Can't say there are many things to learn from this book as most of the pieces of advice can be found in other books and maybe even better structured.
I enjoyed two facts about this book: the first one is that she's constantly saying that you don't have to go and shame or bio-shame your friends because of some of the non-biohacking decisions they are making. And I believe that's what should we apply to ourselves as well, we shouldn't shame ourselves for some of the non-biohacking decisions we are making.
The second is that you don't have to start changing your life from tomorrow and follow all the "biohacks" she mentions in the book, if you start small and even if after years like here you are at an early stage it's still fine.
I was very excited about this book, especially because the title refers to women specifically. The book is disappointing tho; she basically gathered all the research provided by others and created separate chapters to detail it. It’s no new information, no “wow” plan to follow. If you follow the right researchers, you would have already known the information! Easy to read. Glad that I paid only £0.99 for it!
(The title doesn't really do it justice) Some parts of this book were irrelevant or a bit too new age for me, but overall, I found it quite helpful... I was reading it for a better understanding of hormones and especially fluctuating energy levels - she gave practical advice that has made a big difference!
This book is more of a mix of a blog with poor jokes meets Wikipedia page with questionable sources.
Very pop culture, stating the obvious. Lacks depth and is poorly written.
I was expecting was more, perhaps some true studies and scientific facts would have been useful. Truly a waste of time. Not everyone who has the audience should write a book really.
I have followed Aggie for years aka my fellow Polish sister from another mister! I read this book in 2 days in between things + felt like we were walking on a beach together lol #nocoffee shops aka no sitting down!
GET THIS BOOK! This is a book for those beginning to advanced in Biohacking 100%! I adore the authenticity, reliability and humor every step of the way especially the analogies with Super Mario, NYC and SO many more!
This coming from someone who started her own biohacking + transformational journey 7+ years ago incl 55+ lbs lost + is a NPC athlete+ sober lifestyle + travel + does cryo/ice baths, infrared sauna, biohacking practices breathwork, EFT + loves to learn + apply aka #CREATEIT too!
At the same time, Aggie puts together so much wisdom, integration, and science from many experts and many directions, this book will save you time AND I learned at EVERY turn and implemented too! Both Aggies + and Jim's book are top of my list this qtr!
Emily's work aligns to the meditation I discovered from another expert 100%. While reading, I did a breathwork with Owaken on their YouTube channel on money + and cried like a baby! My word for this year is worthy + he kepts talking about worthiness! SO much released! Breathwork will change your life! IT is def changing mine!
I LOVED Aggies hormone class earlier this year as I have been diving DEEP the last year-ish on hormones when I first experienced mood swings, shifts, and a migraine on my cycle (they are gone now thank GOD!)
As a woman and an athlete, I will especially be revisiting this book with the workouts on cycle time. Interestingly, I was already naturally fasting mid-cycle 14-17 hours tuning in:)! Win! I have been listening to my body and adjusting workouts too! I also am adding more healthy fat to see how my body responds further in % to overall nutrients.
While reading this in the last 2 days, I already started eating veggies first, gargling (LOVED learning about Vagus Nerve from my Chiro years ago!), soaking veggies overnight now, added in Fun Fridays (last week!), was reminded about AC (duh add in the water so much easier!lol), + coconut pulling (starting again tomorrow!).
Keep loving little Aggie - Aggie! I carry around a picture of myself too + did an Inner Child Workbook last year + ComplexPTSD book! PHEW!
I loved the manifesto we read aloud, I love how you focus on the women rising up and all of shining our lights oh so bright as QUEENS!
I want to preface by saying if you are not a nutritional nerd lover like me, then this book is great!! If you are just starting out on a fitness/wellness journey there is lots of great tips and tricks and segues to continue your learning.
I wanted to love this book so bad, because I was thinking it was going to be full of new information so I could continue on my learning journey. However, it is information that has been known since before “biohacking” became so popular. I am not a fan of how biohacking has become this new buzzword when really it’s nothing new. Other than also offering services that cost a bazillion dollars to prevent you from aging.
Regardless, I appreciate Aggie’s drive to shine the light on women’s health and wellness, and I love the availability of information out there now to help women thrive and jive with our natural cycles.
"BioHack Like a Women" offers a refreshing approach to biohacking that focuses on improving hormones, fertility, depression, and energy instead of just weight loss. It provides a holistic view on health, encouraging a balanced diet that includes fats and carbs many women tend to avoid. I appreciate that it dives into meditation, breathing, sleep, play, stress, and working with your cycle, not just focusing solely on food. This book is specifically tailored for women, standing out in a field dominated by resources geared towards men. While some information may seem repetitive to those familiar with health and naturopathic remedies, newcomers can benefit greatly. The insights on food are particularly intriguing, highlighting the lack of basic biological knowledge in our society. Aggie's personality adds a fun, girlie touch, making biohacking relatable and enjoyable.
