Snowed in For Christmas by Sarah Morgan in a 2022 HQN publication.
Lucy, Ross, Alice, Nico, Clemmie, Fergus, Glenda, Douglas and last, but not least, Nanna Jean have all gathered for Christmas- except that Lucy is an unexpected guest, having found herself trapped there by a vicious winter storm after she pulls an in person ‘cold call’ with Ross Miller, the CEO of ‘Miller Active’, which specializes in activewear, desperately hoping to snag a new and lucrative account.
Lucy has idealized the Miller family- but soon discovers their ‘perfect family’ image isn’t as perfect as it seems. The Millers also have their share of personal resentments, broken dreams, and doubts and fears- just like everyone else…
I love Sarah Morgan- she’s one of my ‘go-to’ contemporary fiction/ romance authors, these days. Knowing this author, I knew the book would have depth and might not necessarily have the light festive atmosphere of other Christmas themed stories.
Don’t get me wrong, the issues are not all that heavy, really, but… the story is heavy on the drama, if that makes sense. This is SM’s style, no matter what the calendar says. In fact, with a calendar change and few tweaks here and there, this book would work just as well as a 'beach read'. So, while there are holiday festivities- the story does have a bit more levity.
I admit I got caught up in the Miller’s lives, and their various concerns and relationship woes- it was pretty good stuff. If I must make a complaint, it would be that the story was too busy. I’m ashamed to admit that for a while there I almost completely forgot all about poor injured Lucy, who was left alone for an inordinate amount of time. In fact, the characters seemed to have realized this at about the same time I did- and thankfully, Lucy was checked on- and was woven back into the story. So- yes, a few too many POVs and characters, perhaps.
I also thought that Clemmie and Alice’s issues might have been wrapped up a little faster, as well as the Ross/Douglas/Glenda thread- because all these characters have a long history with their family and prospective partners, whereas Lucy and Ross only just met, and spent precious little time alone. Their banter was not terribly playful or sharp the few times they did have a convo, and their romance was terribly rushed.
That said, Morgan is a seasoned pro, and she was able to adeptly bring all the threads together with satisfaction and with a nice happily ever after!
All’s well that ends well, right?

Oh-and just one more thing, Nanna Jean deserves a special mention as she very nearly stole the entire show!! I loved her!

the setup…
Lucy Clarke works for a London-based marketing agency that’s more like family than an employer. Unfortunately, they are all facing the possibility of layoffs because of the loss of two major accounts, despite the valiant efforts of their benevolent leader. Lucy decides to make a desperate pitch for a major account, Miller Active, a sportswear company led by CEO Ross Miller even though her agency probably isn’t on the approved prospect list. It’s almost Christmas and his family home is Glen Lodge in the Scottish Highlands so Lucy decides she’ll combine a trip there to develop another project with a visit to Glen Lodge and deliver off her proposal in person. Meanwhile, the Miller siblings meet to plan their visit home and how to avoid their mother Glenda and grandmother Nanna Jean’s prying into their personal lives. Alice is a doctor who is bringing Nico, a cardiac surgeon and the man she’s been dating for nine months, home for the holidays. Clemmie, the youngest, has a major secret she plans to share when she arrives. And Ross is dreading confrontations with his father, Douglas, who helms the family business, Glen Shortbread, and expected him to take his place, not go his own way.
the heart of the story…
Obviously there’s a lot going on as Lucy thought she was dropping in on an idyllic family at Christmas, one she’s yearned for since the death of her beloved grandmother two years ago. She has no other family and the holidays are hard and lonely. It all gets further complicated when she arrives before Ross and the family seems to believe she’s his new girlfriend. It’s pretty hilarious, especially the delightful but unfiltered Nanna Jean who makes it clear that she wants to see some great grandchildren. When a snowstorm sets in and traps everyone, including Lucy, it makes for interesting dynamics and not everything is lighthearted and cozy. There are real issues going on between Alice and Nico that threaten their relationship. Clemmie’s announcement causes some friction and Glenda feels as if she hasn’t served her children well. Ross and his father continue to struggle, both operating from misconceptions about the other. What looks like the ideal family on the outside is just another normal family dealing with the same issues everyone else has to face.
the narration…
This was quite the challenge to manage such a diverse group of characters in ages and regional dialects and the narrator met that challenge. Her storytelling skills were wonderful, conveying the right emotions, highs and lows, throughout. She made this a more interesting reading experience.
the bottom line…
I love these type of stories, especially in a holiday setting. What better place for it to happen but in the Scottish Highlands at Christmas in a snowstorm. The Miller family was intriguing on its own but I also found Lucy to be a compelling character who yearned for family and relationship. I always look forward to the author’s annual holiday stories and this one just kept me in my happy place. She nailed the family issues and softened them by adding comic relief through Nanna Jean, though underneath all her shenanigans was sage wisdom. The romances were complicated but I rooted for all of them. This was a wonderful listening experience to prime me for the upcoming holiday season.

