You should go to Crete if you want to survive. Amourgeles. They’ll come for you soon.
I’d lived in the city for a long time, and working the drive-thru window of coffee shop meant I’d seen some things. From blowjobs to furries. Sometimes furries getting blowjobs. Let’s face it, no one was at their best when they were uncaffeinated.
So a strange lady with a creepy monotone prediction wasn’t that odd. Normally, I would have just shrugged it off as just another day in Boston.
Except a whole bunch of other weird shit had happened to me in the last three months.
I’d started seeing golden streaks of light. I thought it was a brain tumor, but it turned out to be pregnancy. Didn’t matter that I hadn’t gotten laid in nearly a year after I caught my ex-boyfriend banging his hairy Albanian superintendent.
I’d rationalized the improbability away the best I could. Maybe I was one of those people who sleep walked and had a whole other life at night. Or maybe that one night I went out and got drunk at my co-workers farewell was a little wilder than I remembered.
But it was hard to rationalize away a shadow monster attacking me while I was watching reality television, or that my grumpy neighbor, Nate, grew two feet and killed it with a giant ax that glowed like pure light.
The shadow monsters kept coming. The weird shit kept happening. Eventually, an unexpected trip to the Greek Islands was my only option.
But nothing–not the crazy prophecies to weird shadow monsters–could have prepared me for what I found in Crete.
Tangled Threads of Fate is a novel where no choices have to be made when it comes to the Main Male Characters and the more the merrier is the motto. This book may contain uncomfortable scenes for some people in regards to pregnancy, parental death and other situations. Take care of yourself!
When I was nine, my grandmother and her friends used to read and swap Harlequin Mills and Boons novels. When I was busted reading one, they started sneaking me boxes full of strong heroines and rugged men. Thus started a long love affair with the romance genre. Then I discovered urban fantasy, and fell in love with broody Alphas and sexy paranormals, and combining them together was a no brainer. Then I discovered Reverse Harem.... Oh my. Why choose, am I right?
Feels like I’ve read a totally different book than many of the reviewers. I enjoyed myself but this book still lacked. It lacked depth of characters, depth of relationship and depth of world building. And knowing this book is part of a duet, I’m actually wondering if it could’ve been written as one slightly thicker book and if that wouldn’t have been better— we’re ending in the middle of battle ffs. This book had great potential but the lack of depth made it an enjoyable but average read for me. I cringed by the relationships Wren is establishing between her and the Greek guys. There is too little depth (and for me attraction because of it) that it feels really rushed and like, I could totally understand if Nate would feel angry? The relationship between her and Nate has little depth too, though it had a bit more time to develop obviously, and somewhere in the book she introduced him as her ‘best friend’ while she doesn’t really even know him? He just developed from helpful neighbor and guy she wants to hump, to bff but there’s nothing in the story to make that understandable. She doesn’t know him. None of them. This book feels more like smut that had the have a storyline and that storyline isn’t very strong. I have a feeling the next book will have another addition and that will be the last book, so I don’t see the story developing stronger than this. Great for an easy read, but I guess I’d hoped for more. I liked the introduction between the Gryphon and Wren the most and I did laugh out loud a couple of times, so that was nice.
Grace has done it again. Her writing just sucks you in and I’m not even that mad about the cliffhanger… I mean, I need the other half of this story like I need air but it’s going to be available shortly so I’ll live. I love Grace’s ability to make me laugh in her books. The one liners she has in this story had me giggling and waking up the husband. I’m invested in Wren and her boys and I can’t wait for more❤️❤️❤️
entertaining but hastily written. -“little one” -immature humor “butt nugget” etc -preg w/ triplets -insta love (love yous in a day) -RH w/animal heads (lions, Minotaurs, etc w human glamour) -gearing up for home birth w multiples -lack of attention to detail, first one of the MMC has blonde hair, then has auburn hair w a beard and topknot, then blonde eyebrow. We don’t get a description of FMC character until the end. She doesnt speak full sentences to him bc he’s so hot but somehow she knows he hates her ex. -some are fated mates -urban fantasy w/lots of gods and mythology -no OW/cheating drama but as per MCGintys usual FMC is average in looks and peripheral women are off the charts beautiful.
If you like your fmc to be worshipped by a lot of different men/shifters/immortals, then this is a good choice. It went a bit fast on the fated mates aspect, but I like the mythological storyline and world building, and am curious about the next book.
Tangled Threads of Fate was amazing. I loved the characters and how their relationship developed. This was my first Greek Mythology trope I’ve read. And Grace nailed it! That ending though….. I have so many questions. I can’t wait for the second book to come out.
