I thought this might be a good cookbook to be able to try out some cookie recipes without making 3 or 4 dozen. But I think it's a little too small batch - I want more than 6 cookies, especially if they're good! There is a wide variety of cookies here but I personally would prefer recipes that make a dozen.

I was stupidly excited for this book when he announced it and after reading it cover to cover that level of excitement remains. There are so many great recipes in here and the concept behind the small bakes is brilliant. You have a little left of a random type of chocolate chip? A number of the recipes will use it up. Maybe I really want a cookie but do I want three dozen? This is sure to be used on many a rainy Sunday and I can’t wait to get started. 10/10

Consistent with Kimber’s other book (Small Batch Bakes) which I reviewed in 2022, this book is again geared toward producing treats for just a few people or servings and also includes the usual preface material includes comments on ingredients recommended, freezing instructions, the basics one must understand, and the preferred equipment as each recipe is clear and concise with measurements in both grams and cups. Good instructions with brief introductions and bright, clear photographs accompany each recipe. I think making a few cookies is as almost as much work as making a larger batch; however, for the right audience/baker, this is a great addition to their baking shelf. I will be trying his recipe for Peanut Butter Cup Cookies—done in a muffin tin for sure. For those who enjoy cookie or bar desserts and cookbooks by Christina Tosi, Sarah Kieffer, and Zoë François.

3.5 rounded up because I do love Edd.

I made Giant Thin and Crispy Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies (baked in air fryer, slightly decreased granulated sugar amount). The dough tasted almost better than the baked cookie? Fun little late-night project.

Yields and portions are inaccurate sometimes. (e.g., Roll into 10 balls but makes 4 sandwich cookies)

No timings listed! Many require chilling/rest times. Vegan bakes aren’t all labeled as such—he does usually add a note that you can use dairy-free equivalents.

I wish there was a page like his Small Batch Bakes book that tells you how to use up the leftover egg whites/yolks. Many of these require just a yolk and it’d be nice to have a quick reference point on how to use the other half!

Took photos of some others before returning to library so I’ll update later if I try more.

Some good recipes and great pictures, but too small batches. I live by myself and can't imagine making less than a dozen or two. Most recipes I saw make 4-6 cookies. That's too much work for too few cookies. I'll just keep cutting recipes from my cookie book in half, rather than having to multiply the ones here.

Amazing recipes that include gluten-free friendly cookies.
My favourite flavours are but not limited to;
*Peanut Butter & Miso
*Chai Pumpkin
*Pretzel Caramel
*Lemon Curd (A GF one!)
*Ginger & Lemon Ice Cream
*Chocolate & Peanut Butter (Another GF)

Great resource for those that might not want three dozen cookies that a regular recipe might make. It is extremely hard to get the baking proportions correct for one or two cookies. Kudos to the author.

made about 6 of the recipes
flavors are good, and i wanted to try kore however 1 recipe completely failed, a couple others didn't work as described, and the suggested portions were seemingly random. won't be buying this one