It wasn’t the main characters that did it— it was the plethora of other characters, most of whom just drove me crazy.
Make a decision already— the endless self-doubt drives me bonkers. Usually the kiss of a DNF literary death for me.
The irony isn’t lost on me that here I am reviewing a holiday romance with not much holiday cheer. Maybe next year, I’ll have better luck!!

Snowed In for Christmas by Sarah Morgan is a wonderful Christmas contemporary romance that is full of family mayhem and memories. The story in Snowed In for Christmas is one that is told by changing the point of view between the various characters to show all sides.
It is almost Christmas and the Miller family is holding their big holiday get together with the three adult children coming home to their parents home to celebrate. with all three siblings, Ross, Alice, and Clemmie living in London they do get together quite often and during one of their dinners before returning home they contemplate giving Ross a pretend girlfriend to please their mother who worries of his dating life.
Lucy Clarke is very good at her job in marketing, so good in fact that she was featured in a magazine article, the very same article that the Miller siblings plucked the name of Ross’ pretend girlfriend. Little do they all know that pretend woman plucked from the pages of a magazine will show up at the family home looking to join Ross in a business venture surprising everyone for the holiday.
When I first saw Snowed In for Christmas by Sarah Morgan I knew that I just had to read it having loved several other books I had read from the author before. Sure enough once I picked this one up I fell right into the snowy Christmas magic that came alive from the pages. I loved that this one featured not only the romance but the whole family and all of what came from each of their different paths in life. Definitely one that kept the pages turning right until the end.

I look forward to Sarah Morgan’s Christmas book every single year. In SNOWED IN FOR CHRISTMAS 🎅, Lucy is struggling both at work and with the prospect of a Christmas with no family. She takes a gamble by dropping a proposal off at the house of a client. Due to a mix up, the client’s sisters have told his mother and grandmother she’s his girlfriend. They persuade Lucy to stay and due to a snowstorm, she agrees. I love Christmas books 🎄 set in the Scottish Highlands, and this book had lovely snowy atmosphere❄❄, meddling but loveable family members, a cute dog(!) and interesting story arcs for all the siblings who are struggling in their own way. 5/5 stars.

Snowed In for Christmas is the first book I've read by author Sarah Morgan. Deemed a romance novel, I'd better categorize it as a family drama where romance is an important subplot. Two parents, a grandmother, and three twentyish/thirtyish kids. All the kids are single, except one's bringing home her new boyfriend. Each has a secret they want to keep, and the father is struggling to retire because none of his kids wants to work in the family business (now 6 generations strong). So... they finally come home for the holiday and a snowstorm locks them inside for a week. Just as Lucy, a marketer with a deal she needs to get signed, shows up and steps into confusion. The family thinks she's one of the kids girlfriends. The grandmother is playing matchmaker. And the mother is just feeling terrible that all her kids don't want to come home anymore. Why?
Writing style was good; fluid and full of understandable, realistic dialog. Not a lot of excessive imagery, but tons of beautiful scene-setting for a wintery Scottish Christmas. The POV changes each chapter, and occasionally the "I" and "You" get confusing when you hop thru the characters, but mostly this is because the writer creates memorable characters that you don't want to forget, so when you start a new chapter, you're still totally focused on the previous one. Biggest concerns was that there was too tidy of an ending with everything coming together in a happy manner, but that's the point of this type of book, so I definitely dug it nonetheless. Based on this book alone, I'd read more from the author...

