From beloved storyteller Anna Dewdney comes the perfect seasonal a Llama Llama Halloween board book!
In Llama Llama Trick or Treat , little llama finds the perfect costume, picks out a pumpkin for a jack-o’-lantern, and then goes trick-or-treating with Mama and his friends!
With short and simple rhyming text, the Llama Llama board books introduce Llama Llama to babies and toddlers before they’re ready for longer full-length stories. And their small size and durable pages are perfect for little hands.
Anna Dewdney was an award-winning children's-book author, illustrator, teacher, mother, and enthusiastic proponent of literacy and reading aloud to children. She was the author of the bestselling Llama Llama Red Pajama series of picturebooks, among many others. She lived with her partner Reed Duncan in Vermont where she worked, gardened, and spent time with her daughters and dogs.
I think these board books are one of my favourite series of board books. They're short, but they're so cute. With excellent meter and rhyme, they'd be perfect for reading aloud. And it doesn't hurt that Llama Llama and his friends are absolutely adorable.
Highly recommended for the youngest of readers, especially if you're looking for toddler-friendly books for Halloween.
This is the second favorite board book my young readers wanted to revisit. I think it's the simple, but charming rhyme text that makes it memorable for them, since they can still recite the whole book. It's also shows Llama getting ready for Halloween - picking out the perfect costume, finding just the right pumpkin and carving it into a Jock-O'-Lantern, putting candy in a bowl for trick-or-treaters - all the typical things that most kids also do to get ready for Halloween. The rhyme works, the illustrations are sweet and done in Halloween colors.
Llama Llama has become a very popular children’s series. And what’s not to love? Adorable illustrations, animal characters (not so commonly-used creatures, too!), relatable childish behavior displayed by main character, and fun rhymes!
This board book was gifted to my infant son (by my cousin), and it has all the elements that make it a quick, enjoyable read. I say “quick” with a positive connotation, because my baby doesn’t sit still for very long. Storytime has got to have a lively pace, because if a page has too much text, he turns past before I’m done reading aloud. Silly boy! Someday he’ll learn to appreciate the words just as much, if not more, than the pictures.
This was a cute, short Halloween themed book. My daughter enjoyed this one, and we’ll probably reread it before we have to bring it back to the library.
I love how easy this book was to read, and it wasn’t long, so it’ll be quick and easy to reread. This is a fun book, and isn’t really for educational purposes, but that’s okay. We still enjoyed this book!
Definitely recommend this book for younger children.
Browsing books to give my friends' children as gifts since I won't gift anything I haven't first read myself.
Llama Llama for the cradle crowd. This covers all the holiday traditions of Halloween in a non-frightening way for the littlest readers in a gentle rhyming text. The only star deduction was for lack of any real originality, but when you're reading to someone who literally "just got here" everything is original to them, right?
For all of the Llama fans out there, Llama is going trick or treating. Some of the other Board Books in this series have not been my favorite, but this one is more aligned with the original and is long enough to entertain, but short enough for short attention spans. Not a lot of text, which is great for short attention spans and so the illustrations can shine.
Just like all the other Llama Llama books; always enjoyable. This is a big hit with my 2-year-old right now, but my 5-year-old will still sit and listen to these. He and I agreed that Llama Llama chose a kind of lame Halloween costume, though. A vampire isn't very exciting.
This story would be great to have in your classroom during late fall. The illustrations are very detailed and entertaining to look at! This story shows different activities that are associated with Halloween. This book would be best used for individual reading rather than a whole group reading.
Llama Llama books are adorable and I love the pictures but Zoe is getting a little older and the short board books are not holding up as well as the larger, longer stories.
This cute Halloween story is another adorable book in the Llama Llama series that toddlers will adore. five stars from me and a "Read it again, Grandma" from the little one.
Seemed like it was barely a book. I think it would fit fine for kids learning to read since it's so few words but it didn't work well for kids being read to.