Ordered the book in pre-sale and never got it. After contacting Aggie’s team regarding my order they replied they didn’t even have any order from my email. After sending them my receipt and order confirmation they sent back some (supposedly) AI generated email that I’ll receive shipping confirmation once it’s done. After a few days I got an email with confirmation of refund (didn’t got it to my acc yet), completely out of nowhere.
Honesty? I am disappointed. Did not learn nothing new, author talks so much about herself. I could find at least two unclear statements not to say lies.
This was amazing. I highly recommend this book to any woman who is interested in getting more in tune with their biology and their cycle.
Aggie takes a realistic approach to what feels like the new fad of “biohacking” and emphasizes that the most important factor in the process is doing what feels right for YOU. She defines health as the sense of wellbeing in your mind, body, and spirit, rather than simply meaning the absence of disease. There is loads of information in this book but she advises to take the process one day at a time and if you ever feel overwhelmed, take a step back because biohacking like a woman isn’t meant to stress you out, it’s meant to empower you to be the best version of yourself.
I now listen to her podcasts too where she has phenomenal guests on frequently. I love feeling like I am learning so much from her every time I am exposed to her content.
Overall, if you’re feeling called to read this book, 1000% go for it. Take what resonates with you and leave the rest for someone else who may find it useful for them.
This is such a great entry level health book, not littered with a bunch of science. But on the other hand, if you are a health nerd like me there are a lot of gaps. The beginning really made me reflect on my health and how far I’ve come which made me feel super powerful and grateful. The book was inviting and I loved how much emphasis was placed on how divergent we are as humans and how important it is to find what works for us as individuals in each season and not following fads. Because of where I’m at in my health journey I am definitely looking for a higher level smack down (lol) with more science, but this book is an excellent place to start if you’re just dipping your toes into wanting to feel better.
Very clear biohacking tips, grouped from the easiest to implement to the most advanced. I loved it and after two months of sticking to the author’s recommendations I already feel and look better. Definitely excited to learn more about the subject, and I think that a biohacking cookbook would be a great follow-up to this one.
I’ve been following Aggie for a while and have already learned a lot of what she teaches in the first few sections of the book. The hacks are great and she is fantastic at explaining the science behind it all in simple terms that make it easy to understand. For me, the real gems where in the Level 4 hacks and the words of wisdom that followed. It’s worth reading the book just for that! Also I want more! Where do I pre-order part 2?
chef’s kiss! so informative yet digestible. Aggie feels like a girls girl and the books feels very relatable. I learned so much about health in this book, yet i didn’t feel overwhelmed. she breaks it down into simple actionable steps to improve your health.
I purchased this book after hearing Aggie’s interview on the Dr. Gundry podcast because I was intrigued in learning about the physical changes such as hormone fluctuations that take place over a woman’s 28-day cycle and how to optimize this into diet, exercise, etc. What I got, however, was an extremely watered-down version of facts that I had mostly already learned from Dr. Gundry in the form of painful analogies that made me feel like I was losing brain cells. There were also some often-repeated tropes that are repeated in modern society (such as the idea that chronic stress raises cortisol levels which leads to weight gain or the body simply holding onto fat) that are simply not supported by the bloodwork of people claiming that this is the reason they can’t lose weight. It also made me somewhat sad that a book targeted to women decided to take such an unintelligent approach to describing the science of health and biohacking. While her list of references is quite extensive, I found myself constantly either wanting to check the facts that I read in this book or look up the actual studies first more detail as this book only scratched the surface.
Overall, I would recommend this book to women who are at the beginning of their biohacking journey. The title, though, implies that the reader already has some knowledge of biohacking and will be disappointed. I do commend Agie, though, for providing information related specifically to women in a space where male is considered default.
If I were to describe this book in one word, it would be: kind. This is a kind book - a very rare thing when it comes to non-fiction, especially self-help and wellness. Usually, authors promote their idea or method through 300 pages of the same concept recycled over and over again. I want books like this one; I want meta-analyses. Funny how the one thing people seem to dislike about this book is what I believe is its biggest strength.
There is so much I have learned from this book and my spirits stayed high throughout it. I like Aggie as a coach - she leads with compassion and spirituality. I share many of her beliefs, so her approach feels right. For someone who thrives on a tougher, more aggressive approach, this might not be for you.
What lowers the rating of this book for me is the writing. I know that Aggie’s mission is to make this information as accessible as possible, so the writing is very simplistic and tries to make you feel as though you’re talking to a friend. At times, I was in awe of the metaphors she used to explain scientific concepts and her abstract thinking skills (which many doctors lack). But at other times, it felt too unserious - for example, when she would randomly compliment her partner. For the next book, I would like the tone to be just a little more serious.
I've been waiting for this book release as seeing Aggie's drastic change made me really want to follow all her protocols and see how they work for me too, she'sa great example for her own work... I've been following biohacking protocols in general for so long, checking here and there all resources about it, I even listened to hundreds of podcasts but I always needed to research some terms look around or listen again as I don't get what is being said with all the weird scientific terms! Thank you Aggie for translating the world of biohacking to simple people and helping us learn faster.. I am thrilled about this book as it dives into biohacking for women in specific it makes it clear from the begnining how the complicated women body needs a "biohacking for women" world by itself... something only us women would understand...