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]
I find it funny that there is not a full synopsis here on Goodreads not that it would make a huge difference since it was kind of faulty advertisement for the book.
What I expected : A heartfelt romance between a lonely woman named Lucy whose trying to save her advertising job by landing a new big client, Ross Miller. She shows up at his families home and is mistaken for his girlfriend. A slipper fall and a snow storm have her stuck at his house, where she finds more than a new client.
What I got: Half a dozen female point of views. Lucy, both of Ross' sisters and his mother. No point of view for Ross, but it wasn't needed because this wasn't Lucy and Ross's holiday romance story. (Lucy and Ross don't even meet until 40 % into the damn book!) This is a holiday contemporary fiction story following 4 woman as they navigate personal drama.
Was this book bad? No, but I didn't pick it up because I wanted a holiday fiction story. I picked it up under the assumption it was a holiday romance with a meet cute and snowed in scenario that would lead to a swoony connection. I was given none of the sort, so I am disappointed to say the least.

Sweet, emotional, crazy family, Christmas story.

The best part about a Christmas Romance is that you know you are going to get a Happily Ever After.
This story gave me all of the feels. The author added so much to this crazy family story. She captured it all perfectly with all of the chaos. Grandma saying whatever she wants. People are on edge trying not to spill secrets. It all sounds so familiar! I have even been the outsider at someone’s Christmas day celebration, so I get that one… Never again!
You can easily visualize everything! Morgan captures the beauty of the setting and the slightly imperfect family Christmas story with love on the horizon!
A delightful clean romance that reads like a holiday movie! You are going to enjoy the crazy, sweet, chaos of this Snowed In for Christmas!

“Snowed in for Christmas” is Sarah Morgan’s latest women’s fiction novel and is her festive offering for 2022.
- “She’s snowed in with the family. The only problem? They’re not her family…”
I fell in love instantly with every character in this book, Lucy was so endearing with her warm hearted attitude and the Millers were just the perfect fiction family.
The story is centred around Lucy and her dedication to her boss and close friend Arnie and in saving his company from making redundancies at Christmas. I fell in love instantly with every character in this book, Lucy was so endearing with her warm hearted attitude and the Millers were just the perfect fiction family.

Sarah Morgan's Christmas novels are an auto-buy for me. I love the way she writes characters, interweaving family sagas, and romantic subplots with the perfect amount of coziness. Snowed in for Christmas delivers the same thing, this time set in the Scottish Highlands with a fun twist of a character being mistaken for someone's girlfriend!
It's worth noting that while these books have romantic sub-plots, they are not genre romances. So a lot of less than stellar reviews of this book seem to be people who went in expecting a full romance and instead got more general/women's fiction with romantic elements. But if you go in knowing what it is, I think this is a winner. It was exactly what I wanted.

A family Christmas set in pleasing and snowy Scotland is crashed by Lucy when she is first mistakenly welcomed as Ross’ girlfriend, then breaks her ankle in a snowstorm. The story starts off with secrets and tension, but love and understanding in the end saves the day.

