out. There were a few cons while reading this book. First, a lot of the information in this book was repetitive. Having read multiple books by Rubin, I kind of felt like I could predict what was coming in a lot of the chapters. Second, the author spends so much of the book promoting his new line, Beyond Organic. While this is fine, it was kind of a turn off because I was expecting a book of that size to contain a lot of useful information. Instead, it seemed half of it was dedicated to promotion, and half to information. And third, Rubin mentioned that his Beyond Organic products were very much affordable to the average family. That does not seem to be the case. I can afford to live organically, but I am unable to afford his products, which is sad because I was really interested in trying them! Two small 3.5 oz bags of a snack mix will end up costing $25 before shipping, something that I cannot justify.
Overall, I did enjoy reading the book and recommend it to people who desire to have a radical transformation in their health such as Jordan Rubin and I both experienced.
The Maker's Diet Revolution by Jordan Rubin was a eye-opening surprise for me. Who is the Maker? As I read through the introduction, I realize that the Maker is God. What does God have to do with dieting? I found out how Jordan Rubin, faced with many life threatening , incurable diseases, decided to follow the Old Testament example of Daniel.
It was a nutritionist who offered to show Jordan God's health plan in the Bible, a diet proven through history and confirmed by science. Jordan got well and shared his life changing experiences and healthy living all over the world.
(Note: if you are not a Bible believer, you can still definitely profit by reading this book)
The three principles of this book: 1. Eat what God created for food. 2. Don't alter God's design. 3. Don't let any food or drink become your idol.
The author gives many options on cleansing and detoxing the body, and choosing to eat beyond organic.
There are recipes galore, and testimonials from actual users of the plan. Sections on GMOs and hybridization are the topics of today's consumer groups and health activists.
After the reader is given all the information on the Maker's Diet, the author leads you to his website(www.LiveBeyondOrganic.com).
This book is a great resource for eating healthy and organically. But I think that the costs of the products would be a financial problem for most people.
We, as parents, need to teach our children and grandchildren better nutrition and hope that dangerous chemicals in our food chain will be eliminated.
I was given this free book by the author and The BookClubNetwork for my honest review.
I wanted to give this book more stars. There is some good information in it that I will use moving forward, but I think I read it about 10 years too late.
Big chunks read like an infomercial for the author's products... most of which are no longer on the market. Here's why our (fill in the blank) is superior... but wait, you can't get it anymore. Frustrating.
So, I don't recommend this version despite the useful stuff - much of it is a waste of time. Maybe his earlier book was devoid of these ads, I don't know, but I think you could probably get all the usable, currently relevant information contained in this book from his old interviews and such.
I like the idea of healthier eating & living bu since I don’t have a farm or make some of the foods discussed, it would be difficult & expensive to get them. I felt more like the author is promoting his products as much or more than healthy eating,
it was a good read for about 100 pages. felt like the rest of it is just rewritten from his previous books. If you hadn't read them then this would be great all the way through.
“Are you ready to lose weight and transform your body, mind, and spirit in just ten days? If so, Jordan Rubin, one of America’s most recognized and respected natural health experts, has a revolutionary approach to help you win the battle of the bulge and experience a true health breakthrough. More than just a diet, The Maker’s Diet Revolution will help you power your mind, supercharge your spirit, and walk in a lifetime of favor and blessings.”
I was interested in reading this book to see what new and exciting research has happened since Mr. Rubin’s first book – The Maker’s Diet. I remember reading the first book and thinking that it was great that it worked for him, but the “plan” was a bit too extreme for me. Sadly, I have similar feelings with this book.
The book focuses on thee principles, or pillars, of biblical health:
o Eat what God created for food o Don’t alter God’s design o Don’t let any food or drink become your idol
On the plus side, I was reminded that all the “junk” food that I consume is not what my body needs for optimal performance. I was also reminded to focus on what and where my food comes from and how it is processed and altered.
It didn’t take that many pages before I was turned off by the message of the book as it seemed to me to be an ongoing infomercial for his LiveBeyondOrganic dot com website.
Does the book give good information for anyone wanting to better their health and the lifestyle? Yes.

