This guide does what it's supposed to do. I've used it a few times. I'd love to go back and use it again and maybe actually finish the game. But here I am, being a slacker and putting my adult responsibilities first. The art is lovely.
This is a fantastic guidebook, probably the most useful guidebook that I've ever used besides an unofficial guidebook for Super Mario 64, an official guidebook for Donkey Kong Country 3, an Ocarina of Time guidebook for Nintendo, and the official Kingdom Hearts II guidebook (I feel).
After using BradyGames' excellent guides for a host of other FF games, they've really dropped the ball here. Why doesn't this guide have maps for everywhere or explain how to find rare items that are required to make the best weapons? The typeface for the "Hunts" section is painfully tiny and placed immediately after the final boss strategy page which makes it nearly impossible to avoid revealing who/what it is. In general, the organization of the sections, and where certain content is placed (the only place you can find maps of certain areas are splashed throughout the sidequests section), felt way out of whack. I found myself having to reference free online faqs way too often. Not that the guide isn't helpful, just not nearly enough.
I would love the guide more if the sidequest information were more accurate. I swear by it if you want to strictly get through the plot, though I tried to get some side stuff done for extra items/story and information was incorrect.
My friend and I were left floundering, though thankfully we figured it out.
Unfortunately compared to other guides this one isn't the best. I'd swear by the one for FFX before I would with this one.
I cling to it mainly as of the FF titles XII is my favourite.
Though I wouldn't consider my copy in 'poor' condition...more 'well used/loved'.
This guide is extremely informative if you're looking for extra hunts and side story line for the game. Final Fantasy XII is certainly straight-forward enough to not need any "cheats," so I recommend this for the gamer who wants to spend almost 200 hours uncovering all of the game's detail.
This book is really good [and so is the game] this book gives good info about the game to help you through the hardest parts of the game. this book really helped me out when i needed help on the game.
I only used this after completing the game, but it definitely made it fun to replay and catch up on everything that I missed. Plus, the poster it came with was super awesome to have in my room.