This book started off a bit flat but improved as the story went on. I think I would like a seat at the table
The Miller siblings all live in London but are all going home to their remote family home in the highlands of Scotland. They are all carrying a secret that they want to keep firmly to their chest.
Ross - owns a successful fitness company, although he has dated his priority is his work and he knows he will be asked about his love life which he wants to avoid
Alice - is a busy doctor who is a perfectionist and she has her first serious relationship with a heart surgeon who gets all her offish manner. This year is different because she has invited her boyfriend for Christmas. Things get derailed as she overthinks a huge decision.
Clemmie - The youngest who has none of the ambition of her siblings, she is a highly sought after Nanny a job her mother has never understood why she needed to go to London because of all her kids Clemmie was the one who was more suited to live in the highlands. Clemmie has her reasons
The siblings meet up prior to their trip to work out subjects to avoid. They decide to concoct an imaginary girlfriend for Ross and pick a random name for his girlfriend Lucy.
Lucy - not part of the family but works for a London based marketing company who have suffered a blow which will threaten jobs. Lucy dreads this time of year as she lost her parents when she was younger and more recently her gran brought her up now she is alone.
Lucy has an assignment in Scotland and armed with the knowledge that Ross Miller is looking for different marketing companies she decides to jump the gun and deliver her hand wrapped proposal right to his home. She knows his assistant hence knowing he will be in Scotland at the same time. She really wants to make an impression although it is risky. How hard can it be knowing all she has to do is hand deliver it with a view to save jobs.
When she turns up at the house Ross is not home but it appears the family seemed to have been expecting her, with Nanna Jean extending her hospitality the girls remain open mouthed as their imaginary girlfriend for Ross is in their house bearing the same name so funny, especially when Ross arrives lol.
Well there is plenty of Christmas drama and outbursts and Nanna Jean the most outspoken member of the family. This continues as they become snowed in especially as Lucy is trapped with them….

I love reading a Sarah Morgan novel and especially love this festive tradition of a new Christmas book each year! It’s a guaranteed cracking read and this story is absolutely perfect for the festive season.
This book was so heart-warming but not saccharine. I loved seeing the transformation of the characters and found myself sharing their emotions along the way – by the end of the novel, I was grinning like a Cheshire cat! What makes this book so enjoyable is that Morgan doesn’t just focus on the children of the Miller family. The narrative perspective shifts between Lucy, Clemmie, Alice and then the girl’s mother, Glenda. Yes, it is told all from female viewpoints, but I liked the difference in generations and the role they have within the Miller household. In my opinion, this helped to make the story more interesting because of the varied interpretation of how family life was playing out in this secluded lodge in Scotland.
Morgan could not have portrayed a more idyllic setting. Isolated by the dumpings of snow thanks to Storm Scrooge, the family are pretty much cut-off from the rest of the world. On one level, it felt like the makings of a Hallmark movie, especially as the Miller family home is described as such a perfect place to spend a family Christmas. All that was missing was a few reindeer (although they do feature at some point in the narrative too).
There’s a fair amount of emotion running through this story, underpinned by what it means to be a family. Glenda, the mother of the family, assumes she knows her children very well – except she is completely unaware of all of their secrets. Furthermore, Clemmie, Alice and Ross hold a ‘sibling pow-wow’ in London before travelling home: to ensure that parts of their adult life remain private from their parents. As events unfold in Scotland, Glenda faces a tough lesson in understanding how her children have grown and what is means to be a parent to adults.
As I have come to expect from a Sarah Morgan novel, there is always romance that runs throughout the story. Not being privy to Nico or Ross’s feelings was quite interesting; readers rely on the female characters and how they believe their connection is progressing. I thought this was really effective and meant there was less emphasis on love and more on character development. Indeed, readers get a true understanding of Clemmie, Alice and Lucy’s personalities and the significant choices they have made in the lead-up to Christmas.
I really enjoyed this new novel and tried to make sure I didn’t read it too quickly so I could delay the ending! It was too difficult of course, and I found myself absorbed by the narrative. The dilemmas of the characters made for an engrossing read and I was keen to see how a happy-ever-after would be reached. Morgan did not disappoint, of course, making this a perfect candidate for a Christmas read. Highly recommended.