I had the privilege of reading The Maker’s Diet Revolution by Jordan Rubin. I was already familiar with this author and his background so was excited to read this book. It met my expectations and then some. Mr. Rubin addresses not just the physical aspects of getting healthy but shows the spiritual element to true health as well. I was so happy to see that as I believe inviting God into the healing process and asking Him for true healing is the only way health will be achieved. And true healing looks different for each individual. His approach is realistic and the eating plan is affordable as well as offers many benefits. The only drawback is that the price of supplements (not just his but supplements in general) can be out of reach for some people. Having dealt with illness for over seven years in our family personally, we have reached the end of our economical rope with no resources left for supplements at this point. However, for those who can plan them in their budget, their benefits of speeding up the process of health is very beneficial. I believe, though, that following the nutrition plan, eating the way God intended, is equally priceless in the process.
I am so glad to have received and read this book. The part where he described the evangelical rallies in India and personally watched thousands of people become Christ-followers, be healed of disease, and set free from bondage gave me goosebumps. I love that I serve a God who is willing to be so personal and meet so many people at their brokenness. I’m proud to call Him my Maker as well.

“The Maker’s Diet Revolution” is a book that teaches many facts about food and our eating habits. The three main principles that are taught are “1. Eat what God created for food. 2. Don’t alter God’s design. 3. Don’t let any food or drink become your idol.” These principles are expanded on throughout the book, and they are based on what the Bible says we should and shouldn’t eat. The book is broken into two parts, cleansing your body, and building your body. Each section has many detailed explanations on how to follow the recommendations and why they are so important for our bodies. At the end of the book there is a detailed eating plan and recipes, as well as lists of foods that we should be eating as well as the ones we should stay away from. Jordan Rubin’s writing is easy to understand. He uses a lot of layman’s terms and personal anecdotes to get his health principles across. He backs up his findings with science, scripture, and personal stories. While I agree with a lot of what Rubin says, especially about eating foods created in nature, not chemically altered foods, I feel that the eating plan would be expensive and tedious to follow. It is sad that we live in world where fresh fruits and vegetables cost more than Oreos and candy! Anyone desiring to improve their health, lose weight or eat chemically free would benefit from reading “The Maker’s Diet Revolution.” I received this book from The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review.
Jordan Rubin has taken great care to research both scriptures from the Bible as well as other health information in this book. I find it very interesting and hope to attempt to follow the diet for health reasons as I suffer from Ulcerative Colitis. I do wonder though what effect it will have on my system and he does offer some alternatives for those for whom the symptoms are too problematic. I am under the impression that I will likely need to modify my own diet somewhat due to the side effects of cleansing as I do not have a small intestine at all. My gall bladder has been removed and this also causes problems. My thought is that there will likely be some issues for me due to these matters that may not have been considered in the creation of the diet. I do feel that Jordan Rubin has researched the Biblical Daniel Diet and attempted to perfect it. I will update and let readers know how the diet works for me. I would love to hear from others who have followed the diet. What Mr. Rubin states makes a great deal of sense to me. He also mentions that products can be purchased from Beyond Organic, a company that he founded to provide special organic products to help people. I received a free copy of this book from The Book Club Network (bookrun.org) in exchange for my honest review.