I would gift this book to every women out there struggling with all the imposed diet ideas we are not supposed to follow as they're not just a struggle that our bodies screaming at us to stop , but they're even against all our body mechanism that all this pushing at ourselves and the unnecessary hard work ends up destroying our bodies on the long run... I'm grateful to be one of the first people to put my hands on it
I have read, listened to and thought a lot about healthy living and making my body one that will last. This book incorporated so many things I believed worked for me so clearly and concisely. I loved reading it and it was the easiest non fiction book I have ever read. Aggie inspired, she clarified things, she made it so simple to add biohacking to my life in a way that works for me. I love that she also incorporates the importance of bio-slacking. She answered questions I had of Intermittent Fasting, eating and moving to match women’s cycles and the importance of sleep. I loved it and read it in two days! I was also able to tweak some of my good daily habits immediately! Thank you Aggie!
Absolutely amazing book! If you are curious about the bio hacking universe, and interested in improving your health in one way or another, then this is the perfect book to get started. Aggie manages to take the complexity of how the body functions, and the impact different foods, exercise etc. has on your body, and break it down into simple language.
What I love about this books is that it is very visual, and with a very down to earth language making it fun to read as well. Though you are learning about a complex universe, it does not feel like a hardcore academic book. And that’s why this is the best book you could spend your money on!
This book as some good nuggets of tips here and there, but most of the book is just fluffy woo-woo girl power affirmations. Not only that but don’t trust the reviews here or on Amazon. Aggie asked her followers to write reviews *Even if they never even read the book*, and also misled her pre-sale customers by never even shipping their books while giving Amazon customers first dibs on shipments. Much of the stuff in this book was also lifted from a book called Fast like a girl by Dr. Mindy Pelz, and no credit was given
The book primarily focuses on how to eat smart, without starvation, and still lose weight. Some of the topics were interesting, but treated superficially. There is also some promoting of her courses and supplements which aligns with the current trends. I was shocked when reading that there are some “biohackers” that take up to 80 different supplements a day because “Our diets miss the nutrients and vitamins we need to feel our best, and supplements are the quickest and most direct way to make up that deficit.”. Must be really tiresome living such a life.
This is a much-needed book in the male-dominated world of biohacking.
The author presents a nuanced, bespoke, self-loving approach as evidenced by her call to "love your fat" in the first chapter.
The book is presented according to her 4 levels of becoming a Biohacker: Level 1: The When/Timing Level 2: What and What Not to Eat Level 3: Embrace Your Cycle Level 4: Live Like a Biohacker
Not everything shared is evidence-based but there is enough good stuff in here to make a difference!
If you’re someone who’s new to biohacking and mindful living this book can be an easy digestible resource to start on. If you’re someone who’s already a biohacker and is up to date with all the new trends and science, and work on your mind, body and soul, there might not be anything new for you, maybe just a reminder and structure if that’s what you’re looking for. I personally didn’t learn anything but don’t feel it would be fair to give it low rating because I think Aggie has done a good job explaining basic things and given tips on where to start and where to grow from.
This book is a really good simple guide to living a better, healthier life through Biohacking. Unfortunately I personally already knew a lot of the things described in the book by following Aggie herself as well as the other people she references in the book on social media. I therefore didn't have a big aha moment but I think it is a really summary.
If you're new to Biohacking this is definitely a great start!
I really liked this book and learned a lot. I gave it 4/5 stars because I did feel as though additional explanation was lacking on certain points. Also, there were random analogies (like the Super Mario Brother game) that were a little bizarre and felt very random. I made several notes while reading this book and was able to apply positive changes to my life right away. I think this is one of those books that I will read again in a few months and continue to go back to for a refresher.
As I’m getting older and my body is changing, I keep liking to read different ways on how to have better energy make better choices so it talked about intermediate fasting, which I’ve never really considered, but it just kind of made me look at things a little bit differently gave me some new ideas it also made me want to look into breath work more. It’s always good to find ways to keep up with the healthy living in life and to feel your best.
I loved this book! Aggie introduces many concepts (which are actually not new) compiled into convincing arguments on why biohacking might be just the right thing for you to do. Since I’ve read her book, I’m more mindful of what I eat when and I started observing certain patterns that help me to feel better. The main takeaway is that you can really eat what you want (as I love sweets and Nutella) but the order and timing matters!
A collection of tips that feel like common knowledge to anyone interested in health. Many of the suggestions are impractical in real life, such as eating parts of meals in a specific order (try doing that with a stew or a pasta). It also contains a bunch of advertisement of own suplement company.
The narration was pleasant, almost like listening to a podcast, but the content wasn’t life-changing. If you're already into health, you probably won't find much new here.