Snowed In for Christmas by Sarah Morgan is an emotional story of love and family. I loved this heartwarming story full of family drama.
Lucy Clarke is a young and ambitious marketing professional who loves her job, but, business isn’t good right now, and she knows her boss will have to lay some folks off soon if the business doesn’t pick up. She’s worried because it’s the best job she’s ever had and she gets along with everyone at work and has the best boss she’s ever had. Lucy has had her share of grief in her life, her parents died when she was young, and her grandmother raised her, but she died two years ago, leaving Lucy without any family.
The three adult children in the Miller family all live in London, and their family home is up in Scotland. Ross, Alice, and Clemmie all conspire to hide secrets from their overprotective mother before they go home for Christmas. Ross doesn’t want to listen to his mother ask him about his love life again, so he makes up a fictional girlfriend named Lucy. Alice’s boyfriend Nico just proposed marriage, but she hasn’t said yes yet, and she doesn’t want her parents to know about the proposal. Clemmie has her own secret that she won’t even tell to her siblings.
Lucy decides to bring her marketing proposal to Scotland where Ross Miller lives in order to ensure he sees it before January. She only wants to stop by and drop off the proposal, but a huge snowstorm makes it impossible to leave. With all the Miller family chaos over the holidays, which secrets will get out, and how will this family cope?
There are a lot of characters in this book, but not too many. They are all well developed and I enjoyed them all. The family home in Scotland sounds wonderful, as well as the nearby little village. With the big snowstorm, everything is decorated for Christmas and gives the book a nice heartwarming feel.

I was kindly sent this from Harper Collins/HQ Stories back in October (but not asked to write a review!) and knew I wanted to save it for Christmas. What a perfect, cosy book it was! I loved all the family, especially Nanna Jean. I didn’t love how Clemmie’s story was rushed at the end, but otherwise it was everything I wanted in a Christmas book. I found it so easy and enjoyable to read, finished in 4 days from 23rd-26th December. My first Sarah Morgan but I look forward to reading more from her next year.

Malheureusement j’ai pas accroché. De base, les romans de Sarah Morgan sont toujours assez lents et avec pas mal de blablas mais là, malgré l’histoire intéressante, c’était juste TROP lent et TROP de blablas. Et je ne vous parle même pas de la fin qui rushe tout, surtout en ce qui concerne l’histoire de Clemmie. Bref, petite déception pour moi qui ai tant aimé les précédents romans de cette autrice…

50/50 charming and annoying.
A (sort of dysfunctional) family full of people having difficulties communicating, while making up issues for themselves that turn out to not be all that remarkable when finally faced, didn't exactly win me over. The family bickering made me mostly tired, to be honest, but mainly because almost all the "problems" were things that could be solved if anyone actually opened their mouth to talk about it, just a little.
The romances were many and all over the place. Not sure I bought them all, but there's so many characters in this book that they don't really get a chance to develop much of a depth. In fact, they all feel like the supporting cast to the actual main character - which is Christmas itself.
The best character out of them all was the grandmother though.
I liked her! But then again... She was the only one actually speaking her mind all the time, so of course I did. 😂

After reading Snowed In For Christmas I want to be snowed in at the Millers house so bad. I long for a family and they are the best family to be a part of. This lodge has my name all over it and I must say, this book was unputdownable (yes that is a word) lol.