Good read with many great health foundational principles recommended which are becoming more true by the day since the release of this book - I also liked it being coupled with faith in God and use of prayer - only frustrating thing was his added sales pitches to his company and products which were longer than needed to be and disrupted the flow of reading

The Maker’s Diet Revolution, the 10 Day Diet to lose weight and detoxify your body, mind and spirit by Jordan Rubin The author Jordan Rubin wrote this book and The Maker’ Diet after becoming very sick with Crohn’s disease. The book is divided into two parts. The first is CLEASING YOUR BODY and the spiritual benefits of fasting. He teaches the importance of water, raw fruit, veggies, nuts and seeds, and their health benefits. The second part is BUILDING YOUR BODY, by rebuilding and restoring your body‘s internal ecosystem. We learn the powerful health agents found in herbs and spices, how electrolytes found in minerals help our body to function properly. We are even provided with recipes, list of food good to eat and which to avoid. I really enjoyed how he backs his diet with scriptures and biblical teachings. I would recommend this book for anyone looking to change their lives, lose weight and become healthier in the mind, body and spirit. I give this book 4 stars for being both educational and spiritual. I want to thank the author Jordan Rubin, publisher and The Book Club Network Inc for providing me with this book in exchange for my honest review
whilst I appreciate religion in all its forms, this was quite heavy on it in terms of healing. as an atheist I believe as he mentioned in the book right towards the end that until he had incorporated soil based probiotics his symptoms didn't improve and its those that foxed his problems. Probiotics in our experience has been one of the biggest changes in IBD, pick a company that tells you wjat strains they use so you can research them properly, unfortunately Jordans company don't do this so you can only surmise they are good ones. Don't sock around with probiotics, ecoli for example can male you really ill, even kill you, but we have another strain in our bodies which is imperative to digesting your food. the same blend he has in his products didn't fix Mt sons UC I think it's more geared towards crohns. For him sbos and regular probiotics as well as a change in diet, removing dairy gluten and nuts has made most difference. in Mt opinion finding uour triggers is the number one issue Good luck to everyone who has this horrible disease
Rubin wants us to go to a biblical diet, such as that experienced by Daniel and his three friends. Surprisingly, this is not vegetarian as Rubin argues Daniel was not necessarily one. There is a plan of cleansing and rebuilding. Rubin sells the food and drink products he recommends but there is enough information in the book that one could pretty much do it without buying the expensive items from Rubin's company. Rubin includes studies that show his plan is healthy. He includes no footnotes and at least a couple of the studies are disputed and border on pseudoscience. There are disclaimers included too as Rubin recommends lots of raw foods, including eggs and dairy (organic is essential). See my full review at http://bit.ly/1iDPyZM.
What a wonderful book on how we should fast, detox and eat foods that God created for us to eat and what not to eat. I liked how Jordan Rubin researched the book of Daniel and the healthy foods Daniel requested he and his friends be given to eat for ten days. I also like how Rubin tells of his near death experience and how a nutritionist introduced him to God's health plan in the Bible. He gives us insight into eating natural foods not chemically grown foods. This book also reminds me of my own eating habits and that I need to change them. At the end Rubin gives us lots of recipes and a detailed eating plan. I do feel that the cost of organic food may not be affordable to a lot of people.
I received this book from bookfun.org for my honest opinion and review.
The Maker's Diet Revolution is a quick read, particularly if you've already read the original Maker's Diet. I found this a repeat of allot of the information, however, the new information in this book concentrated on following a 10-day cleanse that consisted of drinking a whole food liquid drink for 10 days, then the follow up. Since I wasn't looking for a book on cleansing, this wasn't particularly interesting to me at this time. However, I did find the information interesting. I do agree that our culture causes us to NEED to cleanse; however we follow that cleanse is important based upon our current state of health. This cleanse focuses on natural ingredients, prayer, meditation, and focus.
The Maker's Diet Revolution Jordan Rubin is well respected in his health walk. He gives practical easy to follow tips instructions and a wealth of knowledge to the readers. I have been surprised how much I have adapted to this new way of thinking and eating which has honestly revolutionized me totally. I was given this book by bookfun.org to give a honest review, but I can now testify how this book has contributed to the healthy weight loss that I have experienced just by changing what I now eat and how I prepare it. A book well written with tasty toxin free menus. I highly recommend it.
I knew this would be a great book; full of wonderful, nutritious information. I am a advocate of natural, raw and organic food, so I was excited to learn many new things and I will be trying the 10-day diet. I have always been impressed with Jordan Rubin's products; they have been a blessing to my health.
I received a free copy of this book courtesy of The Book Club Network for my honest review.
This book is full of information about healthy living according to the scriptures. It was interesting to me to discover the things that Daniel ate. The author has done a lot of research biblically and medically and came up with a plan for optimal health. This book is a very good reference for eating natural and I know I will refer back to in the future. This book was given to me by book fun.org for my honest review.
While I'm open to any viewpoint on most things, including dieting and nutrition, I don't really want to be told on one hand to pray about it, while on the other hand I'm supposed to pay large sums of money to the author for his special diet products ... a big no from me, could not get past the first few pages of this giant ad campaign masquerading as a book. A review copy was provided by the publisher.
