Robert Kirkman is an American comic book writer best known for his work on The Walking Dead, Invincible for Image Comics, as well as Ultimate X-Men and Marvel Zombies for Marvel Comics. He has also collaborated with Image Comics co-founder Todd McFarlane on the series Haunt. He is one of the five partners of Image Comics, and the only one of the five who was not one of the original co-founders of that publisher.

Robert Kirkman's first comic books were self-published under his own Funk-o-Tron label. Along with childhood friend Tony Moore, Kirkman created Battle Pope which was published in late 2001. Battle Pope ran for over 2 years along with other Funk-o-Tron published books such as InkPunks and Double Take.

In July of 2002, Robert's first work for another company began, with a 4-part SuperPatriot series for Image, along with Battle Pope backup story artist Cory Walker. Robert's creator-owned projects followed shortly thereafter, including Tech Jacket, Invincible and Walking Dead.

Ever since I finished All Out War I've deScided to read and review these issues individually as I feel that sometimes reading them in a Volume can mask a particularly weak issue or a particularly strong one. Luckily, one of the longest issues I can remember turned out to be a great one. I didn't really mind the extra length because it felt so good to see that life has gotten better for Rick and the gang. I loved seeing that Heath has found ways to be useful despite losing his leg, and I loved having a new group enter the scene that can- thankfully- bring in some new personalities. As much as I love the established characters, we haven't really gotten a particularly interesting new character since King Ezekiel in Volume 18. So these new faces were a more than welcome addition. So I have high hopes for this arc. And yes, the way that they showed what has become of Negan is nothing short of chilling.

It's the next issue after the AOW ended so we see much growth and many changes. New people come to town and a society is forming. very nice start to the new cycle.

I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics or Diamond Comics or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on the international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I can. I Love comics to bit, may comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.

Being a huge fan of the show, I wanted to see how the original writing started and how the show writers followed and deviated from the comics. My dislikes were that the comics are much more crude, crass, and unnecessarily violent. I did like the change in relationships and how people worked together differently, and the comics have a different creepiness feel than you get watching it on TV. Overall, I prefer the show, and probably will not finish out the comic book series.

This is a review of the entire series.

Rick Grimes is a strong-willed deputy who missed the end of the world because he was in a coma for a month after getting shot in the line of duty. Shaken, starving and confused, Rick escapes the horror of the abandoned hospital only to be met with something far more terrible. Not only has the world ended, but the dead have learned to walk and to kill without mercy. After learning that his wife and son have fled to Atlanta from a single survivor and his son, Rick goes on a journey to reunite with his family and search for more survivors.

Rick quickly has to come to terms with the fact that the world has ended and only a select few survived. The dead have risen from their graves and they prey on the living. In a world where every minute feels like hours, where there's no such thing as law and order, where finding a small meal is a tremendous task, the walking dead are quite possibly the least threatening thing for the survivors to have on their breaking minds. Humanity is pushed to the brink of destruction, forcing them to embrace their cruel and primal nature in order to survive. Sometimes you have to be more concerned about who you let into your community so they don't kill you in your sleep and steal everything you once cared about. Rick has no choice but to abandon the ways of law and order that he's upheld as an officer for so long in order to protect the few loved ones he has left. He has to become a monster to protect his crew or risk being devoured by those who became more monstrous than him and even the walking dead.

Despite zombies running the world and having the series named after them, what really sets this series apart from the average zombie apocalypse tale is the focus on realism and the daily struggles, flaws and depth of the characters. There's plenty of badass zombie killing action, but the action often takes a back seat to give the characters plenty of times to share their extremely tragic yet endearing stories, grow through mutual suffering and learn to adapt to a world that has left them to die. Even after the world has ended, many people still can't see eye to eye. They turn on each other and kill each other when they should come together. Others form alliances in spite of their differences and try to rebuild over the corpse of everything that was lost. The daily human drama and conflict is more intense than any monster apocalypse could hope to be.

We watch Rick struggle to balance his old moral code with the many necessary evils he has to commit in order to survive and make the world a better place for the ones he holds close. We watch people like Glen, Dale and Maggie attempt to find love in spite of having every reason to be filled with fear, hate and self-loathing. Characters like Michonne have to learn how to forgive themselves and convince themselves they deserve to be loved despite all the blood on their hands. We watch the weak like Carl and Andrea become strong and sometimes the strong become evil like The Governor. Even monsters like the wicked yet oddly lovable Negan are given the chance to find new ways of redeeming themselves by struggling alongside the other survivors that have all been changed by the horrors of the fallen world.

