I read this book via Kindle Unlimited.
Shin's still getting used to sharing his body with an alien parasite named Migi, who is part of a silent invasion to occupy humans and eat mankind. Migi has become docile with Shin, he wants to learn more about this race, and can also sense when others of his kind are nearby. When Shin's parents decide to go on a holiday, they leave their son at home who is thankful for the space to deal with the changes in his life but when he receives a phone call from his dad who says his mum has been killed by a monster, and then she shows up in his house, he knows exactly what has happened. A parasite has taken over his mother's brain and is seeking out his father, in the process, injuring Shin and Migi steps in to heal his body, making him 30% more parasite than before. Shin then finds his father is a hospital miles away and vows to protect him from his mother. It's in this small seaside town he learns all about what becoming more parasite means for him physically and mentally and he discovers he isn't the only failed parasite takeover.
This volume crammed in a lot, and yet it felt like it flowed very well throughout. I really grew to like Shin in this book, and I wonder what the new side characters will bring to this series in future volumes. Shin shows a lot of determination in this book and while this volume is more emotional than the first, it didn't ruin my enjoyment of the book at all.