Lucy Clarke loves her job and in the social media/advertising firm she works. Her co-workers and boss feel like family, so important to hear since she lost her beloved grandmother. Unfortunately, they’ve lost a few major clients. In order to keep the company afloat Lucy’s hunting down new clients and Ross Miller is at the top of her list. Trouble is he’s almost impossible to get ahold of, but she knows Ross will be spending Christmas at the family’s lodge in Scotland. She plans to pop over and drop off her proposal and head back to London to spend Christmas alone. However, the weather has other plans for Lucy.
Siblings Ross, Alice and Clemmie are headed back to the family home in Scotland for the holidays. But pressure to couple up, start producing grandchildren and join in the family business make them anxious about the visit.
Glenda Miller is excited and anxious for her kids to visit, but she’s determined to keep quiet about their relationship status. She loves her children and wants them to be happy no matter how they choose to spend their lives. At eighty-six, Nana Jean, Glenda’s mother-in-law, has no such qualms. If she thinks something should be said to help set the Miller’s on the path to happiness she’s doesn’t mind speaking up. Nana Jean was a hoot and she cracked me the heck up! I loved her straight talking!
In addition to Lucy’s story/POV, there were a few plot lines/POVs here:
Alice Miller, an ER doctor who loves her job, bringing a boyfriend home for the first time and anxious about the message it sends and assumptions her family will make. Alice may be good at her job, but not so great with personal relationships, which puts her romance in jeopardy.
Glenda Miller, patriarch of the Miller clan was such a loving and accepting mother, but worried about driving her kids away. I loved the relationship she had with her husband and mother-in-law!
Clemmie Miller, youngest of the Miller children, a child-care specialist with a big announcement she’s nervous to share. Her romance was one of unrequited love, one of my favorite tropes!
Snowed in for Christmas was such a delight! I loved the big Miller family even with their struggles it was evident they loved each other, and I loved how they all welcomed Lucy in at this vulnerable time in her life. She needed the extra care and love, and a bit of romance, of course! I love Sarah Morgan’s stories. I’d classify Snowed in for Christmas as part womens fiction, part romance. Her talented writing brought the characters to life with real-feeling, relatable emotions and I rooted for each and every one of them to find their joy! Loved the dreamy, winter wonderland setting, too! Definite recommend!

Siblings Ross, Alice and Clemmie are headed back to the family home in Scotland for the holidays. But pressure to couple up, start producing grandchildren and join in the family business make them anxious about the visit.
Glenda Miller is excited and anxious for her kids to visit, but she’s determined to keep quiet about their relationship status. She loves her children and wants them to be happy no matter how they choose to spend their lives. At eighty-six, Nana Jean, Glenda’s mother-in-law, has no such qualms. If she thinks something should be said to help set the Miller’s on the path to happiness she’s doesn’t mind speaking up. Nana Jean was a hoot and she cracked me the heck up! I loved her straight talking!
In addition to Lucy’s story/POV, there were a few plot lines/POVs here:
Alice Miller, an ER doctor who loves her job, bringing a boyfriend home for the first time and anxious about the message it sends and assumptions her family will make. Alice may be good at her job, but not so great with personal relationships, which puts her romance in jeopardy.
Glenda Miller, patriarch of the Miller clan was such a loving and accepting mother, but worried about driving her kids away. I loved the relationship she had with her husband and mother-in-law!
Clemmie Miller, youngest of the Miller children, a child-care specialist with a big announcement she’s nervous to share. Her romance was one of unrequited love, one of my favorite tropes!
Snowed in for Christmas was such a delight! I loved the big Miller family even with their struggles it was evident they loved each other, and I loved how they all welcomed Lucy in at this vulnerable time in her life. She needed the extra care and love, and a bit of romance, of course! I love Sarah Morgan’s stories. I’d classify Snowed in for Christmas as part womens fiction, part romance. Her talented writing brought the characters to life with real-feeling, relatable emotions and I rooted for each and every one of them to find their joy! Loved the dreamy, winter wonderland setting, too! Definite recommend!