The pacing is extremely slow and I can understand why that may be a turnoff for a lot of people, but I eventually learned to enjoy watching the characters grow, overcome their trauma, find meaning in life and learn to love again. The characters are forced to do many terrible things to survive and it haunts them every waking moment. The ways they overcome these regrets is very realistic, human and hopeful. The slow pacing really gives the feeling that we're living beside these people. The way every tiny detail of their lives and who they are is explored makes them feel very real and believable.

When I first started reading the series, I wasn't expecting it to have such an uplifting ending. It seemed so bleak and nihilistic for a long time and things would go horribly wrong even when they seemed to be going so well, but the finale channels all the pain, suffering and betrayal of the previous volumes and tops it off with a very touching and inspiring finish. This was never a story about hopelessness. It's about learning to appreciate the little things, learning to forgive yourself and learning to move on even when it's hard. When everything seems lost there's always more to be found, even when we believe otherwise because we convince ourselves that we don't deserve to be happy ever again. Instead of dwelling on what was lost, strive to try and make things better than they were before.

I've never been a huge fan of zombie apocalypse stories, but The Walking Dead had enough heart and strong social commentary to make me stick by the characters until the end and I enjoyed every moment of their long trial.

Okay, so it's a 2 1/2 year time jump since the last issue. Now, who are Magna and Yumiko? Do they have anything to do with Rick and Alexandria, or Jesus or Maggie and the Hiltop, or Ezekiel and the Kingdom, or even Dwight and the Savior's?

Oh damn, look at all those zombies. I hope that if these are some good people, that they're able to take out the zombies quickly and without losing any of their people. If they're bad people, I want them to be zombie chow.

Oh shit, the zombies are messing with the truck these people are on, and they could fall off and get bitten and turned. I hope that doesn't happen and that something or someone shows up to save them.

Oh crap, the truck they were on fell over. Well, I'm glad that it seems like they can fight. They've got that going for them. If they make it out of there alive, they should be a lot more careful next time.

Who the hell is that fucker on the horse? He sounds like a jackass already. Oh, well, maybe I misjudged that guy on the horse. It seems like he's there to help those people against the zombies.

Damn, that one guy that got covered by the zombies, that sucks. So long, Bernie. That's such a sucky and painful way to die. I hope someone puts you out of your misery shortly after you turn.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT! Look at all of those damn zombies. They're all in deep shit if they don't get the hell out of there as soon as possible. Look, it's Heath! I'm so happy that he's still alive 2 1/2 years later.

Oh good, Aaron's alive, too. I'm glad. I hope that we see more of the characters that we know and are used to, as we get used to the new characters like Magna and Yumiko. I wonder who the guy on the horse is, though.

HELL YES! Eugene and Rosita are still alive. That's really good. That means that at least a few of the characters we know and like are still around and kicking. I was afraid that they might not be.

I don't like that Aaron was standing on that cart thing and playing that instrument and getting all the zombies to go after him. That's just dangerous as all hell and I can't believe that he's doing it.

Okay, so we have a guy named Kelly who's bitching about some of Rick's people driving the zombies at them, and then away from them. Kelly needs to shut the fuck up and be glad he's still alive.

I like that Magna and that guy on the horse were talking and trying to come to an agreement so that Magna and her group could go with him to his community.

So, the guy on the horse is from the Kingdom? Have Eugene and Aaron and Heath moved over there, too? Or are they just taking turns sending out groups of people to look after each community and deal with the zombies?

Wow, apparently the guy on the horse knows Rick pretty well, if he's been able to talk Rick into taking people into the community. I hope that he can talk Rick into taking these people into the community.

I'm glad that Rick and Andrea are still together and both of them are still alive. I'm also glad that the damage that Negan had done to Rick's foot or feet weren't that bad. Good to know he can still walk and everything.

Oh shit, Rick's changed so much that I don't even recognize him. Andrea still looks the same, which is good, as I don't like the idea of him being with anyone else, at least not just yet.

Oh good, they have a munitions factory. I take it to mean that Eugene and the people that were helping him before have a really good thing going if they have a whole factory for them to work in now.

Damn, Carl looks like a fucking girl with his hair like that. At first glance I thought he WAS a girl, but then I read the speech bubbles and Rick was talking to Carl. Geez, cut your damn hair, kid.

So, when Carl says Mom, is he talking about Andrea now? It's not a big deal if he is, I'm just wondering. She's the closest thing he's had to a mother figure in a really long time.

Oh wow, look at everything they have and all the people and animals they have. That's pretty fucking awesome and I hope things keep going well for them and their communities.