Really wanted to like it as I love mythology but if you’re after something well written I wouldn’t recommend. Relationships feel rushed and out of the blue, a bit (very) cringe at times (“little one”…), things happen or relationship develop out of nowhere with no good dialogue making it hard to relate/believe (how can a very “basic” FMC end up in this situation with all these “godlike” men who kind of instantly fall in love with her for no reason whatsoever?)

This was a fun RH book that is pretty straightforward and very fast paced.
It's also somewhat insta-love/fated mates (like, the framework of the story seems to be that fate pushed her to these men, who are destined to bond with her). I thought it was fun, though I'll say that 7 men in the harem is a bit much for me - you don't get to spend enough time with any of them for them to feel like fully 3-dimensional characters.
Regardless, I'm having fun with the story and have already started the second book in this duology.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. Normally I stay away from god and goddess books because they all end up being a dissertation. But this one weaved around the myths. I absolutely enjoyed the storytelling. Another heroine for the win.
Grace is the absolute MASTER of the why choose genre, and somehow has taken one of my ick tropes and made it a yum!!!!
What would you do if you were suddenly knocked up with triplets via immaculate conception, being hunted down by a gang of paranormal stalkers and were told that a greek island might offer some safety? Oh, and when you get there be prepared for MANY hot men, lots if drama, and an amazing cliffhanger…
Grace has done it again and as a series this time!!!!
I absolutely loved the plot as well as the story itself. The characters Nate and Wren were entertaining and very likable. The narrative was engaging to the reader. The dialogue was interesting. I felt that it was more a young teenager or early twenties reader in which for some of the sexual encounters are a bit much for a teenager. The book has a good story. I would have liked the book to be more of an adult read, than something that made the reader feel like they’re reading a young adult book. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!
This book totally caught me off guard in the beginning by this amazing mix of unexpected humor and then deep and profound sadness and grief. It was honestly so gripping and it held me so tightly wrapped into the story I kept reading into the early hours of morning, took a nap and picked it back up. I am so happy book two is already out. I'm eagerly headed on to the next book! I have a feeling this is going to be one of my favorite finds of 2024. Highly recommend.
This book was so amazing!!! It had me hooked from the very beginning & absolutely binged it. I can't wait for the second book in the duet to be released as it left us on a cliffhanger where you just want to know what happens next!!!
Rated: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Spice: 🌶🌶🌶
Wren ends up unexpectedly pregnant & has a 'prophecy' from a strange woman who tells that for her & her babies to survive she has to travel to Crete. Wren dismisses this until she is attacked by strange beings she decides to go along with her neighbour Nate, who has secrets of his own.
I found that the story was consistent & flowed well giving us just enough to wonder what is going to happen next & keep the reader interested. I was quite invested in these characters & the relationships between them (exisiting & developing).
For me the fact that it was a mythology based was a huge winner for me, especially since I haven't read book from this genre for awhile. I loved how it was not based on the 'common' gods, but ones we may not have heard of.
Interesting take on the Fates and mythology. It was very fast paced without a lot of depth to it (not that I really noticed!) but it was exciting and fun to read. I enjoyed the dynamics between all of them, but feel like there could have been more world building instead of the barebones explanations we got. I won't lie though, I forgot there was seven of the men til the very end. Also why did it end in the middle of action??
I liked the cast setup and the world building, but the relationships were very shallow and had too much insta-love going on. Admittedly, it is likely due to the large 7+ person harem and difficult to feasibly do in such a short book. I enjoyed the mixed pantheons in the book and seeing gods in atypical good/evil roles.
"Wren, fate might have tied us, but I promise you, there is something even stronger tying me to you."
Tangled Threads of Fate is the first novel in the adult why choose paranormal romance series, Hanging By A Thread. The story follow Wren, a young barista, who finds herself experience a weird set a phenomena of the last three months - strange lights, weird people calling out prophecies, and the discovery that she is PREGNANT with triplets (ignoring the fact she hasn't been in a relationship in over a year). She thinks something is wrong with her...until strange dark creatures attack her and her gorgeous grumpy neighbour, Nate, shows up to save the day...with a glowing battle axe. Suddenly the prophecy that told her to travel to Greece is sounding more and more plausible...but what does fate have in store for Wren...or who does it have in store for her?
This book puts you on a JOURNEY and Wren made it extremely entertaining.
Wren is your average gal thrust into the paranormal and trying to catch her bearings. I loved being with her on this path as I felt so much of what she does I would do.
Nate is a fierce warrior but his attentiveness for Wren had me just a puddle. I loved his acceptance of the situation and how he became her rock in so many ways.
Then there are the Minoans. I don't want to spoil too much but these are a group of characters that range from absolutely devoted to struggling to keep independent. They have quite the back story and watching each of them find their place with Wren was endearing. There are also relationships happening between them and so the new dynamic is fascinating to unpack. I will also add these males are not fully human...and they have different forms :P
This book is a 5 spicy pepper out of 5 spicy peppers. This is why choose with multiple partner scenes and it gets quite explicit in detail. I will say it goes to show even while pregnant, Wren can have some fun! The spice begins around the 30% mark and continues throughout.