Once again Sarah Morgan has managed to craft the perfect festive read - it's warm and cosy, heartwarming, full of romance, a spectacular setting, a family I fell in love with, and lashings of shortbread and snow. It's everything you could wish for in a Christmas story and more.
In fact I really shouldn't need to say anything else as Sarah Morgan is wonderful, her books are always something special and if you are a fan of hers like I am then why are you reading this review, when you should be reading the book already!
And if you aren't already a fan of this author then frankly you have been missing out on years and years worth amazing books, from an especially talented queen of romance, and queen of the festive read!
Really all I want to do is throw a thesaurus' worth of lovely words at you, and be done, I was hooked on this book and once I had the characters straight in my mind, and they were all snowed in together, then the book took off and I literally couldn't put it down.
I read a large amount of this in one sitting, ignoring the fact I should have been working, as I just wanted to be wrapped up in the Miller family's dynamics, and their picturesque Christmas without pausing for breath.
And it's a family with some wacky dynamics that I loved seeing them all in the same scene. And there is a weird set of coincidences that lands Lucy on their doorstep, and with her being instantly treated as though she is part of the family and not there for a completely different reason.
If anything I'm slightly annoyed with the way the book ends - not because it isn't the perfect ending - it is, I was just enjoying my time with these characters so much, that had it been left differently I would been convinced this would be the start of a new series from this author, who writes series featuring siblings so so well! But the ending is other than that is utter perfection.
I would absolutely love to see this turned into a film, it deserves a wider audience and I for one would be keen to watch it.
If you can't tell I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Please don't make me wait another 6 months or so for another Sarah Morgan release, please write faster!

Soooooo boring. At first I admired that the farce of the book is revealed and taken care of over the course of a chapter, but I take it back after slogging through the rest. The Nana is insufferable and every other character is flat. I'll never take seriously a woman erotically saying the name Fergus. And you don't even learn who takes over the family shortbread cookie factory! Boo (1.5)

"Oh, goodie! Christmas in August!"
That was my exact thought when I discovered my copy of Sarah Morgan's latest Christmas offering in my mailbox. Although I honestly don't find myself reading many romances nowadays, I'm always delighted to get my hands on the year's Christmas book from Morgan. You know it's going to have all the magic and enchantment of Christmas tied up with all the feels, both wondrous and uncertainty of romance. Cliche that it has become, it's the perfect Hallmark Christmas moment wrapped in festive paper and sparkly ribbons and given to readers as a gift. Thank you, Sarah Morgan.
As for the plot, it follows what seems to have become Morgan's pattern. We're introduced to a character early on who dreads Christmas. In Lucy's case it's because it reminds her of losing her beloved grandmother two years ago on Christmas. Toss in that her job may be in jeopardy and she's willing to give up staying home alone for Christmas to travel to Scotland for some festive winter wonderland type photos and moments to use in an advertising campaign. She also plans to drop off a work proposal for Ross at his Miller Family home in the Scottish highlands. That's when things get complicated.
I won't detail the plot further except to say that mistaken identity, meddling parents, and siblings with a plan all combine to keep Lucy at their home for the holidays after a fierce snowfall leaves them snowed in and Lucy is injured in a fall on ice. Morgan introduces us to all the characters, including sisters Alice and Clemmie, not to mention their romantic interests. As with life, things don't always go smoothly. We see how their relationships evolve as they overcome anxiety from "What if it's a mistake?" type reactions, not to mention dealing with the arrival of family members. Ross' grandmother Nanna Jean is a romantic dear, full of chat about "meet cutes" and how things should work in a rom-com. She, of course, quickly enfolds Lucy to her, perhaps providing the love Lucy hasn't felt since losing her own grandmother. Needless to say, there are many twists, near misses, hopes, fears, and even some business talks that happen as we alternate between character viewpoints. Oh, and there is an adorable dog, Hunter.
In all honesty, my only disappointment, and it was more of a surprise than a true disappointment, Lucy and Ross don't actually meet until we're about a third of the way into the book. That said, it provides ample time for us to get to know the various players in this story, both their strengths and weakness. We also discover they have secrets. Don't all families? In other words, they come across as real people we could know and probably embrace as family given the chance.
Bottom line, I thoroughly enjoyed my early Christmas present from #SarahMorgan. Thanks #HQN for allowing her to share such wonderful moments with readers.
