Holly doesn't have the job her parents expect her to have, she's a receptionist. Her love life is chugging along slowly with her boyfriend, Toby. She has a few office nemeses, but her friendships with Jason and Aisha keep her afloat. When she unexpectedly gets a promotion, even more backstabbing starts. And the worst thing is that Toby hasn't even noticed she has a new job!

The format of the book, being entirely told through emails, made the 525 pages fly by! I wouldn't have thought that a book with a so-called gimmick would be so emotional! I really think that instead of being gimmicky, the author used the format to cut right to the chase, no beating around the bush. You could tell how cold Toby was sometimes by his short, uninterested emails. You could feel the platonic love between Holly and her best friend, Jason. When Toby and Holly had troubled times, it was absolutely heartbreaking and so real to read her emails begging for him not to leave.

The first part of the book is mostly fun and light, then the real scandals come out and the book becomes totally unpredictable!

This is such a fun read, the interesting concept makes it unique. It's definitely women's fiction with a lot of heart.

Nice, quick and fun read. Exactly what I expected from it. It is a emailbook, a medium used back then (this book is from 2008) like we use WhatsApp now, but it is still fun to read this way. For lovers of Sex and the City and Bridget Jones - so like everybody? :)

**Short "End of the month" Review**

I liked this one a little better than the first book. I hate Holly and Toby's relationship. Nothing really there. Then She gets preggo and refuses to tell him, hello, you should say something instead of yelling and kicking him out.

I liked that Holly got a promotion, it seem to put a better head on her shoulders.

There needs to be a 3rd book. I need to know what happens to Holly's debts. Toby mentions she hides bills in her freezer. We need more on this!!! and more on the other developments ;)

A spectacularly fun read!

I honestly couldn't put it down (finished in less than 24hrs!!) It was a nice break from description and narrative. It's more like reading a film-script but this has more layers and depth to characters as we jump into their heads through their penmanship (emails, really). Absolutely enjoyed reading it ~ what's there not to enjoy? Fun, caring coworkers who are constantly there to the rescue; evil rivalry; an awkward love story; and London!!

It reminds me of clumsy Bridget Jones, though a bit toned down.

Holly ist zurück – und wie!

Holly Denham schafft es auch im zweiten Band, die Leser in ihren Bann zu ziehen.
Die Charaktere sind so ziemlich die gleichen geblieben, wie auch im ersten Band. Hinzu kommen noch zwei weitere Kolleginnen, die von nun an an der Rezeption arbeiten. Maria und Claire werden jedoch gut ins Team integriert, sodass man sich dort auf ein paar spaßige Emails freuen kann.

Jedoch muss sich Holly auch in diesem Band mit einer Konkurrentin herumschlagen: Tanya, die Managerin der Catering-Abteilung. Tanya scheint zunächst nett und Holly hofft auf eine gute Freundschaft, jedoch wird dies eine bitter böse Enttäuschung, denn Tanya will nicht nur Hollys neuen Posten als Rezeptions-Managerin, sondern auch Toby.

Toby und Holly, die am Ende des ersten Bandes zusammen kamen, sind nach wie vor glücklich und verliebt, doch leider hat Toby nicht die Zeit, die Holly sich wünscht. Ihre Liebe wird durch Tanya, mangelnder Zeit und einem Geheimnis auf eine harte Probe gestellt.

Aber auch Hollys beste Freunde Jason und Aisha spielen wieder eine große Rolle in ihrem Emailfach, denn Jason bereitet gerade die Trennung von seinem Freund vor und Aisha will mal wieder den Job wechseln. Diesmal will sie Rezeptionistin in der Bank von Hollys Arbeitgeber sein.

Jason ist mein absoluter Lieblingscharakter in diesem Buch. Ich liebe seine flippige Art, oder wie er sagen würde: absolut tuntig.
So versucht er u.a. auch auf kuriose Art und Weise eine signierte Take That CD von Holly zu bekommen, indem er mehrere neue Emailadressen erstellt und sie unter anderem als Mark Owen anschreibt.

Aber auch Trish, Hollys allerliebste Arbeitskollegin schweigt nicht. Während Holly ihren neuen Managerposten antritt und dazu noch schwanger wird, kann sie jederzeit auf ihre schroffe, aber liebenswürdige Arbeitskollegin zählen.
Einen Blick in Trish’s Emailfach darf der Leser auch diesmal werfen. Denn nicht nur Holly hat Kontakt zu Jason. So treffen sich beide immer zu einer kleinen Email-Session, um Holly zu helfen.

„Liebe per Mausklick“ wird allein durch Emails erzählt. Eine tolle Abwechslung zu „normalen“ Romanen. Doch leider sind die knapp 620 Seiten durch diese Form auch sehr schnell gelesen, was ich ein wenig schade finde, denn ich kann von Hollys Emails nicht genug bekommen.

Das Cover ist wunderschön und ähnelt sehr dem ersten Band. Auch der Klappentext ist gelungen und macht Lust auf mehr.

Eine gelungene Fortsetzung. Ich hoffe, es wird auch einen dritten Band geben.

Holly's Inbox was a smash, and the sequel is just as great!

Holly Denham is now living with her love, Toby, and working as a receptionist at DKHuerst. She spends her days emailing her best friends, Jason and Aisha, as well as co-worker Trisha. William from another department is always flirting via email with Holly, but she always stops him cold, she's in love with Toby.

Holly's family emails her all the time as well, and they are an eccentric bunch! Jason is wanting to break it off with his live-in boyfriend Marco and goes to great depths to let him down gently, while Holly finds herself hungover most mornings. Toby keeps going abroad for work and Holly finds herself more and more alone.