"I want her so bad that it was a damn ache in my balls, all the time. I wanted to lay her down and study every inch of her with my eyes, taste every freckle with my tongue, hear every little noise she made until she sang me a symphony every night."
The story itself is laying the groundwork for stuff still looming - why are people after Wren? What is the deal with her babies? What does the prophecy mean? Honestly not many of these questions are given a concrete answer - theories for sure, but I feel the real answers will come in book 2. I did like the pacing of this book as we merged into their paranormal world. I felt it made sense and we got time alongside Wren to understand it. I liked how we got time with the characters but there are a lot of males and I feel we have only scratched the surface. There is a good amount of action that builds up to this epic moment and cliffhanger that surprised me in such a good way!
Overall, I am enamoured and cannot wait for book 2!
Title: Tangled Threads Of Fate (Hanging By A Thread Book 1) Author: Grace McGinty Genre: Romantasy My format: eBook 📱 🌶️: 2.5 Feels: 🥹😂🧐🫣 Darkness: 🖤🖤
The FMC has not had an easy go of things, but that really endears you to her really quickly. You are quickly introduced to a whole slew of characters from around the city, and I found myself wondering if there was more to them or whether they were just to help build out Wren’s character quickly and to show how caring and sweet of a person she is.
The world building in this is amazing, as is the introduction to the various gods and pantheons. I’ve always been a bit of a mythology nerd, so to see this unique and interesting take on (mainly) Celtic and Greek mythologies was super satisfying.
Each of our featured MMCs are unique, with such a well-created back story that has me wanting to know more. It's hard to pick a favourite at the moment - I think I'll take a leaf out of Wren's book, and not choose at all.
As for Wren’s men? Haha well, all I will say is that so far my favourite is the Gryphon and leave it at that so as to avoid spoilers. He had me giggling at his antics multiple times. I am also really excited to see where that cliffhanger is leading!
This review was a little trickier to read than most of Grace’s books for me. I liked it but it was missing that little SOMETHING to give it a full 5 stars. I can’t quite place what, but I will say that it felt a little rushed sometimes? Like maybe descriptions were dropped to keep under a certain word count- a couple of times I remarked to my buddy reader that it felt as though events were described halfway through them happening and we missed the beginning of the movement or conversation and the relationships don’t have the same level of depth as I would usually see from Grace’s books.

Genre: Paranormal Reverse Harem Romance Relationship(s): MMFMMMMM Romance: Medium Burn 🔥🔥🔥 POV: Multiple, first person Platform: Kindle Unlimited Length: 285 pages Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️ Darkness: 🖤 Series: Hanging by a Thread duet, book one Cliffhanger: Yes Themes/Tropes: Friends-to-lovers, Mythological Creatures, Gods, Goddesses, The Wheel, Mythology, Greek, Celtic, Norse, Egyptian, Impregnated by Fruit, Magic, Battles, Pregnancy, Prophecy, Mates Check Triggers⚠️: No
This duet reads like a tapestry of myths woven together, blending threads of familiar tales in intriguing new ways. Wren, embodies a unique blend of characters—her kindness is her most striking trait, and she feels like a cross between Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. While her role in the story isn’t as distinct as one might hope, she anchors a journey filled with Celtic and Greek mythological elements, keeping readers guessing and slightly off-balance as the narrative twists.
The plot unfolds like an unexpected adventure; you’re never entirely sure where the author is leading, which adds to the thrill. However, discussing the details is challenging without giving away the journey itself, and both books hold their surprises close. The story is engaging, yet it left me with a lingering sense of wanting—perhaps more depth, or a richer connection with Wren.
Throughout, Wren encounters an ensemble of mates and allies, including Nèit, Milo, Tryp, Erus, Demke, Teron, Griff, and Cy, as well as other friends who add texture to her path. Overall, it’s a fascinating read, and while it may not fully satisfy, it certainly captivates.

I went into this book knowing that sometimes I love this author's books, and sometimes I think they're just kinda meh. Especially when it comes to her newer books. Unfortunately, I'm leaning towards meh with this one.
The premise of this book is really intriguing. I love mythology, and then you make it a reverse harem? Throw in the Fates and make the setting somewhere authentic like Crete, and it's a done deal. I'm reading it. I just wish the execution was better.
The story reads pretty clunky. It starts slow, with strange things happening to Wren after she eats a rather nice looking apple. Has she never HEARD of Snow White? Ugh. She may get her seven dwarves, I mean men, but still. Don't eat apples from strangers, ladies. But I digress. Strange things happen to her after eating that apple, and after a rather slow beginning to the story, Wren ends up in Crete to meet her fate and the rest of her guys.