Well, at least Olivia looks the same, at least to me. I like that. She and Andrea are the only two people so far that I can recognize on sight. The time skip and how everyone looks now, will take some getting used to.

I liked the size of the grand hall, it's fucking huge. I'm glad they have so many people so that they can use it and fit everyone inside of it. I was bored by the plant talk, but I was glad to see Andrea riding up.

Andrea needs to calm down. The guy's doing the best he can with the amount of people and supplies he has to work with. If it takes a long time to get the rooms ready, they'll just have to deal with it.

Wow, Rosita and the others were out there for five days. I'm glad they're all still alive, but they must be stinking like crazy. And they're going to be stinking a lot worse if they really do jump in and resume working on the rooms.

Huh, I wonder what Rosita has to talk to Eugene about. I wonder if the two of them finally got together and if she's pregnant. If they DID get together and she is pregnant, she shouldn't be going out and dealing with the zombies.

Magna needs to get over herself. She should understand that Rick and his people are only taking their weapons until he's certain that they can be trusted. He has to look after his family and his people.

Oh, so the guy on the horse is Jesus. I didn't recognize him at all. He looks so different now that he doesn't look like a hobo. Now he looks sort of Chinese or something. It's not a bad thing, I just didn't know that was him.

I like the conversation between Rick and Eugene. Eugene's now a very important part of the community and I'm so glad that he's been able to do lots of stuff to be useful to Rick and the community.

Man, it's almost like Carl's stalking his Dad to talk about whatever's on his mind. I like that Rick and Carl are finally talking about Carl picking up a trade and helping out. I'm also glad that Rick's agreed to think about letting Carl go to the Hiltop so work with Earl.

Aww, I like that Andrea wants to help Carl get over to the Hiltop and work with Earl. That proves that she wants what's best for him and it's good that she's not afraid to tell Rick that she thinks Carl should go.

Oh shit! I didn't think that Carl was still talking to Negan. Also, I would not feel comfortable having him in the same house as me, unless he was in some kind of cage or jail or room where he absolutely could not get out.

FINALLY. We've somewhat moved away from the conflict of Survivors/Negan/Zombies(as always). This is where they start to rebuild a community or their own and recreate civilization as they once knew it. I'm excited to see how the series progresses from here on out.

Also, it's pretty cool to see everyone growing up & changing, with the huge leap in time you see at the beginning of this one.

OMG. This was an awesome issue! I loved it.

The story starts with a new group, before some familiar faces appear and take this new group to Alexandria so they can meet their leader--Rick. Some time has gone by and everyone looks older, not to mention that Alexandria looks great! Everyone's got a job, there are gardens, they now have a way of controlling the herds, and the survivors are actually living their lives. For the first time in AGES, it actually feels like there might be some sort of hopeful future for everyone.

It's a happy continuation to the horrible war they faced the last few issues. Only problem is, I'm scared that it's all going to fall apart. Not too soon, I hope. These people deserve a little happiness. :)

Can't wait to see what happened with Michonne and Maggie...

This time jump was so much fun. I love that we didn't have to go through the tedium of seeing everything set up. And I love seeing the changes in everyone. I expected that at least these first few issues after all-out war would be focusing on new characters only. I was wrong, thankfully, and this is a big dose of the old and the new. The double-issue was really nice too.

Carl is going to snatch all the wigs.

The time skip was great. I liked seeing how far the community has come. I'm looking forward to this new era. I'm itching to see the others (Maggie,Sophia, and the Kingdom).

- Two years have gone by.
- Yumiko's kinda cool.
- Jesus looks like a laser tag player.
- Rick looks like tWDTV's Herschel.
- Carl calls Andrea 'mom'.
- She, however, was hesitant to call him 'our boy' in return.
- They've kept Negan alive.

I throughly enjoyed the time jump and the beginning of a new story! This was a nice change of pace after the disappointing ending of #126.

A time jump and a lot of setup and present-day world-building. I can't get used to Rick's new hair.

Depending in where the story goes, this could be an ok jumping on point for new readers.

I loved the the time jump. Not much action, lots of character development. I wonder if Negan is slowly starting to brainwash Carl. Btw that zombie herd looked absolutely humongous!

The flash forward is really cool. Rick is now a very mature leader with lots of battle scars. Can't believe Negan is being kept in a cell. That will be a mistake that comes back to haunt them.

Smart way to start off a new arc while introducing creeping chaos in the closing pages of the issue. Kirkman has done a remarkable job keeping this fresh for over a decade.