She keeps her bills in the freezer (they can't look at her that way) and she is secretly interviewing for a manager position. She doesn't want to tell Trisha (who trained Holly) and has been working there forever. To top it all off, Tanya, the Catering Manager, seems to have it in for Holly. She is consistently putting her down and trying to get Toby's attention.

Holly thinks Toby is having an affair and sets out to catch him doing the dirty. But unfortunately, something else happens and Holly is suddenly overwhelmed from all sides. She'll have to look deep in her heart so see what she really desires.

Holly's Inbox: Scandal in the City is told in email format. The characters are compelling and outrageous as well as the witty repartee. I was in stitches with some of the antics they get up to. If you like chick-lit, or want to be entertained, pick this one up today. Simple outrageous and totally divine!

I'm reading the original now and I really like it. Hope this one is as good...

Update - loved the original and loved the follow-up! I picked this book up from the library on Tuesday and finished it on Wednesday; probably the fastest read ever!! It's written entirely in emails and is completely addictive and fun.

Holly Denham is actually the pen name for a man named Bill Surie who runs a placement service for receptionists and secretaries in London.

This sequel, not normally available in the United States, was definitely worth purchasing used! I thought it was even funnier than the first book, and I laughed out loud throughout the book.

It was also heart-breaking and heart-warming. Good stuff. Highly recommend to fans of chick-lit or humor. :)

I can hardly believe that I hung in there for more than 500 pages! Out-dated format (email) and read more like texting or messaging. Way too many syntactical errors for my liking...does not appear to me that anyone proofread it! Or, that it was selective. Don't publishers realize that computer programs are subject to error? Not able to recommend this book but will donate to a little free library...some unsuspecting soul (like me) may pick it up and give it a go.

It's very entertaining; I caught myself finding the characters to be very likable and realistic, especially for email chains between office friends. It reminds me of something I would watch on the television in the 2000s in New York with my aunt. I have not read the first book because I picked this one up at a thrift shop, but it's a pretty decent book to read for leisure.

I read the first book over 5 years ago, but the second I started this it all came rushing back.

Hollys E-Mail-Postfach wird zum 2ten Mal zum großen Tummelplatz. Eigentlich läuft alles perfekt: Holly ist mit ihrem Traummann Toby liiert, hat die besten Freunde, die man sich denken kann, und auch beruflich geht es für Holly steil nach oben. Von der normalen Rezepzionistin steigt sie die Karriereleiter zur Rezeptionsmanagerin in der Londoner Bank hinauf. Es könnte nicht besser laufen, doch schon bald treffen wieder etliche Skandalnachrichten, Hiobsbotschaften und ominöse anonyme E-Mails in Holly Postfach ein. Natürlich wäre Holly nicht Holly, wenn sie das nicht alles meistern würde. Als sich jedoch Toby plötzlich ziemlich merkwürdig verhält, glaubt sie er verheimlicht ihr etwas und schon bald hat auch sie ein süßes kleines Geheimnis vor ihm...

Holly Denham ist ein Pseudonym. Angefangen hat alles mit ihrem fiktiven Tagebuch auf ihrer Homepage (www.hollysinbox.de). Innerhalb kürzester Zeit hatten sich schon über tausend neugieriger Leser aus über 120 Ländern auf eben dieser registriert. Jeder wollte live miterleben, was Holly jeden Tag Komisches, Tragisches oder Romantisches widerfährt. Nach E-Mail für Holly ist 2008 (Originalausgabe) auch endlich die Fortsetzung erschienen.

Nach dem ersten Teil, E-Mail für Holly, habe ich mich riesig auf die Fortsetzung gefreut. Und natürlich ist auch diese wieder äußerst witzig, frech und ebenso temporeich, wie der erste Teil. Irgendwie witzig fande ich es, dass es hier, ebenso wie im ersten Teil, nur eine einzige Stelle gibt an der ich meine Beherrschung vollends verloren habe und mich nicht mehr vor lachen halten konnte. Vielleicht liegt es mit daran, dass ich mir die Dinge durch und durch bildlich vorstelle, es war jedenfalls schön. Holly Denhams Schreibstil amüsiert den Leser köstlich und ihre Anekdoten sind einfach nur göttlich, allerdings hat Liebe per Mausklick leider auch einen Haken. Es ist nämlich wie im ersten Teil: Holly ist glücklich, bekommt einen neuen Job, verliert den Job, durchlebt eine Trennung, kämpft um ihren Job und tada - sie gewinnt. An dieser Stelle hör ich viele schon sagen, ja so ist eben das Chick Lit Genre. Sicherlich ist das richitg und es spricht ja auch nichts dagegen, aber Liebe per Mausklick kann man als Kopie von E-Mail für Holly bezeichnen. Lediglich ein paar wenige Personen (und logischer Weise spielt das Ganze ca. ein knappes Jahr später) wurden ersetzt, aber die Charaktereigenschaften sind gleich geblieben - wirklich schade! Da wäre z.B. die böse Tanya Mason (zu vergleichen aus E-Mail für Holly mit Jennie Pithwait) und Natasha Springer (zu vergleichen mit Shella Hamilton-Jones). Erstgenannte ist die böse Nebenbuhlerin, die es auf Hollys Freund abgesehen hat und Holly aus der Firma haben will, und die Zweite ist die böse Hexe der Firma, die aber gar nicht so böse ist. Diese recht starken und großen Parallelen haben mich doch leider sehr enttäuscht.

Wer E-Mail für Holly nicht gelesen hat, der wird hier in diesem Buch eine Menge Spaß haben und sich freuen können. Wer jedoch E-Mail für Holly kennt, der sollte es sich sehr gut überlegen und es reicht wenn er die letzten 150 Seiten liest.