A good RH takes time to make each guy feel like a unique person, giving him enough page time to be fleshed out, and makes sure to cultivate a relationship between the guys and the leading lady. This book TRIES, but it all moves so quickly. It's basically, "Hi. You're mine. We can bone now." With a little more than that sometimes, maybe, but barely. I didn't really feel any connection between Wren and her guys, definitely not enough to justify the intensity of any of their feelings (except Nate maybe).
Overall, it didn't suck, but it wasn't awesome either. This book is part of a duet and ends on a cliffhanger, but the second book is out. I'm going to give the second book a chance because cliffhangers do what they're supposed to for me and suck me in, even if I'm reluctant.
Another great read from McGinty - and let me say, I love that she did a book (well, duet) with a focus on mythology; it made the little Greek mythology nerd in me very happy. You can tell she did a lot of research when writing this.
Wren is a tough FMC, faced with some very tricky situations as the plot of the story unfolds. She's dealt a rough hand, both in life before we meet her, and as the narrative progresses, but she tries her best to roll with the punches, even if it delivers her a surprise pregnancy, a prophecy, and multiple hot-as-fuck gods.
The world building in this is amazing, as is the introduction to the various gods and pantheons. I can't wait to learn more about the gods, and how everything will play out.
Each of our featured MMCs are unique, with such a well-created back story that has me wanting to know more. It's hard to pick a favourite at the moment - I think I'll take a leaf out of Wren's book, and not choose at all.
This book ends on one hell of a cliffhanger that had me saying "what?!" at my kindle, ala David Tennant's Doctor (I'm really hoping someone gets that reference 😅) - and I'm so beyond ready for the second part to the duet. There's just so much more I need to know, so many answers I'd love, and I'm so beyond eager for them.
Thank you to the author and the B&B facebook group for the eARC opportunity.
I enjoyed this duology a lot. The fmc is funny, relatable, and a closet badass. The mmcs are awesome, and all their own individual characters; a feat that's surprisingly difficult to pull off with a harem type story. The plot is clear and focused, full of action, pathos, and a healthy abundance of humor. The writing is clean and easy to follow, with some surprisingly poignant one-liners.
**Mild SPOILERS Below**
I give this 3.5/5 stars mostly because I wish this wasn't a RH. We spend so much time in Book 1 with Nate, it felt a little awkward to me once the other mmcs were introduced. It didn't help that Nate was sort of the odd-man out, being the only Norse mythic and not part of the Crete friend group. It was still a good story, I just personally think it would have been better if the mmcs other bonds were platonic, and we got to focus on Nate x Wren instead.
I will say that, by the end of Book 2, I really was enjoying the romantic development between the fmc and some of the other mmcs. There was some especially nice chemistry between Wren and Demke there at the end. And Milo is just an adorable cinnamon roll who deserves everything.
Overall, I would say this is a fun palate cleanser or just an enjoyable anytime light read. Definitely worth a shot if you're on the fence about it.
I want to start by saying I HATE the pregnancy trope and avoid it like the plague, but I’m also the type who never checks the blurb. I was in the mood for a RH, skimmed the synopsis saw "modern RH with an FMC who’s a barista kinda" and thought, hey that could be fun. So with zero expectations, I jumped in.
And honestly? The pregnancy aspect didn’t bother me as much as I expected. The first half of the book? I loved it. The FMC is witty, Nate is amazing, and their dynamic was so good. It was subtly funny, had a good flow, and I was completely on board.
Then.. she meets the rest of her harem. And that’s where things started going downhill. By the last 25% of the book, I was struggling. Everything just became too easy, too rushed, and every guy was instantly obsessed with her in a way that didn’t feel earned. Like, can we get some tension? Some build-up? Anything?
The writing itself was fine (not the best and not the worst) but the spicy scenes? They just didn’t hit. The descriptions lacked that oomph to make them actually steamy.
Wren is getting through life, overcoming trauma and crushing on her hot neighbour when he world turns up side down with the shock news she’s pregnant! With triplets!! Things get a little more complicated when she starts seeing strange lights and gets a visit from a shadow monster with murder on its mind. So along with that hot neighbour, who has an unusual past of his own, Wren is off on an adventure courtesy of an odd ladies prophecy. It’s on a little island in the Mediterranean that Wren learns what fate has in store for her and that when you’re surrounded by hot men who want to take care of you why would you choose? The story is moderately paced but when it lacks in action it makes up for in character building. It weaves elements of Greek mythology and romance with humour and some realistic elements of pregnancy. It does have some on page spice but it is mild and infrequent. Overall it is an easy read that seems to letting the reader get to know the characters before throwing us head first into the action in part 2 of the duet.
